My Trip to Liberia
I was standing on a hill looking at the horrible town of West Point in Liberia, and I was starting to
rethink my career as a journalist. . This is the worst place I ve ever seen, I said. We re not there
yet, Abeeku said with a thick African accent and a grin. He looked more elegant than most people
I saw in Liberia, but he still looked poverty stricken. He was wearing a tattered tank top, and his
blue jeans were smeared with dirt. I m not sure I wantto go down this hill, and enter that disgusting
town, I said. As a rookie journalist, I haven t seen many awful places, but I hope I never have to
go anywhere worse than Liberia. What you ve seen in Liberia so far is nothing, Abeeku said. You
will probably want to rip your heart out when you step into West Point. I was surprised no one
ripped my heart when I crossed the borders into Liberia. Abeeku looked at me with a cheerful
smile, and that was the same cheerful smile he had when I met him at a hotel many miles outside
of West Point. He was away from his daughter Akua for years because of a civil war, and he wanted
to find her, so he could get her out of West Point before the warlordstook over and war started. No
one within hundreds of miles wanted to help him find her, so I agreed to help him if he gave me
something juicy to document. I also helped him because I had a son at home in America, and I
wouldn t know how to go on with my life if I left him for dead in a war zone. Shall we enter

How Has Physical Theatre Changed Over Time Essay
How has physical theatre developed over time?
Physical theatre is a form of performance where movement and physicality of the body has the main
part within a performance. There are several quite distinct traditions of performance which all
describe themselves using the term physical theatre , which has led to a lot of confusion as to what
the definition of physical theatre actually is. The term physical theatre has been applied to
performances consisting mainly of mime, contemporary dance, theatrical clowning and other
physical comedy (such as slapstick), puppetry and mask work and theatrical acrobatics and lifts.
One of the early practitioners of physical theatre was Artaud. His ideas included total theatre,
wherein actors appeal to all ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The development of English pantomime was strongly influenced by commedia dell arte. This was a
comedy of professional artists travelling from province to province in Italy and then France, who
improvised and told comic stories that held lessons for the crowd, changing the main character
depending on where they were performing. Pantomime mainly incorperated song, dance, buffoonery,
slapstick, cross dressing, in jokes, topical references, audience participation, and mild sexual
innuendo. The general movement within Pantomime creates physical theatre as the storyline is
presented to the audience mainly through lifts, dance and slapstick, although performers also use
their voice throughout.
The Theatre of the Absurd is the name for particular plays of absurdist fiction written by a number
of primarily European playwrights in the late 1950s, as well as one for the style of theatre which
has evolved from their work. Their work expressed what happens when human existence has no
meaning or purpose and therefore all communication breaks down, alerting their audiences to pursue
the opposite. The Absurd in these plays takes the form of man s reaction to a world apparently
without meaning, and/or man as a puppet controlled or menaced by invisible outside forces. Theatre
of the Absurd consisted of horrific or tragic images; characters caught in
Personal Assessment Of Strengths And Areas For Development
What did you learn about your leadership? Personal Assessment of Strengths and Areas for
Development. I have more than one overdone strengths. One of them is over optimism about
people, organization, and trust in the management team. Whether it s upper level, or middle
management, I always feel that they know the best, and they know what they are doing. I only
see that everything is done accurately as they are versus how they could or should be. Remaining
loyal to others and the organization does cause issues for me, because others don t normally see it
that way. Trying to make things easier for others, or trying to be less of a burden on others is
perceived as I have no backbone of myself. Defending the rights of others is seen as I m just
always siding with the others. Ensuring others are valued is seen as what do I need from them.
Being sincere is seen as I don t know what I m doing, and am very easy to please, so I can be
ignored. Involve family and friends to point out to me when I m over using my strengths. This will
make me aware of what I really need to concentrate on. This will help me focus and align my
strengths on the needs of everyone, and the organization, and concentrate on other people who have
complementary strengths. Realization that my overdone strengths could in fact be detrimental to not
only my progress, but also others. In general, overdoing it may hurt my effectiveness just as much
as underdoing it. I have to be more cognizance of how others are

Society s Misfortune Our society today suffers from multiple diseases. Diseases range from cancer,
HIV, diabetes, and mental illness. What people do not usually think about as a disease is bullying.
Bullying is one of those diseases that is a major problem is human lives. Bullying is an act that harms
many people around the world, especially here in the United States of America. Bullying can
defined by many things. It s teasing, name calling, stereotyping, cyber bullying, fighting,
exclusion, spreading rumors, public shaming, and aggression intimidation (Strickland).
According to educational reports, an average of 15% of children in elementary school are in
involved in bullying (Ross). This high of a percentage proves that bullying is still a major
problem today in American society. While the percentage is not close to a hundred, those 15% of
young children are affected enough. Fifteen percent of young children being bullied is more than
enough to prove that bullying should be frowned upon. [Bullying] can be in person and online.
But it can often be considered a rite of passage (Strickland). Bullying causes a variety of problems.
The problems are not only in young people, but also adults who were bullied before. To cure this
epidemic, it would be beneficial to society if society was informed about these negative effects.
Bullying frequently causes the victims to experience mental illnesses (Zielinkski).
Rotter s Locus Of Control Scale Test Analysis
Rotter s Locus of Control Scale Test, is a test that measures the belief of controlling outcomes in
people s lives. The Locus of Control Scale test divides control into two categories; internal and
external. People with internal control believe that their actions decide outcomes in their lives, while
people with external control believe that outcomes are beyond their control, which they can t
influence. In the following essay, the results of my Locus of ControlScale Test will be discussed,
along with the effects of control on my leadershipbehavior and how my control responds to different
leadership styles.
Based on the results from Rotter s Locus of Control Scale Test, my locus of control is internal.
Which means, I believe that my ... Show more content on [Link] ...
As a leader, my internal locus of control drives me to always be improving. Since I have an
internal locus of control, I don t need outside influences to motivate me. Passion, and drive comes
from within and I know the actions I take will have a direct effect on my outcome. When I lead, I
know that my actions will have a direct effect on my outcome, either positively or negatively. Due to
having self awareness, I am accountable for my actions and place a high importance on making
correct decisions.
In management, nothing happens without engagement, and goals are not reached without motivation.
A Laissez Faire management style may just get bye, but nothing will ever progress. A Laissez faire
management style is directly related to an external locus of control. This type of management
would believe they are unable to control, or influence the performance of employees, therefore
there is a belief that results will happen on their own. When the results are not achieved, this type of
manager will not take responsibility for poor results. Instead, this manager would blame his
followers for not completing a task successfully. This laissez faire management style is in direct
conflict with a leader with an internal locus. A leader with an internal locus would engage with his
followers, continually work at the development of each individual, and take full responsibility for
unsuccessful results.
Another leadership style is
