Use of Technology in Election Campaigns
Role of Internet in 2008
Social media
Social media played a vital role in 2008 U.S. President Elections. Using of Social networking
websites like Facebook, Twitter, You tube was adapted by the political parties and influenced them
to use social media in order to reach people effectively in U.S.
Presidential Elections in 2008 has changed the way of campaigning and expressing effectively.
Digital technology allowed leaders to interact with voters, transforming the campaigning totally into
a new level. Both the lead contenders Barack Obama and John McCain engaged with people by
using Social media. But there were many apparent discrepancies between Obama s use and his
opposition use of social media as their medium to communicate with people.
Obama s use of Social media in 2008 election campaign can be compared to former President John
F. Kennedy s use of television. Besides using email and website, Obama focused on Social Media
to activate the young voters. His extensive use of Social Media appeared to be the major factor in
his victory over John McCain in 2008. Obama had 2 million Facebook friends while McCain had
only 600,000. Obama spent millions on advertising in Facebook and Google to grab attention of
voters whereas, McCain used television advertisements. Obama focused on Social media sites to
pass on the information to the millions of volunteers and to get the donations, the campaign used
Social networking sites to connect with voters and supporters. Obama
Hormone Replacement Therapy Essay
Hormone Replacement Therapy in Transgendering the FTM Transsexual
Gender may well be the most defining factor in the spectrum of elements that comprise the human
persona. In fact gender is so basic to our identity, most people mistakenly assume that our sense of
being male or female is defined with absolute certainty by our anatomical sex. Contrary to popular
belief, our sense of gender and anatomical sex are two distinct elements; each developing at different
times in different parts of the body. While my research is limited to hormone replacement therapy
involved in masculinizing a biological female, it should be noted that the psychiatric, psychological,
and medical factors that contribute to cases of gender dysforia are major ... Show more content on

Overview of Hormone Replacement Therapy for the FTM Transexual
Fundamental to sex reassignment treatment of transsexuals is the acquisition of the sex
characteristics of the other sex to the fullest extent possible. With the exception of the internal and
external genitalia, sex characteristics are contingent of the biological effects of the respective sex
steroids. Hormonal reassignment has therefore two aims: 1) to eliminate, in so far as possible, the
hormonally induced secondary sex characteristics of the natal sex and 2) to induce those of the new
sex.
Biologic females treated with testosterone experience the following permanent changes: a deepening
of the voice, clitoral enlargement, mild breast atrophy, increased facial and body hair and male
pattern baldness. Reversible changes include increased upper body strength, weight gain, increased
social and sexual interest and arousability, and decreased hip mass.
Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Hormones are long range chemical messengers of the body, manufactured and controlled by the
endocrine system. The hypothalamus produces gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). This
signals the anterior pituitary gland to synthesize and release luteinizing hormone (LH). To a lesser
degree, GnRH also triggers the synthesis and release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
Subsequently, LH and FSH signal the gonads (ovaries in females, testes in males) to synthesize and
release hormones that cause
Stakeholder Analysis Case Study
Stakeholder Analysis Case Study: BYDauto Enter HK s Electric Taxi / Bus Market
Hui Qiu, EMBA 18 ESC Rennes
Case background
Hong Kong (HK) is one of the most crowded cities in the world, with almost the highest vehicle
density. It has long been criticized for its bad air quality compared to its advanced economy. With
the recently hazardous air pollution in China mainland, HK has been affected as well for its
geographic neighborhood. The Air quality readings recently (PM2.5: 60µg/m³) have exceeded the
loose local standard (50µg/m³), 3 times of WHO s recommended standards (20µg/m³). The public
appeals to the government to take actions to improve air quality.
Electric vehicle (EV) is considered the best solution for the problem. It ... Show more content on

Another factor is the power or influence each stakeholder group has on the running of the whole
project. Of course the groups with highest influences deserve more attention. And the groups with
less power or influences need enough monitor and involvement.
Graph 1 situates the stakeholders on a two dimension graph: Influence over decision making and
level of support:
Graph 1: Stakeholder influence amp; Support
As we can observe from graph 1, the key stakeholders are 3 groups: Government departments
(Transport and Financial); Public transportation sector (fleet operators, taxi drivers and passengers);
competitors (other EV automakers, like Nissan).
Among the key stakeholders, government departments could be the key role of decision making.
They have the willingness of adopting EV taxi / bus under current urgent circumstances, but BYD is
only one of the candidate automakers. Also, to what extent they support EV taxi /bus may decide the
start and success of the project, such as the quantity of new dedicated taxi licenses or enforcement of
taxi replacement; bus line adjustments and old vehicle replacement; monetary and other non
monetary incentives. As we mentioned in table 2, their influences and
Juvenile Justice System
The juvenile justice system is a foundation in society that is granted certain powers and
responsibilities. It faces several different tasks, among the most important is maintaining order and
preserving constitutional rights. When a juvenile is arrested and charged with committing a crime
there are many different factors that will come in to play during the course of his arrest, trial,
conviction, sentencing, and rehabilitation process. This paper examines the Juvenile Justice System
s court process in the State of New Jersey and the State of California. The term juvenile delinquent
was established so that young lawbreakers could avoid being classified in legal records as
criminals. The laws were designed to provide treatment, rather... Show more content on

Depending on the case there is usually a pretrial period where the legal representation of the child
and the state confer and try to come to some sort of settlement. The pretrial period is critical for
any juvenile awaiting sentencing and conviction. Under juvenile criminal law in both states a child
is not given the right to a trial by jury (Neubauer, 452). Instead a juvenile must present their case
before one judge who will then decide their fate. In cases of serious offenses such as rape and
murder, the matter may be referred to the district or county attorney s office, after which the juvenile
may be charged as an adult, tried in the criminal courts, and even sentenced to an adult correctional
facility. In the New Jersey and California Juvenile Justice Systems, a minor has the same
constitutional rights as an adult (Neubauer, 454). A minor is entitled to have their Miranda rights
read to them as would an adult. Furthermore, a minor may invoke their Miranda rights and not make
any statement unless they have an attorney present. Also, although a minor may request to have their

Aviation Centered Spatial Development And The Regional...
LITERATURE REVIEW
The literature in this field centers on on the different land use theories that would be applicable to
aviation centered spatial development. The early theorictial concepts of airport development
focused on the regional development of the Central Business District (CBDs) where airports were
often located on the outlining areas of cities. Land use around airports was not viewed as an integral
component in the economic vitality of urban planning. Early land use theories included: Concentric
Zone Theory Burgess (1925) which stated that cities grew outwards from the centre in a series of
rings; the Sector Model Hoyt (1939) which detailed that city growth sectors radiated out from the
CBD along transport routes; and Multiple Nuclei Theory Harris and Ullman (1945) which
expounded that as an urban area grows, it develops around a number of different business centres or
nuclei. Each nucleus acts as a growth point to which growth occurs outwards from each nucleus,
until they all merge into one large urban area.
The most influential land use theory for airport centered spatial development was that of the Single
Nulcei Theory. This theory, although similar to that of Multiple Nuclei Theory, instead of sprouting
from several economic catalysts, had one primary catalyst serve as the central source of outward
growth for the larger outlining or urban area. All these theories served as precursors for my
research, as the airport city and aerotropolis
How Is Mandela Related To Apartheid Free Country
Mandela leads South Africa to an apartheid free country through the country s main sport rugby. The
documentary starts off by introducing conflict rugby is war...it is a battle of guts. A metaphor is
used to compare rugby to a crime, where lives are lost. This displays the commitment to the sport,
despite the dangerous consequences. Rugby is also used as a symbol rugby [represents]...the worst
of apartheid. Rugby symbolizes the feud between the blacks and whites of South Africa. Justice
Bekebeke, an activist, provides another perspective on the game of rugby in south Africa, every
time the beat up one of the white guys we would shout for joy...[what] they did to us on a daily
basis, they got it on this rugby field. It is ironic how they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the doubt is gone when Mandela openly shows his pride for the team and his country,
There is Mandela somebody could execute him. There he stands in all his blackness, behind this
white sport with these big boys. This statement can be an allegory that represents the elimination of
apartheid in South Africa. The blackness represents all the black people of south Africa who have
been suffering because of the fear of standing up could result in an execution. Moreover, the white
sport, known as rugby, shows who is dominant. It is ironic for a black man to be standing in front of
white people during the time of apartheid. However, Mandela changed the views of many South
Africans He was our 16th man this is a reference to the title. In a rugby team, there are 15 players on
the field, in this case the extra player could stand for Mandela because he was considered to be a

Lúthien Foil
Going along with an expanded life span, Galadriel also had to deal with grief for a long and
probably distressingly painful amount of time. Throughout her prolonged life she dealt with
whatever came her way in a stern yet passive way, rarely actually taking action from what Tolkien
shows us. However, the movie adaptations do give her more of an active life. Lúthien in this regard
is almost a foil to Galadriel because she was all about action. When her true lovewas being held
captive by Sauron she sprang into action saving him from immeasurable pain and suffering. From
there if Beren went somewhere she went too, never backing away from a fight. She truly was an elf
maiden of action, even at one point begging Mandos for the life of Beren, Lúthien cared more for
personal relationships that gaining wisdom. It is uncertain whether Galadriel would have attempted
these same actions or rather just accept her faith. Nether option is wrong or right, just different sides
to the same coin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this does not stop the characters from having basic characteristics that follow them
throughout the saga. This is the case of Arwen Evenstar. She is known as the living reincarnation
of Lúthien, even admitting to Aragorn in the appendix A of The Return of the King saying, So
many have said, she answered gravely. Yet her name is not mine. Though maybe my doom will
be not unlike hers. . . (339). Her prediction came true in the book, perhaps she is like Lúthien in
regards to appearances and eventual destiny, but in basic personality they were not as similar.
Arwen was gentle and reserved, she positively was the ideal elf maiden, reflecting the beauty of the
night and wielding wisdom as her primary weapon. And wise Arwen was, after spending many
years under the tutelage of Galadriel she knew what was best, and not only for

Collaborative gaming goes physical
This quest for more collaboration is a big trend in the gaming industry in general. Although multi
player games have always been a big thing and with the rise of e sports is going to be even bigger,
the contemporary trend points towards a more physical experience. With virtual and augmented
reality, gaming has moved away from just sitting at your desk to a physical activity. It s, therefore,
not a huge surprise to find out that these physical games are looking to incorporate collaboration.
In the future, you might need to put your bodies on the line in order to win a game with friends.
You could even be able to provide physical feelings and emotions to other people through gaming.
The possibilities are endless, although the trend needs some careful consideration in terms of
accessibility will everyone be able to take part in a highly physical gameplay?
The rise of specialized gaming stores
Gamers are a smart bunch of people. They know where and when to shop for their games.
However, the selection is so huge that specialization in the gaming world is bound to happen in
terms of stores. If you look at Steam, nearly 40% of the games in the platform never get played.
Therefore, new ways of shopping for games will appear, focusing on things such as Indie gaming.
For the gamer, this can mean savings. Tighter competition of the games and
Claude Monet Research Paper
Claude Monet was a prolific French painter who founded Impressionism in the 19th century. He
strongly held onto his belief of his painting style throughout his long career and is considered to be
one of the most prominent and influential painters in history. He focused on capturing the feeling or
experience of a certain moment. He was intrigued by the light and color, so he explored their
changes under various weather conditions at various times of day. Monet s fascination of shifting
effect of light and color directed him in the creation of Impressionism. In addition to his passion for
depicting the visual impression, Claude strongly disliked the classical style of painting, which
encouraged him to present the world as it is. Monet was disenchanted with the traditional academics
of art; therefore, he was motivated to pioneer a new and fresh style of painting, which transformed
visual arts and unleashed a path to the beginning of abstraction.... Show more content on

Despite his decent academic progress, he felt confined and restricted from doing the things he
desired that he even compared school to a prison. Claude started spending most of his time
outside and developed a love of drawing at a very young age. With a passion for art in his mind,
Monet made the decision to leave school and pursue his dream. When seventeen, he started to make
money from some of his pieces. The public began to notice Monet s talent, specifically Eugene
Boudin. Eugene Boudin was one of the first French landscape artists to paint outdoors who planned
to befriend Monet. Boudin would take Monet on sketching trips and teach him open air painting.
Through Boudin s work, Claude started to explore the natural world and began to express an
interest in painting landscapes. Monet s new friend not only taught him great artistic skills, but also
persuaded him to expand his love of bright hues and play of light when
