Ancient Greek Philosophy Chapter 7 Summary
Chapter 7
How Ancient Greek Philosophy Influenced the Early Church
Spiritual gifts are to be exercised in an orderly way by all (men and women) so that all may learn (1
Cor 14:31; Dr. Martin Hanna). Ancient Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle thought beyond the
pagan societies in which they lived and numerous elements found in their philosophies were
embraced by Jewish and Christian religious leaders. The common thread was the effort to understand
God as revealed in nature as well as His interaction with humans.85 The philosophers sought many of
the answers that Christians often ponder. Both groups wanted to know more about their creator,
what were the abilities of God, His morality, and how did the human soul come about. Plato s ...

Women were infertile males, 34 The female, since she is deficient in natural heat, is unable to cook
her menstrual fluid to the point of refinement, at which it would become semen (i.e. seed ).
Therefore, her only contribution to the embryo is its matter, and a field in which it can grow. Her
inability to produce semen is her deficiency. The reason why the man dominates in society is his
superior intelligence. Only the man is a full human being. The relationship between the male and the
female is by nature such that the male is higher, the female lower, that the male rules and the female

Juveniles and Drug Abuse
Juveniles and Drug Abuse America Abstract A drug is a substance that modifies one or more of the
body s functions when it is consumed. Therefore, many common foods qualify as drugs. According
to this definition, some of our most cherished beverages such as tea, coffee, and cola are drugs.
However this paper focuses on drugs that are abused by teenagers. Surveys show that cocaine,
marijuana, heroin, and inhalants are the most commonly used drugs among teenagers age thirteen
through eighteen. One of the most startling findings from recent data is the degree to which to
which teenagers are now involved in drug use. This drug abuse problem has gotten worse. Perhaps
our society must hit rock bottom before changes can occur.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In, doing this, researchers need to continue to increase their understanding of drug use among the
youth, its causes, and manifestations. Second, researchers need to explore methods of reaching
youngsters during the crucial years when drugs become an alternative. Evaluation findings show that
schools, which implemented awareness programs, had few participants in the area to partake in
drugs than those schools that did not have awareness programs. The findings also indicated that the
target population needs more schools to implement educational programs like Planned Parenthood
and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program (D.A.R.E.). Heightening the risks of drug abuse
among juveniles makes them aware of the consequences their facing in the future. Studies show
children that are aware of the risks of drugs tend to draw away from drugs rather than those have no
clue about what drugs can do. Therefore, it is important to implement programs of this type in all
schools. Bacchi, Carol Lee. The Politics of Affirmative Action: Women , Equality and Category

Analysis Of Whittier Narrows Nature Center
Whittier Narrows Nature Center Conservation of our natural environment is of vital importance.
Now, people should preserve nature and protect it. In addition, it is imperative to realize that, the
survival of humanity and many creatures depends mainly on the state of the environment around us.
As matter of fact, science place a relevant part in the conservation of the planet. Moreover, Physical
geography is the study of all natural forms and processes in an environment, also, the field covers
the cause and effect of human activity on the environment. Geographers study the location and
distribution of things tangible things such as rainfall, mountains, and trees (Hess, Darrel, Physical
Geography, Third California Edition) For this reason, I decided to visit The Whittier Narrows
Center. It is one of the many centers that have been established in US to conserve the most crucial
asset that human beings possess, the environment. Those who study geography realize that it is
important to conduct a thorough study on the center and its activities to identify what makes it such
a unique site. This project is providing an insight of the center by describing its natural settings per
Physical Geography. The paper will focus on the center s location, geographical settings, weather,
climate, plants and trees, soils, wildlife, terrain, local history and a site map. The Whittier Narrows
Nature Center is located at 1000 Durfee Road South El Monte, Ca 91733. Its coordinates are
Identity and Belonging
PROMPT Change can be easy or hard
Throughout your life the process of ageing is constantly influencing your identity. As William
Shakespeare wrote All the world s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have
their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,... . Our identity is forever
changing and this is because we are forever ageing. Throughout out the three main stages of ageing
youth, middle age, elderly we don t just age physically, we age physiologically as well. Hence as
we age we mature, become wiser and more aware of the world around us. As of this our views
change from each stage of life, thus inflicting our identity to change. Although some people find this
transition from one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However many adolescence find it hard to transition to adulthood as they no longer have the
burdens of high school pressures and friends. This also creates problems for people who only have
social networks that they have from school meaning when school is over they need to adapt to a new
environment and become independent. This can be emotional and daunting for many youth.
Middle age is a crisis for many people both men and women. It is a time when they have left the
excitement and potential of their youth, instead they reflect back on where they have come from
and often look with dread towards their older years, in Ray Lawyers Summer Of The Seventeenth
Doll this period of time effects many characters negatively as they cannot accept they are aging
and thus see change as a daunting factor. Roo, the ganger of a team of cane cutters, realises he is
ageing when his back gives way and he is forced to step down as top dog. Since he was young he
had been a cane cutter, that was his identity but because of his ageing body, his identity will
change as he can no longer be a cane cutter, this not only affects Roo but also Olive. Olive has
been in the group since it started seventeen summers ago and is reflecting on her life so far,
remembering the times when Roo and Barney would come down South to see her and Nancy
during the layoff. However since Nancy has left the group to go get married, Olive realises that

Narrative Techniques in
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a novel by John Boyne. This novel is set during World War 2
and explores themes such as prejudice, racism, war, innocence and friendship. What sets it apart
from other novels is that it uses a third person limited point of view, and mostly depicts events as
they are seen by a young and naïve boy. This was one of the main narrative conventions that engaged
me in this novel.
The point of view is the most interesting and important narrative convention of this novel. It is
written in third person limited mostly from Bruno, the young boys, perspective. This means it does
not use I or we but we do get to find out what the main character is ... Show more content on

He merely parrots back things that he has heard others say as he thinks this is normal and he has
no way to know otherwise. One particularly poignant example is Heil Hitler, he said, which, he
presumed, was another way of saying, Well, goodbye for now, have a pleasant afternoon. p.54.
This made me as a reader wonder wether I would be blind to the harsh reality if I had been raised in
that way. I think that this is one of the most important things Boyne wants this novel to make us
think about.
In parts of the novel Bruno begins to actually lose his innocence and learn and understand more
about the world around him. For example, when he is talking to Maria about his father and she
starts to speak to him about her earlier life he realized for the first time that he had never fully
considered her to be a person with a life and a history of her own, p.60. This process is not fast
enough as this innocence still leads to his early death in a gas chamber. However, he thinks that he
is just going on a march while he was trying to help his friend, and this means that he is not afraid.
His innocence acts like courage, and shields him from fear while placing him in danger.
There are also symbols and comparisons made in the novel. Mostly these are during interactions
between Bruno and Shmuel, and often they are very unrealistic, and do not further the plot but
instead are there just to make a point. For
Essay On Charles Manson
How does someone get sentenced to death row for murders without actually killing a single person?
For someone whose specialty is brainwashing and cult building, this is quite the simple feat. In the
words of Charles Manson, We re not in Wonderland anymore Alice. To even remotely comprehend
the mind of Manson, one must dive headfirst into his turbulent past, multiple murders, and current
imprisonment. Troubled childhoods lie behind many criminals, and Charles Mansonis no different.
On November 12, 1934, Charles Milles Manson was born to a drug abusing, criminally involved,
16 year old girl in Ohio ( Manson Family ). She is said to have sold him for a single pitcher of
beer (Henderson). As one can expect, this was only the start of an extremely troubled life. By the
age of 9, Manson had gone from residing with family members to living at reformatory schools.
He was beginning to follow in his mother s footsteps, also committing his first theft at this age
(Henderson). Young Charlie s life would take an even sharper downward turn as the years
progressed. Most know Manson as a notorious cult leader who inspired his followers to do the
unthinkable. Upon reaching age 34, Manson chose to start a family (Abbas). However, this one
would be far different than any other family to ever exist. He pushed the boundaries of sanity for
several young girls whom he lured into his evil movement. Charles believed that an enormous
race war would bring about the end of the world. He predicted that African Americans would
prevail. During all of this, he planned to hide out with his family in the desert, only to emerge and
take over the world because he thought the African Americans would be unfit to lead themselves.
He even referenced himself as Jesus Christ incarnate (Abbas). All of Manson s predictions came
from what he thought were hidden messages in the song Helter Skelter by the Beetles
(Henderson). It seemed as if all that was left to do was wait for the end to come. When the
apocalypse failed to start, Manson took matters into his own hands. His master plan was to send
members of his cult to commit murders, thinking African Americans would be blamed, thus the start
of the race war. The first round of murders are
