Competency To promote physical education and sports as an integral part of the Basic Education
for holistic development of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive
citizens of the country.
Rationale and
Description The conduct of District Athletic Meet and selection to Division Level provides an
opportunity for students to showcase their athletic abilities and compete against their
peers from different school in the district. It also allows for the selection of the best
athletes to present the division in higher-level competitions such as the provincial,
regional or national levels. (Colucci, 2005)
Furthermore, a 2 -day event creates sense of excitement and camaraderie among
the students, as they come together to cheer on their respective district school and
athletes. This type of event promotes physical fitness, healthy competition, teamwork
and personal and interpersonal attributes, which are all important values to instill in
young people.
Finally, this activity promotes the equal opportunity principle by ensuring that men
and women have equal access to trainings at school in the community, regardless of
age, ethnicity, gender, affiliations or religion.

II. Terminal and To identify best athletes in the District level to represent in the Division
Enabling level, Regional level and Palarong Pambansa.
Objectives To provide an opportunity for student-athletes to showcase their athletic
abilities and compete against their peers from different school/district.
To foster a sense of pride and belonging among students, as they represent
their district in the Division Meet.
To promote the over all development of students including physical, social,
emotional and mental well-being.
