How Technology Has Changed The World
What has changed in skateboarding photography since the 1960s, what technology has helped
make these changes and how has the technique of skateboarding photography been altered over the
years? Despite what most people think skateboarding photography is an extremely difficult and
artistic form that requires not only does the talents of skilled photographers but it also requires the
knowledge of a skateboarder to know how these photos should look. In the 1960s skateboarding
was hardly seen let alone photographed, but in todays society skateboarding has become one of the
most popular action sports in the world. The rise in popularity of skateboarding has opened the door
for photographers to not only capture these amazing feats of athleticism, but to also have a stable
career. In this research paper I will discuss how the change in photographic technology and technique
has helped advance skateboarding photographyfrom the1960s to today.

Even though the first skateboard was made in the 1950s, the skateboarding industry didn t start to
mass produce skateboards until the 1960s when the metal skateboard wheel was replaced by the
clay skateboard wheel. (Tony Owen, 2013) With the skateboarding industry being so small (In
comparison to todays skateboarding industry) the need for skateboarding photographers was almost
none existent. In fact, the majority of photos taken of skateboarding in the 1960s look as if they
were taken over the course of a few days. Skateboarding photography in
Maverick Research Paper
The Mavericks Beach is located at Pillar Point near Half Moon Bay in California. Every year a
wave surfing competition is held there due to the excellent surfing conditions and takes place
between November to March. Although financing for this large event has been down, I do
believe we should allow for this competition to occur. People who live to surf and enjoy large
waves dream of talking this beast of a contest. If we were to ban the event, people would fight
against the idea and still surf the area by themselves. At least during this competition there are
people prepared and ready to help in case of an emergency. The Maverick s wave have been seen
to reach fifty feet with winds anywhere from forties to seventies. These large waves become
possible due to the winter storms that occur near Alaska and the El Nino weather patterns.
According to **** a low pressure front from the north collides with a high pressure front from the
south resulting in fast, strong winds and this energy enters the oceans and creates big swells (live
science**). Also, the change from high to low tides also generates energy that can only go upwards

The conditions allowed for waves to reach forty to fifty feet accompanied by massive winds (
bleacherreport**). This particular year, the Mavericks had several older individuals prepared to
attack the large waves. Grant Baker, from South Africa, managed to come out on top claiming the
winner of the competition. He pulled off two perfect scores of ten to claim his second title of the
Titans of Mavericks ( bleacherreport**). No serious injuries occurs during this event, which is
lucky given the situation. Many injuries are common to occur due to the size of the waves and the
strong conditions of the water. A high rip tide occurs and a deep hole, known as the Cauldron can
easily take the lives of risky surfers (adventure

of how long it takes the purple color of the solution to disappear. Set up a warm water bath (40°C)
and place a second set of H2C2O4 and permanganate solution into the water bath for 5 minutes. Add
the H2C204 into the permanganate after 5 minutes. Stir the mixture and place the test tube back into
the water bath. Record the time of how long it takes the purple color of the solution to disappear and

the water bath. Document any data collected. Plot the data collected during the
Domestic Abuse Case Study
Ms. Bonsai is a 67 year old lady from Asian descent who has been a widow for four years.
Unfortunately her English is not very fluent and has had problems adjusting to the American
culture. This has caused her to slowly isolate, while her husband was still alive yet often away for
work. In that period of her life she created in her mind fictions world where she would find refuge
similar to her native country. Through her marriage, Ms. Bonsai was regular the victim of domestic
abuse however because of traditional roles, she never complained as she felt that she might
otherwise fall short of her marital expectations. As years went she became more depressed and hit

The Youth Criminal Justice Act
In Spring 2009, three offenders, all in grade eleven , set two houses is Sherwood park on fire. The
youth criminal justice Act (YCJA) provided opportunities for them to reintegrate and rehabilitate,
instead of throwing them in jail. YCJA covers kids between the ages twelve to seventeen years
old. It s purpose is to handle youth offenders more differently than adults because of their
undeveloped minds. The YCJA was released back in 2003. By protecting the rights and providing
Youth Canadians the support they need, the YCJA benefits the offenders in a positive way. The act
gentrust the youth a second chance to make sure they don t reoffend by rehabilitating and
reintegrating them. Also youth over the age 14 years can get an adult sentence if necessary.
Therefore, the YCJA is an effective law because it supports everyone; youth will acquire the help
they need and Public Safety is insured.

One of the most important components in the YCJA is that it allows youth to receive a second
chance. After they have been rehabilitated, and five years have passed, their criminal record will be
sealed. In addition, the act will enforce and conceal the identity of the young offender. The media ban
allows the twelve year old girl who murdered her family (consists of three people) will eventually be
able to apply for the job of her preference. She is less likely to be rejected and the will not be
recognized by the public since she was covered by the media ban. Criminal record
What Are The Differences Between Erikson And Freud
Erikson and Freud are two names that one cannot miss while talking about psychology. Sigmund
Freud is called the father of psychology. In terms of theories, Freud is known for his psychosexual
theory, and Erikson is known for his psychosocial theory.
Though both believed that personality develops in a series of predetermined stages, both of them
have different explanations.
While Freud based his theory on sex, Erikson did not give much importance to the sexual drive of an
individual. On the other hand, Erikson focused on identity.
Freud believed that an individual s identity developed during adolescence. Erikson believed,
however, that an individual s identity developed and evolved throughout a person s life. Unlike
Freud s thoughts that maturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Erikson s psychosocial theory also talked about different stages like: Trust vs. Mistrust, Autonomy
vs. Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority, Identity vs. Role Confusion, Intimacy vs.
Isolation, Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs. Despair.
According to the Oral stage, (from birth to one year), a child s primary source of pleasure is through
the mouth by sucking, tasting, and eating. Erickson says that it is a period (Trust vs. Mistrust) when
children try to learn to trust and mistrust their caregivers. In the Anal stage (1 to 3 years), a child
gains a sense of mastery by controlling bowel and bladder movements. However, Erikson says it is a
period (Autonomy vs. Doubt) when children develop self sufficiency by controlling activities such
as eating, toilet training, and talking.
In the next stage of Freud s Phallic stage (3 6 years), the libido s energy focuses on the genitals, and
they begin to identify with their same sex parent. To Erikson, however, it is a period of Initiative
vs. Guilt where a child begins to take more control over their
The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healingg
The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healing
Abstract
Caring for patients with wounds is commonly encountered in a nurse s career in most health care
settings, whether it is in neonatal, mental health, community, or aged care. In the past, wound
dressings were created to absorb all exudate, believing that dry wounds will reduce the risk of
infection. Within the last fifty years, the concept of moist wound therapy has become the most
effective approach to wound care. Before treating any wound, it is important to discover the
underlying cause and consider other possible factors that may impact on the healing process and
deliver a systematic and rational approach towards wound care assessment. Nurses must have a basic

Describing the overall appearance of the wound is necessary to classify it (Brown amp; Edwards,
200, p.223). Open wounds can be found in pressure ulcers that involve the skin separating apart,
whilst closed wounds the skin is held together mainly by sutures [FIGURE 1 page 3] (Dealey amp;
Cameron, 2008, p.68). Identifying the aetiology correctly also determine if the wound is either
acute or chronic and what depth of the tissue is affected (Brown amp; Edwards, 2008, p.227).

Company Manufactures Components For The Oil And Gas...
ENGINEERING MANUFACTURER Introduction: EngCo Company manufactures components
for the oil and gas industry. It is a cross discipline engineering company, which combines
electrical, mechanical and process engineering skills. The purpose of the company is to produce
custom made components for large gas and oil companies across the globe. The company needs a
design to set up their data network. A report is needed to be written where the options for setting
up their network will be outlined, including details of how all services will be provided. Task 1:
Physical Topology Diagram a)Chosen Topology:Network topologies are categorized into the
following basic types: 1.Bus Topology 2.Star Topology 3.Ring Topology 4.Mesh Topology Among
them Star Topology is more suitable for this network. b)Explanation of Choosing Star Topology: In
Bus Topologyall computers are attached to a single cable. So if any of the connection breaks down,
the entire network breaks down with it. It is difficult to move and change since they are all link up
together. It s difficult to troubleshoot (justfortest.tripod.com, n.d.). In Ring topology, Data moves in
a one way path only. It is expensive because multiple cables area needed and difficult to reconfigure.
Simply not fault tolerant because a single cable fault can bring down the whole network
(justfortest.tripod.com, n.d.). In Star Topology, each computer is connected to a central point from a
dedicated cable. The central

The Pursuit Of Ignorance Strong Response Essay
The Pursuit of Ignorance Strong Response In the TED talk, The Pursuit of Ignorance, Stuart
Firestein makes the argument that there is this great misconception in the way that we study
science. He describes the way we view the process of science today as, a very well ordered
mechanism for understanding the world, for gaining facts, for gaining data. (Firestein 0:11 and
18:23) Although Firestein provides a convincing argument that modern scienceprocesses rely too
much on facts instead of ignorance and new discovery, he fails to provide strong evidence that it
should instead focus solely on the pursuit of ignorance.
Firestein goes on to quote many highly acclaimed scientists in order to propose that the whole
pursuit of knowledge has the singular purpose of perpetuating more questions. He bases his
argument on the thesis that any discoveries in science lead to a ripple effect, an ever expanding
circumference of knowledge that leads to more ignorance. He states that every discovery in
science propagates even more questions. This is an idea that has been adopted by many people in
the fields of science such as anthropologists who study subjects like evolution. In the book,
Introducing Anthropology, by Michael Alan Park, the ripple effect is adapted into the idea of a
continuous cycle. It states, Science works in a cycle, and the inductive and deductive reasoning of
science is applied constantly to the different aspects of the same general subject. Data and
hypotheses are
The Pursuit Of Happyness Movie
The film The Pursuit Of Happyness , directed by Gabriele Muccino in 2006, depicted a
responsible and hardworking salesman Chris Gardner struggles for life and try his best to
improve the quality of his family environment. In spite of facing various difficulties, Gardner
never gives up and he manages to pull through in sense of determination and finally obtained his
happiness in his life. After watching the movie, I agree on the point that one must ready to
sacrifice and works really hard in order to achieve his/her dream as there is no shortcut to success.
In the following paragraphs, I will describe some interesting and meaningful scenes in the movie and
explain how these scenes could actually bring some moral values or inspiration in... Show more

Gardner tries so hard to look for homeless shelter for his son and he even quarrels with others to
fight for the last room. Despite facing these hardships, Gardner still stays optimistic, plays jokes
with his son and brings him to the playground, trying to make him happy. In real life, I like to stay
optimistic even if facing problems as I know that there is nothing cannot be solved. On the other
hand, a pessimistic person will only make things become more complicated due to their negative
thinking and eventually bringing more problems.

After six month of training, Gardner is selected from 20 competitors to work as a stockbroker in
Dean Witter due to his excellent performance during the intern. In one scene, Gardner is called up
to the meeting room, and he is informed by the director manager Mr. Frohms as he is officially
getting a position of a stockbroker in Dean Witter. Gardner is so happy as all the hard work he had
done is finally paid off. In this part, he called his life as Happiness .

In conclusion, The Pursuit Of Happyness is not only a movie but it is a real situation in our life that
in pursuing our dreams we must have gone through difficulties and sacrifice is needed for the
dream to come true. We must always keep in mind that there is no shortcut to success and even it
does, it is just temporary. Like a quote says, No pain, no
Multiple Sclerosis Essay
Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system. It most commonly occurs in
individuals between the ages of twenty and forty (1) and in higher numbers of women than men (2).
In Multiple Sclerosis (or MS ) a loss of the nerves axon coating myelin prohibits the nerve axons
from efficiently conducting action and synaptic potentials. Scar tissue (called plaques or lesions)
forms at the points where demyelination occurs in the brain and spinal cord, hence the name Multiple
Sclerosis or many scars (3). The demyelination found in MS is thought to be caused by an
autoimmune process, in which the body s immune system attacks its own healthy tissue (4). Other
diseases thought to have an autoimmune basis are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the activated T cells then release cytokines and adhesion molecules that enable the T cells
to adhere to and cross over the blood brain barrier, which normally prohibits the flow of
substances into the brain (8,9). The proteins in these T cells bind to myelin fragments on
microglial cells and undergo a secondary activation (10), after which they multiply and release
more cytokines, further invading the nervous system (11) and inflaming and damaging the blood
brain barrier. The greatly weakened barrier becomes easily permeable, allowing additional immune
system cells, such as B cells and cytotoxic T cells to cross over (12). Once through the barrier, B
cells produce antibodies which bind to the oligodendracytes (the cells of the CNS which create
myelin) and the myelin itself. Associated macrophages procede to destroy the myelin and may also
damage the oligodendracytes (13).

Myelin, found only in vertebrate nervous systems, is a fatty substance that surrounds the axons and
long dendrites of nerves in the brain and spinal cord tissue (4). By lowering the rate at which the
axonal membrane absorbs nerve impulses, myelin acts as an insulator, allowing NS potentials to
travel rapidly through the nervous system and maintain communication between the brain and the
rest of the body (2). This communication between the brain and the rest of the CNS and peripheral
nerves is a central

Fall 2017
It s hard to believe, but the season of fall has been with us since the near end of September,
however many of us haven t seem to put away our summer attire and for good reason too. No one
wants to sweat more than they have to. I say have to because sweating is a part of life. Many
creatures get hot, but the way they stay cool and regulate their temperature varies. In the science
article How Animals Keep Their Cool by Johanna Mayer, she explains how animals have evolved to
beat the heat .
Humans are able to regulate their body temperature by sweating. Sweating, also known as
perspiration is explained as the release of a salt based fluid from our sweat glands. As sweat
evaporates from the skin, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer, once more makes this idea simple for all reads to truly comprehend the idea that she has
explained. Mayer wants her readers to imagine running their palm across a surface; i infer a
smooth one, because her imagery she writes is our palms should slide across. The sweat from a cat
paw tells them to grip the floor or couch to avoid sliding across the floor or falling off the couch.
The article does note that horses primary cooling mechanism is panting, like our four legged house
pets, yet it is the horse s snout that helps with the process. Lizards also have a unique way to stay
cool, which can result in moving between warmer and cooler areas or standing still, with its mouth
opening. Lizards tend to open their mouths to allow evaporation to occur. Lizards do not have an
internal mechanism to adjust their body temperature, and must make adjustment to their behavior to
cool off. Butterflies have a similar cool off method compared to lizards because they move into
shady areas. Butterflies can cool themselves while flying too.
Most humans can tolerate being in the heat for long periods of time because we can constantly
sweat to cool ourselves off. This is why there are so many different types of deodorant companies
and styles. Humans have a specific kind of sweat gland called eccrine glands that allows us to cool
off. Mayer states some hypothesis as to why and how did
Essay On Gerald Laing
In this production by Gerald Laing, a young and fit woman can be seen. She appears to come
from a model background as she has a toned figure that is slender and curvy. She is standing in a
confident posed position with a hand on her hip. It appears the artist attempts to position her short
lengthened, dark hair in a way that portrays the wind is blowing it. She is wearing a swimming
suit that covers minimal. She is placed on the right half of the portrait. The artwork does not
contain any other people or objects in the piece. Laing completes the print using only three shades
of color: gold, grey, and dark grey/black. The gold background quickly catches the eye. Also, the
gold is the color of the swimming suit that covers the model s bottom half and chest suggesting that
the artist wanted to draw attention to these specific body parts. Overall, the print is organized and
has a neat appearance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her position is inviting for people to look at and make inaccurate judgments about. The way she
is dressed gives her a negative appearance. She is wearing skimpy clothing that could be judged as
present or absent, in that, the apparel is the same color as the background. This idea displays
women as an easy object rather than an individual who deserves respect. The angle of her head off
to the side instead of straight forward suggests that women are rude. The title of the piece, Sandra
from Baby Baby Wild Things also hints that women are primarily focused on partying and involving
themselves in wild activities depicting them as unprofessional individuals who cannot be taken
seriously. All in all, the artist does not portray a very positive theme for
