Title: - Operational Control Procedure for Material Loading & Unloading

Purpose: -To establish safe operating procedures in order to control and minimize the damage to
human life, health, company property and environment in the event of occurrence of or an
impending incident for electrical fire, short circuit, Human accidents etc.

Responsibility: - HR Head/ Safety Officer.

Preparation and Planning:


 Define Responsibilities: Assign roles and responsibilities to personnel involved in
loading and unloading operations, including supervisors, operators, and safety officers.
 Review Requirements: Understand the specific requirements for each type of material
being loaded or unloaded, including weight limits, handling precautions, and
environmental considerations.
 Equipment Check: Ensure all loading and unloading equipment (forklifts, cranes, pallet
jacks, etc.) are inspected and certified for use.
1. Safety Protocols:
 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Mandate the use of appropriate PPE As per PPE
matrix GNT/SF/D/04
 Traffic Management: Establish clear gangways in the shop floor to prevent collisions and
ensure safe movement of material movement forklift, pallets, trolley and personnel.
 Emergency Procedures: Outline procedures for responding to emergencies such as
spills, accidents, or equipment malfunctions.
2. Loading Procedures:
 Documentation: Verify and document the condition and quantity of materials before
loading.
 Loading Sequence: follow the loading sequence to optimize space utilization and ensure
loading of material as per requirement. Follow the Wi for loading & unloading
GNT/SF/WI/04
3. Unloading Procedures:
 Location Verification: Confirm the location and readiness of the unloading area before
initiating unloading operations.
 Unloading Sequence: Establish a sequence for unloading to maintain efficiency and
prevent congestion. Follow the WI for Loading & Unloading GNT/SF/WI/04.
 Handling Precautions: Handle materials with care, especially fragile or hazardous items,
following established protocols.
4. Quality Assurance:
 Inspection: Conduct inspections before and after loading/unloading to verify compliance
with quality standards and safety protocols.

5. Communication and Coordination:
 Communication Channels: Establish clear communication channels between operators,
supervisors, and other relevant personnel throughout the loading and unloading
operations.
6. Training and Continuous Improvement:
 Training Programs: Provide training to personnel on proper loading and unloading
techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, and emergency response to worker
for better adherence of prevention in accidents.
 Feedback and Review: Regularly review the OCP based on feedback, incidents, or
changes in regulations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary
updates.
