Beat Detective Narrative
Beat Detective was used to ensure that the drums were in time with the click track. Elastic audio
was used on the bass and guitars, although later in the process the producer felt that the guitars and
bass were still not entirely in time with the drums, therefore the author nudged any bars that where
visibly out of time with the grid in ProTools in time. This process was time consuming, although it
made a real difference to the tracks. The vocals were about a quarter note out of time on I Hear I
Forget , so the author nudged them in time too. The producer then went through each of the vocalist
s phrases and clip gained the words that were not clearly audible amongst the mix. For held notes,
volume automation was used to keep the tails of audio audible in the song.... Show more content on

This left the Subkick and M88 for the author to work with. The kick was gated and then
compressed, so the compressor did not reduce the transient peaks that the gate would detect. The
kick had 4dB of compression because it was quite inconsistent in terms of dynamics. After this was
applied, throughout the song the kick had a tendency to poke out here and there. The author used a
limiter to correct this problem and to reduce the kicks dynamic range even further. The author made
a boost of 4.5dB to 70Hz to provide the kick with more thud. The M88 picked up the kicks beater
very well and the author did not need to find that punchy frequency through EQ. In order to separate
the bass and the kick drum, the author added a second EQ and found each tracks most prominent
low end frequency, then notched them out of the each others
Essay on K101 Tmoo2
This essay will explore why working in someone s home can give rise to tensions and challenges for
both the service user and care worker and will go on to explore how these issues can be overcome.
When we read about Yetunde s visit to Angus and Ann s home it is clear that this was not an easy
one for all involved. From the onset, tensions were running high within the family home. Ann was
feeling frustration and despair at having to wait so long for support to arrive, coupled with guilt
that she failed to recognise Zoe s crisis at school. Ann began feeling resentful towards Bob as she
felt she was left to manage the heavy burden of caring for Angus alone. It is clear that the sheer
strain of the situation is impacting on all family ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Yetunde focuses on empowering Angus by encouraging him to fulfil his role as a grandfather.
Yetunde does this when she suggests to Zoe to show her grandfather the cartoons she has drawn.
This makes Angus feel needed and reminds him that he is an important part of the family, lessening
his feeling of being a burden. Yetunde also acknowledges Zoe s abilities which encourages positivity,
easing the stress and build up of tension, creating a happier environment within the family home.
Although originally Ann was disappointed and frustrated that Yetunde was not able to help with
lifting Angus and not able to carry out tasks such a collecting shopping, eventually Ann appears to
have accepted this by understanding Yetunde s role. Yetunde made her role clear to Ann and the
family right from the beginning. Being honest and setting out clear expectations and boundaries is
paramount in obtaining good working relationships, as the service user is not given any false
pretence. This may cause frustration and disappointment, however it is the role of the care worker to
ensure that their role is explained and understood by the service user and that expectations and
boundaries are discussed to avoid confusion and problems later on in the relationship. Being honest
gains respect and trust, these are key in building good, effective relationships between care worker
and service user.

The Legacy Of The Band By Paul Reed Smith Guitar Hall Of Fame
On July 20th, 1947 a man was born that would single handedly change American Popular music
with the strum of his Paul Reed Smith guitar. To this day, at age 67 he is still credited with being
the first to create music in which uniquely blends Latin infused rock, jazz, blues, salsa and African
rhythms. (Biography, 1) With a net worth of over 40 million dollars he can be described with
many professional titles including singer, songwriter, but most widely known as a guitarist for his
band Santana. Santana, described as a Latin Rock band was formed in 1966 in San Francisco,
California. The band s success would be obvious to music lovers all throughout America after their

The musical talent was embedded into Mr. Santana from a very young age. He was born in
Autlán de Navarro, Mexico, in 1947 to Jose Santana and Josefina Barrangan. His musical ability
stemmed from his overwhelming exposure to mariachi, also known as folk music from Mexico.
Because of his father, whom happened to be a professional violinist, he had the violin mastered
by age five and by the age of eight, fully embraced the guitar. As he would continue gaining skills,
his family would continue moving from place to place to find work for his father. In one location
known as Tijuana, Santana used inspirations such as B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Little Richard
while playing American rock and roll with a blues flare for local strip clubs. Finally, the move to
San Francisco brought work to not only his father but teenage Carlos. Great opportunities sprung
up in San Francisco for the ambitious teen. As his musical ability flourished he was quick to
become recognised by colleges such as California State University and Humboldt State University
but as most musicians do, he opted out of college to focus on his music. With the inspiration of
finally being able to witness his idol, B.B King, Carlos Santana decided to work jobs bussing in
restaurants, save of every penny, and spark the journey to becoming a full time musician.
Interestingly enough, his debut moment was brought upon this world completely by accident.
Santana was a frequent spectator at Bill Graham s Fillmore

The Ruwanwelisaya Temple in Sri Lanka
Theravada is considered to be the more conservative side of the two major branches of Buddhism.
Theravada Buddhism developed from the sect called Vibhajjavada that was established in Sri Lanka
in the 3rd century BC. Sri Lanka is the oldest continually Buddhist country in the world. Theravada
is also the dominantly the main religion in this country, officially introduced in the 2nd century BC
by Mahinda the son of the emperor Ashoka. This religion is also in spread throughout Southeast
Asian countries that include: Thailand, Myanmar/Burma, Cambodia, and Laos. During the 1st

This form of Buddhism also focuses on the individual s enlightenment to become an Arhat which
means worthy one . An Arhat is a person who realized enlightenment to be freed from the cycle of
life and death (Buddhism in Sri Lanka). Standing 300 feet tall and 950 feet in circumference the
Ruwanwelisaya is regarded as one of the most important stupas in Sri Lanka, and one of the most
sacred places for Buddhists. In 161 BCE the Ruwanwelisaya was built by king Dutugamunu.
Sadly the king did not see the end of the stupas construction. The stupa has a statue of the kind
outside its doors in memory of king Dutugamunu that began its construction. Latter, Buddha s
relics where sent to the Ruwanwelisaya that include: Buddha s alms bowl, right collar bone, hair
relic, and tooth that is still used for ceremonial purposes in the stupa. This ceremony is called The
Festival of the Tooth which is only held on a full moon in August. Until the festival the relics are
not to be seen, but covered by beautiful gold shrines with many caskets protecting it. Buddhist
monks, and guards keep the relics of Buddha safe from any threat (Buddhism in Sri Lanka) This
tour of the stupa was virtual because it is in Sri Lanka. The Ruwanwelisaya is a circular drum on a
square base with a long square succession off of the top of the dome. This structure is very sacred to
Buddhists around the world because it architecturally entails Buddha s teachings. Its dome
Third Voice In The Abortion Debate
Third Voice in the Abortion Debate There is a third side to the abortion debate. A large and
growing number of people, religious, and non religious alike, recognize a woman s right to an
abortion to be a fundamental freedom in this country; a freedom protected by law. Their view on
abortion is based on the simple truth that choice is the operative word. This Third Voice is opposed
to the practice of abortionon moral grounds, but also assert that the separation of Church and State
extents to the right of a woman to do with her body as she decides. Further, the Third Voice accepts
the law of the land, and advocates the possibility of better, and objective pre and post abortion
counseling and education to all regarding abortion.

Hannibal Lecter s Identity and Ethos Essay
Hannibal Lecter s Identity and Ethos
Anthony Hopkins, as Hannibal raises a few interesting ideas about reality, identity and our
perception of the serial killer. First of all, the movie would have never been made if Hopkins, had
not agreed to do the sequel (Sterritt). Second, even though Hopkins, has taken on numerous roles,
his memorable roles (besides as Hannibal Lecter) are not so villainous such as his characters in
Remains of the Day or Shadowlands. In relation to this ethnography of the audience viewing the
film, Hannibal s ethos is directly tied to Hopkins, ethos and it shows in audience reactions.
Movie makers know the power of celebrity in American society, and as Americans, we usually like

The character, Hannibal, could be analyzed within any of Baudrillard s four orders, as aspects of
his character fit into any one of the categories. Under the first order, Hannibal may be seen as a
symbol or sign of an actual serial killer who may live in the present doing similar things. However,
our morality resists this notion because we don t want to believe such evil exists in
reality. But, to complicate matters, Dr. Lecter is a psychiatrist by trade. As a psychiatrist, he shows
he is educated, well mannered, and intelligent not our typical image of a serial killer. If the words
and images of the media represent reality within this first order, the psychiatrist or psychotherapist
is increasingly important in today s society as the person who guides decisions and lives of people
in therapy thus eliminating morality and replacing it with relativism to the self. Therefore, as a well
mannered and polite psychiatrist, Hannibal gains credibility with the audience and thus becomes a
protagonist figure. So our basic reality in resisting the evil nature of Hannibal is supported by his
occupation and intelligence.
Within the context of the second order, Hannibal s character represents something that masks reality.
An analysis of this order leads to questions of Hannibal s identity mixed in with his ethos and the
nature of the horror film genre. The largest
Meaning Of Metaphysical Poetry
INTRODUCTION The word meta means after and so in simple terms , metaphysical means after
physical . Metaphysics cover a wide range of topics from religious to consciousness. It is all about
exploration and philosophy. Samuel Johnson first coined the term metaphysical poetry in his book
lives of the most eminent English poets. Metaphysical poetrycan be divided broadly in two parts.
They are love poems and religious poems. The habit of writing both these type of poetry is derived
from John Donne , who in his first phase of life wrote love poems in during his later life wrote
religious poems. The metaphysical poetsare known for their ability to surprise the reader with the
help of conceit, paradoxical images, colloquial language,... Show more content on [Link] ...
For example in the poem, The definition of love , the poet makes a series of paradoxical
assertions that pose a riddle. It invites the reader to identify the nature of the love of which its
speaks. The early stanza suggest love for god. The second half is related to love between man and
woman.
We can also see allegory in Marvell s poetry. One such example is Bermudas . Bermuda is an
allegorical poem of forty iambic tetrameters rhyming in couplets. The poem is in 3 parts a four
line introduction describing a small boat; a central section of 32 lines consisting of the song sung
by the sailors on the boat , in which the Bermudas are represented as an earthly eden and again a
four line conclusion. Bermuda is an island in the West Indies. They were often referred to as
earthly paradise in the early seventeenth century. Again the image from the small boat to the song
plays with two traditions. A) In Homer s Odyssey , Odysseus is advised that if he wishes to sail
past the sirens safely he must plug his men s ears with the help of wax and have himself tied to the
mast so that he is not seduced by the charm of their choices. B) In Petrarchan lyrics, a man s life is
often likened to a ship sailing through storms until he can reach the harbor the love of his mistress
American Idol Essay
American Idol
That rendition was impressive, but you do not look like an American Idol; however, we will give
you one more chance. Welcome to Hollywood! A person with a mediocre voice that is not
stunningly attractive would have a harder time advancing to Hollywood on American Idol. As the
judges say, an American Idol should be a distinct person with an exceptionally fantastic voice.
Culture is the training or refining of intellectual faculties and the way of life for a particular
people. My goal will be to critique the ideal of image on American Idol and discuss how people may
or may not get though based on looks alone. In the entertainment industry, images of the perfect
people are portrayed as women being skinny, tan, and firm ... Show more content on [Link]

There are tears and screams as contestants, one by one, get through to the next round. Along the way
to fame, the contestants on American Idol receive mean, nasty and often degrading criticisms from
the judges. Those who are not the most attractive seep through the auditions based on fantastic
singing and have a much harder time pursuing their hopefully destined career compared to a
naturally attractive singer. The drama that is stirred up during the auditions and throughout the show
is why people tend to watch.
Image is a big factor on American Idol because whoever wins the competition receives a million
dollar contract with a well known recording producer. A record producer would not want a less
than celebrity caliber person representing his or her label because image is a huge factor in our
society and they know for a fact that someone not photogenic would not sell. They want someone
who has some unique aspect to their appearance or personality that would attract people to buy
their album. Since the recording producer works for Simon, it is partly his duty to make good
decisions about who he says goodbye to, and who he puts though to the final thirty. Perhaps this is
why Simon is so critical and mean to people, but that is what America loves about him. Since
America loves first impressions and style, they will base their favorites on typically what they see
from the show. Different people in our society will enjoy different things about different
Cleaver Family Sociology
To begin with, a main point that has changed has to be social customs. For instance, in Leave it to
Beaver, during the episode named Beaver wont Eat, the Cleaver family was struggling in getting
their youngest son to eat his vegetables. To discuss this, the mother and father stepped out of the
room and entered the kitchen to solve the problem. They argued to find a solution and also were
peeking on Beaver through the door to see his progress with his brussel sprouts. This shows that the
parents do not want to fight in front of their children. The parents privately exit the room when there
is a dilemma. This is because most likely don t want to show that their motherand father are arguing
since they want to be that perfect nuclear family.
The Martha Rules By Martha Stewart
The Martha Rules follows in the footsteps of Martha Stewart, where she analyzes and suggests many
strong features in the business world and in life as well. Looking into the business world, I saw it
from a student point of view; scary, intimidating, and uneasy to figure out. Analyzing the title, The
Martha Rules, I expected a book with a multitude of rules that would be explained minimally with
little experience and background. From watching Martha Stewart, I understood her fame account and
her role in television shows, news, and cooking. The Martha Rules brought to my attention the
impact Martha Stewart brought to the business world as well as television, real estate, and other
areas while learning through different experiences what it... Show more content on [Link] ...
In my personal life, I have experience with promoting events of my church, Northridge Fellowship
church in Rogers, Mn. When I decided to organize and host a Girl s Night for the girls in the youth
group, I had to be creative in how I was promoting my audience to attend the event because I
needed to reach a specific audience of various ages. Using creativity and also common sense, I
promoted through various forms of social media, email, posters, and other products that brought
fifty girls to the event with over half of the girls being brand new to Northridge Fellowship church.
In conclusion, being creative when thinking of ways to promote information needs to be used in all
tactics of a strategy. Key concepts such as getting an audience s opinion on products and/or
companies is essential for keeping a relationship intact between the public and a company. On page 9
of The Martha Rules, Martha Stewart (Stewart) explains the importance of having an audience trust
a business and how engaging with the audience brought a better relationship with a company and the
public (Stewart, 9). An example in life is from the new Amazon football television program, Amazon
gains daily customers and with their trust, the customers will pay for the football program to save
money on watching the game rather than on television or in person (Novy Williams). Amazon is
gaining trust from their audience and
Eggshell Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to grow geodes on the inside of a cracked eggshell. The lab will show us
how the crystals are formed in a much shorter amount of time compared to the thousands of years
that it takes to form a real geode. The eggshell will represent the hard mineral shell of a geode and
the alum powder will represent the minerals that form the crystals in a geode. The independent
variable in this experiment is the eggshell and the dependent variable is the alum powder. During
the experiment, our group will add different amounts of alum powder to see if we can develop
different results from the growing geodes. We will learn how crystallization and sedimentation work
and how they affect the eggshell. We predict that the solution with the most amount of alum powder
will produce larger crystals. We will have three different tests, one with a small... Show more content

The name geode comes from the Greek word Geoides, which means earthlike (What is). A geode is
a mass of minerals that is created when those minerals seep into air pockets of the rock
(Incredible). Since we don t have the time to observe and experiment on real rocks we will learn
how to make our own using eggshells (Helmenstine). Natural Geodes typically have creamy white
or clear crystals, and the outside is dull and is very misleading. On a rare occasion, the rock can
have different crystal colors, for example, it could be blue, black, red, and purple (Martha). In this
experiment, we will use food dye to achieve those colors. In Mexico, there are geodes large enough
for people to hide in (Baggaley)! Which mineral ends up as crystals depend on the locations and
conditions such as temperature, acidity, and the type of rock the geode forms in. Quartz crystals are
more common in igneous rocks and silica is more common in geodes that form in sediment rocks
