William Stafford s Traveling Through The Dark
In life, people are always faced with choices to make. Whether it is what restaurant to eat at, or
what movie to watch, life is full of decisions. In the poem Traveling Through the Dark, William
Stafford describes how the speaker is faced with a decision between life and death. Throughout the
poem, the speaker constantly goes back and forth between killing an unborn fawn on the side of a
road or allowing the fawn s life to continue, putting human lives in danger. Stafford uses many
literary devices to show the relationship between humanity and nature and how they affect each
other. Throughout the poem, the speaker faces a decision that either benefits man or nature,
reflecting an opposition between wildlife and humanity. Stafford uses the poem as an apparent
metaphor, representing life. In life, people are... Show more content on [Link] ...
The speaker, driving down a canyon road, comes upon a dead deer, his main conflict. At first, the
speaker believes it is usually best to roll them into the canyon, suggesting killing the deer would be
better for everyone, causing other people to avoid swerving past the deer. However [his] fingers
touching her side brought [him] the reason, justifying his second thoughts. Instead of just killing
the deer to benefit humans, the speaker now has to take the unborn fawn into consideration. If he
would leave the fawn, to swerve might make more dead ; however, if he would push the deer into
the canyon, the unborn fawn would die. The decision of the speaker seemingly goes back and forth
between killing the deer, or keeping it alive, suggesting that some decisions are harder than others.
As the speaker contemplates what he is going to do with the deer, under the hood purred the steady
engine and the wilderness listen[ed], suggesting the car as an impatient
Oops, She Did It Again Essay
11 October 2010 Oops, She Did It Again Over the past decade, Britney Spears has gone downhill
little by little from becoming famous after being on Disney channel. While doing a case study on
Britney Spears, I learned the music industry stole away her innocence and molded it into an
attempt to transition from a pop princess to a sexy adult performer that would sweep millions.
Her overexposure and paparazzi frenzy causes her to go insane because she has no privacy.
Additionally, there is proof that Britney has had many psychotic breakdowns. Maybe the reason for
her actions in the past has to do with the fact her children being taken away from her custody and
her career going slowly down the drain. Also, she has been in a constant... Show more content on

After becoming popular nationwide, her music career boosted up while performing jaw dropping
concerts for the Super bowl, MTV, and VMA music awards. In one of the VMA s, fans were
disgusted when Britney kissed Madonna. Only wearing a bra and a mini skirt, the music
industry wanted her to be sexier as her fashion in clothing became unsuitable every time she
recorded for a new music video. In the year of 2004, Britney married her back up dancer Kevin
Federline. Shortly afterwards, the newlyweds had their own reality show called Britney and
Kevin: Chaotic. According to an interview with MSNBC, Britney claims her marriage was an act
of rebellion saying, I was on the road for awhile and again I was doing a lot of what I was told
instead of what I wanted to really do. And I didn t know how to break out of that. So in my young
mind I m like, I m gonna just get married to someone of my home friends. You know what I mean?
It was just like something. But I have no regrets with anything I ve ever done (Spears). Two years
after marriage, Britney files for a divorce with Kevin because he was caught partying with other
girls. Assuming she was depressed over the divorce and annoyed by the paparazzi, Britney gains
weight, surprisingly shaves her head, then checks into a rehab center. Britney s cry for help caught
the media s attention so they kept following her after she left the Promises rehab center. After the
rehab incident, hairless Britney attacked a
The Pros And Cons Of Procrastination
Procrastination, Is it really all that bad? I personally don t think that procrastination is a horrible
thing, to be honest, I don t think that it should even be called procrastination and I m not the only
one that seems to think this way. I am going to explain why I think that procrastination is not as
bad as people say. To support my reasoning, I will provide information from a few professionals
who have done research on just the question, Is all procrastination really that bad? First, let me
start off by saying that in a TED Talk by Tim Urban titled Inside the mind of a procrastinator,
Urban talks about how he is quite the procrastinator and he wanted to share to the world why
procrastinators are the way they are. Urban explains that Both brains have a Rational Decision
Maker in them, but the procrastinator s brain also has an Instant Gratification Monkey. , but I
disagree with this I believe that everyone has an Instant Gratification Monkey because as he later
said. sometimes it makes sense to be doing things that are easy and fun, like when you re having
dinner or going to bed or enjoying well earned leisure time. That s why there s an overlap.
Sometimes they agree. But other times, it makes much more sense to be doing things that are
harder and less pleasant, for the sake of the big picture. And that s when we have a conflict.
(Urban, 2016). As far as I can tell everyone wants to have fun, so how is it possible for anyone, not
to be a procrastinator? Also, whats
Themes In King Of The Bingo Game
In the short story, King of the Bingo Game , published in 1944, Ralph Ellison explains a man s
brief journey to attain freedom from his oppressing and segregating society, while economically
assisting his ailing wife. He is granted the opportunity to control his destiny and alter his life
forever. He portrays the hope of endless possibilities, as well as anticipated control over one s future.
In the other short story, The Lesson , published in 1960, Toni Cade Bambara explores the concept
of social and economic injustice during the Civil Rights Movement period. Both of these literary
works encompass the theme of predominating one s destiny to be liberated from a socially and
economic society during an era of segregation in American history.
In Ralph Ellison s King of the Bingo Game , the African American narrator, whose name is
unknown, finds himself in a position where he has the power to control his own destiny for once,
or so he thinks. The reader learns that he is from the South, but has come up North, and is taking
his shot at a bingo game. He is broke, hungry, his wife is dying, and he hopes to win the cash prize
of $36.90 to help her. He eventually is called up to spin the wheel for a chance at the prize, but he
freezes, and doesn t let go of the button. This is despite the fact that he explained how a short,
quick press can land a winning double zero. He calls himself the king of the bingo game and keeps
holding down the button until two officers drag him off
Pet Humanization
The pet market is booming, in 2017, the Canadian pet care market will see rapid growth. Despite
stagnation in the pet population, this indisputable performance was possible in Canada and was
supported by the pet humanization trend. This trend has led to increased value sales as pet owners
or as they call it, petparents are increasingly willing to spend more on their pets who they have
deemed members of the family. The Pet Grooming and Boarding industry has grown considerably
over the past decade thanks to rising pet ownership and changing consumer preferences regarding
pet care. Pet parents (i.e. owners) have been purchasing a greater range of high value services for
their pets, contributing to the industry s revenue gains and overall growth (Pet grooming boarding
in Canadamarket research | IBISWorld, 2017).... Show more content on [Link] ...
Growth in this industry is expected to continue in the years to come. In 2017, IBISWorld reports that
39.7% of industry revenue comes from pet boarding accounts. Pet boarding includes services such as
overnight care for animals, which typically includes accommodation, food, play time and exercise.
This segment does not include overnight stays that pets may require after or during medical
treatment. Over the past five years, animal boarding has increasingly diversified, with companies
greatly expanding their selection of services. Although standard kennels are still common, following
the recent trend, a variety of luxury pet boarding establishments has popped up that offer tiered
Aristotle And Aristotle s Theory Of Moral Virtue
Nietzsche and Aristotle were two of the most significant philosopher of not only their time but their
works has lasted throughout the centuries to influence even some today s greatest minds. Their
works however could not be any separated, Aristotle is a prominent figure in ancient Greek
philosophy, making contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics
, politics, agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre. He was a student of great thinkers such as Plato
and Socrates. He believes that ethics is a process to finding the final end or the highest good. He
states that although there are many ends in life those are usually only means to further ends, our
ambitions and wants must have some final purpose. Aristotlebelieves that this highest end is that of
Happiness. He introduces the concept moral virtuewhich is the ability to properly control desires to
follow bad actions, and is the focus of morality. Centered on the core of Aristotle s account of
moral virtue is his doctrine of the mean. According to this doctrine, moral virtues are character
traits which are at in between more extreme character traits. While Nietzsche a German
philosopher, essayist, and cultural critic. He believes that Good is originally designated only the
right of those individuals with social and political power to live their lives by sheer force of will.

Originally Zexu felt it would be a good economic stimulus for China. Later Zexu felt there would be

attempting to weaken them. Additionally it also became perceived as a health threat, like poison.
There was a fear as well that native opium growing would take away pivotal land needed for grain
cultivation, which was needed for food supply as well ass threaten political instability. In Fijian, fear
ensued as land scarcity made it necessary for food importation from Taiwan. Commoners and
officials wanted prohibition to protect food supply demands.
The dichotomy exists throughout the article, which were the benefits vs. the threat of opium. For
example, traditional Chinese doctors supported the medicinal effects, however did warn of potential
overdose. Note should be taken the the opinions of these Chinese medicine practitioners, however,
seem to have had little or no effect on official policy debates (Lin, pg
Summary Of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, And James...
Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, and James Baldwin have some of the most well known African
American writers. Although they lived during the same time and agreed that race was an enormous
problem, they all had different approaches. For example: King believed in nonviolent protest and
integration, Malcolm X wanted a separate society for blacks and violent protests, and Baldwin
knew that white people were the key to solving inequality if they learned their history of oppression
and wanted integration. While having different ideas, all of them played a key role in the civil
rights movement. None of this would be possible without the works of Phillis Wheatley, David
Walker, and Frederick Douglass. Similarly to the future leaders, Wheatley, Walker, and Douglass
have different ideas on how to combat the oppression in that time. Phillis Wheatley broke the mold
when she had her work published, being not only a woman, but also the first African American
author to be published. She is also oldest of the three like before Walker and Douglass were even
born. This translates into her writing and stylistic choices. In order to be published, Wheatley
needed to be conservative and safe in her writing but of course; she found a way around that
restriction. At first glance, her poems may seem thankful to her captors; after a closer look, she
disguises the hypocrisy of her captors and their religion with thankfulness. Wheatley questions, I,
young in life, by seeming cruel fate was
Summary Of Fifty Shades Freed
With the anticipation of Fifty Shades Darker coming out, it seems Dakota Johnson and Jamie
Dornan are already gearing up for Fifty Shades Freed. The two were spotted wandering up and
down the Cote d Azur beach. But the interesting part was when the actress was seen in a skimpy
yellow two piece bikini while photographers were taking pictures like crazy. Is this the scene from
the Fifty Shades Freed novel where the two lovers were already on their honeymoon? It must be
that because Dakota suddenly went topless to sunbathe while her co star Jamie Dornan approached
her for some massage. The sweetest part was when Jamie made sure his co star was all covered up
with a towel whenever they were not being filmed. According to reports, in the same

A Summary On Getting Around A Car
Summary
Getting around is important for people who have plans set out for the day and have to get someone
at a specific time. And today there are a few ways for a person to get around want using a car, bus,
or train. Some people choose to use the taxi service Uber if they need a quick ride or are out of a car.
Uber is a taxi service that allows a person to use their application to hail a ride. Using the
application, a person can choose who they want to drive them and see how long it will take for the
driver to pick them up.
Compared to people using buses, trains, or older taxi services to get to where they need to be using
Uber has a better chance. Uber uses real time within their application so their customers can see

When it comes to transportation quick, easy, and cheap, Uber is the choice. The Uber application
is a transportation service that stands out among the rest. What makes Uber stands out is that it is
cheaper, able to help those with disabilities, has helped with reducing drunk driving incidents, has
GPS, and helped with amber alters. Uber has the safety what is needed for transportation and
helps with safety. In this day and age, people worry about their safety and transportation is where
someone and their belongings are vulnerable. With Uber, people and their belongings are more
secure in getting to their destination at a cheap price. Uber is usable for anyone with a phone to
use is some people top choice to use for a ride.
Previous Approaches
Transportation services that are being used are standard taxi services, buses, and trains. The two
problems with common taxi services are the cost and security. Taxi services prices are more
expensive and if someone is looking to save up money that is not that way to go. There are also
cases of taxi drivers assaulting customers, often lone women.
The downside of using buses and trains would be a lack of privacy, little personal security, chances
of theft, and chances of racial or sexual harassment. With so many people sharing a confined space,
no one has privacy on a bus or train. If anyone want to harm someone then a bus or train provides
an easy setting. A lot of theft and robbery also take place on moving
My Thoughts On The Classroom
Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn t know what to expect. I had
signed up for the course just as a way to get credit for an IDS requirement, and did not think too
much about this class at first. My thoughts were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed
kind of strange to me. However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We
talked about each other before we did anything else. We formally introduced ourselves and
expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that room that we all
have our differences, but, we can still share this experience together. This was different than any
other class that I had previously taken, last semester, or in high school. There was so much to this
class that I could use in everyday life than probably any other class previously taken. We were taught
lessons that had helped change our lives for the better. We were also introduced to such inspirational
characters, whether it be Julia Butterfly Hill, Henry David Thoreau, or even some people we never
got the names. The videos that were shown to us were also very inspiring, and they definitely
made me think of what we are doing as a nation, or better yet, as a species of animal living on this
planet. There was so much that I have learned, that I cannot simply forget in a day s notice, unlike
most other classes this semester. The knowledge that I have gathered is truly a gift, that I will be
thankful for

Some people would find this awkward, as if they were staring, but I knew this was their way of

American culture when greeting someone we would use a hand shake and a simple Hello , however

physical contact can make them uncomfortable.
India is highly spiritual country, with rich and diverse culture and tradition (Edith Cowan

thought it was strange that still in the 21st century that arranged marriages still took place.
However, they told me it is not as strict as it was years ago. It is usually the oldest brother of the
family that will find a husband for his sister. He will go and meet with the potential husband s
family, if he and the family agree to move forward, a date will be set for the two to meet. If the
woman or man really do not seem to like each other, then they do not have to marry. Talking to
A Brief Note On The World War II
World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to
1945, though related conflicts began earlier. It involved the vast majority of the world s nations
including all of the great powers eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and
the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, and directly involved more than 100 million
people from over 30 countries. In a state of total war , the major participants threw their entire
economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, erasing the distinction
between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust
and the strategic bombing of industrial and population... Show more content on [Link] ...
For a year starting in late June 1940, the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth were
the only Allied forces continuing the fight against the European Axis powers, with campaigns in
North Africa and the Horn of Africa, the aerial Battle of Britain and the Blitz bombing campaign,
as well as the long running Battle of the Atlantic. In June 1941, the European Axis powers
launched an invasion of the Soviet Union, opening the largest land theatre of war in history,
which trapped the major part of the Axis military forces into a war of attrition. In December 1941,
Japan attacked the United States and European territories in the Pacific Ocean, and quickly
conquered much of the Western Pacific. The Axis advance halted in 1942 when Japan lost the
critical Battle of Midway, near Hawaii, and Germany was defeated in North Africa and then,
decisively, at Stalingrad in the Soviet Union. In 1943, with a series of German defeats on the
Eastern Front, the Allied invasion of Italy which brought about Italian surrender, and Allied
victories in the Pacific, the Axis lost the initiative and undertook strategic retreat on all fronts. In
1944, the Western Allies invaded German occupied France, while the Soviet Union regained all of
its territorial losses and invaded Germany and its allies. During 1944 and 1945 the Japanese suffered
major reverses in mainland Asia in South Central China and Burma, while the Allies crippled
