Despite all the similarities these films have, I feel the revenge fantasy in Inglorious Basterds is
more justified than Django Unchained. I agree with Bonilla s point that movies are a reflection
of the time period of which it was made and Django Unchained was intended to serve that role.
Although Django Unchained had a strong anti slavery message, many critics felt the film did not
address the racial issues that are still present in America. The revenge plot in Inglorious Basterds
was unequivocally anti Nazi, with its plethora of burned swastikas and slain Nazi s; Tarantino
