The Mayan Civilization And The Maya Empire
The Mayan civilization or the Maya Empire, centered in the tropical lowlands of what is now
Guatemala, reached the peak of its power and influence around the sixth century A.D. The Maya
excelled at agriculture, pottery, hieroglyph writing, calendar making and mathematics, and left
behind an astonishing amount of impressive architecture and symbolic artwork. Most of the great
stone cities of the Maya were abandoned by A.D. 900. The Maya civilizationwas one of the most
dominant indigenous societies of Mesoamerica. Unlike other scattered indigenous populations of
Mesoamerica, the Maya were centered in one geographical block covering all of the Yucatan
Peninsula and modern day Guatemala; Belize and parts of the Mexican states of Tabasco and
Chiapas; and the western part of Honduras and El Salvador. This concentration showed that the
Maya remained relatively secure from invasion by other Mesoamerican peoples.
Within that expanse, the Maya lived in three separate sub areas with distinct environmental and
cultural differences: the northern Maya lowlands on the Yucatan Peninsula; the southern lowlands in
the Peten district of northern Guatemala and adjacent portions of Mexico, Belize and western
Honduras; and the southern Maya highlands, in the mountainous region of southern Guatemala. The
earliest Maya settlements date to around 1800 B.C., or the beginning of what is called the Preclassic
or Formative Period. The Middle Preclassic Period also saw the rise of the first major
Gender, Gender And Gender Roles
Men collectively choose to receive psychological help less than their women counterparts. The sex
distinction in help seeking behavior occurs even when both women and men are equally afflicted.
If male help seeking behavior is to be increased, the reason for its neglect must be considered.
Increasing our awareness of factors that may deter men from exploring psychological guidance may
help in accessing reluctant men, allowing them to see past their preconceived ideology of masculinity
.

First it is important to recognize the pressures male face. In most cultures, men have very few
options related to gender conduct. Male gender roles are instilled early on in childhood. As men meet
these unwritten expectations they acquire acceptance from other men, attain potential mates,
increase self esteem and increase social status. This in part is called the socialization process. These
benefits reinforce men to continue with this as their standard. What are these unwritten rules that are
nurtured and taught so crucially by family and friends? Traditional gender roles are what determine a
man to be capable and successful. They can loosely be categorized into three areas that exemplify the
perfect model of masculinity: Strength, involves emotional toughness, courage, self reliance and
rationality. Action, encompasses competitiveness, ambition, and risk taking. The last area can be
summed up as being honorable, with
A Study On The Stock Market
The time available to conduct the study was only 7 weeks. It being a wide topic had a limited time.

Share market is so much volatile and it is difficult to forecast anything about it whether you trade
through online or offline.

Limited resources are available to collect the information about the derivative trading.

Some of the aspects may not be covered in my study. The study shows that most of the investors our

It helps investors to earn high return in our investment in comparison to other instrument of

Investors should start investing in derivative market which helps to earn high return as well as for

The Problem Of The Unhappy Valley
Unhappy Valley Everyday humans are faced with dilemmas where they must decide on what
considered right, and what is considered wrong. Whether they are fifty or five, all humans face
situations like that. There are times when humans make the wrong decision thinking it s right, or
make the right decision, but it s wrong. When it comes to making decisions, older generations are
held to a higher standard than younger generations. That is because they are expected to be
responsible and have had to experience difficult life situations, younger generations are known and
expected to make the wrong decisions constantly. But in some cases, adults will make that wrong...

The film spotlights the wrong decisions, and the justifications that come with them. Bar Lev targets
the emotional and logical appeals of his audience while teaching them indirectly on what happened.
The rhetoric that is used in Happy Valley appeals the audience s emotional and logical appeals.
Throughout the film, Bar Lev introduces important key factors, like Sandusky s adopted son and
victim, Matt, Joe Paterno s wife, two of his son s, students of Penn State University in 2011, as well
as researchers and historians involved with Penn State. Bar Lev has them open up about their
thoughts and feelings on the scandal to focus on how it affected them. Ideally he is affecting the
audience s emotions, allowing them to feel as if they are a part of the story too. Likewise, he
focuses on the events leading up to the scandal, the scandal, and the aftermath of the scandal. Bar
Lev likes to produce stories on the difficult and uncomfortable topics that are hard to talk about. He
states in a recent interview, I look for the stories that tweek society s nerves (Bar Lev). Happy
Valley, being one of Bar Lev s numerous documentaries, does not create an obvious opinion that he
holds, instead leaving it up to the audience and their opinions. They are constantly changing their
opinions especially on the late Penn State head football coach, Joe Paterno. Paterno knew about

Participate in Webinar Conference Develop a vision focused list of questions in the form of an
organizer that all members can use while designing and implementing a school program. Questions
can include; Describe how this program complements the school vision? Identify activities that can
be implemented into the program that bring awareness to the school vision? With the PLC plan
defined and outlined, strategies should be implemented to avoid pitfalls among team members. The
two dysfunctions that the team is likely to be susceptible to is fear of conflict and lack of
commitment . While the team members get along great with each other, members hesitate to express
their view of a proposed idea for lack of causing conflict. Strategies used to avoid this dysfunction
include; addressing the concern early while establishing meeting norms, and acknowledging that
conflict is productive (Lencioni, 2002 p. 203). A team member will also be assigned to act as a
miner of conflict. The second dysfunction, lack of commitment manifests itself when members fail
to completely buy in to a plan. Strategies to avoid this dysfunction include; discussing contingency
plans in the event that a plan is not successful, and implementing deadlines to ensure commitment.
Members will maintain commitment to a strategy by having deadlines given. In summary, this paper
addressed the steps needed to accomplish a PLC plan. Implementing the steps listed throughout the
paper ensure that the PLC plan is effective and easy to administer for all team members
Drug Addiction In Nevada
Drug addiction is growing by the day and has affected the lives of countless people who once led
a normal, healthy life. Almost 24% men while 16% percent of women in America have admitted
to abusing at least one type of drug if not all and the number of teenagers abusing drugs is on the
rise. The drug situation in Nevada is grim and the imported and locally produced meth leads the
list of drugs that concern Nevada. In the urban parts of the state, cocaine especially crack cocaine
is being abused on a large scale while clubs drugs have become a regular feature of number of
nightclubs out there. Its close proximity to California makes it an important transshipment point for
smuggling drugs, which is why drugs are available in abundance in Nevada.

Almost all addicts love to believe that they can easily control their addiction however this is not true,
as they suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms when they give up or reduce the frequency of drug
use. Addiction causes substantial changes in the brain that remain for a long time even when a
person stops abusing drugs. As a result, addicts need much more than will power to overcome their
addiction. For complete recovery, addicts not only need to fight the cravings, but also learn to resist
all those stimulants from the past that can take them back to where they started. Nevada has number

Sacrifice In The Film Chocolat
It takes a lot of courage and sacrifice for someone to maintain their integrity while trying to belong
in a group of people. They are also tempted to give up some part of themselves that they think people
do not like about them. In the film Chocolat Vianne Rocher demonstrates this point throughout the
entire movie. Vianne appears strong and independent on the outside, but inside, wants to belong
somewhere, and is tempted to change herself to fit in with the rest of the villagers. She has a lot of
courage and strength to stay as herself and not change just to find belonging with other people.

Mesothelioma Research Paper
What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a unusual form of cancer that occurs in the mesothelium (a thin layer of tissue that
covers most of our internal organs.) In most cases, the tissue near the lungs is affected. However,
cases have been reported in which other body organs are affected with this condition. This form of
cancer is extremely aggressive and often proves deadly if it is malignant Mesothelioma.
Know the Risk Factors
Although quite a few materials can possibly cause this disease, mesothelioma is mainly attributed to
exposure to asbestos as reported by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry of the
CDC. In addition, Asbestos has been classified by the EPA as a human carcinogen.
According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), exposure to asbestos increases
the risk of developing malignant Mesothelioma. The latency period for the disease is ... Show more

This exposure affects individuals in different ways. Few factors are involved, including frequency,
concentration and duration of exposure as well as the size, shape and chemical makeup of the fibers
that determine your chances of contracting Mesothelioma.
It is normal to feel concerned about Mesothelioma if you have experienced chronic exposure to
asbestos. Doctors advise that such people should get regular chest x rays or CT scans. They should
also get lung function tests as these tests can spot problems caused by asbestos fibers. If any
problems are detected, you must obtain a professional Mesothelioma diagnosis. In the event of being
diagnosed with Mesothelioma, you have the rights for filing a lawsuit. A Mesothelioma lawsuit can
help you claim imbursement for the additional costs borne in dealing with this disease as well as for
the resulting emotional distress and
A Room of One s Own Perception
In his novel The Hours, author Michael Cunningham describes his characters in a very unique way.
Cunningham portrays his characters through the descriptions of rooms in which each person spends
most of their day. The rooms become a window to each character s personality and personal
situation. Through reflection of her own room, Clarissa Vaughn comes to realize that she is
completely unhappy with the way her life has turned out. Similarly, Cunningham uses Laura Brown
s time in her kitchen and her two hour stay in a hotelroom to assess her mental standing. These
spaces are not only observed by their inhabitants, but also by those close to them. Clarissa s room
is observed by her old friend Louis and the reader is given much of Richard s room descriptions
through the assessment of Clarissa. These observations by others help the reader gain a sense of not
only how the certain character considers their own self, but also how they are perceived by others.
Each individual life intersects with another character, which link together characters that seemingly
would otherwise not be connected. These observations regarding each room come to not only
embody the mental state of each character, but also represent a form of imprisonment for each.
Richard is depicted through his apartment room as sullen and wasting away from his disease and
depression. Special emphasis is given in particular to the decrepit, ostentatiously broken and
worthless chair (59). The chair comes to symbolize
Work Related Experience
Part A Work Related Experience
Work experience was conducted in a setting with wildlife and conservation. Lasting from the 30th
January to February 10th, where 65 hours was completed. Cornwall Nature Conservancy, a private
nature reserve dedicated to the conservation of endangered animals. Not open to the public, it
dedicates itself to educating people to be aware of why conservation is needed and gain trustees.
Duties/Roles
After shadowing keepers for the first two days, independent tasks were assigned and undertaken
with enthusiasm. Preparing food buckets for certain animals was given, these included Agoutis and
Coatimundis who had a diet of largely fruit with vegetables and for the Coatis, chicks three or four
times a week. Pigs had scraps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All contributing to the large amount of babies the reserve produces, including Mongoose, Agouti,
Jaguarundi, Puma, Serval and Lynx. While at the conservancy there was the possibility of a baby
Lynx as the larger female changed her behaviour dramatically and the behaviour of the other Lynx
in the enclosure also changed to correspond with this. The male became highly protective and was
very vocal and defensive. Although no baby appeared, it was interesting to discuss that with
animals it can be hard to determine when a birth will occur. When the Serval baby arrived, the
female did not show until the day before birthing. It was also noted that when the female pig was
pregnant, she began to show almost three weeks before she gave birth to the piglets. It was also
learnt BIAZA does not count a birth until the animal passes its first month.
Evaluation of the Organisation
The organisation started over 33 years ago, by Antony Blackler. When asked about his memories
of animals in early childhood, he recalled three memories. The first, when he was 18 months old
looking after a toad in the cellar of his childhood home. The second at 21 months old when he saw
some hounds and when he was 3 and a half years old seeing a fox on the day of his sister s birth

ignorance and want
Set up against the rampant industrialization of the 18th century, Charles Dickens classic novella A
Christmas Carol endorses the notion that all people have a responsibility to ensure the safety and
welfare of every member of society. By taking his seemingly irredeemable protagonist Ebenezer
Scrooge on an other worldly journey. Dickens intends to convey to the complacent classes of the
age, the necessity of various traits that are essential in life, such as the responsibility for those whom
are less fortunate and other vital traits such as charity, generosity and simply caring for others.
Dickens warns the reader of the consequences that will follow if these lessons are not taken into
consideration.

Hybrid Model Of Frfs And Rnn
4. THE PROPOSED HYBRID MODEL OF FRFS AND RNN Hybrid intelligent systems are vital
research areas for solving complex and multi phase problems. Medical diagnostic field is
characterized by several sequential and related processes. Knowledge representation of diseases is
the essential goal of any medical system. The main sub procedures are data selection, data
preprocessing, data transformation, pattern/rule induction and knowledge interpretation. Figure 4
introduces the main steps of knowledge representation system. Figure 4: Knowledge Extraction
Framework The proposed model is a fuzzy rough hybrid system for diagnosing breast cancer
patients. The diagnoses system is composed of preprocessing and classification phases. The hybrid is
consisted of three main sub modules. The first sub module is responsible for the selection process. It
preprocesses the data sets by eliminating the irrelative attributes. The framework utilizes a fuzzy
rough algorithm to handle the uncertainty nature of the medical data. The second sub module
produces an intelligent classifier of the diseases. It uses the rough neural network intelligence to
learn from the uncertain reduced data set. After training, the rough neural network becomes the
intelligent classifier of the unseen cases to predict their medical condition of the illness. The third
sub module measures the accuracy and time complexities of the intelligent classifier by the test data
set. Figure 5 shows the main sub modules and their
