b) Explain any TWO desirable features of an iron sheet roof mounted solar PV module
installation
C) A client in Marsabit has a the following loads which he requires to be supplied by SHS
AC Solar PV.

b) A certain circuit with a nominal voltage of 12V DC draws a current of 7.5 A
and has a one way distance of 10m. Determine the voltage drop in the
cable if :
i) 5 mm2 cable with a coefficient of resistance of 0.0183 is used
ii) 10 mm2 cable with a coefficient of resistance of 0.0165 is used

c) Explain ANY FIVE objectives of a site survey for a PV installation (10 marks)

3.a) state the full meaning of the following abbreviations and then explain them
i) BIPV
ii) VRLA battery
iii) LVD (6 marks)
b) Explain the following terms as used in Solar PV systems
i) Balanced connection of batteries in parallel
ii) Peak Sun Hours (4 marks)

4.a) State ANY TWO possible causes of failure of the following PV components.
i) PV modules
ii) Flooded type solar PV batteries (4 marks)
b) Explain ANY THREE objectives of a site survey with regard to PV Array and
equipment location.

5. a) State FOUR key requirements of system documentation required by the ERC on
completion of system installation.
(2 marks)
b) Explain the THREE steps of evaluating a completed PV installation before
educating the end user and handing over the installation.
