Gmo: the Value Versus Growth Dilemma
GMO: The Value Versus Growth Dilemma |
1. What is value investing? What is its rationale? What are GMO s main arguments in favor of value
investing?
Value investing is a way of investing in company stocks that are considered either undervalued or
out of favor by the market. In other word, a value investment is one where the intrinsic value of the
stock is not accurately reflected in the current market valuation. The underlying reason of too much
decreasing in the stock price is that the company may be losing market shares or even in trouble due
to market s panic attributed to negative rumors as well as having management problems. Since the
market price has dramatically descended, the book to market ... Show more content on

As a result, he will increase his retention rate, retain revenue, and also provide an opportunity for
new investors to invest in the trendy growth stock fund. In addition, if GMO invest in growth
stocks, it will increase the diversification of the overall portfolios; which is that when value stocks
are doing well, it will help offset the growth stocks that are performing poorly and vice versa. Most
importantly, GMO must provide adequate knowledge of growth stocks investing to its clients before
allowing them to invest in them. This will prevent future problems, such as clients complaining
about major losses if growth stock crashes one day.
4. Why wouldn t GMO include Cisco Systems, an otherwise excellent company, in its portfolio at
this time? Why is it willing to consider CVS or R.R Donnelley? What are the long term expected
returns for those stocks? Support your answers by examining P/E ratios, price earnings growth
(PEG), and other metrics that may be relevant to the decision.
According to the calculations below in Table 1, we analyze each company with the Book Market (B

year 2003 and 2005 using the LT EPS growth rate.

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Pregnancy Among First Nations...
1. When reviewing Diabetes in pregnancy among First Nations women by Oster, Mayan, and Toth
(2014) for its relevance to nursing/healthcare, the purpose of the study, research questions, and
significance were made very clear. The purpose of the study was to acquire a deeper understanding
of the perspectives held by First Nations women with the intention of discovering more culturally
appropriate interventions to prevent and treat diabetes in pregnancyamong this group (Oster, Mayan,
Toth, 2014). The study is relevant to nursing in that its questions focus on the Aboriginal woman s
lived experience of diabetes in pregnancy and what she believes contributes to a healthy pregnancy
(Oster et al., 2014). At the core of nursing care is... Show more content on [Link] ...
By implementing a person centered approach to care, healthcare providers such as nurses can work
with First Nations women who are pregnant to help them acquire the knowledge necessary to
manage their diabetes and to connect traditional and mainstream health practices that will support
these women to make positive lifestyle changes in attempt to control their diabetes throughout
pregnancy (Oster et al., 2014).
2. After examining the literature review within Oster et al. (2014), both strengths and weaknesses
were observed. Quantitative research was used to explain the inherent difference in health status
among First Nations and non First Nations populations. A measured decrease in the age of
diabetes diagnosis and higher fertility rates among First Nations individuals (Oster et al., 2014)
alluded to the urgency of exploring effective care options for pregnant Aboriginal women with
diabetes in order to mitigate the growing epidemic (p. 1469). The qualitative studies used were also
significant as they identified a disconnect between traditional and Western views to be explored and
bridged in attempt to deliver effective Type two diabetes health care to First Nations people (Oster
et al, 2014). Referencing quantitative and qualitative studies to demonstrate the importance of
identifying culturally appropriate Type two diabetes care for First Nations women who are pregnant
could be seen as a major strength of the
Home Theater Research Paper
When you visit your home theater store in your local area, you ll encounter a wide variety of
ultra technical sounding cable names, such as Mega, Monster, and Uber Cables. The growing
numbers of home theater cable types in boutiques is often a hot topic among technology and home
theater enthusiasts. However, you may ask yourself, how much of a difference does the right
cable actually make? Is it actually worth differentiating between them? In spite of the pitfalls that
tend to pop up as soon as this subject is mentioned, I ll make an attempt to make a valuable
contribution to this matter. The most critical matter to appreciate is that a cable is unable to to
improve upon a home stereo system s sound, just like an electrical wire won t generate more
electricity when you plug the wire into an electric plug socket in a wall. With this being a very
closely related analogy, consider when... Show more content on [Link] ...
Keeping this notion in mind, sense can now be made when you consider that low grade wires are
unable to physically alter the sounds played on your home theater system, stereo, or other device.
Alternatively, the manner in which wires affect home theater or stereo playback is analogous to
a game of telephone , during which the musicians tell the CD a message, the CD conveys this
message to the audio device, the audio device relays this message to the wires, and the wires
convey these previous messages to a home theater or other audio device s speakers, which can
account for sound quality loss each time the sound is conveyed to another subject. Therefore, if the
original message was, Big girls don t cry. , the message that arrives as output might be, I like apple
pie, or what could be an amazing live recording conveyed as distant, tinny, or just not right in some
America s World War II
There is no doubt that America s World War II is a rich source of literature and a theme for many
writers. As result, they wrote many works about war literature, such as novels, poetry, plays,
diaries, and personal narrative. The American Literature was formed by the history of the state
that produced it just like in other nationwide literature. America was just a cluster of colonies
scattered alongside the eastern seaboard of the North American continent for approximately a
century and a half. After they had succeeded in the rebellion against the motherland, it was named
the Unites States (Skipp, pg. 45). The rise of science and industry during all these struggles of
power as well as changes in the ways of thinking and feeling created many alterations in people s
lives. All these factors led to the molding of the American literature. American literature at first
was perceptibly a colonial writing by authors who were Englishmen. American writing began with
the work of the English adventures and the colonists in the new world principally for the interest
of readers in the mother country. The World War II which involved a vast majority of the world s
nations began in 1939 and lasted in 1949 (Meredith, pg. 67). This conflict led to a severe worldwide
economic depression also referred to as The Great Depressionin the decade preceding World War II.
This condition caused many people to search for jobs in America. These concepts had a compelling

Calvin Klein
An American Designer
By
Neera Bann

Calvin Richard Klein was born and raised in New York City s borough of the Bronx. He decided
he wanted to be a fashion designer at an early age, most probably as a result of the influence of his
grandmother. Leo and Flora Klein were his parents. They both worked in the grocery business.
Flora s mother, Molly Stern was an accomplished seamstress. She operated a notions shop and
tailoring business where Calvin spent a lot of time as a child. (Marsh) Calvin attended P.S 80, a
public school that a lot of other famous people attended including Penny and Gary Marshall and
Ralph Lauren. (Marsh) At P.S 80 he excelled in art ... Show more content on [Link] ...

Klein s design philosophy is rooted in minimalism. This is what he is known for. He typically uses
neutral colors or earth tones and designs separates that work in many different ensembles, from day
to night and season to season. At the same time his advertising for jeans and fragrances was being
criticized, Calvin Klein clothing was receiving critical acclaim for its clean, modern lines. (Gaines)
Time magazine named Klein one of the twenty five most influential Americans in 1996. Klein won
the prestigious Coty Award three times in a row (1973 1975), becoming the youngest designer to
ever have that honor. In 1982, 1983, and 1986 he also captured the Council of Fashion Designers of
America Award. In addition Klein built a financially strong company with the continued advice and
help of partner Barry Schwartz, who guided the company through tough financial times in the late
1980s. Few designers have rivaled his worldwide empire. (Gaines)
In late 2002, Calvin Klein, Inc. caught the eye of Phillips Van Heusen Corporation (PVH), a
company looking to acquire a major brand. As the largest shirt maker in the United States, PVH
owned the Van Heusen, IZOD, and G.H Bass brands and had licensing agreements with Geoffrey
Beene, Arrow, DKNY, and Kenneth Cole. Under the leadership of CEO Bruce Klatsky, PVH made
a play for Calvin Klein and eventually won the battle. Under the terms of the deal, Klein

Innocent Voices, explains the 1980s civil war that started in a small country called El Salvador,
through Chava s (Carlos Padilla) eyes. The conflict between the Salvadoran army and the peasants
over their land put Chava s mother (Leonor Varela) under much stress, taking care of his sister and
younger brother through the horror of murder and bloodshed.
Cuscantanzingo was one of the last villages trapped between the guerrilla s and the army.
Chava s life seemed to be at an end, but, was fortunately saved by the rebels, to be taken away to
America to have a good life. The fate of many misfortunate children was set on a path of murder,
warfare, and suffering (CNS Movie Review: Innocent Voices).

These are not adults, just children trying to live their lives, only to be seized by the government
army. Based on a true story, Innocent Voices is a tragic story of a young boy in the 1980s,
growing up in El Salvador. The Salvadorans started fighting between the government troops, it was
a daily life for these people. Chava s father abandoned him and his family, left to take care of his
mother, brother, and sister while they tried to maintain a normal life by day, finding coverage by
