Importance Of Extracurricular Activities Essay
Extracurricular Activities: High School and Beyond Despite the belief in extracurricular activities
harming students, they can actually be beneficial. Extracurricular activities benefit students by
helping them learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics; students that
participate in after school activities reap the benefits socially, outside of the classroom, and in their
future endeavors. They help develop students and shape them into who they will become in the
future. Extracurricular activities leave a positive impact on both the students and the school as a
whole, and are essential to the educational experience. Extracurricular activities can help students
learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. Students must adapt to
balancing their activities and school work appropriately, which helps the student get their homework
done on time and limit procrastination (Jackson). With less time to do homework, students are more
conscious about finishing all their assignments and use what time they do have more efficiently.
Students that participate in extracurricular activities realize they do not have as much time to
complete their tasks, so they compensate by planning out when they will complete their homework,
showing responsibility, and time management ( Why Extracurricular ). Responsibility and good time
management are essential skills that will allow students to be more successful as they grow into
adults. According
Moral Features Among The Parents
Parents are our first teachers; they are involved in our personality build, primary education, and
taking care of our lives. Indeed, it is a challenging job. These days; parents are flooded with mixed
messages about how to parent the right way . Restrictions and limitations on parenting starts to form
and shape, people started to question: Do we really have complete freedom over our own child?
The course readings When a Parents I LoveYou Means Do as I Say and Can You Name Your Baby
Messiah? constraint the ideas on what and how parents should and should not be doing. The reading
leads us on to the main problem of parenting, how the significant effects rom parents are suspected to
be manipulating and potentially abusive to children s future. Therefore parents should have rights
and obligations, not absolute freedom, over their children. Moral features among the parents are a
significant concept that proves restriction on parenting is necessary. Moral is one of the most
abstract humanbehaviors that concerns parents abilities to have autonomy and responsibility when
they take care of their offspring. Parents are expected to have a capacious and high ethical
responsibility in order to support their offspring emotionally and financially, at all time in any cases.
It is their duties and obligations to show interests, to spend time, to give encouragements, and to
teach disciplines...etc. There is a wide range of the ways parents can illustrate affections on
How the Philippine Gov. Measure Its Gdp and Gnp
GDP and GNP as economic indicators
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Product (GNP) are key figures in accessing the
status of a country s economy. These numbers are also used to gauge the competency of the
administration in steering the economic wheels of the country.
By definition:
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of a country s output. It is the market
value of all final goods and services produced within a given period of time by factors of production
within a country.
Gross National Product (GNP) is the total market value of all final goods and services produced
within a given period by factors of production owned by a country s citizens, regardless of where the
output is produced.

Menu Analysis Memo
In analyzing the sales data of starters and salads over the course of the first few weeks of this
semester, our current menu items present room for adjustment. There are menu items that are
exemplary and require little to no additional adjustments. Such items might include the truffle fries
and Brussel sprouts. However, we must importantly consider the sheer number of items that need
considerable adjustments. Over half of our starters and saladsconsist of dogs. These items of low
contribution margin (CM) and popularity present an opportunity to generate additional profits. The
following memo outlines the analysis and strategic implementation we will need to take in order to
create a successful menu.

It s not only healthy from a caloric standpoint. Sea vegetables can also be utilized as a substitute for
salt for guest who are conscious of sodium intake.
The house salad is very similar to the soba noodle in terms of both CM and MM. As we continue to
approach winter headlong, it will prove beneficial to develop salads with root vegetables such as
roasted radishes (Rossman, USA Today).
Our most unpopular dish the cube salad also turns out to be amongst our highest in CM. This
puzzle can be solved in a few ways. Our menu design doesn t provide much in the way of
effectively repositioning the cube salad to increase visibility. We can move the cube salad to the
top of the list of the salad section of the menu. The guests at Establishment have been proven to be
trustful of their servers. We can encourage guests to purchase the cube salad by offering it as a
special and having our servers actively suggest starting the course with this salad (Kasavanna,
Menu Engineering). Our cobb salad may look intimidating to some of our guests. It may take a lot
of effort for some individuals to actually consume because of the large chunk of lettuce in the
center of the plate. We can make the salad more palatable by breaking down the lettuce and
incorporating the ingredients of a cobb salad more effectively. Guests will be more inclined to
purchase based on a visuals presentation as a result (Kasavanna, Menu Engineering).

The Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck And The Grapes Of Wrath
The novels The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria
Viramontes both explore the plight of migrant farmers in California. Steinbeck tells the story of
white migrant workers during the Great Depression and Viramontes tells the story of Mexican
migrant workers. The novels deconstruct the perceived California dream in which great wealth
can be achieved through hard work by recounting the plights of migrant workers who recognize
the illusion and take action against it. Steinbeck s novel portrays the plight of the Joad family,
natives of Oklahoma. The Joads, a family of dispossessed farmers, travel to California searching
for work after the forces of large scale banking capitalism remove them from their land. They
chase the promise of a new beginning and the opportunity to find wealth because of the California
dream. Steinbeck narrates the journey of an underclass family achieving the Marxist construction
of class consciousness. Class conflict between wage slaves and the owners of the means of
production, social alienation through the separation of labor and profit, and dehumanization of
workers through the mass commodification of labor all appear in the novel. Class consciousness
defines the novel and is the method by which the Joad family is able to rise against the bourgeois
and capitalism. The Joads are a member of the proletariat and must work as laborers who are,
according to Karl Marx, A class of labourers, who live only
Taking a Look at the Inuits
Inuits are a community that originated 4000 years ago. The first inuit group is the Paleo Eskimos.
Inuits live in 53 different Arctic and Northern communities in Canada but also in several Southern
cities. 22% live outside of the Inuits Nunagat (homeland) while the other part lives inside of the
homeland. Pre Dorset culture is said to begin when the Paleo Eskimos settled on the islands of the
Canadian archipelago and northern Greenland. They had winter very difficult because at that time,
they had lacked technologies such as boats, dog sleds, skin tents and sources of warmth other than
small fire pits and wood fuels. They have very long winters but only a couple of months of summer
. In fact, it is one of the coldest places on earth and because of this all the Inuitpeople adapted to the
lifestyle, food, transportation etc. A shelter was needed to keep them warm, and protect them from
the harsh winter weather. The shelter is a snow house which they use in winter and named igloo. An
igloo is a temporary shelter that is made of snow blocks. They believe in animism which is a belief
that says all living and non living things have a spirit. These spirits have to be kept happy and there
are several guidelines Inuit people have to follow in order to make the spirits [Link] language

Personal Statement For Counseling Psychology
Counseling Psychology
I have decided to obtain my masters in Counseling Psychology at your institution, not only to
continue my educational path but to further my knowledge in helping the people in my community.
Personally I have always had a desire to help out people in my community especially with the power
of communication. Recently I have graduated from Virginia Union University and their I took two
psychology classes and it helped me realize that counseling and communicating with people was
something that I really wanted to do. I obtained my bachelor s degree in Elementary Education in
December of 2017 and want to do more with my career then to teach in a classroom. Wanting to still
work in the school setting by counseling those students who may need a little guidance. Counseling
is something that I know will take a lot of hard work and dedication, and I am ready to dedicate my
time to the program to obtain best outcome possible.
It is important that attend a school who have strong beliefs of cultural awareness, competence and
understanding of diversity. People are different and have different beliefs and practices, and for
me to attend a school who is accepting of all people it makes me feel very comfortable and
understood. Studying psychology at a school with strong commitment to different cultures is what
will make me feel comfortable in and out of the classroom. More so in the classroom because I will
not feel judged for answer a question incorrect or feel judged
Environmental Effects On Environment

Through industrial development we have diminished our soil, ruined farmland, trees and have
caused extinction of various species. All of these natural resources took over hundreds of millions
years to form and Americans have destroyed them all for the need to build more. David Brower a
prominent environmentalist says we have diminished our soil, fisheries, fossil fuels and we have
changed the climate. We caused the extinction of countless species by half. Over consumption has
reached a point of harming Americans health and the overall environment. According to John De
Graaf, David Wann and Thomas H. Naylor sixty nine acres of prime American farmland are lost to
development. Once you cut down and pave over farms the land is gone forever. The very thing that
humanity relies on is being taken for granted. Americas increase in consumption does have benefits
but the negative effects on the environment, American health and family outweigh the positive.
What once was an abundance of natural resources is now becoming hard to find. The magnitude that
this type of industrial development has on the environment is irreversible. The damage we are doing
can never be undone. Through our constant need for more we have managed to change the climate.
American Farmland Trust points out how 24 million acres of agricultural land has been developed
since 1982. In Bloomington Minnesota on over 100 acres stands the Potomac Mills
The Last Emperors Summary
Review of The Last Emperors: A Social History of Qing Imperial Institutions, Written by Evelyn S.
Rawski
Evelyn S. Rawski s book called The Last Emperors: A Social History of Qing Imperial Institutions
focuses on China s last imperial dynasty Qing (1644 1911), describing the political and social life
of the Qing s emperors and their families from the Manchu rulers perspective. As is shown in this
book, from the modern historical opinion, the reason why the Qing emperors succeeded in their
dominance was the early Manchu rulers adoption of a policy of systematic sinicization .1 However,
Rawski is against for this point of view, and gives her own thesis. Rawski argues that the Manchus
were not imitators, in fact, they were skillful innovators ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Elliott at the University of California, Santa Barbara shows many unique opinions. In this review,
Elliott states the situation of studies on Chinese history from the 17th century to the 20th century
before 1980s, in order to show the great significance of the publication of Rawski s book towards
the study of Qing dynasty, and how the author challenges the dominant views. In the author s
opinion, Rawski s book makes changes in the way of studying late Chinese imperial society, thus
handling with the historical events and institutions more adequately. And then, Elliott describes
how the content of the book is divided into three parts, and the major topic of each part. Finally,
Elliott presents the issues of Rawski s book. He thinks that the problem lies in how Rawski makes
connection with the issue of the Manchu s identity. In summary, Rawski s work on the Qing
imperium provides a new perspective on the Manchu rulers role in the economy, politics and
culture of the Qing dynasty. In her book, Rawski shows her historiographical complexity of the
topics and sources, her good sense to detail, and the breadth and depth of her research. For people
who are interested in the Qing dynasty or other imperial dynasties, and Chinese history scholars,
Rawski s book is a good choice for them to study the art of leadership, religion, imperial and
bureaucratic institutions, family and social structure in that
Discourse Analysis Of Van Debama
This paper is an attempt to do a critical discourse analysis of Obama`s speech On Countering
Violent Religious Extremism delivered on 18 February 2015 at the White House. The analysis
draws on critical discourse theories of Van Dijk and Fairclough to analyze the speech. Obama`s
choice of lexico grammatical items was critically analyzed based on van Dijk macro level analysis
to find out how power, ideology , context and mind control manifest in the speech. The analysis
shows how the social and political construction of US counterterrorism policy is made tactfully
throughout the speech and it explores the ways in which the war on terror has been institutionalized
in language. The notion of power and mind control are used skillfully to manipulate... Show more

According to van Dijk (1998: 352), Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) studies the way social
power abuse, dominance and inequality are enacted, reproduced and resisted by text and talk in the
social and political context. He identifies some of the dominant notions in CDA as power,
dominance, inequality, hegemony, ideology ,class, gender, race, discrimination , among others
which he labels as macro level of analysis . However, he posits that micro level of social order
involves language use, discourse, verbal interaction and communication. CDA, thus, tries to bridge
the gap between the two micro and macro
