El Nino Fidencio the Mythical Curandero
El Nino Fidencio The Mythical Curandero Throughout the book Curanderismo: Mexican American
Folk Healing Trorrer and Chavira make mention of el Niño Fidencio in countless areas of the book.
It is mentioned that one of the most important spiritualist movement is based on the life teaching,
and the spirit of a famous young folk healer (now dead) from northern Mexicoel Niño Fidencio
(1997:35). Even today el Niño is an important figure in many aspects of the belief system and
practice associated with the Curanderismo folk healing. History plays a major role in culture when it
comes to establishing religion and medical practices, which in the case of the Mexican Curanderos
many times martyrs or perhaps people with supernatural or mythical... Show more content on

This has created a sort of sub culture or cult in which those who have the ability to become a
medium sometimes choose to spend their lives living and working in such temples.
The centros are staffed by trance mediums who, often... go into trance, and (in their words) let the
spirit of el Nino descend on them, their bodies forming a link between the material and spiritual
realms of existence. Through this linkage, the immortal spirit of el Nino performs cure, does
consultations, even predicts the outcome of future events for members of his cult (1997: 35).

Followers of Fidencio and other spirits tend to have much more religious beliefs due to the fact that
they are wholly focused on doing their work through the guidance, protection and possession by that
saint. Although it is interesting to note that people consider the curenderos to be a saints because of
the connection that they have with the seen unseen realms associated with the gifts that mediums
possess. Not all mediums choose to become part of a cult dedicating themselves and their work to
the will of a saint who will ultimately work through them. Others might choose to work alone, some
for profit and some solely for personal growth knowledge and gratification as is mentioned in

Bayesian Learning Essay examples
BAYESIAN LEARNING

Abstract

Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a
mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory
establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some
evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence
will predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of
research areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks.
At the same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically
inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge.
The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship
among beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988).

One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian
methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive
modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance.

Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the
Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively
and established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now
famous paper. The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in
future trials can be calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s
consider some everyday knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use
this everyday cliche to suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from
everyday experience? Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some
outcome given a particular situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating

Abstract
As the days go by the technology of the world advances too. We sit back as people present to us
these new inventions to improve our environment. Do you ever think back the materials and supplies
you use for your personal needs? Over consumption of natural resources is huge problem in our
world. With the new technological advances there are alternative ways to meet these needs. As I sit
in my environmental science class, we discuss what natural resources are being over consumed not
for our needs anymore, but for our wants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our consumption patterns can be measured by our social status and acceptance. The bigger the
pressures upon a person to conform to safe and accepted social standards, the more they end up
expressing their aspirations and their individuality in terms of what they wear, drive, eats, what
they call home, their pattern of food serving, their hobbies . My invention is a bracelet that one
wears on a daily basis that keeps tracks of the consumption of natural resources. This monitoring
bracelet will help many become aware of the over use of natural resources that they use in their
everyday lives that they do not need. For example we use a calorimeter, multi meter, gas
chromatograph and mass spectrometer. Each of these measure a different natural resource.

As you look around where you are sitting, think about how many do not recycle at home and how
many leave the water running while they brush their teeth. Over consumption of natural resources
do not come into mind when you are using the significant resources that are slowly being
unavailable to us. In California, the third largest state of the United States of America, we have
been in a drought for four or more years, although government has made announcements, sent out
notices, set laws/restrictions, and made commercials to show on television. The state of California
is over populated and people are not really aware of what is going. Riverbanks that would usually be
filled up with water, about to
Priscilla Queen Of The Desert Film Analysis
What is National Cinema ? A Question proposed by Tom O Reagan in Australian National Cinema
(2005). The question leads to the sociological understanding that national cinema is constructed by
both national and international film industries, the national film text and also by the various cultural,
social and political contexts. National Cinema is a vehicle for social processes, emerging social
identity and movements. A film may categorised as a national cinema based on a number of factors:
the language spoken in the film, the nationalities or dress of the characters, the country that supports
the film financially, the setting, music or cultural elements present in the film. Which points to The
Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O Reagan perfectly explains that The Woman centred narrative is one feature genre that has
maintained an ongoing though minor presence on production schedules, particularly from 1970.
Then he goes on to explain that Public campaigns of the domestic feminist movement have been
strong, and a prioritising of relationships as a central point of focus in Australian cinema has been
necessary because it has had to rely less on action and more on relationships. One of the strongest
characteristics associated with Australian cinema is the language, the Australian cinema has an
upper hand being that the spoken language is English. This establishes Australia in the mainstream
language majority. Although Australia has an impact on an international level and has an extremely
iconic accent, on one hand this works in benefit being that the market for Australian language is
demanding whereas on the other hand the Australian slang/lingo is extremely hard to understand
and interpret, it is also very hard to translate without losing its comedic
Compare And Contrast Cortes And Francisco Pizarros
It is not always easy to compare two great things, like trying to compare apples to oranges, but two
of the world s most influential explorers? That is a challenge! Hernán Cortés and Francisco pizarro
are two that are pretty comparable, but are also very different in their ways. Hernán Cortes is one of
Spains most influential explorers. He heard of the failed expeditions that had been repelled by the
indians, and he believed that he could succeed where they had failed. In 1519, he landed of the
coast of mexicowith about 600 troops, 16 horses, and some cannons. The armour they wore and the
guns, horses, and cannons had never been seen by the indians before. The message quickly got back
to Moctezuma, who sent emissaries to make peace with the conquistadors. This soon was found to
be unsuccessful and Cortés started making his inland trek to Tenochtitlán. As he was making his
way, he ran into many villages, many of which he recruited to help him in the fight against the Aztec
people. Cortés himself was thought to be Quetzalcoatl by Moctezuma, a god king that swore to

bloody civil war, in which Atahualpa had won the throne of the Inca from his brother. The ruler

with the aid of indian allies. They slaughtered thousands of Inca, and demanded a high ransom

continuous resistance from the Inca, Pizarro made his way across the Incan heartland and
conquered the empire. From peru, Spanish forces ran rampant through Ecuador and Chile, and
before long had most of South America to its growing empire. Pizarro was killed by a rival Spanish

they have no control over the future. Every single day we see examples of people trying to control

Dr. Haber, George Orrs psychiatrist, uses his machine, The Augmentor, to read levels of George
Orrs dreams in which Dr. Haber can ultimately make them affective. Habers actions shows the
desire to have power in what the future holds. In addition, needing to have power to control the
future is showing we want to have a future which have our desires in mind and not any surprises
which could affect our self. The main priority Dr. Haber has it to make George Orr dream
affectively of values that he thinks need to be in society and make the world the place into a
peaceful environment with no suffering. For example, George Orr makes the world less
populated, no wars going on, no racism and the society as a whole into a wonderful congregation.
With having the power to change dreams into a persons desire, there is no opportunity for any
change which would in fact make life boring. I feel this way due to having difficulties in my life an
opportunity for myself to learn and understand the values which are the most important in life. With
having this knowledge I can learn to use my values towards society much like the way Dr. Haber
wanted.

In the article written by Ursula LeGuin, Science Fiction and the Future, LeGuin speaks of what
societys perception of the future is, the dreams we have for ourselves. Just like the article, Science

Ancient egypt was a fantastic and innovative culture which was incredibly advanced for its time.
The ancient egyptians had many beliefs vital for their continuation as a civilization. The birth of

the cycle of the sun and moon was to represent creation (tayler pg 29). this cycle was referenced in
almost everything, even where they lived and buried their dead. In The Mummy they state
Hamunaptra, city of the dead and burial site for the sons of kings (sommers 0.04.00) this sounds
reasonable except that this fictional city resides in the east not in the west where it should
theoretically be. this quote taken from the movie, doesn t explicitly say where the city resides but
later on we can see the sun rising revealing Hamunaptra (sommers 0.37.51). In the beginning of
the movie we see the Pyramids of Giza, then the camera pans down and the narrator says that the
city they are in is Thebes( sommers 0.1.08).the reason why the Pyramids of Giza are named such is
because they are in Giza. The ruins of Thebes is in modern day Luxor, The pyramids of Giza are
approximately seven hundred kilometres north from Luxor (Egypt [map]), and by extension Thebes.
so not only was Sommer incorrect about the theoretical placement of hamunaptra, but he was also
about 700 kilometres wrong about the Giza

Frigid. Famine. Bankruptcy. These are just a few terms that describe the Russian social problems
during the revolutions that took place from March 8th, 1917 to November 7th, 1917. The revolution
involved the people of Russia and the imperial family. The cause of this massive revolution was
caused by famine, death, impending advancement, and corruption, especially within the government.
Tsar Nicholas II was born on May 18th, 1868 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Nicholas II was born in
the house of Romanov, the last imperial line to rule Russia. Nicholas II became the last emperor of
Russia on November 1st, 1894, the same day that his father died of kidney disease. Throughout his

They killed millions of native Russians. They continued with the terrible ruling that the imperial
family had imposed upon the citizens. The one thing the Bolshevik party did not, and did not
well, was stand up for what they believed in. They went against the crown, they stood up for what
they wanted, they did not what they believed to be right. They may have made terrible choices in
standing up for what they believed in, but the importance is that they actually did not something.
There were multiple groups who did not agree with how the country was being run and the person
in charge of running it. Those people were able to voice their opinion, but they did not take action.
They did not take a stand like the Bolsheviks did. Now, this isn t going to say that the people who
didn t do more were weak, they took their own stand with voicing out against the only government
they have ever had, they went against all prior knowledge. As a country that during this time period
was still considered not nearly as advanced, to go against your form of government is everything.
These people who decided that they wanted safe working conditions, economic stability, the military
men to come home, and fair governing, those are the people who took a stand. They spoke up for
what they believed in, they reformed the government, and they made strides towards making their
country something to have pride
The Team Based Reward System For The State Of Georgia Essay
Aguinis (2013), teaches us there are many factors that contribute to organizations complimenting an
individual performance management system with a team performance aspect. Increased pressures
for global competition, the need for product innovation, and the reduction of hierarchical levels in
the organization allows for a natural extension of a system that focuses on individual performance
only. This paper will analyze the team based reward systemdesigned for the State of Georgia by
Georgia s Department of Human Resources. First, will discuss the positive and negative aspects of
their reward system. Next we analyze the labor relations issues facing this reward system and
uncover and legal implications the State may be facing. Finally, this paper will make a
recommendation to the State of Georgia to improve its current reward system by also taking into
account labor relations and legal implications.
Introduction
Aguinis (2013) discusses that fact that team based organizations do not necessarily outperform work
teams or teams in general. A reward system we learn, should not only target individual performance,
but teams as a whole (p. 295). An ideal performance management system includes such
characteristics as strategic and context congruence, thoroughness, the ability to identify effective and
ineffective performance, inclusiveness, standardization and ethicality. The reward system applied to
the State of Georgia, exhibits many similar characteristics of an ideal
Dbq Alien And Sedition Act
Given the rights suppressing nature of the Alien and Sedition Acts, there was naturally a strongly
negative response to the passage of the legislation, which marred then President John Adams
reputation in the eyes of the public. The Bill of Rights bestowed upon people of America the
freedom of speech and press in the first amendment ( Congress shall make no law... abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press ) in 1791. Yet, only seven years later, in response to the American
protest of the conflict with France, the Alien and Sedition Actswere passed, which have been called
some of the most hotly debated laws in American history (Lynch). The Alien and Sedition acts were
a set of four laws: the Naturalization Act, the Alien Friends Act,... Show more content on

The Sedition Act was not related to immigration, but rather free speech and press the Sedition Act
made it illegal to participate in any writing, printing, uttering, or publishing any false, scandalous,
and malicious writing or writings against the government of the United States. Although it was now
illegal, the negative reaction to the Acts and President Adams did not go unheard. David Brown in
Massachusetts erected a liberty pole proclaiming No Sedition Act, No Alien Bills... downfall to the
Tyrants of America; peace and retirement to the President; Long Live the Vice President. He was
arrested in June 1799 and was given the most severe sentence imposable under the Alien and
Sedition Acts (Stone, 64). Clearly the phrase retirement to the President; Long Live the Vice
President reflected the belief that Adams signing of the Alien and Sedition Acts was tyrannical and
that Vice President Thomas Jefferson (a strong opponent to the Alien and Sedition Acts) should have
replaced Adams certainly not a booster to the President s public
