Gay Adoption Essay
Gay parents are facing discrimination because of their sexual orientation. Twenty two states
currently allow single gays to adopt and 21 states currently allow gay and lesbian couples to
adopt in the U.S. (Mallon, 2007, p. 6). The ability of gay couples to rear a child should not be
denied only because they are gay. Homosexuals may be looked down upon by society, but they still
are humans and have morals. These morals they possess, may influence a child more than those
morals taught to a child with heterosexual parents. All over the world, children suffer in families
consisting of alcoholics, drug abusers, and sexual abusers (Powell, 2007, p.1). It is not possible that
these environments are safer than what would be provided by homosexual... Show more content on

Further, applicants for adoption should be accepted on the basis of an individual assessment of their
capacity to understand and meet the needs of a particular available child at the point of adoption and
in the future (Rosario, 2006, p.8). The United States is facing a critical shortage of adoptive and
foster parents. As a result, hundreds of thousands of children in this country are without permanent
homes. These children deteriorate for months, even years, within state foster care systems that lack
qualified foster parents and are frequently faced with other problems.
When a gay couple sought to adopt a boy, who had leukemia, had been neglected by his biological
parents, had lived in five foster homes, and whose adoption was favored by his legal representative,
but the judge deemed it not in the interest of a seven year old male child to be placed for adoption
into the home of a pair of adult male homosexual lovers . Three years of searching for a qualified
heterosexual couple failed. This and many other similar cases have denied children a family by
ignoring many qualified homosexuals (Powell, 2007, p.3).
This being an age when people are supposedly more open minded, why is it that gays are treated
this way just because of their sexual orientation? Many Americans are still
Factors Affecting Juror Behavior Towards Perpetrators and...
Our current study examines juror behaviour towards perpetrators and victims in a criminal trial
setting. Taken into account, are two factors hypothesized to influence the judicial outcome of
criminal trials in Canada and the United States. Primarily, that a juror s level of belief in a just
world (BJW) influences his or her decisions towards both the perpetrator and victim, with those
jurors measuring higher in BJW being more apt to blame the victim for his or her own misfortune.
Second, that the relationship between BJW and the victim blamingbehaviour of the juror is mediated
by whether the victim is portrayed as innocent, having done nothing to deserve victimization; or
portrayed as non innocent, having contributed to their own misfortune through careless or immoral
behaviour. We analyzed data for main effects of both BJW and victim type on outcome variables
perpetrator sentencing and victim monetary compensation. Data was further analyzed for possible
interaction effects between BJW and victim type using multiple regression analysis, retaining the
continuous characteristic of the BJW predictor variable. Results revealed no significant interaction
effects or main effectof BJW on either dependent variable, however, a significant main effect of
victim type was observed.
It is not uncommon for people in unfortunate situations to be cited as the source of their own
troubles. If someone has been mugged walking home, they must have somehow been responsible by

African American Stereotypes
African American IAT
George, Janel A: Stereotype and School Pushout: Race, Gender, and Discipline Disparities

DESCRIPTION:
George focuses on implicit bias largely in the educational sector and how that effects African
Americans with the emphasis on specifically the black female. Educationally facilities tend to
apply restrictions regarding disciplines on a sort of equality across the board basis; however, the
failure of recognition is that this method is not effective and results in long term psychological
disparities that will prove to affect an individual s well being well beyond their school years. Racism
is certainly still prevalent in society and perhaps even unintentionally woven into the very fabric that
has a huge impact on our ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Reflection:
This article was one of the most if not the most shocking of all. I have never even considered the
differences that African Americans must experience every day in an environment designed to grow
and feed their self image but this article proves that this may be destructing what was intended to
flourish a child. It changed the way I think of fairness in discipline, as it does make perfect sense to
consider the person s race, culture, socioeconomic status, gender and ethnicity when applying any
type of intervention with them, in any type of service. This would include educating yourself on
their history as well. You must seek out understanding when engaging with someone whose
background will be quite a different shade than what yours is painted. It has really made me
curious about school policies and if they were constructed out of a historical root of racism and
applied to transform the unaccepted into either a more acceptable, white American behavior or
facilitate their path to their thought of place in society overall, such as prison or a homeless shelter.
There is obviously a crisis in modern times and the impact it has may be one of the most of
influential as the power of the educational institution on a child must be largely one holding the most
High School Class, Veterinary Science
A high school class, Veterinary science. It is located at my high school, and it is one of the
classes that I am taking. I have this class once every other day, and only on the weekdays. All the
students that are in my agriculture class can access it. I have two Agriculture classes, but I will
only be reviewing my veterinary science class. I have had an Agriculture class since Freshman
year, and I am in FFA from this class. My genre for my subject is a high school classroom.
Agriculture is a good high school class, lessons that students can carry for life, with a teacher to
teach the students lessons they can carry for life, and a hands on classroom. I need to learn lessons
that I can carry on for the rest of my life. I do not... Show more content on [Link] ...
When I talk about learning life lessons that is what I mean. I want lessons that are taught in the
classroom but that I can use outside of class. A hands on classroom is ideal. In this classroom we
do have some hands on lessons. We do not have nearly enough though. There is usually not enough
funding for what we want to do. Rather than doing hands on things we take notes on the hands on
things. We usually cannot do things hands on and just end up doing work on the computer. I wish
that we could have more situations where we get do the lessons with the animal instead of with a
picture of the animal. Another article I read stated that It also encourages young pupils to do things
for themselves, which will help them with learning independently later on in life. This is why I
wish we could have more hands on learning. Hands on learning can be very good for this reason.
Students will then learn stuff for themselves rather than someone to do it for them. Of course
teachers are still directing the class but they now get to do things for themselves. This article also
stated that Often demonstrations will give students the main idea of how something works, but place
less emphasis on detail. Which is also very true. Learning certain subjects by doing them is not
necessarily easy, but
Tesco Marketing
INTRODUCTION

Marketing is essentially a matching process between the needs and expectations of customers, and
the organization s ability and capacity to satisfy them.
One of the main points of this process is the marketing planning.
The purpose of marketing planning and its principal focus are the identification and creation of
competitive advantage. Marketing planning is the planned application of marketing resources to
achieve marketing objectives.
In other words, it is the written document that describes your advertising and marketing efforts for
the coming year; it includes a statement of the marketing situation, a discussion of target markets
and company positioning and a description of the marketing mix you intend to use to ... Show more

Add to that a high rate of unemployment causes a drop in effective demand for goods, that demand
requiring for the production of goods.
While these economic factors are largely outside the control of Tesco, they have an undeniable
impact on the company business performance and its marketing decisions.
Tesco operates in a global world and is now located in several countries, and this international
business is still growing, but it remains dependent on the UK market. This excessive concentration
on a single market exposes them to risks and would be negatively affected by any slowdown in the
UK food market (as the crisis of mad cow in the 1990s)
Finally, the economic crisis, which is still current, tends to reduce the purchasing power of
consumers, who are much more reluctant and afraid to spend more than they can.

New technologies have had a great impact. For instance, online shopping has become a major factor
in Tesco s recent success.
Technology is the basis for the development of many products in the Tesco range. These new
technologies have provided consumers than the company itself.
Consumer satisfaction is higher because services are more personalized and responsive to each and
shopping becomes more enjoyable and seems less arduous. To obtain customer satisfaction, Tesco
has put in place in its stores the following technologies:
The Pros And Cons Of Public Schools

Dr. Rebecca Millan
Public schools are the way to go!
There are many types of ways kids acquire an education today; some of these happen to be public
and public schools. Some assume that private schools offer superior everything, justifying their
tuition costs (Great Schools Staff). In that case, people automatically convey the false belief that
private schools have a much better form of education. In reality, education in a Public school is
highly more advanced and experienced than any particular Private school, because of their social
involvements being opened to try new things, accumulating more experience for a smaller cost, and
having no limitations nor boundaries that will minimize student s skills and capabilities.
Public schools have been around for decades, and have formed one of our main options to pursue
an education in the 21st century. Researchers mentioned, We analyzed instructors and performance
for over 300,000 elementary and middle school students in 15,108 public, charter, and private
schools. What we found surprised us (Valerie Strauss). The experience these public schools carry is
real, from having a variety of students who practice different types of religion, to having people who
have been raised differently. Experiences like these allow the students to get comfortable with these
types of environments.
The message trying to be delivered there is that one day eventually all kids will end up in what is
called The Real World , and kids that have been raised and have been educated in an environment
with limited boundaries like private schools, might eventually be facing several obstacles. For
example, obstacles like not being familiar socializing well enough with others. That is probably one
of the toughest one in such way that growing up in private schools, an individual will always be
socially hanging out or making relations around the same kind of people. Not being able to develop
social relations with others just another reason why, students in public schools actually outperform
those in private schools (Valerie Strauss).
In various perspectives that s unscrupulous for students, a tremendous part of a student s education is
being able to
Socially Constructed Reality and Meaning in Notes from...
Socially Constructed Reality and Meaning in Notes from Underground

Just as the hands in M.C. Escher s Drawing Hands both create and are created by each other, the
identity of man and society are mutually interdependent. According to the model described in The
Sacred Canopy, Peter Berger believes that man externalizes or creates a social reality that is in turn
objectified, or accepted by him as real. This sociological model creates a useful framework for
understanding the narrator s rejection of ultimate reality or truth in Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes from
Underground. The reality in which the narrator tries to live in part II, and the reality that he rejects
in part I, are both created and, as such, are ultimately meaningless. ... Show more content on

Just as the hands of Escher s illustration define each other, man and society are in a constant process
of mutual recreation.

Successful internalization is exemplified by the underground man of part II. In this section, the
narrator s actions are dominated by a desire to fulfill his socially defined roles. Often calling his
actions bookish, the underground man tries to act out traditional cultural relationships. In his
relationship with Liza the narrator sees an opportunity to fulfill the role of the hero, uplifting the
poor, wretched prostitute. He asks her about her home life and warns her about the sickness she
could catch from her occupation, all in an attempt to play the hero and save this dejected prostitute.
The manufactured hero reflects,
I began to feel what I was saying and grew excited. I d been longing to expound these cherished
little ideas that I d been nurturing in my corner. Something had caught fire in me, some kind of goal
had manifested itself before me. (Dostoevsky 65). These
cherished little ideas are the cultural norms that the underground man is trying to fulfill. The narrator
s interactions with other characters in part II reflect a desire on his part to live out archetypical roles.
When he feels insulted by the officer, the narrator clings to the romantic notion of vindicating
himself through a duel. After detailing his plan to confront the officer
Of Temptation In C. S. Lewis The Magician Nephew
Temptation can be a very fierceful word when you think about it in your head. A lot of people
cannot resist temptation as it could be something that helps you enjoy something but then it
could cause life threatening consequences. As we learn something about temptation, this book
called The Magician s Nephew by Clive Staples Lewis (C.S. Lewis) is a story that occurred during
the 1900 s in the United Kingdom in a city called London. There is a young girl that is called
Polly Plummer who met a guy called Digory Kirke. Digory introduced himself to Polly as he did
not have any friends and he lives with his Uncle called Andrew and his mother. His mother has a
severe health issue. The protagonist are both Polly and Digory as they both are two curious children

The theme of the book, The Magician Nephew by C.S. Lewis is, resist temptation otherwise there
will be severe repercussions ahead, the three reasons are that when Polly was tempted to touch
the yellow ring causing her to disappear, Digory was tempted to ring a bell making Jadis to wake
up, and lastly Digory was tempted to eat the apple that Jadis encouraged him. Firstly, the theme
was present in the story when Polly was tempted to touch the yellow ring causing her to
disappear. When Polly and Digory were exploring Digory s uncle who is called Andrew has an
abandoned laboratory that he does his experiments, but ever since then he stopped. When Polly
and Digory were exploring his abandoned laboratory, they stumble across two different colour
rings. One of them is yellow and the other is green on a red tray. But what she noticed first was a
bright red wooden tray with a number of rings on it. They were in pairs a yellow one and a green
one together, then a little space, and then another yellow one and another green one. They were no
bigger than ordinary rings, and no one could help noticing them because they were so bright. (C.S.

November 2014 Dear Ms. Drew, Title : Procurement Routes and Contracts Stage 2 Following my
previous letter on stage 1 which is briefly about the design project, roles of architects and involving
consultants, next, I will continue with stage 2,the Procurement Routes and Contracts,as stated above.
1. I am concerned about your minimal understanding of procurement routes or the confusing array of
contracts that exist. Therefore, I will explain what a procurement route is and the advantages and
disadvantages of using a standard building contract over a bespoke one at the following pages. 2.
Other than that,in addition, I ll explain about the principles of Design and Built and Traditional
procurement routes and what is most advisable to you with regards to procurement route and
contract. Most project, before construction contract is being choosen, it is nearly crucial to think
about the most suitable procurement route. This is the way in which the client and contractor will
work together to realise the project, and will depend on several factors including
quality, risk, timing, budget and the extent to which you, as the client, wish to be involved in the
process of construction. As listed below are some different types of Procurement Route that may
have you heard before: Traditional Design and Build (D B) Management Integrated (Partnering) The

Essay on Tax Increment Financing
Tax Increment Financing

Economic growth is the focus of every city. Through economies of scale cities such as Chicago
and New York continue to experience great economic expansion. Continued growth, however,
opens up the gateway for urban sprawl and the lack of a centralized economy. As cities expand
their land use people disregard once thriving centers of industry and business and locate next to
newly developed Greenfield type businesses. Often times the only thing left in the wake are
rundown, abandoned business districts. In an effort to revitalize these deserted areas, councils in
charge of economic development will use many different policies. An occasionally controversial
policy is called a TIF or Tax Increment ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The increase in taxes paid is known as the increment the difference between taxes paid after
appreciation in relation to the base property tax. This newly acquired property tax revenue is used
to improve the infrastructure and pay off existing bonds. City improvements are probably the
greatest achievement of the TIF program. In Columbus, Ohio the TIF provides a tool to
redevelop a long neglected inner city site (Ball 1999). The site would call for a revamped on and
off ramp on I 71. After completion there should be a marked decrease in traffic congestion in the
area (Ball 1999). . Councilmen in Kansas City believe that street upgrades are critical because they
would provide a gateway to the proposed Town of Kansas Archeological Park (Davis 1999). Roads
are not the only benefactors of these programs. Overall aesthetics within the TIFs are also improved.
With the increase in property taxes, better looking housing replaces existing rundown buildings.
Carl Anderson, a resident of Chicago, states that Property values are going up, and it s starting to
look nice. I can remember when we first moved in 12 years ago and my car was in the back and
someone burned it (Podmolik 2000). A long with improved safety people are finding increased
street lighting, shrubbery, and green grass. Utilities like buried electric power lines, increased police
