Character Analysis Of Moby Dick
Many have the desire to control the uncontrollable, or change the unchangeable. This idea is
shared through many novels and movies; one of those being Herman Melville s Moby Dick a
narrated voyage of a whaling ship, the Pequod, and its captain, Ahab, whose one desire was to kill
the great Sperm Whale, Moby Dick. As his whaling journey continued, still unsuccessful, Ahab s
character began to change. Many adjectives could be used to describe Ahab s changing character,
but three specific ones are as follows: obsessive, conceited, and manipulative. Ahab s one desire
changes him from an obedient captain to a madman. While Ahab was still the obedient captain he
once was, he was one of the most successful and higher rewarding captains. Unexpectedly, in the
midst of a whaling, Ahab and his crew encountered the whale he now refers to as Moby Dick or
the white whale. The crew initiated in capturing the whale, but this whale was different. Rather than
capturing the whale, the whale captured Ahab and though Ahab escaped, he did not escape
entirely. Moby Dick had dismembered and consumed half of one of Ahab s legs. Ever since this
incident, Ahab s one and only desire or, as stated in the text, ...his one unsleeping, ever pacing
thought has been to kill Moby Dick; which soon turns him obsessive (Melville). Ahab would not let
anyone or anything stop him from achieving his goal, ... I ll chase him round Good Hope, and round
the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round
Basques Social Structure
The Basques are people who inhabit a region spanning over parts of north central Spain and
southwestern France. Some people are still confused as to where they have originated from.
Basques are now mainly found in an area traditionally known as Euskal Herria, which is located
around the western end of the Pyrenees on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. The Basques language is
also called the Euskera. The Basque languageis an extremely complex language which has no close
relatives anywhere else in the world. I will be discussing the Basques infrastructure, social structure,
and superstructure how they maintained it all. The Basques infrastructure is not an industrial hub,
but they do maintain a unique regional identity. They can use an update with their infrastructure.
Houses in the city Bilbao houses many heavy industries, such as steel plants and shipbuildings
facilities. They do not have enough railroads tracks to transport merchandise to gain more money.
Social structure in Basques is somewhat similar to America s social structure. They is equality
between sexes in the division of labor. Woman are welcome to work alongside men in the
workplace. In the urban areas women are mainly ... Show more content on [Link] ...
They now have churches, schools, taverns, town halls, handball court, general stores, and a few
professionals such as doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists, and postmaster. The surrounding hillsides
contain farmsteads surrounded by their collective landholdings. In the late 1950s the youths of
Basques established ETA. Their goal was to have complete independence from from Spain. 20
percent of the population of Basques is involved with agriculture and 50 percent is employed in
industry. Now Basques is a mixed farming enterprise. The farm families grow their own wheat, corn,
vegetables, fruits, and nuts and raised poultry, rabbits, pigs, cows, and sheep. They have the best
health care systems and the best education
Analysis Of The Movie Singing In The Rain
The movie Singing in the Rain was released in 1952 by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly. They
explorer the thoughts ideas on how movie production is being changed with new and improved
filming equipment. Three main ideas that are explored in this movie are the transition of silent
films to audio/voice recording films, how Hollywood produces movies, and a love story to tie it all
together. At the beginning of the filmyou see Don Lockwood played by Gene Kelly, Cosmo Brown
played by Donald O Connor and Kathy Selden played by Debbie Reynolds walking in the rain
singing the song Singing in the Rain . The film cuts to the china theater in Hollywood, showing fans
waiting for the famous actors to arrive at the red carpet. When Cosmo arrives by himself
Hemimorphite Research Paper
The Minerals Among Us: Hemimorphite New Jersey is home to many rocks and minerals. That is
because of the state s location when the North American Continental Plate was Separated from the
African plate a long time ago, during Pangea. When the continents broke apart, volcanic rifts rose,
pouring new rocks and minerals over New Jersey. One of the minerals found here is Hemimorphite.
It can be found in many places in New Jersey, including Sterling Hill, Sterling Mine, and other
places in Sussex County. Hemimorphite is a rare form of zinc silicate. It comes in many different
colors, such as blue, white, transparent, and rarely, green. For example, Hemimorphite found in
Sterling Mine in Sterling Hill, Sussex County are large white crystal ,up
Four Principles Of Collaborative Learning
What is collaborative learning?
Collaborative learning is an instructive way to deal with teaching and learning that involves groups
of students working together to tackle an issue, finish a task, or make a product. According to
Gerlach (1994), collaborative learning is based on the idea that learning is a naturally social act in
which the participants talk among themselves. When collaborative learning strategies are utilized to
support instruction, students have tendency to be more engaged, retain information better, and have
preferable learning results over those of individual learners (McLaren, 2014)
Collaborative learning situation is an important move away from the typical teacher centered or
lecture centered process that take place ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Moreover it encourages the students to have the quality of respecting other s different view in a
particular topic.
Principles of collaborative learning

Collaborative activities are most often based on four principles:

Collaborative learning s first priority are the students.
Collaboration and making a work done are of major importance.
An important approach of learning is working in groups.
It is important to have organized methods to clear out real world problems, plus this should be a
part of learning.

Assumptions
Collaborative learning takes on a variety of forms and is practiced by teachers of different
disciplinary backgrounds and teaching traditions, the field is tied together by a number of important
assumptions about learners and the learning process.
Learning is lively, productive process: In collaborative learning situations, students are not just
taking new thoughts or information. They are producing something new with the information and
ideas. To learn new information, skills or ideas, students have to work lively in purposeful ways.
They need to integrate what they already know to recognize what they thought they
Organizational Change Management
Running head: ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Organizational Change Management
Warrien Poole

Abstract
This research project focused on organizational change management initiated through strategic
planning. Knowing that organizational changes are inevitable and necessary for companies to
achieve their mission and goals, the intent was to present an analysis on some of the important areas
that could affect successful outcomes. Included are strategy, technology, structure, and people as the
four major areas of concentration because they are related and most cases, interchangeable when
there is change. There are also techniques explored that counter the resistance of employees either
afraid or unwilling to change.
Introduction ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The science of organization development was created to deal with changing people on the job
through techniques such as education and training, team building, and career planning.

Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of this research was to understand how successful organizations adapt strategic planning
to the need for change. I also wanted to explore the various methods and responsibilities for
implementing changes effectively. My objectives were to identify successful strategies, how to
respond to resistance, and effectively implement change.
Method
Collection of information for this project included books, journals, videos, interviews and
performance observation with organization administrators and employees.

Findings/Results A successful organization responds intelligently to factors which precipitate

change. Economic climates, political trends, changes in consumer demands, management policy or
structure, employment levels and financial resources all these elements are constantly at play to
ensure that organizations clinging on to static structures will ultimately lose out. But change is a
dynamic and alarming thing and HRD must address how to manage it positively, so that employees
give their support and the positive goals set are worked towards with enthusiasm. Research shows
that the success rate for implementing major organizational change is quite low, for several reasons.
First, asking organizations to change the way they conduct their
Spinal Cord Injuries
Spinal cord injuries can be extremely debilitating with significant impairment in autonomic, sensory,
and motor function (Coll Miro et al., 2016). The prevalence in Canada is on the rise with
approximately 86,000 individuals suffering from such injuries as of 2010 (Noonan et al., 2012).
Spinal cord injuries are generally classified as either traumatic or non traumatic, depending on
etiology (Sabapathy et al., 2015). In addition, they are subdivided into either complete or incomplete,
depending on whether the spinal cordsection is fully or partially damaged (Wilberger and Dupre,
2015). The latter classification has better clinical outcomes as some neurologic function is
reserved (Wilberger and Dupre, 2015). Other subtypes include paraplegia and quadriplegia
denoting paralysis of the lower body or all limbs, respectively (Wilberger and Dupre, 2015; Mayo
Clinic Staff, 2014). The pathogenesis of spinal cord injuries is characterized by primary tissue
damage due to the force of impact, followed by secondary tissue damage as a result of the
inflammatory response (Sabapathy et al., 2015; Coll Miro et al., 2015). The symptoms and severity
may vary depending on the location and pathology of the contusion (Sabapathy et al., 2015).
Presenting symptoms include but are not limited to numbness or pain in the extremities, loss of
sensation, impaired movement or gait, abnormal reflexes, disrupted bladder or bowel function, and
sexual dysfunction (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2014). Several

Uniform Crime Statistics
Although crime has been around for ages, we only started collecting crime data around the 1930 s.
Crime statistics show a lot about a country, state, county, etc. Crime can be linked to the
environment, behavior of others, and personal experiences, it all depends on how the person deals
with the hand they are dealt. Crime data is collected from three sources, which are uniform crime
reports(UCR), national incident based reporting system (NIBRS), and national crime victimization
survey(NCVS). Originally crime data began in the summer of 1870, when congress passed the law
creating the department of justice. When the department of justice was created, their duties was to
make reports to give to congress based on the crimes happening. During... Show more content on

Today most all states participate in crime statistics. Years ago, not every state would turn in their
crime reports, which effected the total percentage of crimes in the nation. The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Justice Statistics report crime statistics. Police stations from all
over the U.S. send their reports of crimes to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of
Justice Statistics. For example, a police station will report to the FBI that they had twenty one
reports of robberies for the current year. The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is a report that is
used for the more serious crimes, such as forcible rape, murder, arson, etc. The UCR is calculated
three different ways. The Federal Bureau of Investigation are specific about the number of how
many incidences were reported for a certain crime. Also, when the FBI calculates the percentages
of the crime reports for a crime and compares the crime rates and an examination is completed to
tell if the crime rate has increased or decreased for the current year. The Uniform Crime Reports
(UCR) also calculates the number of crimes out of one hundred thousand people. Another report
the FBI creates is the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), this report is an
elaborated version of the UCR. It takes all the serious crimes from the Uniform Crime Reports
and breaks them down into certain categories that creates more vivid reports. These reports are
very well detailed and give more information about the crimes, like how many people were
arrested. The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is collected from police stations
around the United States. The NIBRS is a report of basically incident reports. The Uniform Crime
Reports (UCR) and National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) reports are the most used
reports to view crime statistics in the United
Television In The 1960 s
Television in the 1960s brought Americans closer through the stories and tragedies they experienced.
As televisions became more mainstream and affordable, more people invested in them. The time
was right for the industry to flourish. Between 1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the
U.S. with at least one TV went from 88% to 96% (Ganzel). More people buying TVs meant that the
industry grew and the technology could improve. As satellite technology developed, it became
inevitable for satellite televisionto develop. The biggest leap of 1960s television technology wise,
was satellite usage (Thompson). With TV signals that could reach far, and a TV in almost every
American home, people felt more connected to the world around them. They... Show more content on

News programs in the 60s were a major selling point in buying a television. Part of television s
success is due to the news being so relevant and reliable. In the 50s and 60s, news on the
television made very informative and relevant content (Ganzel). Television in the 60s had many
fandoms and communities for its popular shows, such as Star Trek. When many people have
similar interests or like the same thing, they usually get along. When Star Trek first aired, it wasn
t very popular. However, it has since gained a cult following and remains a very active franchise to
today (Feinstein, 12) Television in the 1960s opened a door to a source of information and
entertainment like never before. One of reasons Americans are so united today is because television
in the 60s showed people what they had in common. Television signals weaved in and out of
America, sewing us together and patching our
Examples Of Feminism In Trifles
A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more
responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human
(Nazarian, V., The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration.). Today in most of the countries, many people
think just like this quote, or have similar opinion about the genderequality. However this was not a
normal thing back in the 1880s, when Susan Glaspell, the writer of the play Trifles, lived. The society
back then followed male dominated society, and many thought that male had more values than
female. Susan Glaspell, as a writer, opposed to this flow, and included many feminist features in her
play. The play Trifles, by Susan Glaspell, reflects a strong feminist... Show more content on

They were the broken birdcage, dead canary, and wildly stitched quilt. The quilt symbolises the
bad mental condition of Mrs. Wright, the birdcage symbolises her broken heart, and the canary
symbolises herself. First of all, Mrs. Wright was alone for long period of time, because her
husband did not let her go out, and also Mrs. Hale choose not to visit her. This made her mentally
tired, and caused her to buy a canary to fill up her loneliness. However, Mr. Wright seems to not
like the bird at all, and killed it by twisting its head. This action of Mr. Wright became the final
blow for Mrs. Wright, and her heart broke. This is expressed by the broken birdcage. Mrs. Wright
decided to kill her husband in the same way he killed the canary, which is choking him with rope.
The historical background have connection to this, because Mrs. Wright was one example of
female who could not get rid of the male dominated society. Susan Glaspell might have wrote this
play to show the irony of the male dominated society. The male dominated society (Mr. Wright) that
killed all enjoyable thing in Mrs. Wright was killed by her at the last. The play might be open ended,
because if Susan wrote the specific murder, that might have disappointed someone, and the play
might not have been played at the first place. Through this play, Susan wanted to show audiences
that how ridiculous the male dominated society is, and this is one of the points that shows the
feminist aspects in this
Research Paper On The Cotton Club
The Cotton Club A speakeasy with the best music and performers. The Cotton Club was best
known for its wonderful music and great alcohol. It gave black musicians a place to perform and
a gateway to fame. The club was also a place where white folks could go to enjoy themselves.
Although it was very successful it would be shut down several times but then it would be
reopened just as quickly. The Cotton Club was notably one of the best nightclubs of its time. The
Cotton Club was not always the same. Before it was known as the Cotton Club it was originally
owned by Jack Johnson from 1920 to 1922 . At the time it was known as Club Deluxe. At first it
was a four hundred seater theater and dance hall. It was located in the streets of Harlem, New
