Nudity In Greek Art Essay
Nudity in archaic and classical Greek art often is termed as heroic nudity. However, this term is a
flawed explanation for all male nudes. Nudity is prevalent in multiple ancient cultures and is a
costume with various roles and significance determined by context and subject, including nudity of
defeat or vulnerability, democratic nudity, nudity of differentiation, and nudity of status. In this
work, I will discuss those various roles of nudity in Greek art, visiting examples such as seen in
works by archaic and classical artists.
Greeks did not go through everyday life nude, as it was mostly restricted to the private sphere.
Public nudity was kept to the stadium, gymnasium, and palaestra. While men were not walking
around town, riding horses, or going into battle naked, nudity served a particular purpose in their art.
It is common to regard ... Show more content on [Link] ...
It was also used to distinguish males of different ages. Their nudity distinguishes the men in the
lowest area of the Protocorinthian Chigi Vase (ca 650 BCE) from those above them: the youths
that wear tunics and the men that are fully armed in the areas above. This distinction of age can
also be seen on the grave stele of Khairedemos and Lykeas where nudity distinguishes the beardless
youth from the bearded man. This example of nudity does not place Khairedemos on a higher or
more heroic plane than Lykeas; they both died fighting for Athens. Another example exists on the
north and west friezes of the Temple of Athena Nike, where Greeks appear to be fighting other
Greeks with no consistent distinction between clothed and nude foes made more confusing by the
occasion of both combatants being nude. There is not always a consistent trend of between victor
and victim based on nudity as the idea of heroic nudity may

The Last Suffering Ship Reflection
The illness has taken its first life and people are starting to panic. By this point the crew has done
all they can do to get the repairs done pushing them self to exhaustion. The nurses and helpers are
tenting to all the patients and distributing the vaccine as fast as possible and to the right patients. I
believe the way they are only giving half doses out and waiting to see who doesn t show signs of
getting better before giving the full dose is working and an affective way to calm more people
down. I would try and isolate patients from non sick passengers as much as possible to help prevent
spread. For ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Rhonda the nurse is doing a great job taking care of the patients. She might be rude and angry at
times but when you don t get much sleep and are working so hard with patients that are constantly
whining and bugging you trying to get something out of you that you cant give them, yeah your
going to be grumpy. She is doing her job and being very firm with her patients by not letting them
coax her into anything that would disrupt her work. Putting out chores for the passengers to do like
cleaning and even helping wherever they can will help not only keep the ship clean and possibly get
I fixed faster, it will also take their minds off of the issue at hand and possibly even release some
stress they have built up. The passengers need to be doing something other then just sitting around
watching people get sick. Once you can get people to start helping out around the boat you will
have less aggravation and stress build up. So we get back to shore and the media wants to
interview the leading doctor (Me). Handling the media is a big deal and takes very good and clear
talking. You need to present yourself professionally and sympathetic to the passengers. Trying not
to say to much into detail about what happened is key too. You don t want to leak bad things to the
media so they can blow it up making you and the ship liner look bad. The
Dylan Lapham Research Paper
Imagine waking up from a deep sleep and having a bunch of snakes slithering all over you. For
Dylan Lapham that would be his biggest fear. Dylan was born here in Greensburg. His bithday is
August 21, he is now 17 years old. During my time talking to Dylan, I learned some interesting
things about his family, how he feels about school and personality traits and hoobies. The first thing
I learned about Dylan while talking to him was his family. The people that live in Dylan s household
are his mother, father, and his little sister. His little sister s name is Miranda and she is fourteen
years old. He has only one animal. It s a dog and his name is Martin. His family lives in Youngwood.
Out of his whole family he is closest to his father. The
An Voluntary Control Over More Automatic Brain Systems
Pedretti, Pendleton Schultz Krohn (2006) define attention as being this voluntary control over more
automatic brain systems to effectively select and manipulate sensory or stored information briefly or
for sustained periods. One component of attention is this term sustained attention , which is the
ability to consistently engage in an activity over time without loosing concentration (Willard
Spackman, 2014). Willard Spackman express that repetitive and predictable activities place less
demands on sustained attention. Attention process training (APT) is a computerized training
program that provides practice in five types of attention: focused, sustained, selective, alternating
and divided (Park, Proulx Towers, 1999). Several research studies have concluded that specific
components of attention need specific training and that with sufficient training it is possible to
improve aspects of attention and other cognitive functions (Park et al, 1999; Sohlberg,
McLaughlin, Pavese, Heidrich Posner, 2000). Before each task is completed, the requirements are
briefly explained and usually take between 2 3 minutes to complete. A low level evidence ... by
Park et al (1999) concluded that the APT program improved the functioning of specific cognitive
processes underlying attention but not general cognitive functioning. The APT program was
designed to last for 40 hours with an average of 20 sessions. If the participant were to make three or
more errors these tasks were repeated
Reflection On The Movie Patch Adams
Our job is improving the quality of life, not just delaying death . The movie Patch Adams
demonstrates the significance of helping others maintain a healthy lifestyle physically and more
importantly, mentally. Hunter Patch Adams, the main character, is an aspiring doctor who aims to
change the way doctors of his society connect with patients. This philosophy highlights the view
society has begun to form on healthand justice which can be seen through movements such as the
Ottawa Charter and the action areas involved. Due to these factors, the movie is given a three star
rating. In the following paragraphs, the film is further analysed according to the relatability it shows
towards the general view of well being and equality.
A person s values and attitudes are developed through their relationships and experiences. These are
influenced by changes occurring in surrounding environments; changes such as family structure,
employment and the way in which the culture is evolving. The movie is a prime example of how
someone s views can be altered by changing the way they have been programmed . Mr Adams
continually pushed the boundaries to defend and promote what he stood for and this resulted in an
inquiry with the state medical board. Though he proved to be a troublemaker, his positively justified

Hospitals have precautionary regulations but this lacks a degree of kindness. This is observed in
the scene where a mother is unable to see her child, who is in a critical condition, due to the fact that
she has not filled out the necessary forms. Although Patch s actions were of a good intention, the
policies he defied meant the treatment he provided may not have been to an acceptable standard.
The amount of support he received from peers for his comical conceptions was also minimal. An
inequity in treatment was the amount of money necessary as without it patients would not be able to
access immediate
Types Of Magazine Clipping
One category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was famous people. The first clipping
in this category is Barack Obama. This picture is very important because he was our President
and leader of the U.S. for eight years in a row. The next magazine clipping is a U.S soldier. He is
important because he part of a group that fights and protects our country and our freedom.
Another clipping is a picture of Vic Beasley. He s important because he use to play for the
Clemson Tigers a while back and that was the team that won the 2017 College Football Playoff
National Championship game. The last magazine clipping is an Alabama football player. This
picture is meaningful because this team was in the National Championship game against the
Clemson Tigers and they lost by 4 points. Another category of magazine clippings that I chose to
include was objects. The first part of this category is things that resemble more of the american
freedom like a pocket knife, american flag, guns, peace corp badge, and the Democratic donkey
and Republican elephant. These objects are important because they all have to do with american
freedom whether it be protecting the country, having your own beliefs, and just having peace. The
next part of this category is things that people spend money on like a cubs hat, iphone 5s, electronic
cigarettes, and Christmas wrapping paper. These kinds of objects are important because people
spend a lot of money on all these... Show more content on [Link] ...
The first part of this category has pictures of a bowl of mac and cheese, whole grain spaghetti,
turkey, and ice cream. These pictures are important because they are very common american food
that is eaten everyday. The next part of this category features pictures of a box of twinkies, Tootsie
roll, bag of milky ways, and a root beer bottle. These kinds of pictures are important because they
are things that the U.S loves and doesn t want to be distance
Current State Of New Zealand And The United States Of...
Over the last thirty years the economic rise of China has contributed to a worldwide shift in power.
Discussing the current state of New Zealand s relationship with both China and the United States of
America (USA), this essay will outline likely future foreign policy choices. Authors such as Mosher
and Krauthammer see the rise of China as a threat to the West that must be contained, a view which
is not widely accepted. With reference to New Zealand s recent economic and strategic success this
essay will suggest that future foreign policymust work to deepen relations with both countries. New
Zealand must not choose between China nor the USA, instead a broad based approach to trade and
international relationsshould be maintained.
In 2008 New Zealand was the first of the Organisation for Economic Co operation and
Development countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China. As a result China has
overtaken the USA as our second largest trading partner, with exports increasing from NZ$2.3
billion in 2008 to NZ$6.7 billion in 2012. In 2010 New Zealand set the goal of doubling two way
trade with China by 2015, a goal which was achieved a full year earlier. Speaking to the New
Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) in 2010 John Key described New Zealand China
relations as unquestionably and unashamedly an economic relationship . Without pausing the New
Zealand and Chinese governments have been quick to capitalize on this recent economic success. The
Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men
The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern society.
Reading Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the messages applying to modern
day times. Especially in a high school setting. It was obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time
when he nailed society on the head about its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in
The Hollow Menare: the self identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism.
In which line does The HollowMen show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines
31 and 32 he gives a dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such deliberate
disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now, the descriptive word that Eliot used is deliberate. That means people
purposely hid their true selves from the outside world. In Worland High, countless students wear
these deliberate disguises in fear of the awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not
only students who are cautious.... Show more content on [Link] ...
Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As in nothing
meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children are raised up in a religion,
and think nothing of them. There are followers and then there are religious followers. Religious
followers really believe and have faith in their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could
care less about their religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers
and continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and Agnostic
Atheists are very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in science proving many
religious events to not be possible. Then again, is this necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone
is entitled to their one beliefs, just because someone doesn t believe in God, does not mean they do
not have
