Explain Why There Are Two Sides Of Me Essay
Two Sides of Me Conflict plays a huge role in people s lives. No matter what the circumstance, a
person will be in situation in their life where there are two sides fighting each other and the person
must figure out how to solve the situation. The masks of Comedy and Tragedy are a good
representation of conflict. They are both opposites of each other; one being a symbolof happinessand
the other being a symbol of sadness. When you see these two symbols next to each other, you will
find a symbol of conflict. Since everyone experiences conflict on a daily basis, the Masks of
Comedy and Tragedy can be very relatable symbol. I believe that I relate to this symbol enough to
see it as my icon. The masks of Comedy and Tragedy show two sides of the way I feel and my

The mask of Comedy is a symbol of joy. When you see me, you will usually find me in a good
mood and I am always trying to start a conversation with someone. I am always open with people
and usually I am always trying to make new friends no matter where I am. I have made a lot of
friends across the state from just talking to people at sporting events. Most of the friends I have
made at those events I am still in contact with and I still talk to. My classmates always say I know
everyone since I always know someone from another when we go to an event where there are
multiple schools. When I am around people, I am very open and always inviting. I am always in
a good mood and I love to laugh. That is how I relate to the mask of Comedy. The mask symbolizes
joy, and most of the time, I am a very joyful person. However, with happiness comes sadness as

Ever since, I wondered whether this impression was correct. The goal of this thesis is to satisfy this
curiosity and to determine, through textual and visual analyses, if the 1986 television series also
carries a Confucian message, or whether it was solely produced for entertainment purposes. This
leads to the following research question:

How does the 1986 television series Journey to the West convey the novel s original Confucian
message, and what does this suggest for its production purposes?

I argue that authors and producers often attempt to impose their own set of cultural and political
ideologies on its audience through a certain depiction of right and wrong. In this manner, works of
fiction might influence, perhaps even alter, the ideologies of the audience.[3] Accordingly, analyzing
the depiction of ideologies in media content can serve as a basis for further research on if and how
producers intend to influence their audience.

This particular case of Confucianism in the 1986 Journey to the West television series is especially
interesting, due to China s socio political setting of that time. The influence of the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) on media content[4] combined with its usage of Confucianism to secure its
own right to rule[5] make the Journey to the West television series the perfect medium to promote
Confucianism to the masses. The enormous popularity of Journey to the West

Milton Friedman Free Market Monetarism Milton Friedman was the most prominent economist
of free market in 20th century. Friedman was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 31, 1912.
Friedman earned his B.A. from Rutgers University, M.A. from University of Chicago, and Ph.D.
from Columbia University. In 1967, Friedman was the president of the American Economic
Association and served as a economic adviser to President Nixon. In 1976, Friedman won the
Nobel Prize in Economics Sciences, for his achievements in the fields of consumption analysis,
monetary history and theory and for his demonstration of the complexity of stabilization policy.
Friedman taught economics at the University of Chicago for over 30 years. Sadly, Friedman
passed away of heart failure at 94 years old in 2006. Friedman believed a free market economic
system with minimal state intervention works best. Friedman s idea of Laissez Faire, Monetary
Policy, Negative Income Tax, and School Vouchers are revealed in the following paragraphs. First of
all, Friedman created Laissez Faire that states allowing industry to be free from the government
intervention, such as tariffs and government monopolies. Companies expects to be completely
unregulated, so they can maximize their profits. In addition, the private individuals motivated by self
interest would work together to make the society better. The companies still needed help from the
government under the
Tense Present Democracy, English, And The Wars Over Usage
Summary of Tense Present Democracy, English, and the Wars over Usage Published in April of
2001 by Harper s Magazine, David Foster Wallace s essay is both a review of A Dictionary of
Modern Usage by Bryan A. Garner and an interjection into the present day Usage Wars. Wallace s
thesis for his essay is stated after a list of grammatical errors that are overlooked on a daily basis
and a few paragraphs defining SNOOT. His thesis states, Issues of tradition vs. egalitarianism in
U.S. English are at root political issues and can be effectively addressed only in what this article
hereby terms a Democratic Spirit. A Democratic Spirit is an attitude a person can have only by
being fervent in his/her beliefs while also recognizing and respecting the beliefs of another. After
sorting out what constitutes a Democratic Spirit and how to maintain such an attitude the author
questions who has the authority to write a dictionary and, thus, determine which words go into the
book and which words are left on the wayside. Wallace praises Garner for his full discloser
statement, which acknowledges Garner s principles and gives background information to his text.
Next, in his essay, Wallace notes Garner s use of Ethical Appeal. The use of ethos, Wallace says, is
refreshing because it is hardly ever used in dictionary. Most dictionaries are political battle ground in
a war that is fought between the Prescriptivists (linguistic conservatives) and the Descriptivists

Why Do People Support Jim Crow Laws
After reading/viewing the Jim Crow pieces, I conclude that people who supported the Jim Crow laws
thought that African Americans were physically, mentally, and ethically inferior to Caucasians, They
used awfully specific and hateful laws to express their supremacy . The picture Jim Crow supports
my statement by showing animals dressed in better clothing than the African Americanman featured
in the illustration. He seems cheerful and carefree in those tattered clothes, reinforcing Jim Crow s
supporters view that African Americans are naturally crazy and of a lower class. This steadfast
belief provided the reasoning for the laws and punishments common with places under the influence
of Jim Crow. Speaking of laws, the rules and guidelines
Caffeine Discussion
Caffeine Discussion Based on my data, I think my isolation was somewhat of a success and in
some ways not. I was able to obtain a pure recovery from the crude caffeine of 21.46%. It is not
significant amount, but it seemed to be enough. A reason for some loss in my data was that some
of the crystals were lost in the process of removing the inner tube. In addition, although I was
unable to perform the NMR, I perform the IR, but my spectra resemble more like a blank. I obtain
0.05 grams of pure crystal caffeinebut it could be that during my removable of the inner tube that
when both of the tube accidently bumped that I lost some of the crystals, which resulted in not
enough caffeine for me to get an IR spectra with all the peaks. The first step was hot water

It occurs when a chemical does from something really hot to really cold quickly, at a low pressure.
If the pressure were to increase then the solid would become a liquid and then a gas. When it
actually came to the sublimation part, the crude substance of caffeine, was put over a heat source
at high degree of heat, around 200 degrees Celsius. The vacuum pipe was attached to the side of
the tube, and it worked to control the pressure within the tube. In the middle of the tube was the
most important part. There was a smaller tube (cold finger) placed, it was filled with ice cold water
to ensure that the gas would sublime, and when it came in contact with the ice cold tube, white
caffeine crystals would form. To ensure that no water got into the tube where the crude substance
was, we used saran wrap to block it. If water had gotten into the crude caffeine tube, then the
caffeine would have dissolved. We also had to be careful when taking out the inner tube that had the
caffeine crystals as they were

Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play
The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play
was excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I read about Rizal s sacrifices but to
actually see it with my eyes was an eye opener and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are
actually different things. I m not a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually
different from any other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your
history book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play. And, when
the audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and realizations on
the life of Rizal.
Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was predictable but I was
really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard work of each character, the efforts

We have this admiration of the work in the West that we watched their films, buy their products,
and eat their food that we sometimes lost our identity on the way. We idolized them too much that
we are blinded that ours is much better than theirs. Jose Rizal was our national hero because he
loved the country. That love drove him to fight. The message of the play was also, fight for our
freedom, fight for what we think is right. So in every decision our government made, we must be
updated as to keep us well informed with what s happening in our society. The play is an eye
opener to every people who turned blind on the injustices and prejudices of our society. As Rizal
once quoted, Ang kabataan ay ang pag asa ng bayan , it is up to us to stand our ground and fight.
Even with the burial of Marcos, students went out and rallied. Teenagers posted about their thoughts
and opinions in the social media, standing up on their own. Rizal placed his trust on us, and it is in
our hands not to put his trust on
The Keynesian School Of Economic Thought
Our economy has evolved from centuries ago to what it is today from the start of supply and
demand and learning how to make trades. The foundations of this learning process has also came
from theories on how to manage and control the economy. This has been built from several thinkers
and theorist implanting their ideas into action and having results in the prosperity or failure of an
economy. As these theories have evolved as well and some with great prosperity they have been
recognized and titled as the Keynesian School of Economic Thought as this is a theory believing
aggregate demand is influenced by public and private economic decisions. There is also the
Monetarism School of Economic Thought which focuses on how the money supply has... Show more

The only thing that really drags down the aggregate demand or GDP would be if the country brought
in more imported goods than anything else. A public decision would be the money that government
programs put into the economy, investing in programs such as education, medical research,
Medicare and other things. In the formula, these variables would be Government spending and
Investment spending. Private decisions are an individual s decisions on where to spend money. In
the formula, this is represented by investment spending and consumption spending. Keynesian
Economics relies on that they believe the government can kickstart the economy by spending money
when in a down period.
Another school of thought is that changes in aggregate demand, whether anticipated or
unanticipated, have their greatest short run effects on real output and employment, not on prices.
John Maynard Keynes said that everything in life is in the short run. The theory believes that just
because something is happening in the short run, may not necessarily mean it will happen in the
long run. He thought the government should get involved when the economy was stagnant to give
it a boost and get it moving again in the short run. They also believe that monetary policy effects,
output and employment only. That makes sense because as the more money that is pumped in, the
more a good needs to be produced and the more goods needing to be produced means the more

Innocence versus Sexual Awakening Essays
Innocence versus Sexual Awakeming The transition from childhood to adulthood is a complex but
universal passage. Both Katherine Mansfield s The Wind Blows and D.H. Lawrence s The Virgin
and the Gipsy embody adolescent angst in their characterization. Matilda and Yvette search for
meaning beyond the lives they perceive they are condemned to lead. Both bring about greater
understanding of the struggle between a young girl s struggle of innocence versus sexuality. In
similar uses of metaphor and imagery the stories tell the tale of social convention, romanticism and
sexual awakening.

The Virgin and the Gipsy is written with little surprise or subtlety in it, as is suggested by the title.

Each of the two girls has a high spirit infused by passion. Neither actually experiences desire
persay but awaken to the idea itself. Yvette dreams of falling violently in love (12) and Matilda
hints at love through heading for the open gate (Mansfield 58). Both seem to imply the context of a
society that pretends desire only occurs on a limited basis within marriage or class structure, for fear
the thought was obscene , (115). Anything outside of that realm of possibility should not be
expressed.

Mansfield implies the passion that Matilda feels for Mr. Bullen with her heart racing and him
waiting for her (55). Matilda feels content upon entrance to her piano teachers home. There is
warmth that overcomes her through the smells and images that surround her senses. Matilda has a
feeling that they know everything about each other (55) which suggests intimacy on her part.
From Mr. Bullens point of view, there is only a portrayal of adult concern as in two instances
Matilda is reminded that she is still a little lady (55). Yvette lay and wishes she were a gypsy (52).
The life of the gipsy is different in every way from her own, she is smitten by him with her
childlike eyes (67) but still paralyzed by the fear of social convention for fear the thought was
obscene (115). The gypsies were most outside the world she was brought up in therefore subject to
her fascination. The dark and handsome gipsy was a fantasy man for Yvette one in
Questions On Deep Learning Technique Essay
1.4.3Deep Learning Technique
Machine Learning at its most basic is the practice of using algorithms to parse data, learn from it,
and then make a determination or prediction about something in the world. So rather than hand
coding software routines with a specific set of instructions to accomplish a particular task, the
machine is trained using large amounts of data and algorithms that give it the ability to learn how to
perform the task [12]. Deep learning is another Machine Learning (ML) algorithm. Deep learning is
essentially a set of techniques that help you to parameterize deep neural network structures, neural
networks with many, many layers and parameters. Deep Learning breaks down tasks in ways that
makes all kinds of machine assists seem possible, even likely. The confusion matrix, in Figure 8
shows that the accuracy of this model is (90.80) with weighted average precision (91.37) greater
than recall (91.11) and F1 score (91.24). From the above results, it appears that Deep Learning
classifier achieve higher accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Figure 11: Clustering accuracy

Poor Mental Health
Introduction Poor mental health represents a significant problem worldwide and in the UK, with
approximately 16% of the population being affected at any given time (Foresight, 2008 and
Department of Health, 2009). This is a particular concern in Scotland where approximately one in
six individuals show signs of poor mental health (Audit Scotland, 2009). Scotland also has
particularly high suicide rates which exceed those for the rest of the UK (Smith Merry et al., 2009
and Mok et al., 2012). In addition to the personal cost to the individual, poor mental health has
significant societal and economic implications, representing a £22.5 billion a year direct cost to the
English economy alone (McCrone et al., 2008). In Scotland, the direct and indirect costs of poor
mental health are estimated to be £10.7 billion (Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH),
2011). Subsequent understanding of what factors have an impact upon mental health at the
individual and societal level is of great importance to future research and intervention.... Show more

The 20th century has been characterised by the movement of populations from rural to urban areas a
phenomenon expressed as urbanisation. For the first time in human history, the world is
predominantly urban, with over half of the population living in towns and cities; this is predicted to
rise to over 6.3 billion by 2050 (Demographia World Urban Areas, 2016). The movement of
populations to urban environments is perhaps the single most significant demographic shift in the
past century. Given the current and projected growth in urban living, research into understanding the
potential impacts of urban versus rural living on individual mental health is becoming increasingly
The Importance Of Teaching In Education
Introduction
Education is about in parting knowledge based on one s belief, truth and justification with the
purpose of surviving in this changing world. Highly educated people are well recognized and given
high reputation in the society. Hence, teaching is a process of sharing information between the
teacher and students in a positive, caring, changing and stress free environment where new
knowledge must be constructed and tested through student teacher interaction using different
strategies so that children could master knowledge and skills of desired fields including values,
ethics, and other social knowledge. To fulfill this purpose, teachers should be active, forward
thinking, energetic, knowledgeable, sincere and punctual for changing one s truth, belief and
justification. To satisfy these educational needs, learning should be a fun mechanism for students in
which they enjoy by responding, interacting, socializing, inventing, sharing, discovering and
deciding about knowledge, skills, values, ethics and discipline by expressing a permanent change
in behaviour. As learning is defined as a permanent change in behaviour, it is teacher s interest to
consider teaching as a personal challenge in which students are diverted to a more progressive
learning environment where they make their own judgment based on what they experience with
exposure to real life like activities. With this as teacher s interest in the field, it is a sensation for
them to focus on the whole child
Women s Role In The Crusades
The time of the Crusades, as stated by Carol Hillenbrand, spans from 1095 when the Pope Urban II
made his famous call to arms, until the fiftieth centuries and even later, although many pinpoint the
fall of Acre in 1091 as the termination of serious Crusader activity (2012 p. 1) and the events that
took place have changed the course of history and altered the political atmosphere of our world.
When reading though Crusade literature to gain insight into this important time in history, both the
Christian and Muslim perspective accounts, it is easy to overlook the role that women played in the
Crusades; however, if one looks deep enough into the labyrinth of history, he or she will discover the
footprints left behind by the women of the crusades.... Show more content on [Link] ...
In the absence of their husband or son, many women were left in charge of the estates that the
husband or son had left behind and some with the burden of financially supporting a relative on
crusade and event taking over their husbands political offices for the duration of the crusade...
examples are the countess of Flanders and Eleanor of Aquitaine (Maier, 2004). As the examples of
women that Jonathan Riley Smith listed, this task proved to require great skill and dedication on
the part of the women (1998, p. 98 99), and often times, as evidenced by the English legal records
of that time, women had to take legal action in order defend these estates and sometimes lost their
lives (as cited in Tyerman 208 217). Clearly, the role that women played on the home front was
necessary and challenging.
Women on the Battlefront
The second category of roles that women played in the crusades are those which occurred on the
battlefield; the roles that this encompasses is not intended to be limited to actual fighting, but
instead to refer to all the roles that those women who came with the crusader army to the East
filled. As Keren Caspi Reisfeld put it some women... engaged in diplomacy that affected the course
of the fighting; others provided moral or physical support to the crusaders on the battle field, the
most daring women... mounted on horses dressed in armor and bearing lances (2002, p. 95).
