Guidelines on using the machine

1. The machine, LNB, and NPM-DGS are the equipment to be connected

to LAN.
Use them on your company’s LAN (intranet).
From the perspective of product security, use them to be connected to
the robust network.
2. Do not reveal the equipment-operating passwords to others.
We highly recommend that your password is at least 5 characters long.
3. When sending the PC for LNB, NPM-DGS, etc. to a repair shop or
disposing of it, pull out the hard disk or format the hard disk
beforehand.
4. If you used an SD card in the case of emergency operation due to
network troubles, delete its contents when normal operation is
resumed.
5. We highly recommend you update your machine to the latest version of
OS for product security enhancement.

 Failure to comply could result in the leakage of user ID, password, and your production data to a
malicious outsider.

 The information recorded in an SD card may not be completely deleted through the basic
function of the operating system. Therefore, you are recommended to use commercial software
for complete deletion.

 The machine refers to the NPM machine main body.

 LNB is a relay system connecting the machine and NPM-DGS.
 NPM-DGS refers to the production-data generation system.

 For information about how to remove a hard disk from your computer or initialize a hard
disk, refer to its instruction manual or contact the manufacturer.

1. Overview

This chapter describes overview of the gerber converter.

NPM-DGS
Gerber Converter
1.1 Overview of the Gerber Converter

1.1 Overview of the Gerber Converter

The Gerber Converter is a system to create the inspection data after printing from the metal
mask gerber data.

 For NPM
NPM creates the solder inspection data after printing as well as it has the function to create setup
information for APC (Advanced Process Control) data creation. It supports data creation to
control placement machine using the APC feed forward function.

The Gerber Converter starts up from the PCB editor of NPM-DGS.

① Solder inspection data creation

The solder inspection data is created from the gerber data and aperture data.
Specifying the gerber data and aperture data, setting PCB range, positioning a solder and a
mask hole are necessary. Being tied to a placement part with a mask hole is necessary. It also
available to create land, and being tied to the created land.
In addition, you can also adjust the angle settings for those placement parts whose mounting
angles are not a multiple of 90 degrees.

② APC data creation

Setting information to create the APC data is created. It can send feed forward information to the
placement machine by a board basis or placement point basis.

③ Solder judgment data creation

The solder judgment data is linked to the solder inspection data. At the initial startup, it is linked
to the judgment data of the master library.

④ Setting deletion for the solder data tied to the part which cannot come
into one-view.
The solder data inspection function has limitations for parts inspection which cannot come into
one-view after printing, therefore, it is necessary to delete the data being tied to the parts that are
out of view. This is the function to set and delete the solder data.

 For SP
It creates and manages the inspection data after printing.
It is intended for SP70/SPD/SPG, and described simply as “SP” in the text.

① Inspection data creation

It creates the data for solder inspection and mask inspection from the gerber data and aperture
data.
Specifying the gerber data and aperture data, setting PCB range and view creation are
necessary.

The Gerber Converter starts up from the SP editor of the NPM-DGS.

② Parts and mask holes positioning

 This procedure applies when the machine is NPM. If the machine is SP, see “③ Board area
setting using the recognition point.”
There are two methods to position parts and mask holes.

Type 1: Positioning using board recognition point A

Positioning as a reference of board recognition point A

Type 2: Positioning using a placement part

Select the area of the part and the board to be paired with the mouse and positions.

If board recognition point A exists in the mask hole displayed on the screen, use type 1 to
position. If there is no recognition point A, use type 2.

 For type 2, you cannot position by using the land and the standard placement parts of the land.
 For type 2, select the part (e.g. 2-electrode chip component) which is bilaterally and diphycercal
symmetry with the mask hole.

3.1.5 Adjustment of Angle Setting

 This procedure applies when the machine is NPM.

With respect to the portion(s) of a part to be obliquely mounted, on which to perform solder
inspection, you will create data of slanted solder.
This is intended for those parts whose mounting angles are not a multiple of 90 degrees. So, no
adjustment needs to be made in the absence of such target parts.

When no adjustment needs to be made, click [Next].
