Adding Transitions and Animations in PowerPoint

• Apply transitions between slides

Explain the Difference First:
Transition Animation
Happens when moving between slides Happens to text or objects on a slide
Example: fade, push, wipe Example: fly in, zoom, bounce
Step-by-Step: How to Add Transitions
1. Click on the Slide
• Select the slide you want to add a transition to (e.g., slide 1)
2. Go to the “Transitions” Tab
• Click the Transitions tab at the top
3. Choose a Transition
• Click on a style: Fade, Push, Wipe, Morph, etc.
4. Preview the Transition
• Click Preview to see what it looks like
5. Add to All (Optional)
• Click “Apply to All” if you want the same transition on every slide
Step-by-Step: How to Add Animations to Text or Pictures
1. Click the Object
• Click on the text box or picture you want to animate
2. Go to the “Animations” Tab
• Click the Animations tab
3. Choose an Animation
• Click: Appear, Fly In, Zoom, Bounce, etc.
4. Adjust Timing (Optional)
• In Animation Pane (for advanced use):
o Choose On Click, With Previous, or After Previous
o Set duration or delay if needed
5. Repeat
• Do the same for other text or icons
Practice Activity:
Students go back to their slides and:
• Add a transition to both slides
• Add “Fly In” animation to their title text
• Add “Zoom” animation to their picture

• Don't use too many animations — keep it clean
