Devices and technologies like Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs) camera, Closed Circuit Television
(CCTV), thermal camera, High Definition (HD) camera and night vision are widely used in video
surveillance to gather information and to observe people, events and activities [10]. At present there
is an increased desire and need in automated video surveillance application intended for evaluating
human behaviors.

Human detection in video is complicated due several factors such as variable appearance of people,
camera positions, and wide range of person poses, illumination variation, brightness, backgrounds,
contrast level and human occlusions [ ]. Different people perform the same action differently and the
same person performs the same action differently at different times. Due to huge diversity of human
body size, appearance, shape and human actions to perform automatically recognize actions are very
challenging [12]. Steps for processing a video are video segmentation, motion detection, background
modeling, foreground segmentation, object classification, motion tracking, activity recognition, and
camera handoff and data fusion [].

The main objective of this paper is to provide a review of human behavior analysis in video
surveillance. The review is not exhaustive, but gives an overview of the major steps involved in
human behavior analysis and some of the techniques which are used in these steps. The rest of this
C.S. Lewis on Misunderstanding Fantasy Essay
C.S. Lewis on Misunderstanding Fantasy

Good stories often introduce the marvelous or supernatural and nothing about Story has been so
often misunderstood as this.

On Stories C.S. Lewis

The early decades of the last century saw the loss of credibility of fantasy literature among the
academic elite who ruled it a popular genre with little to no scholarly merit. Little that had had the
misfortune of being dubbed fantasy had escaped the blacklist cast upon the field. Many critics had
also labeled the fantasy genre as largely cliché, full of shallow characters, and as having no value
beyond being purely escapist entertainment. These generic labels, applied wholesale to fantastic
literature, had pushed it off the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accomplished science fiction and Fantasy author C.S. Lewis saw the defamation of the Fantasy
genre beginning during the early decades of the Twentieth century. Lewis was well aware of the
strengths of the genre; from his youth he had been enchanted by fantastical stories of paranormal
phenomena that included Norse mythology. Upon reaching adulthood and becoming a noted
member of the English faculty at Oxford College, Lewis published a science fiction trilogy
dealing with the clash between science and religion and between good and evil. He followed the
well received series with the Chronicles of Narnia, seven Fantasy novels written for children bearing
large motifs of Christian mythology. And along the way, he managed to defend Fantasy, science
fiction, and myth from its critics in a series of explicative essays dealing with literary theory.

Similarly, Lewis colleague at Oxford, J.R.R. Tolkien also defended Fantasy, or as he called it,
fairy stories. Tolkien was known for his fantastic works that included The Hobbit, The Lord of the
Rings trilogy, and an assortment of companion books to the series. He was also well known for his
criticism of Beowulf, The Monsters and the Critics. His Fantasy series have had broad implications
on the fantasy genre as a whole since publication, influencing the current generation of writers with
the firm grasp of history
Clear Lake Research Paper
Last Saturday, local anglers Bob Killgore, of Peaceful Pines, and Tim Smith, of Sonora, got into a
somewhat remote lake in the Coffin Hollow area of Tuolumne County. The lake, named Clear
Lake, was reached partly by ATV and partly on foot. They found the rainbows, up to 14 inches
willing to bite on Power Eggs and they came out with one short of two limits. A good day of fishing
and some great trout dinners coming up.

At New Melones, as the water level continues to drop, more anglers are trying bank fishing,
especially for catfish which usually are close to shore this time of year. Boaters are still getting out
off Glory Hole Point with 4 wheel drive. The trout and kokanee bite has really slowed as they have
gone deep to cooler water. Trollers
A Brief Biography of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Essay
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was truly a woman ahead of her time, and understood that the role
of women in Post World War II life was shifting before it even began to change. Onassis balanced
the role of the traditional woman as a wife and mother while becoming one of the most influential
First Ladies the country had seen yet through her style, intelligence, and grace. However, it was
her astuteness that made her so captivating; Onassis knew what had to be done politically,
historically, and socially to promote her and her husbands legacy for decades to come. Her ability
and drive to always be one step ahead of the game was what led her to such recognition, and
remains to be her legacy up to this day.

Even from her experiences as a child, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this was quite the title, Onassis had greater dreams than being known her for beauty,
for in that article she was quoted saying that her life ambition was not to be a housewife. 4 After
graduating from Miss Porter s School, a prestigious boarding school in Connecticut, Onassis
attended Vassar University. In her junior year, she studied in Paris and said, I loved it more than
any year of my life. Being away from home gave me a chance to look at myself with a jaundiced
eye. I learned not to be ashamed of a real hunger for knowledge, something that I had always tried
to hide, and I came home glad to start in here again but with a love for Europe that I am afraid will
never leave me. 5 It is evident that Jacqueline Bouvier had the independence and lust for new
experiences and knowledge before even meeting her soon to be husband, John F. Kennedy. Onassis
showed throughout her growth into adulthood that she would take these values into her future career.

On September 12, 1953, just a year after meeting him at a dinner party, Jacqueline Bouvier married
John F. Kennedy, a congressman from Massachusetts. This was the beginning of her journey to
first lady hood. They were married on September 12, 1953, at St. Mary s Church in Rhode Island.
The wedding was called the social event of the season, and about 700
Comparison Of Banquo And Fleance
The sun began to set on the hills and darkness crept across the land. It was not just the darkness of
night coming, it was also from black clouds that were invading the sky. A strong wind started
blowing and lighting started to flash across the sky. In that very moment , Fleance and Banquo felt
threatened. The stormwas a warning about danger to their lives. Banquo and Fleance decided to
return back to the castle which was like a dark mountain in the distance. They rode quickly but
because of the strong windand the amount of lightning going around Banquo and Fleance, the horses
got tired very easily.
Fleance looked very pale. He was young, only about fifteen and was not used to the sounds of
battle raging in the sky. But Banquo on the other hand was a soldier who had seen many wars.
The explosions of thunder and flashes of lightening did not scare him. He looked at Fleance with a
comforting solid bright stare. The flaming sphere had completely disappeared from Banquo and
Fleance s sight when suddenly three men riding a horse as fast as the wind came rushing towards
them. When the three men got closer they stopped. Fleance and Banquo was relieved because they
looked like normal civilians who had come to help them get back to the castle.

It was as if the trees were making way for him. Flank, his horse, was confident after seeing lots of
obstacles since he had been trained well back in the castle for war. This made a huge advantage
for Fleance to escape. But the murders had good horses too. They soon caught up with Fleance.
Fleance looked back and could see their knives glinting hungrily behind him. One of the murderers
prepared to stab Fleance with his knife. But Fleance was saved by a hand from heaven. Lightening
hit a tree near the murderers and they fell from their horses. Fleance was safe and road away into the

The Connection between A Bug s Life and The Chosen People

In the essay The Chosen People, Stewart Ewen, discusses his perspective of middle class America.
Specifically, he explores the idea that the middle class is suffering from an identity crisis. According
to Ewen s theory, the notion of personal distinction [in America] is leading to an identity crisis of the
non upper class. (185) The source of this identity crisis is mass consumerism. As a result of the
Industrial Revolution and mass production, products became cheaper and therefore more available
to the non elite classes. Mass production was investing individuals with tools of identity, marks of
personhood. (Ewen 187) Through advertising, junk mail and style ... Show more content on

Also, the queen of the ant colony explains the colony s identity in terms of class position instead
of individuality in her statement: It is the same every year. They [the grasshoppers] come, they
eat, they leave. It s our lot in life it is not a lot, but it s our life. This coincides with Ewen s idea
that Class identity was not a matter of individual choice, but of the position one inhabits in relation
to the forces of production. This conception of class encouraged people to look at groups of people
not in terms of individual claims they made for themselves, but in terms of where they stood within
the objective relations of power. (188)

The ants define themselves in terms of providing for the grasshoppers instead of by their individual
talents and aspirations. Another connection between the two texts is the abuse of power to achieve
personal goals. Hopper, the antagonist in A Bug s Life, bullies the ant colony into thinking that they
need protection from all the other bugs higher up on the food chain. In exchange for the protection,
the ants collect food for the grasshoppers. This is similar to how In its symbolic identification with

Another factor that influence micelle formation is , the salt concentration and pH. The membrane
phospholipids are disrupted by mild nonionic detergents to isolate them but the isolated lipids should
be functional to react with the enzyme phospholipases. If pH and salt concentration is not maintained
at biological range, the micelles formed could be nonfunctional or denatured. This will make the
phospholipases reactivity with lipids impossible.
TLC is used this experiment is discontinuous method to analyze phospholipase reaction.
Spectrophotometry can be used to monitor enzymatic reaction activity continuously without

phospholipase reactions because the products of the reaction does not have light absorption qualities
such as aromatic or conjugated pi system. However, products have polarity properties, which can be
exploited to measure the reaction using TLC.
This experiment has successfully demonstrated the isolation efficiently by TLC plate analysis. In

The ten decisions are: economic level, educational level, trustworthiness, social position, level of
sophistication, economic background, social background, educational background, level of success,
and moral character (Hickson, 1989). Clothing can also communicate behavior, status, and
characteristics of people.
Behavior, Status, Characteristics Studies have been done to see how clothing can affect people s
behavior, social status, and characteristics. One test conducted by Thomas Hoult showed
characteristics with a photo lineup of several college aged men. In the first test, photos were
ranked with no indication to clothing. After the photos were ranked once they were divided in to
groups and ranked again this time with a focus on clothing. Once all ranked the men s heads in the
photos were cut out and the heads that were ranked low were pasted on to the clothing that was
ranked high. Then these photos were ranked like before. The results were the heads that had low
scores and were pasted on to clothes that were ranked high got higher rankings than from their
original clothing (Hickson, 1989).
The Success in Clothing Ever thought clothing could give someone success in a job? Ever thought
how clothing can also give someone the impression one is successful? Let s take a look at the
clothes of a businessman. To show that one has authority, credibility, and likability one should wear
a suit (Hickson, 1989). Dark colors communicate authority, but avoid black,

Comparing Paranoia In Fast And Furious And The Walking Dead
Fear and Paranoia are caused by the common feeling that had been part of every living thing s
lifestyle. The more an individual hold back there feeing, the more they get paranoid. Fear and
paranoia both are the result of same feeling that interprets as frightening. The main difference
between paranoia and fearis that paranoiais a higher level of anxiety which can lead to life
threatening situation. What is fear? Fear is an unpleasant emotion that occurs in response to an
immediate and identifiable threat, usually of an external nature. It includes physiological
elements such as increased heart rate and muscular tension, behaviors such as running or hiding,
and hormonal changes such as the release of epinephrine (Gramlich). In other words, fear is not
something that can be built instantly it is usually a bad past experience in most cases it s from
childhood. According to Lars Svendsen author of A Philosophy of fear, states fear is like drugs,
the chemical reaction in your brain creates inquisitiveness which in important to survive because
it keeps your brain functioning well. That is the reason why Svendsen think Action and Horror
genres are most popular in the entertaining world because this genres story is based on taking risk
and risk without fear is like desert without sand. Transformer, Fast and Furious and The Walking
Dead are some of the examples of the most grossing movies and shows in entertaining world.
According the list published by Forbes 8 out top 10 most grossing movies in the world falls under
Action and Horror genre. Going back to Svendsen, he states Reading takes by Edger Allan Poe
and H.P. Lovecraft was a great strain on my nerves as a child I thought it was so sinister that I
hardly dared read another page, yet I could not stop myself from reading on even so (74). Is one
of the many personal experience that he mentioned in his book. So, no matter how hard individual
tries to avoid fear while entertaining themselves, he/she will always end up falling in love with
Horror or Action, movie or show. There is no treatment for fear because at the end of the day being
afraid means healthy brain. Similarly, what is paranoia? Pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of
others and a tendency to
Mozart Vs Saliy
Wolfgang Mozart and Antonio Salieri are arguably two sides of the same coin and certainly foils.
While Mozart embraces humanity and its flaws, Salieri shuns it, believing God s grace and
musical talent is all he needs. Amadeus is tired of gods and heroes, common to Italian operas, and
doesn t want a conventional job, believing all serious operas written in [the 18th] century are boring
(Shaffer 2001, 69). Instead, he would rather compose operas about life and love and in harems, and
insults Italians and their art multiple times. Additionally, the personalities of Salieri and Mozart
vastly contrast. Mozart is generally unlikeable loud, immature, intolerable, and self centered while
Salieri appears to be quite the opposite likeable, composed,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Integrating themes of jealousy, fate, bargaining with God, mediocrity, and genius, Peter Shaffer
depicted fictional accounts of Mozart and Salieri in an extraordinary tale, humanizing Mozart s god
like image. Furthermore, he calls attention to the role ordinary citizens and society plays in carrying
on this image throughout time, as true recognition of Amadeus s talent came only after his tragic
death, despite its criticism of him in life. While the play is certainly not fictional, its value lies in its
uncovering of the complexities behind genius and Mozart, allowing the audience to peak into his life
and understand him for the man he

Freezing Point Depression
Introduction:
The purpose of this lab experiment is to calculate the change in the freezing point of cyclohexanol
and a solution made with cyclohexanol to find the molar mass of the unknown solute. The colligative
properties of solutions are based on the concentration of molecules rather than the identity of the
chemical. Freezing point, a colligative property of a solution, is constant in any substance and does
not rely on the amount given. For any solution composted of two or more components, there is one
solvent and one or more solutes. The major amount is the solvent and the minor amounts are the
solutes. When solutes are dissolved in solvents, the solution s freezing point is ... Show more content

This can be accounted for in the sample of cyclohexanol. The experiment must have had a
contaminated sample of cyclohexanol, rather than a pure sample. This accounts for the difference in
the experimental values and the actual values.
Conclusion:
By demonstrating the application of a colligative property of a solution, the change in freezing point
observed between the cyclohexanol and the solution with the cyclohexanol as the solvent can be
used to calculate the unknown solute s molar mass. The data in the lab was graphed and shown in
the cooling curve. Bases off the data on the graph, the freezing points are shown where the
temperature remains constant. Using the freezing points, the difference of freezing point was
calculated. The molality of solution was calculated in the lab using the molar mass of the unknown
solution from the given previous data. The data in the lab showed the molar mass of the unknown
solute to be off from the given molar mass in the lab. This can be explained through contamination.
Theoretically, it was learned that by calculating the freezing point of an unknown substance, it can be
identified. The lab showed important techniques in using a graph
Balances of Incentives Essay
In the book Freakonomics, Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner discuss how child moral behaviors
are connected to how effective a parent can be when it comes to enforcing rules and rewarding
good actions. This form of tactic, known as incentives, is a way to accomplish things to get what
is needed or desired. The concept to incentives is that a child should be able to learn from his or
her mistake and gain an understanding of right and wrong. Not only do incentives pertain to a child
s behavioral development but also his or her success as an individual. A child s response to negative
and positive incentives is the most important predictor for success according to Levitt and Dubner.
Negative incentives can encourage a child to do right.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Telling a child that stealing is a bad thing to do and if caught they could go to juvenile prison; that
along can frighten a child to do right. For a child to learn from incentive do not necessarily have
to be negative. Receiving dedicated rewards for rightful doing is another form of incentive.
Children carry on the characteristics of responsibility for the accommodations of what is wanted.
If a child is indeed, inform that once he or she surpasses the exit exam, then he is able to attend an
ice cream party as an honor. With this goal in mind, it will give the child the enthusiasm to study
and understand the materials need for the exam. Many programs around the nation are using
positive incentives as a way to develop children success. A programs known as, the Accelerated
Reader Program, is a programs held in Columbia SC school districts from elementary to high school.
Books are to be read among students following with a comprehensive test. Each test is worth
numerous amounts of points and for a certain range of points students are rewarded with numerous
prizes. Some teacher also used this as part of their curriculum for extra credits for students
participation of the program. Students who normally participates are being recognize for their good
actions which shows an enormous impact on the others who do not attempt to try. Seeing how
enjoyable the incentive can be, the student is then eager to gain that benefit. Another form of
Attending College Is A Major Accomplishment For Many...
Attending college is a major accomplishment for many students. Students come from various
backgrounds which include first generation attendees and minorities. Unfortunately, many students
who begin fail to matriculate to their second year at a higher learning institute. Student retention is a
long standing issue with no clear cut solution. Many researchers have conducted studies to try and
understand the lack of attendance after the student s first year. Retention and Academic
Restructuring Vincent Tinto (1999) has found that many colleges speak on the importance of
increasing student retention and invest in programs or resources to assist with better outcomes.

Third, students are more likely to continue at an institution that value them as members. Constant
contact with students, faculty, and staff also encourages academic persistence. Finally, learning is
the most important factor that contributes to student retention with students who stay being the
students that learn (Tinto, 1999). Active involvement in the student experience seems to be key to
student retention. Undergraduates that stay on task and are active in learning activities are more
likely to return (Tinto, 1999). Sadly, majority of first year students experience their first year of
education as an isolated experience with students taking courses as detached units (Tinto, 1999).
Although study programs are designed specifically for each major, social and academic unity is
lacking (Tinto, 1999). The first year of college should be restructured with various factors in mind.
To begin, students should learn in a joint surrounding and should be the norm (Tinto, 1999).
Disconnect can occur when students matriculate alone . Secondly, academic advising should be a
crucial part of a student s first year. It should reflect the best professional expertise (Tinto, 1999).
Third, important concepts within the freshman seminar should be integrated the first year and
should connect learning practices that occur frequently (Tinto, 1999). Fourth, the first year of
college should be accepted as a
