Analyzing The Dna Of Human Embryos Essay
Scientists today are developing ways to edit the DNA of human embryos. Although people think
the positives out shine the negatives when enhancing an embryos health chances, that is not
always the case socially when the child is born. Parents create this picture in their mind of the
perfect child that they want when they find out they are pregnant, this child most often times has
eyes as blue as the sky, blonde hair like sand at the beach, and a smile that lights up the world like
the sun. A dad wants a son to play football, but the son wants to do theatre; a mom wants a
daughter who does pageants, but the daughter wants to be a boxer. When these details start
developing in a couples mind they can get selfish. Parents can develop a child to have the
characteristics they want them to have; however, that does not mean that is who the child will
be. The children in these cases do not have a say in what they should have, they are not even
created yet. Parents can be eager and obsessed with a child who has the best features and
capability to do whatever it is the parents wants them to do. The spread of what citizens are
calling designer babies should have limits to what guardians can choose to improve health chances
is a right choice but enhancing all a child s characteristics is all wrong. Doctors encourage parents
to edit the DNA of their child if it is necessary for the survival of the child. For Amanda and Bradley
Kalinsky, the possibility of their child getting her
Technology Revealed In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The Consequences of Technology Revealed in Shelley s Frankenstein In Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein, written in the late nineteenth century, the author proposes that knowledge and
technology can be dangerous to individuals and all of humanity. Frankenstein was one of the first
cautionary tales about scientific research. Shelley s novel offers profound insight of the
consequences of morally insensitive scientific and technological research. Learn from me. . . at
least by my example, how dangerous is the acquirement of knowledge and how much happier that
man is who believes his native town to be the world, than he who aspires to become greater than
his nature will allow (Shelley 101) The popular belief of how Frankenstein came to be written
derives from Shelley herself, who explains in an introduction to the novel that she, her husband
Percy Shelly, and Lord Byron set themselves the task of creating ghost stories during a short
vacation at a European villa. According to Shelley, the short story she conceived was predicated of
the notion as the eighteenth became the nineteenth century that electricity could be a catalyst of
life. In her introduction she recalls the talk about Erasmus Darwin, who had preserved a piece of
vermicelli in a glass case, till by some extraordinary means it began to move with voluntary motion,
(Joseph vii). The extraordinary means forms the basis for Frankenstein. Many people also believe
that a
Irony In Enemies
The Irony in these two stories is initially expressed by their titles. At the Beginning of Enemies,
Jensen and Strunk are violently opposed to one another althoguh they are fighting on the same side
of a brutal war. At the end of Friends, although Jensen didn t take action to kill Strunk, he is relieved
rather than aggrieved to learn of Strunk s death, although the two are supposed to now be friends.
These stories represent the war s view on friendship, and how distorted that emotion becomes. O
Brian implements ironyin Enemies is to show how in war even friends can or will become enemies.
They are fighting for the same side, yet make each other into enemies. The second chapter is titled
Friends, but Jensen s deeper thoughts convey that they

Essay about Rattlesnakes of the Southwest
Rattlesnakes of the Southwest
Rattlesnakes are very common in North America; they mainly range from Arkansas to Southern
California. Rattlesnakes as most people known use a rattle, located at the ends of their tail, to warn
people of their location. Rattlesnakes are from the Pit Viper family of snakes. They use pits located
in their head to sense heat from prey or predators. Some rattlesnakes can sense heat from a mouse
from as far as twelve feet away. Some common rattlers of the southwest are the Western
Diamondback, Mohave, Sidewinder, and Prairie Rattlesnakes. All snakes listed are of the Genus
Crotalus; which is the most common among rattlesnakes.

The main tale tale sign of the Mohave is that it is green in color.
The reason for this is so it can hunt in trees; where it lies in wait to ambush small birds. The Mohave
contributes to the most deaths in the southwest than any other rattler. Mohave Rattlesnakes are
considered a non aggressive rattlesnake, but yet as mentioned before they are the most venomous
rattlesnakes, comparable to cobras.
Sidewinders are the most intriguing of all rattlesnakes. They zip across sand leaving a side winding
trail behind. The reason they wind is to minimize the amount of their body that comes in contact with
the ground; which is normally sand and very hot to the touch. If Sidewinders did not use this method
of winding their body temperature would get to high. Sidewinders yield a small amount of venom,
normally about 20 35 mg. A lethal dose is around 50 mg, which most Sidewinders are incapable of
carrying. There are one species of and two subspecies of Sidewinder Rattlesnakes, the Colorado
Sidewinder, The Sonoran Sidewinder and the Desert Sidewinder.
Prairie Rattlesnakes (also known as Western Rattlesnakes) have subspecies as well; they include the
Grand Canyon Rattlesnake, the Hopi Rattlesnake, the Arizona Black Rattlesnake, and the Great
Basin Rattlesnake. These snakes are mainly found in or around Arizona. The Arizona Black is
normally found at elevations above 6000 feet. They are black in color, which helps them to absorb
All Hail the King Essay
All Hail the King
Who wears the pants in their relationship? someone may ask about a couple. In the short story By
the River by Jack Hodgins, Jim Styan is definitely the one wearing the pants and is in charge of
most, if not all, matters regarding him and his wife s life. In essence, Jim is the King of the jungle,
or more appropriately put, he is the King of the Canadian wilderness. The balance of power in some
relationships isn t always an even fifty fifty split. Sometimes, one of the partners has most, if not
complete, control of the relationship. Unfortunately,
Jim and Crystal Styan s relationship is a prime example of the presence of ill balanced relationships
around the world.

She lets Jim talk her first out of the classroom and then right off the island of her birth and finally
up here into the mountains to pursue his dream (pg 130, 133). All in all, it is extremely evident that
Jim plays a very big role in this relationship and decides everything and anything while Crystal
stands by and succumbs to everything he says.
Adding on to Jim Styan s complete dominance in his relationship with
Crystal, he is also exceptionally disloyal. Time after time, Jim fails in fulfilling his dream of
becoming a farmer, but Crystal is always supportive of him no matter how badly he fouls up. Jim
is so ungrateful that when Crystal put a hand on his shoulder to comfort him when the sway
backed old Jersey cow disappeared into the bush he shook it off as if she is the one that failed
him (pg 133). Even though Jim has dragged her from place to place always looking and looking
for his dream and for that dream and for him she had suffered Crystal Styan has never though of
leaving Jim and that miserable place (pg 133). Perhaps it is because he can no longer stand his own
failure, the treacherous and ungrateful Jim left the unsuspecting Crystal all alone in the mountains
with no one to care for her. Even after Jim s unannounced departure six months
2-Naphthol Lab Report
Objective In this experiment, the pKa, dissociation constant, of 2 naphthol was determined by
measuring the UV visible absorption spectra of solution of the acid at different pH values.
Procedure In this experiment, solutions of 2 naphthol will be prepared in buffer solutions with
pH values near the expected pKa (refer to Table 7.1 in the lab Manual) at 25 °C and the UV
visble spectra of each solution will be measured using a Cary 50 spectrometer. For detailed
procedure, refer to the lab manual (J. F. Wójcik and T. S. Ahmadi, Experimental Physical Chemistry,
2015; p.3 5.). A modification of the procedure is, time drift of the pH was not calculated. The pH of
the pH = 4.00 buffer was not measured every 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Data 2 naphthol has a molecular weight of 144.17 g/mol, with a density of 1.22 g/cm3. The
melting point of 2 naphthol is in the range of 121 to 123 °C. The stock solution of 2 naphthol has a
concentration of 1.9844E 3 M.
Results Before any calculations, the spectra from the HCl solution and NaOH solution was verified
to make sure that the wavelength at which the deprotonated form of 2 naphthol absorbs at 345 nm
and that protonated form does not absorb significantly at the same wavelength. All the spectra in
Figure 1 were baseline corrected using the HCl solution spectrum, shown in Figure 2, and the NaOH
solution spectrum was used to determine Amax at 345 nm. To calculate the pHC of each trial
solution, the concentration of every ion in the
The King And Queen Of Monsters
Your fingers flew across the keyboard of your laptop, so a crisp clicking noise echoed through the
quiet café. You stopped for a second to skim your eyes over the text you just wrote. You were
documenting your opinion about the recent meeting that the King and Queen of monsters had
with the officials. It hadn t turned out well. The officials were stiff and stubborn. Refusing to
even listen to their requests. You heaved a heavy sigh and picked up your coffee cup, turning it in
your hands as you allowed your mind to wander. It had been just a few months since the monsters
moved to the surface, and as suspected, some people weren t taking very well. Except for a group
called the MRO. It stood for the Monster Rights Organization, it was a small group started by the
Human Ambassador of the monsters (and the King and Queen) in hopes of getting more rights
and supporters for the monsters. Not many people had joined, but you were one of the
exceptions. Hoping to keep a low profile (but still be a help), you started an anonymous blog
where you spread the word about monster rights and helped to encourage people to take a stand.
You were brought out of your thoughts by the ringing of a bell. You turned to see two monsters
walk into the café. You almost dropped your coffee. They were skeletons. Moving (alive?)
skeletons. This was your first time actually seeing a monster in person. Normally you kept your
distance and watched the events and meetings on TV. You tried to act casual
Daniel Morg The Father Of Old Wagoneer
The topic of this research is about a man who has been mostly forgotten by most people in
America today, but helped shaped the outcome of the American revolution and holds his own
compared to those who are remembered. Even with a few such as James Graham to say that After
examining all the sources of information within my reach, I became convinced that few, if any,
of the heroes of that day furnished larger contributions than he did to the glory of our arms, or
surpassed him in the amount and value of their services. This man he highly speaks of is Daniel
Morgan, or know by his nickname of Old Wagoneer for his past work as a Teamster, which was a
person who drove a wagon filled with goods and products from town to town, their version of truck
drivers for that... Show more content on [Link] ...
Daniels early life was normal until when he turned 17 years old, that when he left his home
following a fight with his father, resulting him having a bunch of odd jobs in Pennsylvania. But
eventually settling in Virginia where he worked cleaning land, in a sawmill, and as a teamster.
After a while he saved enough money to start his own business of teamster, and served during the
French and Indian war, with his cousin Daniel Boone. During the French/Indian war Daniel
Morgan acquired his hatred for the British Army, because after punching his superior officer,
resulting in 499 lashes to the back, usually a fatal sentence, before we go on can we just stop and
just appreciate how badass this is and how there hasn t been a movie about this man yet. But as I
was saying this event pushed him to join the militia to help protect people from any treat that came
their way, be it British, French, or Indians. Which he served as a rifleman in the provincial forces
assigned to protect the western settlers from French backed Indians raids. Such in the Dunmore s
war in 1774, which were failed raids by the Shawnee people in the Ohio country because of Daniel

I would like to become a moderator because I think I have most of the main qualities which a

My hacks knowledge will really help me out in Moderating. Reach is very easy to identify as it
involves players hitting from distances where hits would most likely, always be impossible.
However, reach sometimes could be mistaken as a combo. Kill aura is a hack which enables the
player to hit a player without aiming at them; this also includes constant hitting of the player
without stop. X Ray is detected when a player is constantly looking at a certain direction (Most of
the time, down) to find rare ores to gain an unfair advantage over other players. Bow Aim bot is
quite easy to identify as soon as the player pulls back the bow, it locks their view on the player to

Child Labor In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
Do you enjoy being young and privileged? Do you enjoy being able to play as much as you want?
How does it feel, not having spend your childhood working in a factory? You have the chance to
live freely, be a kid, go places, hangout with your friends, etc. Unfortunately, life wasn t that easy in
the victorian period.
In the Victorian Period, the workforce and the economy gained profit off of child labor. Most kids
were forced into child labor during the Victorian Period. Other kids had to help take care of their
families. The government allowed child labor because it brought success into the economy.
Children had tons of energy, they were susceptible, or gullible, and they lacked the ability to revolt
against injustices (child labor).
In the book, Oliver spends most of his days working in return of small meals, no education, and a ...

He, himself, was apart of and took heed in the Industrial Revolution. The reason being was to put
an end to child labor once and for all. Many of his works, including Oliver Twist, deals with the
issue of child labor. For example, in Oliver Twist, Dickens brings out the plight of the children
during his experience.
In Oliver Twist, Dickens wrote The deep remembrance ............. of the misery it was to my young
heart to believe that day by day, what I had learned and thought and delighted in and raised my fancy
and emulation up by was passing away from me......... cannot be written. As a child labour, he would
dine on a slice of pudding and for his twelve hour daily labour, receive a meager wage of six
shillings a week (Oliver Twist).
In a biography journal about Dickens, a passage states that His early life is a current element in
most of his novels. The bitter experiences of his childhood helped him to empathize his topics. The
main problems Dickens mentioned in Oliver Twist were the deplorable conditions of children in the
Victorian
