Research Paper On Kurt Cobain
Band mates of Nirvana enjoyed the limelight they were in. Money and endorsements rolled in,
but Kurt Cobain essentially did not think much of fame. In fact, Kurt Cobain resented his fame.
Most band mates, like Dave Grohl, would push for Cobain to seek bigger opportunities. The band
would push for Cobain to sign to bigger labels, release albums frequently, and engage in what
Cobain viewed as selling out. However, Cobain would have none of that. Cobain simply did not
care about their fame. Cobain would rail against record labels, artists, and even TV stations just for
corrupting the industry. Kurt once sent a letter to MTV, but addressed them as Empty TV. The letter
continued on about how they are the reason the, Old school is going down
The Negative Use Of Cell Phones
With the new generation, it is not uncommon to find a child using a cell phone. With the rise of
new technology, cell phones are very common among every family, and even every household
individual. This leads to a very controversial question. When should a child be permitted to have
their own cell phone? Cell phones can be a very imperative device for an adolescent, especially in
this new generation we live in today. Children now have access to millions of informative apps
which could each administer a number of benefits. However, even with the abundance of positive
benefits, there is a plethora of negative impacts that a cell phone can cause to an adolescent.
Actively restricting access to atrocious websites is the key to minimizing the negative benefits.
One concept that needs to be addressed, is the daily consumption of interaction through a screen.
According to Amy Williams Some studies estimate that an average person checks their screen
one hundred and fifty times a day. This widespread use of technology trickles down to the
youngest members of our society. Data from Britain shows almost 70 percent of 11 to 12 year
olds use a mobile phone and this increases to close to 90 percent by the age of 14. With the daily
consumption being so high of a number, there must be a realization that this much usage can and
will have a negative impact on the growing brain of today s children. Fredrik Soderqvist
conducted a study on the effects of mobile phones to children s mental health. At the conclusion
of his study, he stated young mobile phone users who participated in the study reported a lower
Page 2 sense of well being compared to participants who did not use mobile phones. Teens that
used mobile phones were more likely to be anxious and depressed. For children, cell phones are an
open door to inappropriate sites. Although there are ways a parent can limit the opportunity, the
probability of completely removing the threat is very meager. Especially since children feel that
they are entitled to a social media account, specifically ones like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat,
Instagram, and Friendster. With over a number of different social media websites, it is preposterous
to try to

Responsibility to Others versus Individual Selfishness
The 20th century philosopher Emanuel Levinas, responding to the horrors of the Holocaust,
considers our ethical responsibility to other humans as follows: The Ego loses its sovereign
coincidence with self, its identification where consciousness comes back triumphantly to itself to
reside in itself...The challenge to self is precisely reception of the absolutely other...[T]he Other
hails me and signifies to me...by its destitution, an order. Its presence is the summons to
respond...To be Me/Ego thenceforth signifies being unable to escape from responsibility. (
Signification and Sense 32 33). What Levinas is trying to explain is an individual is a person, or
human, by how others perceive that individual, thus an individual is ethically responsible for others
as well as others to the individual or is otherwise a loss.
Throughout Dante s The Divine Comedy 1: Hell and Shakespeare s Macbeth, the idea of the
responsibility to others versus an individual s selfishness is a constant debate. In both Dante s
The Divine Comedy 1: Hell and Shakespeare s Macbeth, the responsibility to others is something
that is expected. In Dante s The Divine Comedy 1: Hell, Dante is guided through Hell and learns
how various sins are punished, the traitors being near the bottom. In Shakespeare s Macbeth,
Macbeth is told his destiny to become king, and then face internal conflicts of the various murders
he performed in order to achieve the power of being king. Dante s The Divine Comedy 1: Hell and

Benefits Of Foreign Language Education
Foreign language education has always been less of a priority than any other subject and has always
been a thought towards the end of secondary school education. In schools, there is no exposure to
any other languages other than English for most people until high school. If students do take a
foreign languagein high school, many don t continue learning in college and therefore never actually
become fluent in other languages. Foreign language educationhas shown to have benefits that would
greatly help students develop. Learning a foreign language can develop cognitive abilities and
increase cognitive processing as well as develop analytical skills, and these benefits can only be
acquired when there is a good grasp of the language. Another problem is how foreign language
educationis largely focused on European languages such as French or Spanish. More than half the
most commonly spoken languages in the world are Asian languages but foreign language education
barely covers Asian languages. Learning Asian languages would help make interactions with
businesses and governments of Asian countries a lot better in today s globalized world. Schools are
starting to teach more Mandarin but other Asian languages are still not being taught widely.
Incorporating Asian languages into the education system can be a great benefit in terms of trade,
communication, cultural knowledge, and diversity. There should be more of a focus on foreign
language education at a younger age and also more
Objections To St. Thomas Omnipotence Of God
Nelson Pike shows that St. Thomas Aquinas presents three possible solutions to the problem
regarding the incoherence between God s inability to sin and His omnipotence, or ability to do
anything. Only the third solution will be discussed in this paper. St. Thomas goal is to prove that
God can coherently be both omnipotent and impeccable. In this instance, impeccable means
perfectly good and lacking evil. At this point, it may be helpful to specify how the terms good and
evil will be used moving forward. In his discussion, Pike defines evil as Any situation which is such
that if one were to (knowingly) bring it about (though it is avoidable), that individual would be
morally reprehensible (212). This definition should suit our purposes,... Show more content on

Thomas Aquinas argument switches the standards of moral goodness between humans and God.
While this is a valiant attempt to summarize Pike s objections, it says too much. Pike never says
that Aquinas tries to hold humans to higher standard of moral goodness than God. Moreover, Pike
does not imply that St. Thomas tries to hold God to a lower standard of moral goodness than
humans. Pike simply shows that St. Thomas argument holds God to a standard of moral goodness
which does not entail impeccability, and that God should be held to a higher (not different) standard
of moral goodness than humans (212,
