Robin Williams Minotaur Meaning
Whoever fights [minotaurs] should see to it that he does not become a [minotaur]. And if you gaze
into the [labyrinth] long enough, the [labyrinth] will gaze back at you. In Greek mythology, the
minotaur is a mythical beast that lives in the Crete labyrinth. Many were sent into the labyrinth and
killed by the minotaur; however, the young hero Theseus managed to slay the beast, armed with a
sword to fight and ball of twine to find his way out. By using the twine to retrace his steps, Theseus
was able to find liberation from the labyrinthafter slaying his minotaur. Robin Williams sense of
identity towards the end of his life relates significantly to the notion of freedom and liberation in
defiance and control of self found within the Jewish... Show more content on [Link] ...
According to Frankl s framework of logotherapy, it is the constant yearning and search for
meaning that has the power to emancipate. The humanistic approach to finding meaning allows
people the liberty to create deeper and more enriched lives through aspects such as work
(Pattakos, 2010). This type of significance is displayed through Robin Williams life work as an
actor. Throughout his life, Williams battled with addictions and depression that ultimately took
the toll on him; however, during his life he constantly worked to enrich other s lives from honesty
and raw portrayals, to lighthearted comedy through film and television (Nanos, 2014; Rochlen,
2014). Movie blogger, Britton Richter (2013), stated in an article after Robin s death that he ...
genuinely would not be pursuing and working toward the goals that I currently have if it wasn t
for [Robin Williams] . The impact that Robin Williams had through his body of work affected
countless people, allowing him to create meaning through other s experiences of his work. This
search for meaning is paralleled by Ari Heber, a Reform Jew. Ari s sense of meaning is formed
through the cardinal teachings of Judaism that are centred around acts and deeds, rather than
theology. Heber finds meaning through his faith within which he assists others. He stated that it is
just through fulfilment of what you re doing it becomes part of your life (Heber, 2015). As a theory,
logotherapy approaches psychotherapy with spirituality as the starting point of consciousness. Thus,
logotherapy proceeds from the spiritual individual (Tweedie, 1961). When viewing work as an
expression of one s own mind, body and spirit, Ari can create deeper meaning through the personal
labyrinth of his work (Pattakos, 2010). Meaning created through the framework of logotherapy and
through work can assist in forming an individual s
An Epic Of Old Mali
History often times never really comes from the proverbial horse s mouth, but rather from written
testimonies require translation, or verbal traditions passed down through generations. Both forms
have their own strengths and weakness . Oral histories are often influenced by culture, plus religious
beliefs affect the way the historyis told. Primary sources are often times influenced by the author s
own culture, as well as the motive they have for creating the record of the time. One I not better
than the other. Rather, each can be used for different lenses of analysis into different periods of time
and research.
Oral histories may come in many forms. Music depicting a decade long war, or nighttime stories
warning children from the animals of the night around them, as well as epics chronicling the rise
of a great king. Sudiata: An Epic of Old Mali gives a glimpse into many aspects about the ideals,
beliefs, values and culture of the people who originally told the story. Concerning the values of
Mali, the characteristics the teller s portray for their king are telling about what is considered
necessary qualities for a good king and warrior. Sundiata was born crippled, unable to walk, but
showed incredible strength in his arms early in life, a sign for the strength he would grow into
later. He also demonstrates enormous skill and bravery in battle, qualities deemed ideal in a
warrior. A good warrior is not the only characteristic seen as definitive for Sundiata, but also a

Developing Countries 09/02/2012 Abstract The Third World was a term coined to distinguish
nations that neither aligned with the First World developed countries nor the Second World
Communist Countries during the Cold War. However, modern day usage denotes countries with low
Human Development Index (HDI) that suffer from political, social and economic underdevelopment.
The United Nations finds Third World term slightly pejorative and prefers the label less developed
countries (LDCs). Terminology notwithstanding, LDCs suffer from underdevelopment and poverty.

People were killed, beaten and raped by the newly formed militias. The fighting disrupted food
production and famine spread through the region. Many foreign countries attempted to intervene
by supplying food and medical supplies but the clans refused to allow any outside interference. In
2006, the Islamic Army began fighting the warlords in an attempt to restore government.
However, Somalis were undecided on the Islamic ideas and restoration attempts failed.
Sociological Perspective Somali population is filled with large groups of nomads and refugees
seeking security away from the clans and famine. Due to all the movement it is difficult to
estimate the population accurately. The last know official count was gathered by the Somali
Government in 1975. Today, the best estimate that takes the 1975 data in account illustrates the
population at approximately 10 million people. (CIA, 2012). The average life expectancy for
males is 48 years and women are only slight greater at 52 years. Compared to the United States
average life expectancy of 78, it is fair to say the Somali have a difficult and short life. While
living, it is impossible to find work. Jobs are scarce and tend to rely on livestock or farming.
However, even farming has been increasingly impossible since global trade has imported foreign
agriculture that under cuts domestic farmers. This import presents a burden for the Somali people
because they
Monsanto White Gold Pet Child
Webster s Dictionary definition of profit is the compensation accruing to entrepreneurs for the
assumption of risk in business enterprise as distinguished from wages or rent. Businesses run off
of risk in order to make huge amounts of money. They trust the consumers to buy their products or
services. They trust their suppliers with materials they need. They also trust the efficiency of their
production line. Some businesses are so obsessed with the profits they gain that many people s
lives are put at risk. The agricultural industry, Monsanto, does a great job at creating genetically

collapsed. It was promised that insects would be fought. But they developed a tolerance after a

poor farmers. One thing the farmers don t realize is that there is no diversity within the seeds that
allow the seed to develop it s own defenses or success rate. Diversity allows the strongest seed to
reproduce and make more seeds with even stronger characteristics. GMOs try to do this
artificially which lead to their downfall every time. Suppose a farmer learned this and decides not
to purchase any more of these seeds, Professor Zongo also stated that, If a farmer doesn t follow
the flow and refuses to adapt the GMOs, they are cut from fertilizers and can t sell their products.

Agrarian Ideals And The Ideal Size And Role Of Government
America has a long history of agrarian thought that has resulted in a variety of agrarian ideals.
Agrarian ideals first developed after J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur published Letters from an
American History. He focused on a vision of American identity and agrarian ideals by contrasting
America with Europe. In addition, John Taylor of Caroline, Virginia born, delivers his vision of
agriculturebeing the source of happiness of Americans through Arator. Contrarily, Alexander
Hamilton provided an opposing point of view, in Report on the Subject of Manufactures, stating that
America should march towards an industrialized society. Despite the fact that these three lived
during the same time period, 1700s 1800s, the political visions that grounded Crevecoeur s and
Taylor s agrarian ideals differed drastically from Hamilton s.
One way in which this difference can be seen is by comparing the three authors beliefs on the ideal
size and role of government. J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur and John Taylor represents different
types of Americans that have a similar agrarian model based off of their political visions.
Crèvecoeur stated in Letters from an American History, On it [America] is founded our rank, our
freedom, our power, as citizens; our importance as inhabitants of such a district. [1] Being born in
Europe, Crèvecoeur had witness disdain of the poor. In Europe, the lower income population would
be referred as the poor. There have always been a big gap between the
Gustave Flaubert Writing Style
The 1800 s was a century of change. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were
still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands
across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many
of their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy
named Gustave Flaubertcaught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts,
and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day.
As an article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward
writing style, filled with the ideal of realism:

Felicite, as explained at the very beginning of the story, was known for her cleanliness, making
people all around them envy Madame Aubaine for her choice of servant. Though Madame
Aubaine s story is interesting in itself, the story of Felicite is not only one of importance to the
story but also to our understanding of these times in general. Her father and mother were both
killed when she was very young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to
find work. Most places where she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her
vulnerable to physical and verbal abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship,
and though she did end up loving him he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to
marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to
work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame
Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the
loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained in the story, when Felicite s nephew left
for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping a letter from him would arrive soon.
The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was alright was something that those who
knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people lost loved ones to this voyage as
Felicite did. Without the instant communication and
What Does The Poem Represent The Hardship Of Child Labor...
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience represent the hardship of child labor during the mid
1800 s. The two stories are about chimney sweepers who have an awful life. The comparison of
emotions and situations for the two boys in Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience shows
their hope, religion, and the way their stories end. In Songs of Innocence the chimney sweeper
had an overall positive outlook on life but has a bittersweet ending. The boy had a dream showing
him that eventually one day he will be with all his friends enjoying a happy life and no misery. The
chimney sweeper describes his vision, of all his friends in coffins of black and an angel came by to
free them ( L. 11 14 ). This quote shows that one day he will be able to be back with all his passed
friends and have no worries. The chimney sweeper has a religious outlook on his belief. In the
dream the angel says, He d have God for his father never want... Show more content on

The boy seemed to have no hope of things getting better, but instead he puts a face on to make it
seem he is happy. As stated by the boy, They think they have done no injury (L. 9 10 ). His parents
assume that he is happy because he is smiling and dancing but he is actually in misery. The boy
has no religious connection with church or God of any kind, and he seems to blame everything
bad happening on that and his parents. The little boy explains that his parents have gone off to
church and pray while he is out working ( L. 3 4 ). The little boys parents did not care about him
at all, because as they were at church he was working bringing in an income. Songs of Experience
ends off with the little boy saying that it is the Kings, God, and his Priest fault. The little boy
exclaims his anger, God and his Priest and King, Who make up a heaven of our misery (L. 11 12 )
He did not have a bittersweet or sweet ending but instead he had sad and depressing
The Ever-Changing Penny
Recently, there has been news regarding the debate of the penny. The U.S. and Canadian government
believe that the penny is a nuisance and takes up space in cabinets and dressers. They believe that
the penny should be taken out of the system. However the penny is a great influence on American
culture, yet it causes a fortune to manufacture a single one. In the first place, the pennyshould be kept
as American currency because of the great impact it holds. For instance in the article, The Ever
Changing Penny, the author states, The history of a penny reveals... a piece of American culture.
The one cent piece has influenced our language... such as a penny for your thoughts (Story 5).

Although this may be true, according to The Ever Changing Penny, the text states, In 2011, it
cost... 2.4 cents to produce one penny... production costs are slightly lower today... just over 1.8
cents to produce (Story 5). As a result under this piece of evidence, the price of the penny is
lowering every few years. The materials used to construct the penny could be changed to more
common and cheap metals. An equally important piece of information comes from the article Penny
Wise, or 2.4 Cents Foolish?, where Sommer states, The mint defer to Congress, and Congress hasn t
told it to abolish the penny. Lawmakers have directed the mint to study ways to make small coins
more cheaply (Sommer 3). Provided the information, the mint has tried to reach out the Congress in
hopes of getting an answer, yet the Congress never made a decision. In hope that the U.S. Mint does
believe that they can create more efficient pennies with cheaper materials, than the U.S. will keep the

Nepal s Effect On India
Background
Nepal s geography has made Nepal economically dependent on India as it is surrounded on three
sides by India and on one (to its north) with the Himalayan range and the region of Tibet. After the
devastating earth quake in Nepal, the country was hit by another humanitarian crisis this time due to
a blockade at a crucial crossing on the border with India, which halted oil and other essential supplies
landlocked Nepal obtains from its giant neighbor. The unveiling of a new constitution in late
September sparked tensions between the Madhesi ethnic group and the government. The Madhesi

And blockade of essential supplies with complete support of Indian government. Nepalese security
had requested that it would protect truck drivers entering Nepal from the Indian border. But Indian
custom officials has blocked supplies saying it s an order from above as in the Indian government.
So, those to blame were Madhesi leaders, Indian government for supporting them and lastly Indian
news and media giving completely biased information.
Effects of the Blockade
Nepal Oil Corporation had instructed fuel stations to stop selling petrol and diesel to vehicles
bearing private registration numbers. The Nepali government was allowing people to drive only
on alternate days and had asked people to use charcoal and firewood for cooking. It was like going
back to the stone age where daily food had to be cooked in firewood. Only army trucks, and those
carrying medical and essential supplies are being exempted. Efforts were also ongoing to reopen
trading routes with China that had remained blocked because of huge landslides since the
devastating earthquake in April 2015. On 29 September 2015, Kathmandu Airport the only
International Airport in the country issued an advisory to international airlines to carry extra fuel
after suspending refueling facility due to acute fuel shortage. As a result, many international flights
had to been cancelled. In the midst of the major festival season,
My Internship Analysis
This summer I had the chance to take on a great challenge. I completed 120 hours for my
internship while at the same time working as fulltime employee. I truly mean it when I say it was
a great challenge. In only 2 months I completed 120 hours in an office that was only open 8 5
Monday through Friday. I know it may seem reasonable to others and you might even ask why
that would be something so difficult for me to do but it was very tough. You see, I work my total
of 40 hours a week at my current job and to add more hours to my schedule seemed pretty
exhausting. Unfortunately, I am not as privileged as other to have an amazing schedule like 8 to 5
or weekends off. I work overnight. Now everyone knows usually the night shift is more relaxed in...

I not only learned about the procedures for child support but I also learned things that will help in
any career that I decide to get into. I learned about proper communication skills. During my time
at the office I watched how communication was very important. Our communication skills can
help in many things and one major thing is to calm a person down, express compassion, give
assurance. I witnessed several clients going into the offices very bothered and frustrated with
their cases or some would even come in sad and disappointed but the office staff knew how to
communicate properly with them and assure them of any concerns they had. Another thing I
learned is multi tasking. The office was all about multi tasking and doing things fast. I realized
that I need to work on my typing in order to type faster. Since I am interested in office work I do
need to type faster than I do now. Regarding multi tasking, I had to document, file, and place in
order all the paperwork for files that needed to be ready for court. I had to have over 4 programs
open on my desktop to look for photos and files that needed to be printed and also programs
where I had to notate what changes were done to the case or the latest update on the file. I also
learned to proper documentation and filing. I had to constantly document any changes I made to
each file. Each documentation was detailed and had to have a date the change was made, what was
the change, and who made the change. I also learned the importance of confidentiality. During my
time at the office they were very clear on how confidentiality is their number one priority. Due to
keeping everything confidential, it was a major rule at the office that anyone who stood and left their
office station must lock their computers. All documents that were printed out by mistake or double
and that were not going to be used had to

The Ten Commandments

The movie the author would like to critique is probably one of the greatest movies of all time. The
movie is The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brenner, and Cecil B. DeMille. If
the author were a real critic like Gene Siskel, and Roger Ebert, she would give this movie two
thumbs up. The author will probably be giving her, interpretation of this movie all the way through
this paper because she feels that in order to understand what s being critiqued you have to
understand the movie. Of course this is a movie that the author has seen a number of times, and
every time she views it she finds something that ... Show more content on [Link] ...
For some reason back in the fifties the bible was a good source for movies, and you have to
understand one of the reasons will be found in the strength of genre movies. For the director, there
were certain advantages with working within a given genre. Because the characters, the plot, and
the conventions were already established, they provided the director with a kind of cinematic
shorthand greatly simplified the task of storytelling. (Boggs, M., Petrie, D., 2008 7th Ed.) The
original movie was shot in 1923 as a silent film which was also directed by Cecil Demille. The cast
of the 1956 remake of the Ten Commandments were cast from the original silent film. The
production of this film was good for that time period. The production crew had it easy when it came
to the cast, due to most of the cast came from the original film from 1923. The props, scene, and
setting that the production crew used were great, for an example in the film Ten Commandments, the
scene with Moses bringing down the ten commandments from the mountain top after talking with
God. When you look at that scene the production crew does a good job with the dark clouds and the
fire like orange colors in the setting of the clouds. The mountain that was in the back ground of
Moses really stood out in that scene, when Moses gave the ten commandment to the children of
Israel, he stood on the mountain and with his red over garment blowing in the wind

The Stonewall Act Of Stonewall
Stonewall is known as the riot that kickstarted the movement for gay rights in America in 1969.
Throughout the 1960 s the gay community was targeted for their homosexual activities because this
went against the common beliefs of the people. Most of the population had the Christian belief that
being interested in the same sex was against God s will. This caused discrimination throughout the
nation between members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender plus (LGBT+) community
and the rest of the country. Due to this discrimination, many LGBT+ members felt like their rights
were being violated by the government. On June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan, New

The police saw these as valid reasons to arrest the people there and quickly began ushering them
outside. Some were told to wait by the sidewalk, while others were being pushed into toward
police vehicles. The police force was not as coordinated as they had hoped to be that night. There
were very few police vehicles in the area and the backup cars were supposed to already be at
Stonewall, waiting. So, patrons were required to wait in line for about 15 minutes, (The
Stonewall Inn). When nearby people noticed the large crowd outside Stonewall, they came over
to see what was going on. The crowd had grown much larger than just the bar patrons being
arrested or let go, when the backup vehicles finally arrived. By this time, the Stonewall
community had grown agitated. The Stonewall were ready to fight back. Some reports say a
scuffle broke out when a lesbian in handcuffs was escorted to the police wagon, (The Stonewall
Inn). Others say it was a male drag queen who stopped in the doorway between the officers and
posed defiantly, (Socialist Alternative). No one can say with certainty what started the riot, but
violence quickly broke out. First, the crowd started flinging loose coins at the officers. This change
was replaced with items found littering the area around them. They threw beer bottles and rocks at
the officers. Some of the crowd stopped throwing these items, and tried to tip over a police vehicle.
When that did not work, they began throwing spare bricks
