Objectives Of Management By Objectives
A good management system is essential to run an organization effectively. One main strategy to run
a good management system is through the use of a famous management module, management by
objectives (MBO) that proposed by Peter Drucker (Drucker, 1954). This module has remained
popular and compelling method for achieving goals. As Daft (2012) explained, managementby
objectives is a system whereby managers and the employees define goals for every department,
project, and use them to monitor the organization s subsequent performance (p. 194). The
management by objectives is a management ideology which is used by Peter Drucker who states
that the management based on setting up objectives and self control are understood as a philosophy
of management (Kralev, 2011). Management by objectives is... Show more content on

After setting the organizational objectives as explained in the first step previously, the objectives
planned now are easily converted into marketing or organizational plan which then require to be
distributed into different individual sections within the organization (Daft, 2012). In addition, this
step involves the accurate setting of performance standard for the subordinates in a previously
arranged time period. While developing an organizational action plan, there are few things that need
consideration. Subsequently, as described by Kralev (2011) which enlightened that both superiors
and subordinates need to refer the organizations mission and vision in order to ensure that the action
plan developed later align with the organizations current objectives. In addition, Aswathappa (2007),
explained that managers or the superiors are alarmed about their subordinates performance and they
are ready to observe or to take action on what they are supposed to do. As the top management set an
action plan to achieve their targeted objectives which their subordinates are going to implement,

The Effects Of The First Opium Trade
Introduction
The East India Company was established by the British and then monopolized the trades towards the
China. As the trades could not fulfil the ambition of the British, they requested for more benefits.
However, the Qing court rejected and the relationship between the two countries came to a rapid
deterioration. Unfortunately, after the out broke of the war, China became weaker than before.
The following will discuss the relationship between Britain and China by how opium trade appeared
and the effects of opium trade. Moreover, the consequences of the First opium war and how it shaped
the relationship of Anglo China will be mentioned.
Main body
The Qing dynasty forbidden sea trade until the emperor Kangxi unified China from the Ming dynasty
in 1684. He then set up eleven ports for trading, including in Guangzhou, Macau, Ningbo, Xiamen,
Shanghai, Fuzhou, Chongqing, ... Show more content on [Link] ...
However, the importation of opium was hard to avoid as the profit was huge. In 1767, 1,000
chests of opium were imported. At 1780, one chest opium valued 500 to 600 Spanish dollars.
Sometimes, one chests of opium valued 2,000 Spanish dollars in 1837. In 1837, there were over
30,000 chests of opium exported to China.
In 1730s, the British discovered that the trade deficit of tea was in a large amount. From below
one million pounds, to the late 18 century reached to 20 million pounds. The Qing court members
were bribed to let the company sell opium and the outflow of silver taels caused as the price of
opium was expensive. The opium trade could offset the trade deficit, so the British traders could
convey the surplus profit back to England. The Britain was fulfilled by the huge profit making and
wanted to get more from China the conservatives did not agree to fully prohibit opium as to maintain
a peaceful relationship with
Patience Is A Forgotten Quality
Patience seems to be a forgotten quality. Most of us have trouble waiting in a line to purchase
tickets, for the traffic lights to change, or for the driver to pick us up from school. We are familiar
with the saying, Patience is a virtue , but do we really understand the meaning behind it? The
dictionary defines patience as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without
getting angry or upset. This is one way to put it, but it also has a deeper meaning. The word
patience means the willingness to stay in the present and live the situation out to the full in the belief
that something special will manifest itself to us at the right time. Patience is the ability to remain
calm and wait for something even if it takes a... Show more content on [Link] ...
By the time Beowulf arrives on the shores of Hrothgar s kingdom, Grendel has been harassing
Herot for quite some time. He hunts only at night and kills soldiers in their sleep in the Hall and
taking even more back to his lair. Beowulf get s word of this from his home in Geatland, and
makes the decision to sail to Hrothgar s kingdom to assist him in defeating Grendel. Heard how
Grendel filled nights with horror And quickly commanded a boat fitted out, Proclaiming that he d
go to that famous king, Would sail across the sea to Hrothgar, Now when help was needed (pg 44
lines 110 116). Through these lines, Beowulf is expressing that the reason, or motivation, behind
him sailing to Hrothgar s kingdom to defeat Grendel is to save Hrothgar s people from the horrors
that Grendel is inflicting upon them. Due to this quote, it is clear that Beowulf s motive for
fighting Grendel was to help save the people of Denmark from the monster. After defeating
Grendel, Beowulf must fight Grendel s Dam to avenge the death of Aeschere, which is told
through Burton Raffel s translation of the epic poem, Beowulf. Beowulf sails from his homeland
to Hrothgar s kingdom in Denmark to save Hrothgar s people from the monster Grendel. However,
when Beowulf wins victory over Grendel, Grendel s Dam is angered. Therefore, that night, Grendel
s Dam travels to Herot and kills Hrothgar s dear friend, Aeschere. Hrothgar is

Example Of A Femme Fatale
A femme fatale, a French term for fatal woman (Schimkowitz, 2014), is a strong willed,
manipulative woman who is as alluring as she is dangerous. She is an irresistibly attractive woman
who leads a man into difficult and dangerous situations with her seductive charms (Blakely, 2014).
They used to be physically characterized as fierce sexing looking women with sharp eyeliners. This
female archetype has been in existence since ancient times all around the world.
The first example of a femme fatale in this paper is Veda Pierce (Ann Blyth) in Mildred Pierce,
which was released in 1945, when many American soldiers returned from World War II. During
the WWII period, women were the main providers for their families while American men were at
war, which led to increase independent American women. Mildred Pierce, the mother of Veda, is
one of the strong women who is working hard to support herself and her children. In contrast to
her mother s effort, Veda takes advantage of her mother s kindness and money. She also betrays
her by having an affair with Monte Beragon, who is already married to her mother. Veda has the
looks and knows how to use her looks to attract men. And she is so ambitious that she does anything
in order to get the most important thing to her which is money to live the high class life. Ultimately,
a femme fatale leads the male into ruin. Veda fulfills this characteristic of the femme fatale by
shooting Monte to death when he denies that he is going to marry her.
Aristotle Happiness
Aristotle is a well known philosopher whose views on virtue differ from other philosophers and
whose thinking about happiness involves human flourishing and well being. Aristotle wants
Aristotle does believe that there is a higher good of human action: this is happiness (Lear, 1988, p.
160 61). Happiness comes in many different ways and is different for every person. The way that a
person defines happinessis where it gets complicated because sometimes a person defines happiness
in a way that is not thought of as a good thing. Pursuing genuine happiness and a virtuous like, to
Aristotle, are essentially the same things. If you want to pursue one, you must want to pursue the
other as well because without the both of them there will not be... Show more content on

Eudaimonia translates to happiness. Many believe that eudaimonia is the best happiness that
someone should strive for. According to eudaimonist virtue ethics, the good life is the eudaimon life,
and the virtues are what enable a human being to be eudaimon because the virtues just are those
character traits that benefit their possessor in that way, barring bad luck (Hursthouse Pettigrove,
2003). Aristotle believes that this virtue is the best to achieve because it is what helps to guide you
in the right path to true happiness. Being able to achieve that happiness for you and to be able to
show others the way to be able to get that happiness is what his goal

Business Forecast
Abstract
This Paper examines and compares various forecasting techniques used for qualitative and
quantitative business forecasting and their use in Firstlogic Inc., to forecast the demand under
conditions of uncertainty. Time series and Delphi forecasting methods are considered for this
research to evaluate their ability to make effective decisions regarding the future.
Business Forecasting
Business forecasting is the process of studying historical performance for the purpose of using the
knowledge gained to project future business conditions so that decisions can be made today that
will aid in the achievement of established goals. Forecasting plays a crucial role in today s uncertain
global marketplace. Forecasting is traditionally ... Show more content on [Link] ...
This group then feeds back the responses to other members of the group, while never giving away
the identity of the response. The experts are then asked to respond again, after reviewing the
responses of other respondents. This process may continue until a consensus is reached among the
group. The group may be united to form a final consensus (Namvar, 2000, p.8). Time Series
Forecasting Method
Time series techniques are the most popular quantitative method. These techniques use statistical
methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when
appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue
into the future. The two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and
exponential smoothing. The moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting
sales for next year is simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then
divided by the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving average is
obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights must equal one.
Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13).
Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a
weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of
A Study On Using Instant Messaging
In today s world, everyone is surrounded by technology everywhere for example, our smart phones
can connect to the web along with instant messaging to anywhere in the world. A study by Levine,
Waite, and Bowman examines how the relationship between the new collaborative technologies such
as instant messaging (IMing) have great impact of the capability of students to stay concentrated on
their academic tasks. Accordingly, the authors not only examined the consequences on continuous
interruptions of IMing however, they also explored at the consequences of multitasking with their
schoolwork. In the study, it was hypothesized that those students who spent a huge amount of time
on IMing, they have a tough time focusing on their school tasks such as academic reading. The
method authors used to test their hypothesis was by making students to do survey that have 55 item
questionnaire that is structured to find out how much each student use electronic media in terms of
IMing and what are the few ways they are using instant messaging.
Method
The study of IMing survey was participated by students who were primarily White/Non Hispanic
(83%) from working middle class families. A group of fifteen females and 46 male college students
from psychology classes were requested to share their experiences about the IMing habits where they
also received extra course points for participating in the 55 item questionnaire survey. The IMing
student survey begins with determining how much the internet
