The Experience of a Refugee in Casablanca
World War II was a period in which movie s depicted a sense of patriotism from propaganda to
training videos. The Germans invaded Poland and the World fell into frenzy. Americans, with the
help of France, Russia, Great Britain and later on Italy, crushed the fronts of the Germans and
stopped the Nazis from taking control of the world. With the mess of Japanese forces attacking
Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 the United States entered World War II. One of the most
famous movies to date came out of the Warner Bros. editor s room. Casablanca emerged out of
World War II and showed a great sense of what it was like to have been a refugee and a runaway,
seeking shelter from the Germans. With World War II going on Hollywood shoveled out
Propaganda by taking films and producing them in ways to make you feel Patriotic and want to
join the war effort. Casablanca was one of many movies that promoted World War II by showing
that the Germans were the enemies of the world. One example in Casablanca was when Ilsa and
Rick left France because of the German take over; another was that Major Strasser was portrayed
as an enemy against the poor refugees and the Czech and Norwegian resistance groups in
Casablanca. Casablanca portrayed another way to promote enlistment by showing resistance by the
French and how Captain Renault at the end of the movie backstabbed Major Strasser and joined
Rick s side. The movie as a whole shows the Germans as arrogant and uptight socialists; it degrades

so much that the circusgoes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination.
According to Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak showin America, the popularity
of the circus had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of
audience, such as new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The

America is revealing a renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly
apparent since the Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward
country folk waiting for the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city
people who frequented P.T. Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in
New York City. This time around, it is middle America enjoying the circus on their wide screen
televisions in the privileged privacy of their dens and theater rooms. As the vast array of freaks in the
Hamlet Chapter 1 Analysis
When they come back to the pontoon, Huck and Jim find that the duke has printed a handbill that
depicts Jim as a runaway slave from New Orleans. The handbill, the duke contends, will permit them
to run the pontoon amid the day without interruption. The following morning, Jim says he can
withstand maybe a couple rulers yet close to that.

Chapter twenty one twenty three:

Planning for their next trick, the duke and ruler hone the gallery scene from Romeo and Juliet and
the sword battle from Richard III. As a reprise, the duke additionally shows the lord a cluttered
variant of Hamlet ssoliloquy. A couple of days after the fact, they go aground in Arkansas and
choose to show their insight into Shakespeare. The town is a soiled spot with roads of mud and
loafers spitting tobacco. As Huck investigates, a tanked man named Boggs races into town vowing
to murder a man named Colonel Sherburn. The nearby townspeople giggle at Boggs and comment
that his conduct is normal practice, and he is innocuous. After a brief period, Sherburn leaves his
office and advises Boggs to quit taking a stand in opposition to him. Boggs keeps on swearing at
Sherburn, and, in countering, Sherburn levels a gun and slaughters him.

The town quickly chooses that Sherburn ... Show more content on [Link] ...

the older sibling between her and her sister. Her father was a biblical scholar who also believed in
the inspiration of the Word of God and became the Director of the British Museum. Kathleen goes
on to say about having her father as a Director of the British Museum it was most useful to have
the national collection at one s disposal, added to which were the joys of accompanying my father
by the light of an electric torch to select books from the great catalogue in his Reading Room. She
enjoyed the access to material and studying she could do. Kathleen s mother was not a scholar she
was more artistic and musically talented. Amy s skills in painting and art was a complement to her

Moodity Definition Essay
Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non commodities based on whether or not their
messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not
benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a commodity.
However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer a commodity
because it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by others, literature
can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the work by their
audience. The term commodity itself, as coined by Marx, has a very broad definition. The
commodity is, first of all, an external object, a thing which... Show more content on [Link]

John Lennon, through his music, spread his view of the importance of world peace. He was able
to gain many followers to his movement and impact the world of music and politics through his
music. John Lennon himself was wealthy and did not need to spend his time and energy on
trying to better life for the less fortunate. Because he was actually able to send out his message
and effectively create rallies and movements in response to his views, his listeners made his
music a commodity. However, though his music was able to do a lot of good, it also was the
reason he was incredibly wealthy. Through his social status because of his wealth, he was able to
spread his message. His listeners, in order to hear his message, would buy his music and feed into
his fame and fortune. This defies the definition of commodity because his literature, or his music,
was also very beneficial to himself. Though his listeners used it to create political awareness of the
need for peace, he also used it to keep his name famous and to keep his income steady. This
complicates his music as defined as a commodity, and shows that an audience can give something
use value and make it a commodity at the same

For Apollo and Daphne, Daphne is now the reason why we have the Laurel Tree. The differences
between Cupid s original story and most modern story is when the stories were first created, they
had different fact told and included. Now that the story has been passed down in time, it has been

His stories were repurposed by the Romans. This is what transformed Eros into Cupid. Latin
Literature explains his relationship with his mother, Venus. But he is mostly identified as the
offspring of Mars and Venus, the god and goddess of love and war. The Renaissance period is
what really depicted Cupid to be a chubby baby with a bow and arrows. The lead arrows were
forgotten as well as Cupid being a grown man. In the 1900s, the modern mythology of being shot

The Modern Law Of Murder
The modern law of murder developed over many centuries from the English common law of
homicide. Homicide is simply defined as the killing of another person. Before the 1500 s, common
law judges categorized homicide into two broad categories known as, criminal and noncriminal
homicides (Samaha, 2013). Over the next five decades, a number of newly developed statutes were
established and further divided criminal and noncriminal homicide. Criminal homicide included
murderand manslaughter, while noncriminal homicide was divided into justifiable and excusable
homicide (Samaha, 2013). By the 1700 s, three types of homicides were firmly embraced by English
common law and the American Colonies. The three categories according... Show more content on

Murder, under common law, is the unlawful killing of another person in existence with malice
aforethought (Bower, 2014). In other words, an individual had to have a clear criminal intent with
some amount of spite, hate, or bad will to commit the killing before the murder occurred and had to
be planned in advance (Samaha, 2013). To illustrate, during the 1550 s, English homicide statutes
outlined activities such as poisoning or lying in wait as examples of preplanned murders. However,
while murder was initially only thought of as an intentional and premeditated act, over time judges
saw the need to develop new classifications of murders that didn t fit the standard definition. First,
sudden killings that were intentional, but not premeditated were added. These types of murder were
often completed during a heat of passion moment and were unreasonably provoked by the victim s
actions (Samaha, 2013). However, unreasonably provoked means that the victim s actions were not
substantial enough to justify the actions of the attacker. Secondly, judges added unintentional
killings that were completed during a felony (Samaha, 2013). While most murders require intent to
cause death, under this law, any homicide committed during the commission of a felony, regardless
of whether it s intentional or accidental will constitute as murder. Third, extremely reckless killings
were classified as depraved heart
