The Differences Between The And Of The Christian Realist...
The different Christian views struggle with the brokenness of human nature. The difference in
views lies in how this brokenness is interpreted. How does one balance the human being who is
born in the image and likeness of God, yet, has fallen from grace? The two distinct views will
revolve around seeking answers to this question, and what is the best way to act on these answers in
dealing with the broken human. It becomes a question of mercy and grace in this world versus a
constant searching by the human, which only ends in the presence of God. The latter reflects the
view of the Christian Realist.
The philosopher and father of the Christian Realist position, Reinhold Niebuhr, argues that Augustine
s City of God lays the foundation for the Christian realist thought. It is in this work that Augustine
presents a realistic view of humankind that was in contrast with the classical view of the human
being. The latter s view idealized human s unlimited potential because of their ability to reason.
Niebuhr argues that this difference in the viewpoints of Augustine and the classical philosophers lies
in Augustine s biblical, rather than rationalistic, conception of human selfhood with the ancillary
conception of the seat of evil being in the self (Niebuhr, Christian Realism and Political Problems
123 124). It is from this concept that Niebuhr argues that human nature is evil as a result of sin. This
sinful nature of the human has forever shaped his movements. It drives his
Failure Of Appeasement Research Paper
Failure of Appeasement was the main reason WW2 occurred. How far do you agree?
The policy of appeasement was used between 1935 and 1939 by the League Of Nations towards Nazi
Germany. It involved making concessions to Germany, allowing Hitler to do things such as
Anschluss and invade the Sudetenland. Many historians, including Winston Churchill, critisied
appeasement at the time. One way in which Appeasement failed and contributed to the outbreak of
WW2 was that it encouraged Hitler to follow his expansionist policies (Lebensraum). This is shown
by the risks Hitler was taking, hoping no repurcussions would occur. One example of this the
remiliterisation of the Rhineland in March 1936 which, directly contradicting the terms laid out in the

The league was designed to democratically complete its main aims; enocouraging disarmament
and improving working conditions and upholding peace. The League failed in these aims and
allowed powerful nations to gain unlawful global strongholds. One example of this was the italian
invasion of Corfu in 1923, the League failed to enforce sanctions and allowed mussolini to
demand compensation and an apology from greece. Mussolini could see the League was weak and
later invaded abysinnia in 1935. The league, once again, failed to act and the world lost confidence
in its ability to keep it safe.
The nazi soviet pact was signed between germany and russia, agreeing to complete non aggression
and the divison of poland. This meant Hitler could focus on the western front and gave him
confidence in winning the war. This meant the likelyhood of war breaking out was massivly
increased.
Overall, I believe the faliure of appeasement isnt the main reason for the outbreak of the second
world war because it bought Britain time to prepare for conflict. The failure of the League Of Nations
to prevent expansionist foreign powers was to blame. It didnt enforce sanctions on Italy, Germany
and Japan (as seen in the manchurian crisis) and allowed them to gain the confidence to begin the

Water Crisis Impact in California

Due to the lack of rain in the past few years, and particularly in the last few months, California faces
severe drought. This is the worst drought in more than one hundred years. The impact of California
drought affects community, agriculture, organic ranchers, and dairy farmers. Because of these facts,
the United States must rethink the way it uses water. Californians alone are asked to reduce their
water usage by twenty percent to prevent water waste.
Communities, Agriculture, Organic Ranchers and Dairy Farmers Many communities in California

Economists at the University of California, Davis said that agriculture, once a $44 billion annual
business in California, will suffer a financial hit of $2.2 billion due to revenue losses and higher
water costs (Associated Press, 2014). Many farmers are going out of business because the
production costs have increased with rising inflation, while revenue has decreased. Others have
reduced their farmland plantations which decreases the crop production. Some of the affected
crops include oranges, pistachios and rice. One example of how this affects the nation is the
California almonds. California [is] the source of eighty percent of the world s almonds
(Bloomberg, 2014). This year farmers had to come up with new tactics to rescue the nut from
drought by diverting the water used for vegetables and drilling more water wells to keep the trees
hydrated (Bloomberg, 2014). Farmers are not the only group of workers affected by the drought.
Organic ranchers and dairy farmers in California also feel the effects of the drought. They rely on
green pasture to feed their animals a healthy diet. Due to the lack of rain, the pasture are drying up
and the ranchers have to purchase supplemental organic hay from other states. In an attempt to fund
the purchasing of this out of state hay, the organic farmers are selling herds to businesses for
hamburger meat and the small
Comprehensive Personal Budget Analysis
Personal Finance Unit Four Budgets A personal budget showing recurring and nonrecurring income
and expenses, including living expenses, loan payments, savings and investment activity, and durable
purchases, is a comprehensive personal budget. This type of budget shows all aspects of financial
activities. It is an essential tool for managing your finances and strategizing for your financial future.
With goals in mind, the comprehensive personal budget helps in determining how to effectively
reach those goals with minimal financial impact. In a sense, a comprehensive personal budget is an
ongoing health assessment for your finances (Siegel Yacht, 2009). One component of the
comprehensive budget is the operating budget. This component looks at short term goals and
consists of income and expenses that are recurring. All sources of income are included, as well as all
recurring living expenses. The frequency of each occurrence must be considered, since not all
recurring income and expenditures occur monthly. An annual operating budget captures all activity
for the year, including those that occur with less frequency. Vehicle insurance may have a semiannual

Family status could change during the course of the year, affecting the general cost of living. A job
change or a promotion could occur, creating an income variance, or a medical procedure requiring a
cash outflow above that of current health care payments could be on the horizon. There may be
economic changes, such as a change in interest rates or an increase in health care costs. While macro
factors cannot be predicted, they can be monitored. Many times there are indicators in the news
outlets, or notices from a mortgage company or employer, advising that a change is imminent.
Whether micro and macro factors are known ahead of time or unexpected, those changes are
incorporated in the operating budget (Siegel Yacht,
Fistfight In Heaven
Out of all of the short stories in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (TLR), none of
them are as bizarre as Distances . A story set in a post apocalyptic world where all the other races
died in a flood while the Native Americans kept refuge on top of the mountains. The setting itself
is rather strange for casual readers as it opens up a new perspective to the idea of a world being in
turmoil. As readers and consumers of media we are used to seeing only a selected few survive in
this kind of scenario rather than an entire race. This allows for Alexie to let his creativity really
run wild in this story. He decides to give this view from an Indians perspective through the use of
extremism. The setting alone is enough to show how extreme this scenario is made to be. However,
this is, in a way, necessary in order to show the relationship... Show more content on [Link]

The most reoccurring being the lost of technology. Our narrator references technology multiple
times throughout the short story and the impact it had on him. The first instance of this being a
transistor radio he finds in one of the old houses. This impacts him greatly as he was too scared to
turn it on... what would [he] hear? Farm reports, sports scores, silence? (105). Finding this radio
brings in the wonder and possibility of finding survivors or, what he may think of being worse, no
one to carry on the usage of technology. This is emphasized later on when he makes the comment
about the watch that was found by Judas WildShoe. The Narrator admits that he now has to measure
time with [his] breath and how he makes mistakes when counting (109). When readers see the way
how technology, for example, affects this new apocalyptic world they are instantly hooked to that
story. They can recognize the result of loosing technology and compare it with their own lives,
making the connection between reader and writer
Discuss the Postive and Negative Influences of Corporate...
The culture of an organisation can be seen as a set of core characteristics that are collectively
valued by all members of that organisation; and, corporate culture is believed to be a key element in
the success of any organisation (Visagie et al. 2002). Schein (2004) emphasises that organisational
cultures provide group members with a way of giving meaning to their daily lives, setting guidelines
and rules for how to behave and most important, reducing and containing the anxiety of dealing with
an unpredictable and uncertain environment. The aim of this paper is to provide a clear
demonstration of appropriate theoretical frameworks in relation to corporate culture; with the
concentration on analysing its positive and negative influences... Show more content on

Their importance stems from the link they are assumed to have with the deeper level of an
organisation s culture, of which they are generally thought to be indicators (Brown, 1998). Kemp
and Dwyer (2001) specifies the six major types of artefacts that can be distinguished rituals and
routines, stories, symbols, power structures, organisational structures and control systems. These
form the outer layer of the firm s cultural web , Kemp and Dwyer (2001, citing Johnson and
Scholes, 1997, pp. 69 74). Rituals and Routines: recurrent patterns of behaviour are a feature of
organisational life. The routine ways that members of the organisation behave towards each other
and towards those outside the organisation comprise the way we do things around here . The rituals
of organisational life are the special events through which the organisation emphasises what is
particularly important and reinforces the way we do things around here . The greetings of guests on
arrival and the checkout procedure in a hotel are examples of routines. Rituals include relatively
formal organisational processes such as training programs, appointment, promotion and assessment
procedures, and so on. Stories: these have long been recognised to be an integral feature of
organisational life. People tend to tell stories not just because the performance is itself enjoyable, but
in order to influence
Oil Palm Oil Rainforests
Palm Oil is quickly becoming world s most popular vegetable oil. Palm Oil needs warm, rich soil
to grow. The ideal place for them is in the Rainforests of countries like: Angola, Benin, Cameroon,
Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Indonesia, Liberia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
The Oil Palm trees can t grow in the rainforest because they are only small trees, which means that
they can t get enough light in the shadows of other trees. The Oil Palms grown best in hot and

producing the most Palm Oil. Palm oil is grown on large scale plantations.
The Theory Of Consciousness And The Scientific Processes
Processes and ideas are constantly changing, even evolving. This occurs across the entire spectrum
of most all environments with dynamics natures; within society, within religion, and within science.
More specifically, both the study and observation of consciousness and the scientific processes
allocated towards those ends have changed profoundly over time. It can also be observed that the
evolution of the study of consciousness parallels the development of the scientific method, to the
extent that an evaluation of the former can indicate the developmental position of the latter. This is
clearly evidenced throughout Miller s essay on the former topic, and the essay itself can be
interpreted as a chronology of the latter topic when approaching it from this viewpoint. The chief
elements that serve towards this end indicating the development of theories on consciousness and the
scientific processes behind them are societal and religious pressures, two elements that are
exceedingly prevalent in Miller s work.

Religion and society had large influences on the rate of development and, consequentially, the quality
of early theories of consciousness, in effect improving the former while markedly diminishing the
latter. Within the essay, there were many examples of societal pressures driving the likes of Mesmer,
Baron Dupotet, Elliotson and their historic counterparts into hurried and less than rational and less
than scientific studies and conclusions. For instance, at the opening
The Community Of A Virtual Village
As a part of the virtual village project volunteer, our aim was to research about our community
regarding necessities of older adults, their accessibility to healthcare, and overall what resources are
available for them that make their life easy to live. Our group decided to focus on Edgewater
Community to understand older adults needs. This servicelearningexperience has had a significant
impact on my professional development. During the experience, I had an opportunity meet with
many health professionals and community leaders in the EdgewaterCommunity. I learned about
many health professionals working to assist older population in the Edgewater community. For
example, On Nov 5th Thursday, I went to Care for Real food Pantry with my group members, and
met the Executive Director of the organization, Allen Lyle. Lyle provided some backgrounds of the
company and mentioned how the organization makes difference in senior s life.
Also, my communication skills have been improved during the service learning activity as I
interacted with healthcare leaders, participants, and group members. Ms. Monica Dillon provided
us instructions and guidelines to follow while contacting community leaders. In order to reach
leaders of the organization, we went over strategies and guidelines provided for contacting the
leaders and made sure to follow the steps. By reaching out to the organizations leaders and
interacting with them, I think I have also developed the skills of leadership for my

Most, if not all, journalists, musicians, and music buffs have a handful of obscure, or lesser
known bands they hold close to their heart. For me, one of those bands is VEX. I don t want to
give any preconceived notions by comparing them to another band, but what I will tell you is that
VEX is just as much an expression of art as they are an expression of music. Everything from their
music videos to the album artwork and from their live performances to the very last sound heard on
the record, has a rhyme and a reason.

Meritocracy In America
I was player 2 for Team C, and I was content with my position in the social structure. Although I did
not have as much money or property as Vincent (player 1), I had enough money to buy some
property and play the game comfortably. Because of my wealth, I made it to the end of the time limit.
My strategy for playing monopoly was to buy as much property as I can. Prior to the game I already
had Pennsylvania Avenue and Oriental Avenue. By the end of the game, I had also bought Baltic
Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, and Water Works. However, the moneyI spent on the properties was
not a smart investment because the players would not land on it frequently, and if they did, the rent
for the property was not a lot of money to make a large difference ... Show more content on

The idea of meritocracy in the United States is challenged in this version of monopoly as it was
very difficult to see anyone transcend their original social class. There are several factors that
contribute to the economic inequality; some of those factors are the achievement gap and school
tracking. The economic inequality is exacerbated if racial and economic stratification is also
studied alongside it. For example, the median income for blacks and Hispanics is much less
compared to white families. As mentioned before, one reason for this is the achievement gap.
Children from lower income families (which tend to be black or Hispanic families) do not
perform as well as children from higher income families (which tends to be white families).
Because of the large difference of income between low income families and high income families,
children from high income families can afford opportunities to retain the information that they
learn from tutors or participate in programs over the summer. The achievement gap also enables
school tracking which allows schools to separate students into tracks, or courses, based on their
academic achievement. Because of the division, white students tend to be in higher tracks
compared to black or Hispanic students who are placed in lower tracks. Due to the different
expectation for both tracks, the expectation and goals of students in the higher tracks are much
higher compared to students of the lower tracks. As a result, students of the higher track expect
themselves to take AP course or to complete college as compared to students on the lower track
who believe they won t be successful in college and will just get their high school diploma or drop
out of high
Setting Boundaries Dimarco Analysis
Setting boundaries is when someone marks their limits, determining how much their friends,
neighbors, family, and strangers can have access to in their life. I strongly believe that creating
boundaries is a crucial to do to be respected, protected, and stay healthy. Since I can remember, my
family has always instilled in me that having my own boundaries are essential because they are part
of self care. Thus, forming boundaries are fundamental for one s life because without them, anyone
can interfere and manipulate your life. Setting Boundaries is the title of an essay by DiMarco, in
which she discusses the differences of several kinds of boundaries. She states that boundaries are
either physically or physiologically. Physical boundaries being
Batman s Iteral Questions Response To The Reader
iteral questions have responses that are directly stated in the text. The reader is able to simply locate
the information and copy, paraphrase or summarize. (summarize, count, name, list, copy, record,

the main character? Where did they go on their vacation? What does Batman say to the Joker in
Chapter 1? What happens in this chapter? Inferential questions have responses that are indirectly
stated, implied, or require other information. The reader needs be able use the clues and make
connections to make meaning of the text (identify, classify, categorize, explain, predict, analyze). Ex.
