Case Study on Herpes Zoster

History of Present Illness: This is a case of a 27 year old Asian female who came to the clinic
complaining of pain on her right hand. She states that it feels like pins and needles going up to
my arm She denies fever but states that she feels body malaise. She claims to have slight loss of
appetite because of the pain. Pain level is about 7 8/10, occurs continuously and is temporarily
relieved by Tylenol 500 mg. She noted the appearance of tiny blisters on her hand and upper arm
which started about a week ago. The pain according to the patient is described as throbbing and
tingling sensation. Patient otherwise has no other complaints.

Laboratory tests are available to diagnose herpes zoster. The most popular test detects VZV specific
IgM antibody in blood; this appears only during chickenpox or herpes zoster and not while the virus
is dormant. In larger laboratories, lymph collected from a blister is tested by polymerase chain
reaction for VZV DNA, or examined with an electron microscope for virus particles.
Therapeutic treatment Plan: The aims of treatment are to limit the severity and duration of pain,
shorten the duration of a shingles episode, and reduce complications. For pain, this patient will be
prescribed an over the counter analgesic such as Tylenol 500 mg 1 tablet PO every 4 hrs PRN for
pain. Topical lotions containing calamine can be used on the rash or blisters and may be soothing.
Once the lesions have crusted over, capsaicin cream (Zostrix) can be used. Bathe with cool water
and wash the blisters twice a day with regular soap and water but do not bandage them .Apply cool
compresses to the blisters to relieve the pain and itch.
Health Promotion and Education: and Prevention: All patients with herpes zoster should be educated
on the disease process and natural course of the disease. The nursing /medical goal is to prevent
infection and complications of the disease and to reduce the pain of shingles. Patients should be
instructed on medications including dose,
Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
The stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are similar
in multiple ways although they also contrast from each other. All three stories were published in
the 1890 s and all shared a similar theme which was related to the time period. Comparing and
contrasting the stories maintain and vary from each other on components such as the theme,
setting, and main characters which will be scrutinized in the following. The story A Pair of Silk
Stockings consists of the Mrs. Sommers, the main character, receives fifteen dollars and decides
to go spend the money on clothing for her children. Before beginning to shop , Mrs. Sommers
sees some silk stockings and is intrigued by them. She buys the stockings instead of buying the
clothes for her children. Mrs. Sommers then continues to shop for herself as she goes to the shoe
store to a buy a pair of boots, eats at a nice restaurant leaving a tip, and then proceeds to go to a
theater and watch a play. After her expensive expedition, Mrs. Sommers she returns home on an
expensive train.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

From what Mrs. Mallard was feeling in the story, she might have realized that since her husband is
alive she wouldn t have the freedom anymore. Both stories A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story
of an Hour both hint the theme of freedom in the main characters and the time period the story was
written was when women didn t have much freedom when being married to their
Type 3 Infectious Diseases
Type 3 Infectious Diseases: Diseases that may be spread at school or through school activities If the
child is presenting symptoms, suspension of attendance is necessary until a doctor concludes there
is no risk. If the child is showing no symptoms, suspension of attendance is not necessary. As there is
still risk of infection as symptoms subside, suspension of attendance is necessary until a doctor
concludes there is no risk. Other: Infectious diseases where suspension of attendance may be
necessary depending on conditions In most cases, the infection is controlled within 24 hours if being
treated with antibiotics. 24 hours after antibiotic treatment has been given, if the child is in good
condition, they may attend school. In the case
Synthesis Essay On Home Ec
Only thirty nine percent of adults make budgets and track their spending (source 10). This reveals
that most adults do not know the limits to which they spend. Home economics is usually taught at
school and it is the teaching and learning of cooking and other household managements. Students
learn many life skills and hacks that will help them in the future. They will also be thankful for
taking the class. When home economicsis talked about, people may say home ec which is also the
same as home economics. Young adults do not know simple life skills suggesting that schools should
have home economic classes.
Home ec began after the American Revolution and was introduced in the late 1800 s. An important
event that led to the development of home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Richards believed that women should be able to do what they wanted to do. As the
founder of home ec, Ellen Richards believed that it should be taught to women and students. Not
only was she the founder of home ec, but She served as the first president of the American Home
Association and was instrumental in coming up with the term home economics (source 5). Because
she was the founder and president of home ec, she decided to teach what she thought students
needed to learn. Richards had a passion about home ec as She also set up a program in the Boston
public schools to prepare young women for education in the sciences (source 11). Richards set up
programs because she wanted to show people that women had the ability to learn what other men
were learning. Since she stood up for women s rights, many began to look up to her and follow her
teachings. Some would also go to the programs that she set up and learn from what she had to teach
them. From there, Students are empowered to become informed members of their communities,
developing the skills to live independently and with others (source 9). Students learn the skills of
working individually and with others as both are important. Many people look up to Ellen as she
created home ec and stood up for women s rights. However, throughout the years, home ec was
stopped from being taught at schools. Students then did not
Cultural Strain Theory Paper
Introduction The Cultural Strain Theory states that persons of different cultures have a harder time
developing relationships, than persons of the same culture. There are many different theories that
reveal the terms and aspects that are needed to develop a relationship. Reducing one s uncertainty
towards the other, having low levels of anxiety, and being able to relate to the relationship partner are
all vital to developing a relationship. There are three theories that address these three relationship
components. Uncertainty Reduction Theory, Anxiety Management Theory, and the Relational
Theory are the theories that I used to develop the Cultural Strain Theory.
Uncertainty Reduction Theory The Uncertainty Reduction Theory states that relationship
development is a process of reducing uncertainty about one another. When developing relationships,
people desire to reduce the uncertainty about the other person by attaining information about them
(Bradac, 1982). Reducing the amounts of uncertainty is an important component in a relationship.
There are three main reasons why people feel uncertain: anticipation of future interaction, incentive
value, and deviance. Anticipation of future interaction deals with the way one feels about someone
else when they know they will see them in the future. If someone is guaranteed to see a ... Show

This theory describes five good things that fosters relationships and empowers the people involved
in them. It talks about the importance of having a sense of zest or well being, which comes from
connecting with another person, and the ability and motivation to take action in the relationship as
well as in other situations. The five good things also include the increased sense of worth and
knowledge of oneself and the other person, and a desire for more connections beyond the particular

Adolescence Is The Time Of Development Essay
Adolescence is the time of development that starts at pubescence and ends at adulthood; the
regular age extent is from 12 to 18 years, and this phase of development has some anticipated
physical, cognitive, and social turning points (University of Rochester Medical Center
Rochester, 2016). Pubescence includes particular physiological changes in an individual such as
tallness, weight, body organization, sex attributes, and circulatory and respiratory frameworks.
While their bodies are changing, so are their minds. They begin to develop the power of
reasoning and morality. Kids who find themselves in this stage begin to do more complex
thinking; their minds progress from concrete operations such as combining, separating, and
ordering to reasoning and comparing ideas and point of views. It is also at this stage that the
social development of kids begin. Kids around the age of twelve begin to form their identity.
They begin to look for relationships where they can reside and find their sense of self. As Erik
Erikson describes, they begin to experience the psychosocial stages of development; kids begin to
develop trust or mistrust, competence or inferiority, intimacy or isolation. In many cases, the
development of adolescents is found to be the most important stage in life. Adolescence is a stage
in life which comes across every phase of life, starting with biology and ending in society
(Peterson, 1988). It is a period in life where children begin to form their identity and
A Brief Note On Landfill With Electricity Recovery
3.3.2.Landfill with Electricity recovery
Landfilling with electricity recovery used in this study is a typical MSW landfill with surface and
basic sealing, site operations including landfill gas treatment, sludge treatment, leachate treatment
and deposition, and meeting European limits for emissions. The inventory data are taken from the
GaBi database (GaBi, 2015). 28% of the landfill gas is assumed to be used for electricity production
while 22% of it is assumed to be flared and the rest (50%) emitted to the environment. The energy
and manufacturing processes of the sealing materials requirements for the site, are included within
the system.

3.3.3.Incineration
The Incinerator used in this study is an MSW incinerator with Moving grate combined heat and
power incinerator used in Europe and UK in particular. The inventory data used are taken from the
GaBi database (GaBi, 2015). And the control of emissions is done using wet and dry flue gas
treatment by injecting hydrated lime, urea and activated carbon into the flue gases with filter bags
for particulate removal. Ferrous metals (Fe, Cu, Al etc.) are recovered, which 60% of the produced
bottom ash after metal recovery and ageing is reused as construction material (and will leave the
system as bottom ash for reuse). The remaining 40% are disposed on a landfill (GaBi, 2015)). The
credits for the electricity, metal recovery and operation of the underground deposit is included with
gross electrical efficiency assumed to be
Modern Literature And Modernism
It can be argued that the survival and cooperation of human civilisation have relied upon societies
adopting a persistent and coherent understanding of how the world ought to work. For these ideas to
flourish, it was necessary for society to accept these perceptions of the world they lived in as the
undeniable truth. However, during the twentieth century, the majority of these unshakeable truths
were revealed to be problematic, or at the very least, not an absolute given, such as Christianity,
scientific reason (Hanna, 38) and the European superiority that was used to justify colonialism
(Israel in Bradshaw Dettmar 124). This lead to the movement that has been referred to by scholars as
modernism. Thus modernists made the attempt to invent new styles of literature that focused on
characters, subjective personal experience (Hanna 77). This was done to demonstrate the realization
that modern life is not natural, but is historically constructed and continually undergoing
transformations (Walz, 10). However, whilst these new techniques displayed a sense of uncertainty
in the understanding of how the world works there was still a lingering expectation that there had to
be some overarching truth. It just had to be discovered. However, postmodernismcompletely
disintegrated this perception. This essay will examine the concept of grand narratives and how they
have been implemented in the past. Additionally, this will result in demonstrating how and why
postmodern text deconstructs grand narratives. In order to do this, this essay will present two
postmodern texts: the film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino and the novel Sexting The Cherry by
Jeanette Winterson. Thus, showing how these two texts use postmodern techniques to deconstruct
grand narratives. Particularly, how they deconstruct the perception of time.
Before getting into the crux of the chosen postmodern texts, the concept or grand narratives,
otherwise known as metanarratives needs to be addressed. According to scholar Jan Francois
Lyotard, grand narratives can be described as the quintessential form of customary knowledge (19).
This umbrella term of grand narrative is used to describe the ideas and perception society has over a
variety of subject
