NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
Network Operating System
computer operating system that
facilitates to connect and
communicate various
autonomous computers over a
network.
NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
Autonomous computer is an
independent computer that
has its own local memory,
hardware and Operating
System
NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
A specialized operating
system for a network
device such as a router,
switch and firewall
NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
Firewall is a network security device that
monitors and filters incoming and
outgoing network traffic based on an
organization's previously established
security policies.
NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
Windows Firewall that comes bundled
with Microsoft Windows operating
systems. It is a software-based firewall
that can help protect computers from
unauthorized access and malware
attacks by blocking incoming and
outgoing network traffic.
NETWORK OPERATING
SYSTEM
An operating system oriented to
computer networking, to allowed share
file and printer access among multiple
computers in a network, to enable the
sharing of date, users, groups, security,
applications and other network
functions.

CLIENT - Request data
SERVER - Provider data
What are the Components of Client-Server
Network?
1. SERVER is computer hardware or software
that provides functionality to its clients or
users.
• Database server
• Web server
• Application Server
DATABASE SERVER
Database server runs database
software, it helps companies or
business to manage, retrieve, update
or change files, information logs and
other forms of digital data.
WEB SERVER
A web server is software and
hardware that uses HTTP (Hypertext
Transfer Protocol) to respond to
client requests made over the World
Wide Web. The main job of a web
server is to display website content
delivering to users.
Is a WEB SERVER the
same as DNS SERVER?
APPLICATION SERVER
An application server typically can deliver
web content too, but its primary job is to
enable interaction between user clients
and server-side application generate and
deliver dynamic content, such as
transaction results.
CLIENT-SERVER NETWORK
- Client-server networks are computer
networks that employ a dedicated
computer to store data, manage/provide
resources, and control user access.
- The server connects all of the other
computers in the network by acting as a hub.
CLIENT-SERVER NETWORK
In a client-server network, the client
requests services from the server. The server
reacts to client requests by rendering the
necessary service after listening to their
queries.
What are the Components of Client-Server
Network?
2. CLIENTS divide into TWO categories:
• Thick Client
• Thin Client
THICK CLIENT
Thick clients are devices that can
independently process significant
quantities of data and perform
multiple duties.
Thick Client Example: Desktop Email Application
Scenario: Consider a desktop email application like Microsoft Outlook.
Local Storage and Processing: Outlook stores emails, contacts, and
calendar information on your computer. It can process and organize
emails, manage contacts, and update your calendar without needing
to continuously communicate with the email server.
Offline Access: You can access emails and write responses even when
you're offline. These emails are sent once you're back online.
THIN CLIENT
A thin client is a client in a client-server that
depends primarily on the central server for
processing activities, and mainly focuses on
conveying input and output between the
user and the remote server.
Thin Client Example: Web-Based Email Service
Scenario: Consider a web-based email service like Gmail when
accessed through a web browser.
Server-side Processing: All emails are stored on the server (cloud). The
processing, such as filtering spam and organizing emails into folders, is
done on the server.
Dependence on Internet: Requires an active internet connection to
access and manage your emails. If you're offline, you can't access your
emails.

3. Load Balancers are responsible for
distributing incoming queries across
multiple servers in order to manage
traffic and maximize resource
utilization.

4. Internet protocol (IP ) set of rules for
routing and addressing packets of data
so that they can travel across networks
and arrive at the correct destination.

PEER TO PEER NETWORK
Peer to Peer refers to the
transfer of information or data
between two without the support
or influence of a third party.
PEER TO PEER NETWORK
In a peer-to-peer network, devices are
connected directly to each other without any
additional networking devices between
them. Individual users are responsible for
their resources and can decide which data
and devices to share. Because of that, the
network has no central point of control or
administration.
PEER TO PEER NETWORK
In a peer-to-peer network, devices are
connected directly to each other without any
additional networking devices between
them. Individual users are responsible for
their resources and can decide which data
and devices to share. Because of that, the
network has no central point of control or
administration.
PEER TO PEER NETWORK
In a peer-to-peer network,
all computers are considered
equal; they all have the same
abilities to use the resources
available on the computer.
Three basic levels of
P2P networking:
The basic level uses a universal
serial bus (USB) to create a
basic P2P network between two
computer systems.
Three basic levels of
P2P networking:
The intermediate level requires
using copper wires to connect a
large number of computers.
Three basic levels of
P2P networking:
In the advanced P2P network,
software establishes protocols
that manage the direct
connections between multiple
devices over the internet.
