John F Kennedy Camelot Analysis
Jacqueline Kennedy s smiling face shines out from the surface of Andy Warhol s Jackie,
embodying Camelot , the dream of a new American renaissance that accompanied John F. Kennedy
s election as the 35th President of the United States. Warhol based this painting on a press
photograph of the First Lady, taken just hours before an assassin s bullet shattered the dream. The
First Lady appears relaxed and glamorous in this intimate portrait with her pillbox hat and fur
collared coat. Marking out this screen s rare quality, we can clearly see the President over her right
shoulder, smiling enthusiastically, blissfully unaware of the impending tragedy. Warhol seized upon
this image, one of many of Jackie that saturated the media for days and days after the president s
death. The media process fascinated Warhol, as did the ensuing frenzy and demand for national and
international grief. He took this image and, with his unrivalled ability to capture the contemporary...

This seminal work remains a masterpiece of Warhol s infatuation with the media and the cult of
celebrity. With Jackie, Warhol adapted the formula he had already tested on Campbell s Soup and
Coca Cola, for use on a celebrity, but in this case one whose image had unprecedented emotional
strength. The president s glamorous widow had the intense sympathies of millions, and the death of
her husband only enshrined her role as a cultural symbol. After John F. Kennedy s death, Jackie
symbolized hope and sympathy for an entire nation, and while Jackie reminds us of his earlier
works, it also creates a complex fusion between emotion and image, between Pop and popularity.
Standing on the brink of his Death and Disaster series, Warhol s portrait of Jackie encapsulates
celebrity s pervasive glare in the midst of personal
Lee Vs Grant
At the end of the Civil War, two great men found themselves in a bind. Robert E. Lee, commander of
the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, had a slew of wounded and malnourished soldiers, and
nothing to feed them. Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union Army, had resources to spare and
extended an offer of surrender in exchange for those rations. Lee accepted, and therefore forfeit the
Civil War to the Union Army. Throughout their four year struggle for victory, the two men
underwent many trials, and ultimately came to a consensus that the carnage had to come to an end.
Although Lee and Grant had drastically different approaches to the way they commanded their
respective armies, both went down in American History as heroes. Robert E. Leewas fanatic about
the caliber of his work and held those around him to extremely high standards, which led to his
eventual downfall, and decision to surrender at Appomattox. Throughout his life, Lee was noted as
being incredibly dedicated to his duties, and oftentimes even put his job over his family. Historians
say that he held himself to a very high standard and expected no less from those who served under...

Lee s legacy is held in some controversy. While those closest to him would remember him as the
reason for thousands of deaths, many politicians revered his efforts and praised him for his
service. According to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, we remember Robert E. Lee as one of our
great American Christians History remembers Lee as one of the greatest war generals of all time.
On the other hand, although Grant did win the war, I do not think his efforts are remembered in
such great magnitude as Lee s. Perhaps this is because he did not have to put up as valiant of a
fight as Lee, whose army had a natural disadvantage. Grant s army simply had more weapons and
more men, which were simple factors, but factors worth everything in this

The Spy Of Spy Ring
Many present day movies make being a spy look like an exciting job title with huge money
rewards at the end of each mission completed. Yet, in the real world being a spy does not come
with any glory, and being a spy was very much looked down upon during the late 1700s. A spy
needs to take risks, and must weigh their options to find which decision will cause the least
amount of casualties. They need to be intelligent, know how to blend in, and how to become a
completely different person. And to protect themselves, a spy must know how to use information
that they have to blackmail someone if they ever get into a compromising situation. The Culper
Spy Ring was a line of intelligence that was created to give General George Washington a reliable
system to spy on the British. Being apart of this Ring was not a cakewalk and required many
years of sacrifice. In the end however, the Culper Spy Ring was able to provide General George
Washington with important information such as ambush warnings, British military movements,
and even lead to the capture of Major John André. Being a spy was a horrific title, yet they really
should have been given more credit. The Culper Spy Ring would not have been in our history if it
weren t for Benjamin Tallmadge. He was born in 1754 in Setauket, New York, and was a studied at
Yale University. While a student there, Tallmadge developed a close personal friendship with Nathan
Hale, who would also eventually become involved in American espionage,

The Hysteria of Japanese Descent
The Korematsu Vs. U.S. Court case was held and decided during World War 2 between the time
after the attack on pearl harbor, the decision that take place at that time were exaggerated and
wrong during this time the american people were lead to believe that people of japanese ancestry
were a threat to the security of the west coast do to wartime hysteria and false accusations of
Espionage. When WW2 begin there was a massive fear of an invasion of the west coast do to the
fact that many civilians and aliens were of Japanese descent. These residents were either second
or third generations who has almost lost all ties to their Japanese ancestry. The mass speculations
were gathered from evidence of espionage however the FBI and other agency jumped to
conclusions with this evidence. From Information Bulletin Number 6 there was evidence of a
small network of spies located in the west coast all of whom were of japanese descent. Their
assumption that there was a mass underground network of japanese spies that were fully cable of
causing sabotages that would disable the west coast defense and leave the whole west coast
vulnerable to a japanese invasion were all assumptions from wartime hysteria and a lack of evidence
to backup their findings.

The attack on Pearl Harbor had been taken account however it s results led to Executive Order 9066
stating that the Commanding Military has the power and authority to exclude any number of people
within a designated area while also
Study World Religion
World religion includes a wide ranging and rather an influential spectrum. Therefore, studying world
religion allows a person to enrich his or her own experience through several aspects of its study. This
week s assignment includes ten reasons that studying world religion remains important. Of the ten
articulated reasons, I chose intellectual questioning as my greatest motivation for the study, and
appreciation for the arts as the least significant factor associated with the study of religion(Molloy,
2010).

Although religious beliefs vary from person to person, the study of different religious beliefs allows
for a greater spiritual knowledge within one s own beliefs, thus providing the greatest motivation for
studying religion. When
