The Sweetheart Of Song Tra Bong Character Analysis
Even though we may not realize it, the environments we live in have a big effect on our personality
and character. People are reflections of the interactions they make with the people and institutions
surrounding them, and when this is changed the people themselves change too. This is prevalent in
both The Lord of The Flies by William Goldberg and The Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong by Tim O
brien, as both stories cause the characters introduced in their isolated settings to adapt in a way that
reflect their new surroundings. These characters start out as normal individuals, but as time passes,
they accustom themselves to the new circumstances they face. As demonstrated by Mary Anne from
The Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong and Jack from The Lord of the Flies a severe change in
environment results in an extreme, yet gradual change in character, and goals which are marked by
symbols used... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Mary Anne first comes to Vietnam, she is depicted as a stereotypical cute blonde and blue
eyed American girl, with a bubbly personality and a sense of curiosity. At this point she hasn t
been exposed to the current state of Vietnam, and all she knows is her home, the United States.
Her personality and goals reflect the environment she has been living in for the majority of her
life and the interactions she has with others. This is similar to how Jack is near the beginning of
The Lord Of the Flies as he is depicted as a chapter chorister and head boy. Jack is shown to be a
character who is a arrogant and authoritative, yet innocent and civilized. He has a mutual respect
for Ralph who is also another born leader , who have a common understanding of what needs to be
done on the island to ensure a working society: a rescue fire and hunting. These images of both
Mary Anne and Jack are seemingly normal, when they originally arrive to their respective new
The Anatomy Of Corporate Fraud Essay
Article Critique #1 The first article researched was The Anatomy of Corporate Fraud: A comparative
Analysis of High Profile American and European Corporate Scandals. The abstract discusses the
analysis conducted on the three major American accounting scandals; Enron, WorldCom, and
HealthSouth, and compares to the three major European accounting scandals; Parmalat, Royal
Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Bahram Soltani (2014), also discusses within the abstract the
different areas reviewed regarding why the accounting scandals occurred; ethical climate, tone at the
top, bubble economy and market control, fraudulent financial reporting, accountability, control,
auditing, governance, and management compensation (p. 251). Between 2001 and 2003 there were
several corporate accounting scandals that occurred that took the world by surprise. A lot of
investors lost a lot of money and several employees lost their jobs. These accounting scandals
occurred due to management misconduct, fraud, and scams that occurred within these companies.
Within the United States, the big cases typically viewed are the Enron, WorldCom, and HealthSouth
cases, however, it is forgotten that Europe experienced a similar situation with Parmalat, Royal
Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Soltani (2014), discusses the importance of understanding the
motivation and causes of financial corporate scandals. Soltani (2014) notes three research questions
associated with this article: 1. What are the common
Sacred Places Research Paper
The archives found in the area depicts that the people of the Ur district worshiped many Gods.
However, it can be deduced that the major God that the people of Ur worshiped was the Nanna or
the Moon God. As mentioned above, the city of Ur was divided into two areas, namely, common
district and the sacred place. The sacred place has a large monument or massive brickwork which is
called the temple of Sinor the godof the moon. This monument was erected by the king of Ur about
4000 years ago. The temple was made in a series of platforms, one platform on top of another. The
people of Ur assumed that the God lived at the third platform. In the common district, there were a
large number of marketplaces, schools, libraries, homes and conveniences.... Show more content on

In this massive destruction, a large number of inhabitants ran away, and several buildings were
destructed. Therefore, there is evidence available regarding the living of the people in the
traditional Ur city. The archaeologists have used the little information from which the plans of
streets, houses and shops have been drawn. The artifacts and the archeological findings show that
in a typical townhouse, street door opened into a small lobby. The entrance of the house
contained a jar of water which is provided to the arriving people to wash their feet. On another
side of the lobby, there is another courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard were various rooms like
store rooms, lavatory and kitchen. The kitchen includes a table built with brick, grinding stones
and oven for cooking. The people in the ancient city also used pots and pan for cooking. The
typical houses in Ur city contained a long room in the center called reception room. The modern
Arab houses also follow the same pattern. In addition to it, the houses of Ur had a well constructed
staircase at the other side of the house courtyard. Generally, the houses do not have an upper floor;
however, there is evidence that implies that the houses have one or more upper rooms. The houses in
the Ur city also contained the domestic chapel, altar and the family burial vault (Nelson,
Killer Angels The Human Factor Essay
Killer Angels Paper The Human Factor in the American Civil War nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Michael Shaara amp;#8217;s fictional novel, The Killer Angels, is based on the Battle of
Gettysburg in the American Civil War. The novel allows the reader to recognize the heart and
courage of the more than two million men that fought in the war. Shaara focuses the reader to better
understand the reason why these men fight and the meaning of the war. Ultimately, the reader
observes that the war is fought on an individual level as much as a governmental level. These men
are there to fight for what they believe is truly right. The Confederates fought for their rights to hold

All these factors show that American Civil War, in some cases, fought on an individual level as
well as for the government. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The friendship between General
Armistead and General Hancock affects their attitude towards the fighting. Both become a little
weary because they would be fighting each other. General Armistead hopes that his enemy was

amp;#8230;I wish amp;#8230; the war was over. ; Knowing Hancock is on the other side
discourages Armistead from fighting the battle. There is another instance in the text that
Armistead is sorry is starting too early with the attack because Hancock may not be set and ready.
He then prays to God that General Hancock would be all right. The friendship has caused General
Armistead to be disheartened towards the battle. His individual interests are in the way of the war.

The Pigman Responsible
3) When a person tells you to be more responsible, what does that mean? What does the choice of
the wife as the most responsible person for her own death by 90 percent of my classes tell you
about seventh graders attitudes towards responsibility? This means that you do the right thing,
even when nobody s watching. The choice of the wife that 90% of 7th grade students picked
shows me that students are very responsible, because they will own up and confess to their
wrongdoings and mistakes. The wife was blamed because students are pointed in the direction that
they are responsible for their own mistakes. The wife in the story was not, however, responsible
because if you took the assassin out of the equation, there would be no killing or murder and the
wife would not be dead. Are students in this school asked to handle too many responsibilities? No,
students in this school are not asked to handle that many responsibilities. They are asked to do their
homework, go to class, and do what their told. They are not responsible for that much, and even
though, they (John and Lorraine) skip school and make up excuses to not do their homework. 4.)

When she first met the Pigman she was cautious and reserved. Now, she has learned to have fun
and live on the edge. She roller skates in houses, has parties, and much, much, more. John has
definitely evolved the most, though. In the beginning, he was obnoxious and didn t know when
enough was enough. He always crossed the line. Now, after his adventures with Mr. Pignati, he is a
little bit more careful and has learned not to be a troublemaker. I think Lorraine and John learned
not to meddle with other people s lives and prank call to bother
Saskatchewan Roughriders Research Paper
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have been an organization in Regina for over 100 years. Though
operating as a non profit, the organization generates millions of dollars in revenue annually along
with millions of dollars of profit. The goals of non profit organizations do not aim to make a profit
but year in and year out the Riders turn out in the positive. By applying for profit business
principles the Saskatchewan Roughriders are able to manage their expenses and turn out at the end
of the year in the green. Popularity, success, and licensed goods such as hats, jerseys, or anything
with an official logo on it play important roles in how well the organization does financially. The
main reason this particular organization generates profits and
How To Be A Powerful Soccer Player
Have you ever had that one referee who seems to hate you for no apparent reason? Every time you
come close to another player you get a warning, you re offside on every play, or you even get a
card for the smallest tackle. Yeah, I ve had that ref before too. They might not realize it, but many
referees seem to target certain players, sometimes even one of the teams as a whole. I don t know
if the referees talk to each other and discuss which players might play dirty and other things of the
sort, but they always seem to be a bit discriminatory. Now don t get me wrong, some refs are great
and always make the perfect calls, but some of the ones that come to mind when you read the title of

The biggest incident I ve had actually occurred last year, in my most recent soccer season. A
player from the opposing team had the ball and was running down our sideline so I ran after him.
After I caught up I got ahead of him, cleanly took the ball s possession, and I got ready to turn
around to clear the ball up the field. Before I got a chance to get my foot on the ball I heard the
ref blow his whistle. So I stopped, turned around, and the other player was lying on the ground
covering his face. I was pretty confused to be honest. The referee called me over and I asked him
what the call was, apparently I had stepped and tripped the other guy. I got a yellow card and had to
step out of the game. What made it even worse is that we were playing against our rival and we
were inside of the goalie box. So the other team got a penalty and that mistaken call costed us the
game. Do you have a story where the referee seemed to be targeting you or your team? Share it

The Arnolfini Wedding
Do you wonder what The Arnolfini Wedding is? I looked at different views of this painting. In the
end I found interesting things about this oil painting. This painting will show many different forms
of viewing it. Also, it will show what the artist was thinking, and why he was thinking it. I will go
into detail about how oil paintingcame to be a form of art and why the artist showed this in his
paintings.
When thinking about art people think it s only about paintings with normal colors and paints. Well,
they would be wrong. not only are there several different types of art but also different types of
paintings. Today I will show you the light into the world of Oil Paintings. Oil painting is the process
of painting with pigments with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Arnolfini Wedding by Jan van Eyck caught my eye the very first time I saw it and it s hard to
take my eyes off of it. Some history behind it. A lot of people call the Arnolfini Wedding oil
painting the most Easter Egg y painting. People believe that this oil painting shows an Italian
merchant with his wife. Is this what it really shows or is there something else hiding in the
painting. With Arnolfini wearing one of the pimpest hats in the history of pimping which is very
hard to capture. Looking at this painting it is easy to dismiss this the portrait. Saying it is only
another piece of old art which features dead rich people. When you look into the mirror it appears
that two people are standing in the room in front of the Aenolfinis. One of them allegedly to be a
self portrait of van Eyck. So, when you look at a piece of art you should look at it a second time.
Look to see if there is meaning behind the painting. In such instance look past the people and look
at the small details you will see the meaning behind the picture. The artist wanted people to look
deep into the painting to find the meaning. Many people think that Jon van Eyck used a
magnifying glass to paint small details in the mirror. Therefore they call it an Easter egg. unless
you look close enough at the picture most people can t see these details. He had created one of the
first Easter Eggs in art
Pleasantville setting essay
Describe at least ONE important setting in the text(s).
Explain how the setting helped to show the author / creator s idea(s), supporting your points with
visual and / or oral language features.
The film Pleasantville written, directed and produced by Gary Ross shows a time period in
American History where life was more comfortable, stable and perfect if you would generalise it.
However, as the film ironically shows, this was a time when people were more ignorant, racist and
most certainly sexist. Ross demolishes this illusion of the great 1950s American society by showing
how its defects are gradually changed from black and white to colour. Ross uses various settings to
help show the viewer the imperfect aspects of Pleasantville s ... Show more content on

Betty is a clear example of costume change. In the beginning Betty wore the typical ladies dress
wear, big poodle skirt etc but as betty starts gaining more knowledge and independence she starts
dressing more elegantly and feminine .This shows the viewer that as the people of pleasantville
gains more knowledge they start to demonstrate the idea of The importance of change which is one
of the ideas that gary ross shows us through setting.
Music is an important signifier of setting and shows the idea of The importance of change clearly
throughout the film. When Jen and David first enter Pleasantville the recurring songs and motifs
for example Take 5 by Dave Brubeck which is played at the beginning in the soda shop gives the
town of pleasantville a very joyful and pleasant atmosphere. This music perfectly matches the
naivety of the teenagers as they engage in good, clean fun with their peers. As the idea of The
importance of change starts to appear in pleasantville, the music becomes more complex and darker
to portray the new rebellious mood that has seized Pleasantville. An example of this is when the
new code of conduct was issued and one of the rules were In no event shall any music be tolerated
that is not of temperate or pleasant nature .In a scene when the coloureds were all gathered at the

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Sentencing
Mandatory Sentencing
Mandatory Sentencing is a court decision where judicial discretion is limited by law. Typically a
crime in Australia has a maximum penalty but does not have a minimum, therefore the judge has to
take into account the minimum penalty and can then from there continue to add on to the minimum
penalty. For example in the late 1990 s a very controversial decision was to made when a mandatory
sentence was introduced for repeat home burglary offenders in Western Australia. The NSW
government has recently introduced a Mandatory sentencing law as part of a plan to minimise
alcohol related violence and to deter others from the violence.
NSW and Australia in general have seen many alcohol related incidents recently and the NSW
government has decided to make a change. The NSW government has introduced a mandatory
sentencing law of a minimum of 8 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mandatory sentencing for king hits or coward punches has also been controversial. Many people
have debated for the legislation stating that the mandatory minimum sentence will deter many others
from committing the crime and cause people who are drinking to think more carefully about their
actions. People are also backing the new legislation as they think that the punishments should be
greater than they were previously. On the opposing sides of things people are arguing that this new
piece of legislation will not change anything, as they believe that when these crimes are committed,
they are in the spark of the moment and there is no real thought process as to what the consequences
could be. Another reason against the law is that it really will not bring justice to the families that are
affected by these coward punches . The maximum sentence for the one punch law is still lower than
manslaughter and most of the offenders receive sentences well below the
