Goals For Attending College
As a student at IUPUI i would like to accomplish a goal of obtaining a bachelors degree in
mechanical engineering. Another goal of mine is to be involved in clubs to meet people with
similar interests. I am an outstanding individual and self motivated student and expect to continue
to do so in college. My academic goals as a student have and will always be to achieve the best
grades that I can possibly obtain. I am an intelligent student and learn the best by being around
intelligent students, I also like helping people learn and grow academically. My last goal that I want
to achieve while attending collegeis to obtain a internship in my future career field in order to obtain
more knowledge in my field.
Clubs that I want to be part of are
The Success Of The Unification Of Italy
To unify a state, many components such as strategy, population willingness and cooperation are
needed. All of those were crucial for the unification of Italy, but moreover it was the two men that
have contributed the most; Count Camillo di Cavour and Giuseppe Garibaldi. They were completely
different. Cavour was the leading strategic power behind the unification and Garibaldi was the
national hero inspiring the masses. It cannot be denied that the success of the unification of Italy
depended on both of them. Although Cavour was the leading figure in the Italian Unification, its
completion would not have happened without Garibaldi s assertive actions.
Before the Italian Unification, Italy has not been politically unified since the Roman Empire. Italy
consisted of many autonomous city states and there was also a great influence of foreign dynasties.
Most of the North part of Italy belonged to Austria Hungary, the South part to the Bourbon dynasty
and the states of church, which were located in between to the Pope as the supranational sovereign.
The Pope himself also created another barrier against the unification together with France, Spain and
Austria Hungary. During every invasion, at least one ruler always stood on the side of invaders for
his own profit. Both the city states and the dynasties were resistant towards patriotic movements,
which were not of their own and fought neighboring states, representing a threat. After the rule of
Napoleon Bonaparte, forty years of
Abortion (Medical Law and Ethics
Medical Law and Ethics Project Ethical Question: Should abortion be abolished? Is abortion
murder? Should rape be considered a reason for a young woman to get an abortion? Ethical
Scenario 1: A beautiful 20 year old female having the time of her life, maybe going crazy having
unprotected sex while whoever and not caring or even thinking of her consequences. A few weeks
go by and the female ends up pregnant and automatically she decides to have an abortion because
she don t know the father or can t afford the child or just plainly doesn t want children. Does she
have the constitutional right to an abortion? Ethical Scenario 2: Across town another beautiful 20

There are still possibilities of infertility in the mother caused by doctor error or genetic
predispositions, psychological damage, an even smaller possibility of death that come from
getting abortions. There are many other options than to resort to abortion. Adoption, the use
preemptive birth control, like condoms, pills, I.U.D. s, and spermicides. 3. How does it make me
feel? I was raised Christian, where it is considered a sin to abort a child in the eyes of God. For
ethical scenario 2, her consequences are very disappointing and difficult but also very
understandable. Anyone could see clearly that this child would be a reminder of her tragic
situation. As for ethical scenario 1, that young lady was just completely being irresponsible and
now does not want to handle the true life responsibilities that came along with her irresponsible
decisions and lifestyle. In both cases, I must stay dormant due to the fact that I feel that gift of God
should not in any form pay the consequences of decisions way beyond that child s control, there is
always another option. That child was given the miracle of life and once that gift is given, that child
deserves to see life
Muscular System Lab Report
Introduction:
The muscular system has important functions within the human body. This system is responsible for
the movement of limbs, food and liquid, as well as the maintenance of body heat. Muscles are
distinctly known for their extensibility, elasticity, irritability and contractility [1].
The three main types of muscle within the human body are smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and
skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is the only type which is under voluntary control, and attach to
bones in order to move the skeleton [1].
The body contains many muscles, each responsible for moving a different aspect of the skeleton.
The Biceps brachii and the triceps brachii are two main muscles located in the upper limb. Biceps
brachii is responsible for flexing the upper arm; the triceps brachii work oppositely to the biceps
brachii and is responsible for extending the elbow [2]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is known as electromyography (EMG) [2]. The activity of targeted muscles can be identified
by the electrodes used in EMG because during muscle fibre contraction, electrical signals are
generated in a random manner. EMG is a vital tool in biomechanical, biomedical and sports related
investigations as it is simple, easy and painless to the subject being tested [3].
Aim: The aim of this experiment is to understand the relationship between the biceps brachii and
triceps brachii muscles and their roles in contraction and
The Triassic Era
The Mesozoic Era contains three geologic time periods including the Triassic Period ,from 252
million to 200 million years ago. The Triassic period was named in 1834 by the German geologist
Friedrich August Von Alberti (1795 1878). It was originally named the Trias . It got its name
because this period of geologic time is represented by a three part division of rock types in Germany
. It began 252 million years ago, at the close of the Permian Period, and ended 201 million years ago.
JurassicPeriod, from about 200 million to 145 million years ago. During the Jurassic Period, the
supercontinent Pangaea split apart. The Jurassic was a golden age for the large herbivorous
dinosaurs known as the sauropods Camarasaurus, Apatosaurus, Diplodocus,
Michael Crichton s Jurassic Park

Title of book: Jurassic Park Author: Michael Crichton
1.
The point of view in this novel was the third person point of view. I believe the author chose this
point of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to stick with one single storyline of
one person s account of what was happening because that would have made the book very confusing
to follow with in my opinion.
2.
The protagonist in Jurassic Park is Dr. Alan Grant. He s the protagonist because he is the guy I was
rooting for when everything was happening and the guy who seems to play the Hero type role
during the story once things started to go south.

Ellie Sattler: Dr. Alan Grant s partner.
3.
I relate to Dr. Alan Grant the most in the story because he appears to be a very grounded character,
regardless of his position with his intellectual superiority or even if he s being chased by
dinosaurs, he seems to stay humble for the most part and I feel like that s a value that I would like
to have just like this character and is why I can relate to him.
4.
The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what appears to be a
dinosaur/raptor type creature, and it turns out that the creature that did the maulings was a part of
John Hammonds company and business investment, International Genetic Technologies, which is
Hammonds attempt at making a huge profit by having a theme park designed around dinosaurs in
their natural habitats. However things go horribly wrong when a computer analyst Dennis Nedry
makes a deal with a rival genetic engineering company Biosyn to steal his own employers dinosaur
embryos. His master plan starts by shutting off the power to the park to override the security
systems but in the end he only ends up releasing the parks attractions, the dinosaurs. So as you
could probably guess pure mayhem ensues as the characters attempt to escape the park, and the
island it is on. Then the book ends with the park, and island being blown up, but saying that there
has been sightings of reptilian bird like creatures running through the woods in packs deep in the
jungles of costa
Benefit Of Medical Marijuana
The Benefits of Medical Marijuana Medical marijuana is extremely useful, unlike recreational
marijuana which causes issues within today s society. Medical marijuana has many beneficial uses
in the medical field and is often times misunderstood by people today. Medical cannabis, although
misinterpreted sometimes, has many benefits to offer several people who are suffering from
illnesses. Medically, marijuana is truly valuable because of the wide range of diseases it can be
used to treat. Therefore, medical marijuana is beneficial because it can treat a multitude of medical
conditions, the symptoms of the conditions, and the cannabis can give a person a better quality of
life. Medical marijuana can and should be used to treat multiple medical conditions. Medical
marijuana has been used to treat medically diagnosed conditions for quite some time. One source
says, A physician in ancient Greece, Dioscorides, noted that cannabis could treat pain, rheumatism,
and gout (Guterman, 2000, p.1). Therefore, this quote provides example that medical marijuana was
used in the past to treat many medical conditions and was seen as a valid medical treatment
throughout history as it should be today. Also, medical cannabis has been used to treat conditions
such as, Alzheimer s, Cancer, seizures, muscle spasms, and quite a few more serious medical
conditions (Piotrowski, 2016). It seems that these medical conditions can be treated and managed
with the help of medical marijuana. Hence,

Being confronted with a knife is always scary and always dangerous, but if it does happen there are
a few things to remember:
Stay calm by breathing deeply you can also try clenching and unclenching your hands so that you
don t freeze up.
Watch the criminals shoulders or chest, by looking in this area you can use your peripheral vision to
monitor the arms and hands. When the attack starts, the shoulders will move first.
You don t want to stare them in the eyes because they may be an extremely cold, cruel and terrifying
looking person, and this could intimidate you into inaction. If you are staring at their eyes and then
quickly start looking around, your eyes may give away your intention to attempt something.

Knife attacks are not like in the movies and not like what you practice in self defense class. No one
will execute one thrust towards your mid section and then stop and pose for you while you execute
your technique. In a knife fight there are no winners, everyone gets cut or stabbed. What we are
discussing is trying to alleviate the immediate threat so that we can make our
Prejudice in King of the Bingo Game
Ralph Ellison s King of the Bingo Game is the story about an unnamed black man, in the 1930 s,
who is hoping to win the bingo game that is being held at the local cinema, in order win enough
money to pay for his gravely ill wife to see a doctor. The central idea of this story is about race,
and the inability for a person to be the master of his or her own destiny, when they live in an unfair
and prejudicial system.
The main character is completely alienated from the world around him. He is a black man living
in a white world, a man who was born in the South but is now living in the North, and his only
form of companionship is his dying wife, Laura, whom he is desperate to save. He is unable to
work since he has no birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the main character is unable to articulate his situation clearly, the use of limited omniscient
point of view allows the reader to better understand and identify with the protagonist. The main
characters limited vocabulary also reinforces the central idea by suggesting that he did not have
access to a decent education. Had a first person point of view been utilized, the reader would not
have been able to fully appreciate the main character s reality or appreciate why he was so willing
to embarrass himself on stage.
The story mentions a group of girls the protagonist suspects to be lindy hoppers. The Lindy hop
movement became part of the mainstream American music scene, suggesting that despite the
story having been written in 1944, it is more likely to be set in the 1930 s. By setting the story in
a cinema, the author creates an aura of fantasy, since the cinema is a place in which reality is
suspended. At the beginning of the story the main character is aware of his reality as a black man
in white America, affirming his belief that everything was fixed against him. However, once on
stage, and with the bingo wheel controller in hand, reality is suspended and he finds himself
feeling as though, for the first time in his life, he was king of his destiny. His fate is now in his
hands, and he refuses to let go of the button prompting two white men to come a wrestle the button
from his hands. Once again his control over his life is taken away
Human Drug Screening For Memory
As compounds are optimized by our ROP criteria, we will progress lead compounds towards in
vivo efficacy studies, which will be in three well established and well accepted mouse models for
memory storage. These three tests capture various forms of memory (working memory, object
recognition memory and fear memory) in mice and have translational validity for human drug
screening for memory disorders. Based on the published data from our lab and others (Ref) our
working hypothesis is that positive compounds will enhance memory storage. The following
preliminary results support the feasibility of this aim.
C5A.1. Regulation of specific kinesins in mouse hippocampus during contextual fear memory
storage: We have studied whether levels of specific kinesins change during memory formation. We
selected 6 kinesin genes from the hippocampus (HPC) and carried out qRT PCR analysis of RNAs
from HPC (N=4 biological replications) isolated one hour after contextual fear conditioning (CFC)
training, during the initial consolidation of the long term memory. We identified KIf5B to be
significantly upregulated (~1.7 fold, N=4; Students t test, p 0.005) in the HPC following CFC
training (Fig ).
C5A.2. Stereotaxic surgeries and delivery of compounds to specific regions of mouse brain. These
studies are ongoing in the Puthanveettil lab (Figure XX). An example of such study is shown in
Figure XX, where we injected a lentiviral vector to express eGFP in CA1 sub region of the mouse
hippocampus.
