Sara Burns The Central Park Five Analysis
Confessions of the Central Park Five
Confessions, in the eyes of most people, have always been a good thing. As a child your parents
told you to confess your wrongdoing to them, to not get in trouble. Confession plays a massive role
in the religion; believers in God are taught that one must confess their sins to their savior in order to
be forgiven. In the criminal court, confessions are used to convict both the innocent and the guilty.
The confession which was once pure has now been twisted, to take away loved ones from one
another, turn the innocent into the guilty, and rob the lives of the convicted. A confession is a
statement by which the person admits his or her guilt. However, does admitting guilt brand you
guilty?
In the book by Sara Burns, The Central Park Five, tells the story of five young men who were
incarcerated for the brutal rape and beating of a New York woman. The confession that happened
on April 19 1989 forever changed the lives of five innocent teenagers. In the United States of
America there is a widespread belief that the alleged criminals are innocent until ... Show more

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Analysis
Mocking Slice of Work Life Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both award
winning television comedies. Both series were created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor.
However, while Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both mockumentary styled
television shows, they differ in a variety of aspects. To begin, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn
Nine Nine share similar character dynamics but differ in job requirements. Similarly, Parks and
Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine carry an optimistic outlook yet use different comedic devices.
Despite both series having similar settings the editing is strikingly different. In spite of Parks and
Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine s common co creators, the shows are not exactly the same. The
character dynamics in both these series are similar; however, the characters have different job
requirements. For example, Captain Holt and Rosa have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As explained in the paragraphs above, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine differ. The
characters in Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine occupy different jobs, and the level
of danger in their job are different. Furthermore, their comedic devices are also very different
from one another. Finally, their editing is almost nothing alike. Whenever a popular content
creator or creators in this case move onto a new piece of content, it is common for people to see
that new content and compare it to the one they have seen before. This process leads to
disgruntled fans, whether the content creators succeeded in creating a new piece that is unlike
their past work or not. And because old ideas and methods are recycled in every piece of work, it
is easy for someone who is not very analytical when viewing television to assume after a few
episodes that Brooklyn Nine Nine is the same show with different actors and jobs. However, this is

The Revolt Of Mother By Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
The time period between the late 1800s and early 1900s was a ground for many crucial changes for
women and how they were viewed and treated. The right to their children, property, and earnings
was granted to them during this time period ( Women Suffrage in the Progressive Era American
Memory Timeline Classroom Presentation | Teacher Resources Library of Congress ). Many women,
no matter what their occupation might have been, supported this movement ( Women Suffrage in
the Progressive Era American Memory Timeline Classroom Presentation | Teacher Resources
Library of Congress ). Female Writers were extremely proactive when it came to clearly displaying
the mistreatment that women endured while society viewed it as right. One writer in particular,
Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, published a short storythe displayed the injustice in the treatment. The
Revolt of Motherclearly displays the repression of women in a society much like the one we live
in today, and the story leaves the reader with an essential lesson of standing up for one s self. This
piece of work is heavily influenced by the oppression Freedom faced during her life time. In
Freeman s story Mother is meant to represent every woman, while Father represents every man.
She uses them as a generalization of how each gender views and treats each other. Mother is
displayed in this work as a hard working loyal person. She is viewed as a person who just wants the
best for her family. Her husband, however, is

The Importance Of Poverty
What is poverty? Poverty in my sense of the word is when a person has nothing of there own. No
food. No water and very poor living conditions. Also since this world revolves around a type of
currency a person in poverty would have little or none of any type of currency wherever that person
resides. Does the word povertydifferentiate from a country like England that has a government that
tends the needs of the lower class than a third worldcountry like Africawhere it is survival of the
fittest? Which would really be the poor? In darlymples writing he gives an example of a heroin
addict in England that one of his doctors from the Philipines is taking care of. She knows what
this addict has gone through. Living on the struggles of this addiction and with these struggles
comes some type of poverty. It says that they required intensive care to revive him (178). The
doctors and the nurses had to take care of him throughout the whole night and when he finally
woke up from almost dying like if it was a muscle reflex he shouts get me a cigarette. Cussing at
the doctors and treating them like they are the enemy right after they just saved his life. This made
the filipina doctor wonder why do the poor here take everything for granted and not appreciate what
is done for them?
After many patients that come into the hospital that darlymple and his doctors are working at they
can see the difference when there a government behind the poor that backs them up and gives the

A Research Study On Serial Killers
Summary of the research question and outcome
My research project topic was slightly motivated by a murder in the family around 20 years ago.
Hearing about this was overwhelming and made me think about murderers themselves, and what
motivated them to commit murder and whether these reasons could be categorised. Preliminary
research identified that serial killers are people who have committed two or more discrete murders,
either acting alone or with another person. A number of secondary sources present information
stating that serial killers usually fall into the following categories: Visionary, Mission Oriented,
Hedonistic and Power/Control. The outcome is in the form of an essay explaining the most common
serial killers motives. The key finding from my research is that serial killers are not motivated by
one particular reason, but there are many other explanations as to why they commit such a heinous
crime or are motivated to commit murder.

Topic Selection and Refinement
Deciding on a topic to research was easy, as crime is something I have an interest in. Having
known that a serial killer was once considered ordinary, is now perceived as a dreadful monster. In
order to start refining my research I had to conduct a topic to then later, begin with a variety of
preliminary research on the topic, in order to develop a question. My question was refined numerous
times before I found one that was suitable. The original questions were what are the

Two Gallants Essay
Two Gallants A short story by James Joyce published in his 1914 collection Dubliners. Two men,
Lenehan and Corley, are walking the streets of central Dublin on a Sunday evening. Corley
dominates the conversation telling Lenehan about a girl he has recently seduced, a maid who
works for a wealthy family. He brags about how the girl supplies him with cigars and cigarettes,
which she steals from the family. Corley considers his relationship with this girl superior compared
to when he used to ask women out and spend money on them. The two men have arranged a meeting
with the maid, where the aim is to convince the maid to bring them money, stolen from her
employees. Corley has a date with the girl later that evening, and before he... Show more content on

Joyce describes Corley as squat and ruddy and with a large, globular and oily head not exactly
how one imagine a gallant. Furthermore he seems rude and selfish, because of his constant
bragging and his behaviour towards the girl and Lenehan. Lenahan on the other hand is described
as a leech but a bit more self reflective than Corley. Based on his expectations towards others, it
would seem as if he has been let down several times, for instance in the end where Corley hasn t
arrived at the appointed hour, Lenehan instantly assume, that Corley has cut him out of the plan.
Similarly, Corley only allows Lenehan a distant glimpse of the girl, for the fear of competition.
The two gallants both have a constant of being betrayed. The title is obviously ironic, considered
the two men s behaviour during the short story. The two men are anything but gallant and fine men.
Instead they exploit the young woman. Corley has seduced her into giving both her body and some
cash in exchange for nothing but a lie. Corley hasn t even revealed his name for the girl. Neither of
the two gallants have a decent job, or the opportunity for advancement. They both live a dissolute
life, constantly searching for easy women and money. They don t have any ambitions. When
Lenehan sits in the bar and imagines an alternative to his current lifestyle, his vision is to settle
down in some smug and live happily
Fretful Believer
Do not fret it leads only to evil Psalms 37:8.
David clearly exhorts us 3 times in Psalm 37 to fret not !
A fretful believer can have very little Christian influence in any community. No man can have much
confidence in the piety of another who habitually indulges in fretfulness.
Who does not know that indulging in the slightest bit of fretful behavior instantly breaks up our
peace of mind, brings the spirit into rough waters, stirs up the sediment and makes it like the
troubled sea?
I admit it. I m a worrywart. I ve been one all my life. When I fret, I put lots of effort into worrying
about something that might happen or worrying about a problem that doesn t seem to have a
possible good ending. This brings out a doubt in God, in His
Analysis Of The Machine Stops
The Machine Stops is a short, science fiction story written by E.M. Forester. Set in a post
apocolypic dystopian society, the two main characters, Vashti and Kuno, as well as everyone else,
live underground with the help of the Machine. The Machine provides every single person and
their needs, including the air they breath, because the surface of the Earth can no longer sustain
mankind. Not only does the Machine give every necessity to its people, it also provides the Book,
which contains rules to help the people survive. This often leads the people to worship the Machine
as a type of deity. In the book The Machine Stops, which was written by E.M. Forester, the main
characters Vashti and Kuno have multiple differences with few similarites. Vashti and Kuno are
completely different in apperance. When being introduced to Vashti, the book describes her as a
swaddled lump of flesh a woman, about five feet high, with a face as white as a fungus. (Forester
1). This is a very strong and disturbing representation of a women. This implies that Vashti doesn t
move much due to inactiveness, and also implies that she doesn t go outside much, more or less
because of the fact that she lives underground. On the other hand, Kuno has a very athletic build.
When being introduced to Kuno, we learn that he was sent away as a baby because all babies were
sent away from their mothers at birth. We also learn that Kuno possessed some kind of physical
strength, because he escaped the Machine,
Paying College Athletes
In Joe Nocera s article, Let s Start Paying College Athletes , he argues that college athletes should
be paid for playing sports. Nocera begins his article by providing an example of how some athletes
will receive money that is perfectly fine while other athletes cannot accept any money or else that
player will be in violation of NCAA rules. It s evident that there are large amounts of money
involved in the college sports. Top college coaches can make as much or more than professional
coaches. Together with men s basketball, College footballhave become huge commercial enterprises
generating huge amounts of annual revenue (Nocera, 2011).
Nocera offers a plan in his arguments on why it is necessary to pay college athletes. He provides
evidence in showing that there is a lot of money around and players should at least receive a small
amount of that money. He cites, examples of players seeing jerseys with their names on them being
sold in the bookstores. Players invest more than 50 hours a week in their sports, and they learn early
not to take other activities that may interfere with their football or basketball schedules. These
efforts deserve remuneration. Although he does not cite any source, there are sources found online
that back up his evidence.
The NCAA. may define the players as students, but the players know better. They are well aware that
they are making money for the athletic department. In his statements, Nocera argues that college
players are affected. They
