1907 Bankers Panic
In 1907, the United States went through a financial crisis known as the 1907 Bankers Panic. Out of
necessity, President Roosevelt and Congress devised a system that would aid the economic position.
A small group of nationally known financial moguls and politicians gathered at Jekyll Island and
created the outline that became the Aldrich Plan for the growth of the Federal Reserve System.
Attending the Jekyll Island meeting with Aldrich were:
Prominent European banker and Kuhn, Loeb, Co. partner Paul Warburg, who would later serve on
the Federal Reserve s first Board of Governors and whose knowledge of European central banking
was crucial to the meeting s success.
J.P. Morgan Co. senior partner Henry Davison.
National City Bank of New York president Frank Vanderlip.
Banker s Trust of New York vice president Benjamin Strong, who would later head the Federal
Reserve Bank of New York.

The group worked around the clock, grappling with questions such as who would own the central
bank, how many institutions it would contain, and how open market operations would be
conducted (Diaz Unzalu and Maze). In December 1913, the Federal Reserve Act established the
Federal Reserve System to remedy the conditions underlying the money crisis that had
overwhelmed the countries financial crisis for many years. Congress has amended the act several
times since to develop the Fed s ability to foster a sound financial system and a healthy economy.
Today, many economists are critical of the Fed s decisions in the early 1930s because they believe
the decisions made by the FED s, declining to make loans to banks based on poor business
decisions of the banks, increased the severity of the Great Depression (Hubbard, R. G., and O Brien,
Personal Communication Styles Paper
Good communication is key to having successful personal and professional relationships. In some
situations it can be necessary to adjust communication styles in order to communicate more
successfully (B. Reece Reece, 2017). In this journal entry I will discuss the dominance, and
sociability scales, as well as my own personal communicationstyle.
When looking at my coworkers the person that I think of that is most dominant is Lisa. A person
who is considered high on the dominance scale gives advice freely and frequently initiate
demands. They are more assertive and tend to seek control over others. (B. Reece Reece, 2017, p.
54). At times, because of where she falls on the dominance chart, she can come across as being
bossy or demanding. This can make it difficult to communicate effectively with her. On the other
side of the dominance scale, is my coworker Kelli. Unlike those that tend to rate high on the
dominance scale, those with low dominance are more restrained and tend to be followers (B. Reece
Reece, 2017). This creates a barrier to interpersonal relationships when she is given the responsibility
of being in charge of the other nurses. She has a difficult time delegating ... Show more content on

Reece Reece, 2017). My coworker Amy has many of these characteristics. Amy is very talkative
and open about her personal life. This can be a barrier to interpersonal relationships because
sometimes she can revel too much of her personal life, which in a professional setting can come
across as inappropriate. Those considered low on the sociability scale tend to be reserved and
formal in social relationships (B. Reece Reece, 2017, p.57). One of the doctors that I work with
tends to be very serious, reserved, and does not engage in personal conversations. This can make him
come across as unfriendly and cold, which makes him difficult to communicate
A Comparison Of Leadership In Henry V And Saint Joan
The Struggle for Leadership In the plays Henry V by Shakespeare and Saint Joan by George
Bernard Shaw, there is a distinct prevalence of how social class impacted both of their societies.
In Henry V , King Henry was an elite member of his society who was viewed as a hero and a noble
leader. Although status can create an impact on leadership and trust, not all heros were shown to
have high social status. In Saint Joan, Joan was a peasant girl who still, despite her rank in society,
was able to become an impactful leader and women s rights activist. Throughout both of these
plays, two people both had the drive to become significant leaders, despite their varying social
statuses. Along with analyzing the social status of each of the characters, both also incorporate
forms of ethos, pathos, or logos to influence their audience. Although both of the speeches provide
supporting evidence of ethos, pathos, or logos, Shakespeare is more successful in providing a
speech and a strong, male lead character to inspire and motivate his audience, while Joan of Arc
lacks the appeals based on her social status and the impact her gender has in society. In Henry V,
King Henry V delivers an empowering speech, Saint Crispin s Day Speech, which is argued it is
one of the greatest motivational speeches of all... Show more content on [Link] ...
His use of appeals proves this to his men. His sense of ethos provides a sense of equality and
pathos which incorporates an emotional draw to the troops. King Henry s speech not only
empowers, but also is successful in proving to his troops that they can win the battle. Through this
speech, Shakespeare s use of providing a sense of equality, despite Henry s social status, as well as
using emotion to prove their ability to win the battle, provides clear evidence of how empowering
the Saint Crispin s day speech is in comparison to Saint
Protestant Religions Evolution
The Evolution of Protestant Faiths After Martin Luther decided to stand up to the Catholic Church
in the 1500 s, Protestant religions began to multiply extremely quickly. This explosion of new faiths
began all because of one man, who believed that what the Catholic Church was doing was wrong.
Martin Luther defied the church, wrote of ninety five theses, got excommunicated, and triggered a
Protestant Revolution. Even though this man stood up for his beliefs, not everything he did was
right, and it s important to point this out, to show that everything, no matter how good, has its flaws.
Martin Lutherbelieved that the Catholic Churchmade a profit off of fake relics and indulgences and
strictly believed that those acts were intolerable. In

This is another disadvantage as can be noticed in the international firms that maintain presence in the
country. This is because there is a need for competitiveness to be on a level ground if these firms are
to be profitable, but the note from all indication is that the chances of these firms to successes are
limited as a result of the limitation in their competitive capacity because the government has already
given the local firms a higher competitive advantage by imposing higher task on international brand,
and limiting the chances of these international brand to adopt price based competitive

the U.S. Know it s a global event that people from all over the world celebrated. Before the
movement started in the 1970 s, a great oil spill happened that Santa Barbara had in California,
1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping the
environment and teach the public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). Millions of people
went to the street to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial
development. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial
revolution. In addition, humans have been overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored
the environmental needs for many years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success
in protecting the environment. There are three main reasons why this movement is successful: The
first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems,
the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have to the movement and lastly, is the
overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an earth day activity. First, Gaylord
Nelson wanted there to be a

Walmart Disaster Prevention
Prior to the devastating September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, the level of preparedness of local and
federal first response agencies including Fire Department of New York (FDNY), the New York
Police Department (NYPD), the Mayor s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and the Port
Authority Police Department (PAPD) was not well organized (Kean Hamilton, 2004). According to
the Kean and Hamilton (2004) on 9/11 commission report, the following explain their prior
preparedness. First, the PAPD did not have a standard operating procedure concerning how different
commands should communicate over radio in case of a terrorist attack. This meant confusion in
communication over radio in during the terrorist attack. Second, the FDNY s radios performed...

Adderall Research Paper
Adderall is prescription drug that is a derivative of two forms of Amphetamine: l amphetamines and
d amphetamines, the latter being the larger portion (makes up 75%) as well as the more potent of
the two [6]. Amphetamine (then called Benzedrine ) was first synthesized in the early 1900 s
through a serendipitous discovery while searching for a cheaper substitute of another drug called
ephedrine. The chemist who discovered this new drug, G.A Alles, then conducted experiments and
found that this new drug was powerful stimulant. As a result, it was introduced to the public in 1935.
It was advertised as a treatment for narcolepsy, mild depression, post encephalitic Parkinson and later
as an appetite suppressant. Reports of improvement in intelligence... Show more content on

ADHD is linked to a dysregulation in the catecholaminergic systems (dopamine, norepinephrine) in
the prefrontal cortex and subcortical regions, both of which are implicated in many cognitive
functions such as prioritizing stimuli, impulsivity and attention [3]. Seeing as amphetamines are
involved in these same systems, one can see why they can be used to treat problems involving those
regions. Amphetamines have a high affinity for catecholamine transporters, especially VMAT2,
which a vesicular monoamine transporter that carries newly synthesized monoamines in the cytosol
into vesicles at the nerve terminal for storage until they are to be released following an action
potential. It competes with endogenous monoamines for transport, and as a result, the cytosol
remains full of monoamines because their translocation into vesicles is inhibited. In addition,
amphetamines also inhibit monoamine oxidase, an enzyme that metabolizes intracellular
monoamines, further increasing the level of free monoamines which spurs the VMAT2 to mobilize
the monoamines from the cytosol and release them into the synapse, a process called reverse
transport [1]. As a result, people with ADHD can function without their usual cognitive impairments.
New studies have recently shown that
Fiesta 1980” and “Daddy” Essay
Fiesta 1980 and Daddy Both poems are about memories of the relationship with their father.
However, the experiences are very different. The children presented in Fiesta 1980 by Junot Diaz
and Daddy by Silvia Plath suffers an internal struggle because of their fathers. In Fiesta 1980 there
is a chance to improve the relationship where as in Daddythere is no hope because the father is
dead. In Fiesta 1980 we can tell the story is told in the first person by and adolescent Latino boy.
The story is mainly about the struggles of an immigrant familyas they wake up from a nightmare in
Santo Domingo only to find themselves in another nightmare, except this time it s in America.

When the father takes Yunior on short trips in the van, so Yunior can practice not vomiting,
Yunior enjoys the time alone with his dad and feel loved. It is interesting how Junior only
experiences carsickness in the lime green van his father drives. He notes that he never had
trouble with cars before that van was like my curse . I can assume that since Junior first met his
father s mistress during a trip in the van, which leads me to believe that Yunior associates the
vehicle with the crushing emotional distress of learning of his father s infidelity. I feel the poem
Daddy is a work of rage and powerlessness of her hate towards her father s death and then how she
tried to control this rage by creating a new father in her husband. Her husband is seen in two
metaphors, a Nazi and a vampire. The vampire drank her blood , which shows his possessiveness
over her. Which correlates once more to how her husband is a model of her father: they both
confined her. The metaphor of Nazis brings an understanding of her personal pain and suppression.
In my opinion of the two works the one that seem to deal with the theme in a more constructive,
realistic, or positive way is Fiesta 1980 . Parts of this story are funny, but mostly there is a sense of
real tension between the mother and her sons. However later in the story even this relationship is a
source of conflict as Yunior and Rafa must conceal their father s indiscretions. I would argue that the
