The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures
Teresa Fang

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of
the Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history.
The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine
life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and
politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth :
the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had
been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florencewas very prosperous
during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important
thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the
philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived
interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the
arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government.
Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force
of the Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these
cultures. They strongly believed
Causes And Effects Of College Dropouts
Causes and Effects of College Dropouts
Life is believed to be easier for people with higher degrees than for those without higher degrees.
Hence, it is the joy of parents to see their children admitted into a higher institution. With the high
cost attached to attending a four year university, most students prefer to attend community colleges.
Community colleges provide the same quality of education offered by universities for the first two
years at a lower cost which help students reduce debts toward getting their higher degree. However,
compared to the number of students who started their first year in community colleges, a large
percentage dropped out. This is common to both freshly graduated high school students and adults
who came back to college to obtain a degree. Students drop out of colleges because of financial
issues and the need to take remedial courses. As a result, they have self esteem issues and may
remain poor.
Students drop out of colleges because of financial issues. Although some students get financial aid, it
is not enough to pay for the expenses attached to getting a college degree. Students need money to
buy textbooks which are highly expensive. Most courses required assignments to be taken online in
which students must purchase a pass code. They also need money to pay their bills, take
transportation to schools, and buy other items for personal needs. Due to financial constraint, most
students have to work in addition to attending school. Students get
Social Media And Identity Analysis
Judaism takes the universal community concept all the way to help foster an identity and purpose
by emphasizing the need to stick with the community throughout life and public identify yourself
with them even if your belief wanes. The aspect of public identification is vital here because it
reinforces an incredibly deep social bond built out of both a shared, common belief but also
through superficial ethnicity in such a way that they rarely feel alone in situations because of the
ease of being able to identify someone through their clothing and name. This sense of loneliness and
not knowing anyone is another pillar aspect of the strength of social media s strength because it
allows these at risk people easily find the type of person that... Show more content on [Link]

Social media may appear to be irrelevant here at first, however social media is actually again at
the core of this issue because social media can often act as a safe haven for those who are socially
ostracized because it connects those who are in similar situations together. This is especially
problematic in terms of both the integrity of identity and purpose as well the person s own future
even if they never discovery their purpose because this new community would both further confused
their sense of identity and purpose but also integrate and validate ideas and values of others which
potentially resulted in their social exile. Christianity s focus on salvation and its evangelism is
absolutely vital to pulling people out and preventing them from ever being trapped in this echo
chamber because the two combined offer those who have been ostracized a way back even though
the rest of society has written them off as failures. This, if successful, brings those who are most
vulnerable or have already fallen victim to social media at varying levels towards individual
development of identity and purpose without the dangers of social media. This development of
identity and purpose is supported by the sense of community brought from the fact that many of
those around you had also suffered but had found salvation through the same means. However, this
may seem to be more of the original problem that contributed to the confusion of identify and
purpose however the Christian community is bound together by a shared forgiveness of their past
misdeeds so as to move on and continue to develop identity and purpose whereas these types of
social media communities are only bound together by a collective,
The Golden Age By Aphra Behn
In her poem The Golden Age , Aphra Behn divides nature from civilization, almost in a biblical
sense of Eden and after Eden. Nature and civilization are separated as a positive and negative
experience where love is dishonoured, and sin takes over Earth. Through this before and after
division, Behn shows how the fall of mankind led to the oppression of the femalesex as woman,
associated with love, kept the world pure until man, associated with honour, took over. Thus creating
Pleasure, Nature s worst Disease (148). When Nature is overpowered by civilization, genderissues
arose. This division of gender issues sets women up to be a tease or object of pleasure rather than
an equal lover who is free to her own sexuality. The Golden Age presents the fall of natural order
with the rise of man.
The beginning of the poem is a very peaceful, Blest Age! (1), with Purling Stream[s] (1), an
Eternal Spring (5), and wanton Gods of Love (15). This takes place in the world before the rise of
mankind, much like the biblical Garden of Eden. In this flowery place, nature triumphs with
love. Nature is referred to as a feminine idea, Virgin Earth;/ Who yielded of her own accord her
plenteous Birth (32 33). This can relate to the idea or allusion of Mother Nature, as Earth is
commonly referred to as female. Behn tells the reader how roses, as a symbol for virtuousness, live
in prosperous morning dew. In this peaceful and young world, two lovers are free to all their Joyes

Clockwork Orange Questions
General Questions 1.) My first impression on Clockwork orange was that book was very hard to
focus and weird, it took a lot of effort to keep reading. It was probably to due the language and the
introduction of the characters wasn t really readers attention catcher, however after the first
chapter it got interesting and you had no idea what would happen next or even a basic concept of
the plot. 2.) The third part of text is where the character Alex was the most compelling due to fact
he went under the experiment and how he wasn t able to withstand violence made him understand
how criminals made people feel the helplessness and [Link] the misery he felt when he
couldn t do anything like he was grown up to do. It brought out a whole new dimension of Alex
because now he would have to beg to give kindness to his prosecutors. 3.)The most challenging

Every class has their own unique type of language that depicts them as a group. For example the
government had a more sophisticated and proper language then Alex and his droogs. The different
types of language helped set Alex and his droogs apart from the rest of the society. It gave them a
identity and purpose to use the language differently than the adults. [Link] is a marker of status

Discrimination Against Female And Male Employees
The present global scenario has come a long way when it comes to discrimination against women.
Employers who discriminate against female or male employees because of their sex are held to be
in violation of The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Title VII (Twomey Jennings, 2014).
Gone are the times when the men were stereotyped to be the bread winners while women were
expected to remain at home to cook and clean. Discriminationhad always preferred the able bodied
superior. Women today work alongside the superior sex but sadly, still face discrimination in the
workplace when it comes to opportunities and higher responsibilities. The female worker is still
not provided with the same promotion as opposed to men. They experience fewer opportunities
for promotion and positions of authority. Additionally, women who are illiterate have a lesser
chance to get jobs doing labor work. Yet, every company desires workers who are fast working
and hence, the company hires people who are young and energetic. This is why old people and
women get singled out for competitive job positions. Women are often not treated equally for
positions despite being more qualified than their male counterparts primarily because the employers
are apprehensive of their commitment towards the job. They believe women cannot be as
committed because they are more tied to their families and might miss out on their job roles due to
pregnancies or other family obligations. Genderinequalities have plagued
October Crisis Flq
The federal government responded to the October Crisis by invoking the War Measures Act
A two page bill that fundamentally gave absolute power to the federal cabinet, and in doing so
halted the rights of all Canadians. (Pg. 161)
On October 15th, secret cabinet meetings took place in which emergency legislations were discussed.
In these meetings, Bourassa had requested on exclusive measures to help his fortified government.
Trudeau understood this to mean an amendment to the Criminal Code or extraordinary temporary
emergency legislation. (Pg. 166)
The cabinet was generally formal the emergency legislation. Within hours, the police prepared to jail

Everyone detained under the War Measures Act was rejected due process.

The Crown could keep a detainee for a week before arranging them with a crime.
Also, the attorney general could request, before the week ended, that the implicated be detained for

Data Mining Essay
Abstract
Every interaction your company has with a customer or supplier likely generates a data trail and this
data provides a wealth of information for marketers. Extracting that information and getting it into
usable shape requires sophisticated data mining tools. One example of this technology is the used by
police departments to identify patterns in crime. We will define, explain and discuss main aspects of
data mining. Also its benefits and negative issues. What is Data?
Data is defined as facts, concepts, information, or instructions in a formalized manner suitable for
communication, interpretation, or processing by humans or by automatic means. Like mentioned
before this processing is usually assumed to be automated and ... Show more content on

Data Mining
What is Data Mining?
Data mining is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into
useful information, this information that can be used to increase revenue, cuts costs, or both. Data
mining software is one of a number of analytical tools for analyzing data. It allows users to analyze
data from many different dimensions or angles, categorize it, and summarize the relationships
identified. Technically, data mining is the process of finding correlations or patterns among dozens
of fields in large relational databases. (Sometimes called data or knowledge discovery)
How does data mining work?
Data mining is a subset of business intelligence, which covers a broad range of analytics
technologies. Often used for predictive modeling, data mining tools can also help organizations
better understand relationships among variables. One core software tool is online analytical
processing (OLAP), which extracts, structures and stores warehoused data to enable quick,
multidimensional analysis. A dimension can be any variable your company tracks: customer
locations, sales volumes, product development costs and so on. An OLAP data set is made up of
dimensions and measures, which can then be used for queries to elicit detailed data breakdowns and
How Did Upton Sinclair Contribute To The Gilded Age
Though best known for his muckraking efforts that helped to end the Gilded Age, Upton Sinclair
wrote nearly a hundred books in his lifetime. From a young age his mother encouraged in him a
love of reading; when he could, Sinclair would read for up to fourteen hours a day. However, his
childhood was also marked by poverty and by his father s raging alcoholism. His mother took a
strong sense of morality against his father s drinking and of all types of sinning. These strict
morals implanted in him made the socialist party very appealing. Sinclair was willing to make
small sacrifices for the greater good, especially since he had seen how damaging poverty can be.
This poverty, alcoholism, and eventually socialismled to Sinclair s strong sense... Show more content

Even going as far to run for mayor and a senatorial seat, Sinclair believed deeply in the socialist
cause. This theme shines in all of his works; in his most famous novel, The Jungle, Sinclair explores
the evils of capitalism. He even goes as far as to compare Jurgis journey through the corrupt urban
jungle to that of Dante through his Inferno, to hear this man describe the animals which came to
his place would have been worthwhile for a Dante or a Zola (Sinclair 80). Suitably, The Jungle
and The Divine Comedy were meant to be taken on both literal and allegorical levels; a point that
many original readers did not understand. Both Dante and Jurgis find salvation at the end of their
journeys, Dante in heaven, and Yurgis in socialism. Throughout The Jungle, Jurgis is searching for
something to cling to in belief. First Jurgis puts his faith in his work ethic and youth to allow him
to rise out of poverty. Then, when that fails in an accident, he puts his faith in his family; which
becomes shattered when Ona reveals that she was selling her body for money. His son s death
pushed him over the edge, and then he put his faith back in himself, this time as the wizened abuser
of those who know less. The judicial system, economic system, and his own morals fail Jurgis. In his
despair, the light of socialism shone through and
Gustave Courbet Gleaners
A Formal Analysis of Gustave Courbet s Burial at Ornans and Jean François Millet s Gleaners
The realism era came about during the time of the Romantics, the time where imagination and
ideology painted the artists canvas. To be a realist meant that an artist would paint what he actually
saw and not an idea of something. For instance, if an artist were to paint a depiction of war, then all
the gruesome details would probably be considered in the piece of art. The artist that essentially
paved the way out of Romanticism and into the era of Realism was Gustave Courbet considered by
some to be the first realist. He dismissed academic painting and insisted that Realist painting was
only what one could actually see. His most famous statement is I have never seen an angel. Show
me an angel, and I ll paint one.

Millet used an oil medium and centered the subject matter on canvas with dimensions measuring
at around thirty three inches in height and forty four inches in width. This piece appears to be
photorealistic because in the center of the work, the three peasant workers come across in an
almost life like representation of a mundane task. The Gleaners is an excellent depiction of the
daily struggles of the of the lower income class. Paul de Saint Victor, an essayist and literary critic
of the time bestowed on this work of art to be The three Fates of pauperism. Millet used the
appearance of a sunset and his use of color seems to illuminate on these women as they work. The
color and the fact that Millet placed the three women so much in the foreground placed emphasis
on the work and the strength that they carry. This painting was displayed in the Salon in 1857 and
has had exposure all over the world. Currently The Gleaners is on conservation at the Musée d

In the commercial Fotoshop by Adobe Rosten effectively convinces his audience of the absurdity
of society s obsession with physical appearance and the beauty trick to appear more attractive by

Analysis Of The Details Of Why Nice Guys Finish Last By...
Rozik Jemyan
Philosophy 101
Monday Night
Upon reviewing the details of Why Nice Guys Finish Last, the author Julia Serano emphasizes that
with society being the way it is, men tend to become bad boys because society and culture is
brought up to believe that the way to win a womans heart and attention is by being sexually
aggressive. Julia Serano argues that in order to recognize rape culture, we must first learn to
understand the predator / prey mindset. In this essay, I will argue that in order to neutralize the
predator / prey mindset, society needs to stop looking at women as the prey and the men as the
predators. I believe that if society learns how to overlook men as being hunters and women as the
prey, that would make the amount of rape occurrences drop massively.
In my past experiences I have ubiquitously heard throughout my life: Nice guys finish last. Women
don t want a man that is sweet and sensitive because it is a speculation that all women want a real
man. The comprehension of a real man in this society is taught to be someone who is dominant,
someone who leads and takes control. Nice guys continuously get turned down by women because
women are accustomed to see the sympathetic man as being unnatural and bizarre. In my opinion,
dominance and sexual aggression are the key ingredients in capturing a woman s attention. Womens
brains are stimulated automatically to set one s sights on a man who can protect them. Which is why
they fall towards the sexual
