The Importance Of Gun Control Laws In The United States
Should there be gun control laws either on state and federal level? According to the National
Crime Victimization Survey, 467,321 people were victims of a crime committed with a firearm
in 2011. Americans nowadays are faced with constant terror in the streets, teen age gang members
are constantly shooting other gang members for turf to sell drugs or show their power to rival
gangs, children are more than likely to be caught in the crossfire of gang related shootings or
drive by shootings. We can t ignore these crimes and the damage it has done to our society in a
whole. However, the effort by some individuals to eliminate the legal ownership of firearms does
not address the real problem we face, and by doing away with the banning of
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi Inspiration
The renowned baroque composer, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, was born on the 4th of March, 1678, in
Venice, Italy to Giovanni Battista Vivaldi and Camilla Calicchio. During childhood, he found
himself surrounded by his five siblings, Margarita Gabriela, Cecilia Maria, Bonaventura Tomaso,
Zanetta Anna, and Francesco Gaetano Giovanni Battista. Francesco, like Vivaldi, would find music
to be his calling. He would later teach a young Vivaldi the art of the violin. Vivaldi s younger years
were hard for him; he suffered from strettezza di petto, tightness of the chest; in other words, he had
asthma. His asthma would prevent him from playing any wind instruments for the rest of his life.
When Vivaldi became a young adult, he pursued priesthood, finally being ordained in 1703 when he

Vivaldi played a solo accompaniment excellently, and at the conclusion he added a free which
absolutely astounded me, for it is hardly possible that anyone has ever played, or ever will play, in
such a fashion (Johann Friedrich Armand von Uffenbach). Vivaldi composed the majority of his
works at the orphanage; over sixty religious vocal pieces, multiple sonatas and cantatas, and an
absolute multitude of concertos. He was appointed maestro de concerti (music director) in 1716,
after having been voted out of the position of maestro di coro (choirmaster) a year earlier due to not
matching standards. Of course, matching said standards was extraordinarily difficult as he had to
compose an entire concerto by every evening meal, a tall order for even the most prolific of
The Crucible Movie Review
The Crucible The movie the crucible is based upon a play that was written by an author by the
name of Arthur Miller. The movie is based around the Salem witch trial which took place in
Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. Where a bunch of young girls in the community of Salem had just
simply went into the woods with an African American slave woman named tituba to create a love
potion for young men to fall in love with them like any other normal young girl might think would
just be fun. The girls were then seen dancing naked in the woods by reverend parris which
happens to be one of the girl s uncle and this is pretty much where all hell broke loose in Salem.
(The Crucible 1996) As the movie goes on it goes on to show that all the girls that... Show more

The girls would get into weird poses and faint and things like that to show that they were being
possessed by the witches. The Indian slave of reverend Paris was then accused of being a witch
and when it came time for her trial she just admitted to being a witch and said if they were to
touch her she would put a spell on them and she ended up being let go free. The only victim of
the Salem witch hunt that was not a hung was a man by the name of Giles Corey who fought for
his wife and was condemned as a witch. He had a board placed on his chest and they stacked rocks
on it until he was dead.
Corporate Management Related Policies And Decisions On...
Board of Directors are made up elected officials that represent the stockholders to establish
corporate management related policies and to make decisions on major company issues
(Investopedia) Board of directors have a dual mandate to function both as an advisory board and and
oversight board. In their advisory role the board will consult with managementregarding strategic and
operational direction of the company (Larcker 2). As an oversight board they will monitor company
performance and reduce agency cost ( Larcker 2). Board of Directors are made of all different kinds
of people. The average age has been increasing in the last 10 years raising from 60 to 63. Currently
38% of newly elected directors are retired, and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number of companies that split these two roles has increased in the last five years from 39%
to 45% for S P 500 boards (SpencerStuart 21). The chairman will schedule the meetings and set
the agenda. They will also coordinate actions of the committees ( Larcker 5). Decisions made by
the board will be put to a majority vote of all board members. The board of directors for
corporations are compensated for their time and knowledge when severing on the board. The
average total compensation for S P 500 directors is $249,168 (SpencerStuart 33). The most popular
way that directors are compensated is with stock options. Cash rewards is another way that
directors are compensated (SpencerStuart 33). Non profits also have boards of directors, but
their boards are usually not compensated. Credit unions are an example of a not for profit
organization that has an all volunteer board of directors. A Board of directors should be act
independent from the management team. The directors should not be managing the company. The
board should act solely in the interest of the firm (Larcker 4). Board members should act on a
fully informed basis, in good faith, with due diligence and care, and in the best interest of the
company and the shareholders (OECD 24). The board will work to treat all shareholders fairly.
Board members are required to disclose to the board whether they, directly,
Why I Want To Study Chemical Engineering
Society needs engineers that can and will change the world. I want to study Chemical Engineering
because of its increasingly significant role in our society, particularly across a variety of industries
from petrochemicals to environmental technology. Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering
that applies physical sciences (physics and chemistry), life sciences (microbiology and biochemistry),
together with applied mathematics and economics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use
chemicals, materials and energy. It is about making processes and facilities function more efficiently.
In the first paragraph I will be talking about the founder of Chemical Engineeringand how it started.
In the second paragraph I will be talking about how to be a chemical engineer. In the third paragraph
I will be talking about the history of chemical engineering and I will finish everything off in the last
paragraph.
The founding father of chemical engineering is George E. Davis. He was born in July 27, 1850 in
Eton, United Kingdom and died in 1960 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He was the oldest son in
his family. Davis studied at the Slough Mechanics Institute while working at the local gas works,
and then spent a year studying at the Royal School of Mines in London before leaving to work in
the chemical industry around Manchester, which at the time was the main centre of the chemical
industry in the UK. He worked as a chemist and an inspector for three years. He married
An Analysis Of Alice Walker And Kate Chopin
Heritage, a lot of people see it as being only the past, with no significance to their everyday lives
whatsoever, others see it as merely objects and money passed down from older generations to
their younger generations, but really heritage means much more than that. Ones heritage is the
lessons learned from elders and passed down to their children and grandchildren to help them not
make the same mistakes they made before, heritage is the roots that makes a person who they
are. The world without recollection of its s heritage, is a world without progress, a world that
only stands still waiting for the same missteps to cycle back around. A person with no knowledge
of their heritage is a person with no knowledge of themselves, and not knowing one s self can lead
to mishaps directing that individual down a path they would otherwise be able to avoid with a
keen understanding of where they originate. Alice Walker and Kate Chopin both touch on the
struggles and outcomes of not knowing or taking advantage of one s heritage through their stories
Everyday Use and Desiree s baby. In both of the stories, the antagonist Dee/Wangero, and Armand
has problems with whom they truly are because of their lack of knowledge and acceptance of who
they truly are. The misfortune of not appreciating one s heritage is clearly identified in Alice Walker
s Everyday Use. The character used to demonstrate the tragedies that follows one who doesn t
treasure their heritage throughout the story is
Closets To My Personal Ethical System
Everyone has their own moral ethical beliefs that drive their everyday decisions. Ethics helps us
determine what is right and wrong and sets a guideline which makes each person accountable of
their own actions. Your moral character assist in suppling attributes for making decisions,
creating relationships with others, and will benefit in creating your own individual personality.
Rae (2009) covers seven ethical systems which I will describe two of them, one that is closets to
my ethical belief system, and one that I believe is the farthest away. Ethical systems in our own
life are beneficial because it drives our beliefs and values regarding right and wrong. Given the
seven choices, the system that closely resembles mine would be the Deontological system which
has three main systems, Divine Command Theory, Natural Law, and Ethical Rationalism (Rae,
2009, p. 17). Out of the three, Divine Command Theory is the one that fits my ethical behaviors
because under this theory, the importance of Biblical principles is expressed. This system is
characterized by focusing on adhering to independent moral rules which directs us to provide
guidance in our moral duties. For a Christian our moral duties, rules, and responsibilities come from
God and are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory focuses on the concept that all values are culturally created and therefore are not
objective (Rae, 2009, p. 85). The way I view it, is that the different cultures each have a way of
thinking, feeling, and behaving. However, each culture can have their own way of thinking about
ethical principles but one can t override the other. Especially for God s commandments, these are
moral principles that were written for all types of cultures and generations. I would have difficulty
saying that murder is reasonable in one culture and not another, because the way I view it is that the
definition of the act is what we define and not how the culture views

Pastor Karl at the Whitney Avenue Congregational Church
Pastor Karl at the Whitney Avenue Congregational Church
In this leadership study case we see the 42 year old first time pastor Karl facing a new
organizational culture at 150 year old Whitney Avenue Congregational Church compared with his
previous experience at Community Fellowship church where he tried to initiate some changes
hopping that will make a difference in the congregation. After a couple of years teaching at a
religious school, he went to seminary and completed all his coursework for Doctorate in Ministry.
Now he was for the first time in a full time position as a pastor. Even he was a pastor for ten months
at Whitney; he was still considered a newcomer by the power holders , which were a few old

In the same time he was wondering how to approach elder people from the church and what steps to
take just to be an effective change at Whitney Avenue Congregational Church. A few of church
members had a fear that Pastor Karl will make more changes than they would like to see changed.
One of the congregational leader Hank, during a conversation with the 40 years old parishioner
Tim, explained how important is for them to keep the church open at any cost for older
parishioners and the only thing that kept them opened was the desire and willing to help others, to
be loving and supportive. Years ago, Whitney Church was filled with 500 worshipers each Sunday,
now Karl noticed that in good Sunday 40 people attended and most of them were elder.
Even if he found resistance to his initiatives from the elder members, and growing pressure to
increase the number of the church members, his faith in God kept him motivated to start doing what
he had in mind such as a contemporary worship style, good childcare for young families, and an
evangelical outreach to the community.

and its effect on sexual and relationship statisfaction between 133 heterosexual couples attending a
midsize university using a statiscal sampling method. Couples were required to be in a relationship
for at least 1 year (198). Based off their Hierarchical multiple regression results the test stated that
higher desire discrepancy scores predicted outstandingly women had a low sexual satisfaction due to
the fact that they wanted to have a good

Humility In The Early Christian Community
One major issue that the early Christian community is the idea of humility. They had a major
problem with just putting trust in the Lord and listening what the Bible says. My brothers, do let us
have a little humility; let us forget our self assertion and braggadocio and stupid quarreling, and do
what he Bible tells us instead. (p 28). This passage from The First Epistle of Clement to the
Corinthians, shows that it is extremely important to just listen to the Bible and stop trying to figure
out and do everything ourselves. This is impossible and I believe that is what Clement was trying to
tell the Corinthians. Another issue that the early Christian community had was straying from the
Church Manual that was talked about in The Didache.

Route 66 Research Paper
Route 66
History and Culture
Route 66 was one of the original and most famous roads in the United States and was established
on November 11, 1926. Entrepreneurs John Woodruff of Springfield and Cyrus Avery of Tulsa
played a crucial role in promoting the concept of an interregional link between Los Angeles and
Chicago. However, their lobbying efforts did not bear much fruit until the initiation of the national
program towards the development of highways and roads. Notably, legislations for public roads first
appeared in 1916 and later revised in 1921. However, proper road constructions did not take place
until 1925 when the Congress enacted a more comprehensive version of the version of the road
construction act. Following the enactment, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Particular segments of the route, such as the Carpenter Park in Oklahoma was a two lane with a
breadth 16 feet. It is one of the preexisting roads that was re designated as Illinois Route 66 in
1926 during the inauguration of the Mother Road. It was paved with a mixture of cement and
gravel, while expansion joints were placed every 30 yards. It was also flanked by four inch curbs
and four foot gravel shoulders. On the other hand, the Cayuga to Chenoa section was a bit wider
and thicker, having a width of 18 feet with a six inch deep Portland slab. Still, Illinois Route 4
was a bit different. The 1.53 mile segment was overlaid with a brick in 1932 and also has a 1,277
foot section paved with Portland cement. Along its course, the road also had several culverts to
