Rhetorical Analysis Of Tuesdays With Morrie
Tuesdays with Morrie Rhetorical Analysis

Mitch Albom described in the book did not resemble the Mitch Albom in the movie production.
American author and sports columnist Mitch Albom in his memoir from Tuesdays with Morrie
(1997) records his weekly conferences with his old, diseased professor for his final thesis about
life. He develops his tear jerking chronicle by first describing Morrie before Lou Gehrig s disease,
then addressing his new lifestyle with the disease, then listing their discussion topics in chapter
title form, and finally recounting how Morrie s wise words have impacted the way Mitch lives
and encounters life. Albom s purpose is to raise money and awareness of the disease in order to pay
for Morrie s medical bills. He establishes a buoyant tone for the general public. However, although
this memoir to a man s favorite professor is a success and a best seller, no book is complete without
a movie, in Hollywood. In 1999, talk show host Oprah Winfrey produced a film dedicated to the
narrative written by Albom. However, this film did not closely resemble the memoir for
entertainment reasons. Mitch is not completely portrayed correctly; the film would be boring if the
story was identical.

Tuesdays with Morrie as a memoir simply shines light on how Morrie Schwartz impacted a former
student s life beneficially. Mitch is a young man whose life had blossomed to be fairly average. He
is a married man and a journalist. Though he had not hit rock bottom, he also

Muscling Into the Mainstream

Summary of Article The title of my article is called Muscling Into the Mainstream, and it was
written in the New York Times on August 7, 2008. What this article is trying to discuss is how
Under Armour is steadily moving itself into the mainstream of selling performance and/or
sportswear. It talks about what target markets that Under Armour is pursuing and what strategies it
has used or is currently using to reach out to those target markets. It also talks about how Under
Armour has strictly controlled its distribution to sporting goods stores, military base exchanges, and
sports and military oriented outlets. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An enemies weak spots are natural targets and the flank attack focuses on attacking those natural
weak spots through geographic dimensions and segmental dimensions. In this case, Under Armour
uses the segmental dimension. The segmental dimension serves the market s uncovered needs. As a
matter of fact, according to the Flank strategy, the purpose of marketing is to discover needs and
satisfy them. This is exactly what Under Armour has done and what it continues to do. It has
been the fuel that steers this ship to success. Under Armour is deliberately planning its future
according to its consumer base. For example, Under Armour is has recently entered the cross
training footwear market by releasing a very specific product which I will explain later in the
paper. When CEO Kevin Plank was asked as to why he was pursuing the cross training category,
his answer was simple: It s the same reason we went after football cleats, because our customer
asked us for it. (Olson 2008) This marketing concept has not only helped Under Armour grow
exponentially, but it has helped Under Armour separate itself from other sportswear giants like
Nike. Nike s philosophy which believes in telling the athlete what s best for them portrays them as
being the loud, stubborn, know it all type whereas Under Armour portrays themselves as the player
friendly coach, who listens to its player s feedback and adjusts its game plan accordingly.

The Impact Of Technology On Society Today
There is no doubt that technology plays a big role in society today. Whether people like it or not,
one thing is definite: technology is not going anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the
digital revolution, technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No
matter if it is the Internet, computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all
of them. However, of all the pieces of technologyI have used, the one I cannot live without would
have to be my laptop. This year has opened my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop.
Whether I am taking notes in class, doing research online, typing a paper, surfing the web, or
Skyping my family back home, I am always using my laptop. Sure, I still use my cell phone a lot,
but I honestly do not use social media on it as I used to. So really the main purposes for my cell
phone are what they should be for; making phone calls and sending texts. If I did not have a
laptop, it would make going to school more challenging, I would spend much more time at the
library using their computers and could not enjoy lying in bed watching my favorite show on
Netflix. Of course I could handle not having a laptop. However, after completing my first year
away at school, my eyes have been opened to the importance of having one, and I have seen how
dependent I am on mine. I use the technology I use because it makes my life easier, simpler, and
more efficient. I also use technology because it
Technology During Ww1
Throughout time, soldiers needed new technology during World War l. Therefore, people started to
have ideas of better and new technology, that developed the start of new weapons and technology to
use in the war. This new technology had benefits and it also had problems.
Many new technology started to arise. The weapons are the ones in which developed even more.
Such as the machine guns, the guns were the most destructive weapon. The most popular one was the
Gatling gun. What made the gun convenient was that they had the ability to carry it around and if
was an effective addition to their weapons. The poison gas was another new technology which made
war even more miserable. Both sides thought that the use of poison gas would allow them to break ...

These airplanes at first by the people thought they were going to be useless. In the end, the
airplanes ended up being very useful. The airplanes served as a good way to shoot out the
opponents. The airplanes being up in the air was such a good advantage for the soldiers that were
going to use them for war purposes.
Tanks were first introduced during the Battle of Flers Courcelette in September 1916. The tanks
of WWI played a really important role during the war because it increased mobility and it broke
the stalemate of trench warfare. One of the few problems the tank had during the war was the speed
the tanks go. It only goes about four miles per hour and that s pretty slow and could only do so much.
The impacts of this new technology in the World War l was that it made the war much more
difficult for the infantry soldiers who did most of the fighting. The advanced technology helped
them a lot throughout the war, which was a benefit for them. In the form of tanks and airplanes,
these two things and more helped end the conflict. All of the things listed above added a benefit for
the soldiers fighting and the rest of the war. In which there was a great impact on how the
advancement of technology had on WWl, giving them a greater chance to win the
The Bandar-Logs In The Jungle
In the Jungle Book, Kaaś hunting, the Bandar Logs are a replica of bullies. The words they say
expresses that they feel like they are better than everybody in the jungle. Their actions show that
they don´t care. They monkeys also treat other animals discourteously. The Bandar Logs act like
humans that can t control themselves. They are selfish, conniving animals who try too hard to get
noticed but instead of getting noticed in a good way, they are losing respect. Bandar Logs are
bullies. In the book, the words the Bandar Logs say proves that they think they are better than
everybody else. ¨ What the Bandar Logs think now the jungle will think later is one of the many
idiotic quotes that these in denial monkeys are saying. I call them in denial because they cannot, I
mean will not, believe that they are the outcasts of the jungle. They are not special, they are not
wanted. They say they are men but that is just an insult to men. After... Show more content on

Kipling says that the monkeys torture hurt or sick animals when they see them. They throw nuts at
them and tease them. Bullies sometimes hurt people and them laugh at them when they see that
they have caused pain. The monkeys do not cause the pain but the do not make it any better.
Another action the Bandar Logs do is they throw nuts on animals just anywhere. In the story it says
that the monkeys would swing in the sky and throw nuts on animals just for entertainment. Itś like
they do not even care. My last example is that they even kidnapped Mowgli. They only did that so
people can notice them and because they needed him for there own problems. They thought
Mowgli was the solution but they never thought, or cared, how this kidnapping could affect other
people. The fight at the end of the story was because of them. They decided that they wanted to go
out and kidnapped Mowgli and because of that some of their people died. Their actions affect other
people and they do not even
War Over the Holy Land
The Crusades, a series of wars, are an extremely important part of history in the 12th century,
occurring during the Middle Ages. The Middle East or the Holy Land was always a place that
Christians traveled to to make pilgrimages. The Seljuk Turks eventually took control of Jerusalem
and all Christians were not allowed in the Holy City. As the Turks power grew, they threatened to
take over the Byzantine Empire and Constantinople. The Byzantine Emperor, Alexius I, asked
Pope Urban II for help and Pope agreed, hoping to strengthen his own power. He He united the
Christians in Europe and In 1095, Pope Urban II waged waged war against muslims in order to
reclaim the holy land. The Crusade influenced the Middle ages in many ways, such as: adding to
the Church s control over Europe and their wealth, increased the Pope s, or papacy s, power,
caused men and supplies to be requested frequently which resulted in many deaths (both muslim
and christian), knights and barons sold their manor and lands or died which caused feudalism to
become rocky in Europe, brought about the code of chivalry, people developed new ideas and
began to grow smarter in what is called the Age of Learning, led to the discovery of new countries
in the undiscovered areas of Asia, and commerce and trade grew due to the necessities that the
Crusaders asked for. During the middle ages, there was a total of nine crusades. With each Crusade
came different effects, and each separate Crusade affected Europe in its

South Korea s Historical Struggle With Tyrannical Rule Essay
AbstractConsidering South Korea s historical struggle with tyrannical rule, the nation has become
quite a democratic force, mirroring its European and American counterparts. Being a country that
caters to different values, cultures, and social structures, there are some considerable differences of
their Criminal Justice System, specifically their criminal procedures, policing, and prison
populations. However, due to their adaption of Western legal traditions there are similar marks
within South Koreas laws and constitution. Introduction
In the face of the initial plan of a unified Korea in the 1943 Cairo Declaration, intensifying Cold War
resentment between the Soviet Union and the United States, as well as tensions within Korea with
the Korean War, eventually led to the establishment of separate governments, each with its own
system, and to the division of Korea into two political entities in 1948: North Korea and South Korea
(Gohar, 1988). South Korea is a relatively small nation in the east located in the Southern portion
of the Korean Peninsula; it shares a properly guarded border with North Korea, a communistic
nation. To give more geographical perspective, South Korea is surrounded by the Yellow Sea and
the Sea of Japan, in which its namesake is not too far off in the southeastern direction. With a
population of around 50 million people, more than half of its people is located in the country s
capital, Seoul (Joo, 2015). Although it is a country of small
The Story Of Chief Pontiac
Native Americans around the Great Lakes are following suit in what Chief Pontiac is doing.
Between May 16 and June 20, the British had lost nine of their eleven Forts and they are stunned as
to how it is happening. Fort Pitt, Ligonier, Bedford, Le Boeul, Isle, Miami, Sandusky, and St.
Joseph, and Ouiatenon are all taken under Indian control. General Amherst, the leader of the British,
at first didn t believe that this was actually happening. He would respond with letters stating that it
is impossible for the Native Americans to take over Forts with British guards occupying the Forts.
He also did not want to believe that Pontiac was capable of cutting off Fort Detroit. While this is
happening, Chief Pontiacis having talks of peace at Fort Detroit with Captain Campbell.... Show

Once Campbell tells Pontiac that he is unable to send his message to General Gladwin, he ends up
taking Campbell hostage, as well as Lieutenant MacDougal. Pontiac then sends some French allies
to tell Gladwin his proposal. At this time Pontiac has broken two rules of war, one being parley,
and the other is the rule truce. The other problem Pontiac is having is that he now had a hostage
that he also considers a friend. Lieutenant MacDougal and Captain Campbell had a plan to escape;
unfortunately only Lieutenant MacDougal was able to escape. Captain Campbell was out of shape
and had vision problems, which made it difficult for him to even
Persuasive Essay On Texting And Driving
Getting behind the wheel is so dangerous if we think about it. We are not just trusting ourselves,
but everyone else on the road. We actually put ourselves at risk when we get on the roads. We all
hear about drunk drivers, and the results of their actions. Deaths, accidents, regrets, but how about
texting and driving? I remember several months ago, I pulled up to a stop sign, and was stopped for
only about one second. The sign was down a little hill, so it was not noticeable from the distance.
As stopped, I saw in my rearview mirror, a car coming in fast, and before he could react, he
slammed into the back of me. The cause of it? He was going down that road fast, and on his
phone. While he was looking down on his phone, probably sending a text, he did not see the sign
that advised there was a stop sign ahead. If he was not distracted, the accident could have easily
been avoided. The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6
million crashes each year. Imagine if cell phones weren t around like years ago, these incidents
would not be happening. The driver takes their eyes off the road for 10 seconds. Is that message
really important of what you had to say? It is not even just messages in todays society, people
especially teenagers are looking at their phone to change the songs. I am guilty for this, and I know
many people who I have drove with also are. We can decrease the risk of this. The transtheorectical

Data Protection and Customer Privacy
The media, trade bodies and academia has created a large buzz around the Data Protection and
customers privacy in the recent years. The consequences of the issue raised are different legislation
policies, self regulation, and general confusion. In order to be discussed, this controversial topic
should be looked at from two different perspectives: customers one and direct marketers one. From
customers point of view, direct marketingis undoubtedly an invasion of their privacy. Consumers feel
intimidated by the direct marketingcampaigns that fire them with different types of unwanted printed
and online media daily. Further, many of them are being concerned about their personal information
being so easily available which makes them feel vulnerable. On the other side are direct marketers
who put a lot of effort in their attempts to engage the audience and build/maintain relationships with
them. Moreover, practitioners believe that they are targeting the best prospects and best customers
(rather than uninterested people) who are willing to buy the products offered and are happy to
receive up to date information about them. Thus, it has been assumed that marketers see themselves
as assistants who help people in choosing the best deals available whereas customers feel like
victims rather than catered for.
Customers concerns about their privacy could be simply splitted up into two parts: unwanted direct
marketing approaches and privacy issues. Junk mail , Spam emails,

Joseph Kennedy, JFK s father, had ties to the head of the Chicago mob, Sam Giancana, as they
supposedly worked in the bootlegging industry during the prohibition. The mafia also had
motivation for the involvement or carrying out the hit with Robert Kennedy, JFK s brother and
attorney general having made moves against organized crime, possibly angering them, but what
many proponents of this Mafia theory point back to is Jack Ruby who killed Lee Harvey Oswald,
he was a Dallas nightclub owner with known mafia connections but the Warren commission

possibility that individual members may have been involved . High end officials also believed that
the Mafia had a role within the assassination conspiracy with the chief counsel for House Select
