The Beijing Olympics Olympic Games
Hosting the Olympic Games is thought of as one of the great honor that a country can receive in the
eyes of the world. By hosting the Olympic Games, this can provide a host country the opportunity to
represent their nation states with a universally legitimate way to present and promote their national
identities and culture. The 2008 Beijing Olympics played a significant role in the social life of
China and efficiently influence not only the history and grand socioeconomics transformation and
modernization of China, but also the rest of the world, making it one of the most successful
Olympiad in history. After being awarded the opportunity to host the Games, China took this chance
to their advantage to promote their reformed national identity on the world s stage, in terms of
symbolically and physically. According to Xin Xu , he believes that the low politics of sport is
conspicuously connected with the high politics of national identities and international relations in
the spotlight of the upcoming Beijing Games (90). The Chinese saw this mega sporting event as a
platform from which they can revive their national pride and identities (Luo, Huang 444). In order
for China to accomplish their aim for nation identity, they must first realize the China s Three
Dreams, put forth by Zhang Boling a renowned educationist and sportsman. The Three Dreams were
also known as the Three Questions : when can a Chinese compete in the Olympic Games, when can a
Chinese athlete win an
History of British Literature
Late Medieval Period 14th Century British Literature

14th and 15th were period of transition from feudalism to pre industrial era. A time of political,
social and ideological conflicts;
England was in war with France (the hundred year war 1337 1453 Edward s claim to the French
throne and attempt to bring England, Gascony and Flanders under unified political control). The
defeats in France lead to deepening the internal crisis. The decline in agriculture together with the
rise in the population resulted in frequent famines and helped the spread during the 14th c. of the
Black Death . 1381 The Peasants Revolt.
Culture: by 15th century England had become a nation with the sense of separate identity and

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, by the same anonymous author, is also of high literary
sophistication, and its intelligence, vividness, and symbolic interest render it possibly the finest
Arthurian poem in English. Other important alliterative poems are the moral allegory Piers
Plowman, attributed to William Langland, and the alliterative Morte Arthur, which, like nearly all
English poetry until the mid 14th cent., was anonymous.

The works of Geoffrey Chaucer mark the brilliant culmination of Middle English literature. Chaucer
s The Canterbury Tales are stories told each other by pilgrims who comprise a very colorful cross
section of 14th century English society on their way to the shrine at Canterbury. The tales are cast
into many different verse forms and genres and collectively explore virtually every significant
medieval theme. Chaucer s wise and humane work also illuminates the full scope of medieval
thought. Overshadowed by Chaucer but of some note are the works of John Gower.

The Fifteenth Century:

The 15th cent. is not distinguished in English letters, due in part to the social dislocation caused by
the prolonged Wars of the Roses. Of the many 15th century imitators of Chaucer the best known are
John Lydgate and Thomas Hoccleve. Other poets of the time include Stephen Hawes and Alexander
Barclay and the Scots poets William Dunbar, Robert Henryson, and Gawin Douglas. The poetry of
John Skelton, which is mostly satiric, combines medieval and
Compare And Contrast The Constitutional Requirements
The Constitution Requirements
Define the Articles of Confederation and why the Constitution was needed
The agreement made by the original 13 states in 1777 establishing a confederacy to be know as the
United Stated of America; replaced by the Constitution of 1788.
There have some reasons to create this Constitution.
To replace the Articles of Confederation, which granted too little power to the federal government.
Like: could not raise money for taxing; no control the foreign commerce; it could pass laws but can t
force the states to follow them.
The history of the Constitutional Convention
James Madison and Edmund Randolph, who were the two Virginia delegates who had anticipated
this possibility, arrived at the Convention with the rough ... Show more content on [Link] ...
So, the government need to separate the powers to the three parts: legislative (the people who create
the laws), executive (the people who enact the laws), and judicial powers of government (the people
who judge the laws).
Federation is one of the more ingenious creations to grow out of the Constitutional Convention. The
federal system established by the Constitution was unique in that it created a governmental system in
which the real powers of the political system were truly divided between the centralized and
decentralized units of government. ( Weatherman, Donald V. U.S. Constitution. Salem Press
Encyclopedia (2015) ) It like the separation of powers, was built in to the constitutional system as a
check on government powers.
Republicanism is written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay in 1787 to 1788.
The first advantage of republicanism is that governmental authority is delegated to a small group of
citizens (By learning the interests and needs of a diverse number of groups, representatives
approach governmental decision making with a broader perspective). The second is that republican
governments can cover a much larger geographical area than a direct democracy can (This diversity
decreases the likelihood that a single interest will constitute a majority on any given

Counceptualization and Treatment Plan

Abstract

The practice that assist a therapist in determining a client diagnosis and the proper treatment plan
that would resolve the issue surrounding the clinet s diagnosis is Case Conceptualization and
Treatment Planning. The clinet s treatment plan must be appropriate and relational and this will
alow any type of medication and adaptions to be adjusted if needed so that modifications and

Roland had a very close relationship with his step father, but his step father dies when Roland was
16 years old leaving a great emptiness and sense of being alone inside.
Although Rolnad s mother displayed love and affection to Roland, her parenting style left Roland
with no sense of consequence to his action. Roland believes that nobody should continue to be
upset with him after he apologies. An apology alone, void of any action, is enough for all to be
forgiven and forgotten to Roland. His biological father had a relationship with him growing up, but
he only saw his father occasionally growing up. Roland resents his father leaving the family when he
was just a young boy and starting a family with a new woman. Isolation is when one feels
completely alone, disconnected, and secluded and it is a process where an idea or memory is
divested of its emotional component (Cooper, 2003).
Death is something that has caused Roland s only male role model and support system to be taking
away from him. The death of his step father is what caused the emotions he had for his biological
father to matesized and to be projected upon others in his life.
Roland has a lack of self esteem and feels like he is not worthy of love unless he forces upon
others. This lack of self esteem stems from his father abandoning him and starting another family to
replace him. Roland feels that he was not even good enough for his
Compare 1928 To Today
Price Comparison 1928 vs Now Have you ever wondered why everything is more expensive then
it was many years ago? For this research paper I will be comparing the prices of gasoline, the
price of the car that Atticus drives in To Kill a Mockingbird (a 1928 Chevrolet National), and the
price of the average house in Monroeville, Alabama (the town that Maycomb, Alabama is based
on) from what they were in 1928 to the price they are today. The first of the three that I ll be
covering is gasoline. Back in 1928 the average price of gasoline was anywhere from twenty to
twenty five cents per gallon. In today s world, the price is over tenfold what it was in 1928 at a
staggering two dollars and ninety cents per gallon. This is an over thirteen hundred percent
increase in the price of gas. After doing some research, I discovered that in the book To Kill a
Mockingbird, Atticus drives a 1928 Chevrolet National. Back in 1928, this car costed around seven
hundred to eight hundred dollars. Today, the same car could cost you anywhere from nine thousand
dollars (this would need heavy restoration to be able to run) to twenty four thousand (this would be
in almost perfect condition) dollars. At the low end, this is a... Show more content on [Link]

I couldn t find out what kind of house the Finches live in in To Kill a Mockingbird, so I went with
the next best thing. Now Maycomb, Alabama isn t a real place, but it is based off a real place
called Monroeville, Alabama. Using this information, I research the common types of houses in
Monroeville back in 1928 and today and came up with two pretty similar houses to use for a
comparison. The 1928 house was an Honor Bilt Gladstone with two floors, three bedrooms, a living
room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. This house costed around two thousand dollars in
1928. A similarly built house today costs a whopping one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars.

The Impact Of Hopelessness On Prognosis Of Mental Health
Impact of hopelessness on prognosis of mental health It is believed that humans are driven by
internal forces or emotions that are felt extensively and expressed irrevocably. Joy, gloom, anger,
frustration, desperation all shape the course of events in the life of a human and grants humanity
the signature resilience and the eternal will to survive. However, not all human emotions serve to
fill the mankind with satisfaction. Hopelessness, the state of being devoid of any hope to
complete or to reach a destination, is often characterized by lack of motivation and will to achieve
what one desires coupled with the thinking that nothing or no one can do anything about their
condition. According to Valtonen, (2011, p. 9), if the impact of hopelessness on a physically sound
person can drive them to the depths of self pity and a feeling of uselessness, its effect on a mentally
ill patient can result in poor prognosis and an even worse outcome such as relapse or suicide.... Show

On a personal level, it can transform into other serious mental issues like depression and suicide
ideation which adds to the ever present mental burden of dealing with mental illness (Acosta,
Aguilar, Cejas, Gracia, 2013, p. 52). It can also lead to relapse of the mental disorder the patient
was initially diagnosed with and can result in medication noncompliance. All these factors result in
poor prognosis and a generally unfortunate outcome in the form of further deterioration of the
mental disorder. Furthermore, the impact of hopelessness is not only on the disease process but
also on the inter personal relationships of the patient and can alter the perception with which a
person views the world, which has a social impact on the patient s life at home and their relationship
with the members of society (Yanos, Roe, Lysaker, 2010, p.

Graduate School Admission Essay Sample
No one in my immediate family has ever even had the good fortune to apply to a graduate school,
but I have always contemplated going to graduate school even before I began my undergraduate
career. That is the kind of person I am always strategizing my next plan of action. More importantly,
I have always understood the importance of having a master s degree. While I have always had my
heart set on attending graduate school, I was previously unsure about the specifics of how I would
earn my master s degree. Now I am confident that getting a Master of Health Administration from
Johns Hopkins Universitywould help me accomplish much more than simply my career goals.

There are 3 fundamental reasons why I am applying to this program. First, this program would help
me achieve my career goal. I have taken a keen interest in healthcare consulting and I would
appreciate a job at a company like McKinsey, Deloitte, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Healthcare

By the time I graduate I will have been a part of the Zhu lab for 2 years. At the Zhu lab, I have been
assigned to numerous projects, but the one that stands out is Drug Transporter Mediated Drug Drug
Interaction between Metformin and LCZ696 . I was involved in every part of this project; my
colleagues and I designed this experiment, conducted it, troubleshot it, analyzed the results, and even
presented our findings at a symposium. The project used techniques like mass spectroscopy, high
perfromance liquid chromatography, and tissue cultures to observe the drug drug interaction. While
there were numerous obstacles because I had never participated in a project like this, and there were
times when the experiment was not working and we had to troubleshoot the problem, at the end of
the day, we always persevered. These projects were incredibly daunting, but, ultimately, gratifying,
and allowed me to develop fundamental research
