The Moral Of Cinderella
Fairy tales are stories that contain fictional characters like fairies, goblins, talking animals,
unicorns and many other figments of imagination. Fairy tales are usually supposed to depict
some magical land filled with unimaginative wonders but, in the case of the short story titled
Cinderella by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, there is a darker tale that is told. The worst part of it
all is that these vile stories are read to little children who take great joy in such stories.
Furthermore, kids could potentially recreate a negative reality of the way they view life and not
realize the moral that is being taught in the story. Fairy tales are not always rainbows and green
pastures as seen in the short story of Cinderella. The story tells the tale of a misfortunate daughter
who is neglected by her evil stepmother, stepsisters, and father. Before the mistreatment
Cinderella s mother passes away and is left to live with her father. Cinderella mourned her mother
s death all winter long and when the spring arrived her father soon found another wife. This new
wife did not come alone as she was accompanied by two daughters. The daughters were described
as beautiful women with wicked hearts. At the time of their arrival things went downhill for
Cinderella, the stepsisters labeled her as a kitchen maid and replaced her elegant garments with
peasantry clothing. The stepsisters treated Cinderella very poorly and she faced constant torment
from them. To demonstrate the cruel treatment the stepsisters decide to scatter peas and lentils
into the ashes for her, in result she had to separate the vegetables from the ashes. That was not the
only unfair act committed against Cinderella by her evil stepsisters. When the day was over and
exhausted Cinderella went to rest her head she unwillingly slept on floor of the fireplace in the
ashes. She was stripped of her basic necessities such as a bed and some decent clothes to wear.
Cinderella is forced into doing labor around the house and is never able to take part in any of the
familyoutings. When her father declares that there will be a festival she attends despite her family
saying no. She is aided by two singing birds that assist her with getting proper attire for the
The Negative Influences Of Procrastination
Negative Influences of Procrastination We ve all had a paper due on a Wednesday that we had
known about for the past two weeks, but for some unknown and involuntary reason, we choose to
save it for a Tuesday evening, which turns into a Wednesday morning as we frantically work to
finish an assignment we probably could have finished in class over a couple of days. We may
have been preoccupied those couple of weeks, with a job, or sports; maybe even putting together
a fundraiser of some sort. Or maybe, we haven t been busy at all, and have chosen to go home
after class and eat rice cakes and watch Netflix all afternoon, into the evening, and continuously tell
ourselves I ll get it done tomorrow. Many of us have a habit of making nearly every important task,
(whether it be homework, paying a bill, making a phone call, or even booking a trip) an oh, I ll do
that tomorrow type of job. What most of us realize, but choose to ignore, is that continuously putting
of these duties of ours will not only have negative consequences on the result of the job that needs to
be done, but on our mental physical and mental health as well. People may have excuses for leaving
things to the last minute, but the hard truth that they need to accept is that they are a habitual
procrastinator. It is imperative that we understand that procrastinationwill (eventually, if not
immediately) have effects on our lives, from downward spirals in our happiness and personal
satisfaction, to destroying our
The Importance of Literary Devices in The Seven Ages of...
All the world s a stage the men and women merely players . This line is the beginning of the The
Seven Ages of Man and is a recurring question throughout the poem. You may wonder how the world
is stage, and through his use of similes, metaphors, and imagery Shakespeare explains this elaborates
on this question.
William Shakespeare s use of similes in the Seven Ages of Man helps to start the poem and give it a
meaning early on by adding emphasis on certain topics. For example in the beginning he uses the
men and women merely players (Line 2) to explain that people don t own the world but live in it.
By using this simile he explains how people progress through life like a play, making an entrance to
the stage and leaving afterwards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore Shakespeare compares The Last Age to childishness and oblivion meaning that
after you have gone through all the stages everything you have built up demolishes and you start
back at the first stage. The last line of the poem helps you to determine how the play ends and
because this comparison is made it makes you aware of people in your life that have gone
through a few of the stages described by Shakespeare. Giving you the idea that the stages may
occur in your life but in the end it really doesn t matter what you have done, because it will most
likely be destroyed. The idea that what you have developed will be demolished makes you wonder
what you are doing and have done with your life.
Imagery is prominent in The Seven Ages of Man and is used to give meaning to a line or phrase
meaning while creating complex images. When Shakespeare describes the boy as a creeping
snail and sighing like a furnace you can image a drowsy boy who is on his way to school, but
when described as having a shining morning face it gives you a completely different idea. By
placing two differential images close together Shakespeare creates two separate moods in a few
lines, which helps to determine the difference between two phases. Later on in the poem he uses
the same strategy and says the man is bearded like a pard , portraying the image of a slightly older
man who has moved on from the childish phase of the young schoolboy. He also says he
The Cap And Trade Program
A cap and trade program sets a maximum level of pollution, and distributes emission permits
among firms that produce emissions (Carbon Tax, 2013). The purpose of which is regulation of
specific emissions by stationary and mobile sources, and setting a specific level which all
emitters are re quired to meet. Cap and trade possibly has less of a direct economic component to
it than the other alternatives to reducing emissions described due to the ability to trade permits
versus the expendi ture of resources improving technology, with some arguing it is to the detriment
of the environment. As stated in the article found in Reclaiming the Environmental Agenda, by
Ashford, N. et al., 2008, being a market based instrument, the cap and trade option suggests that at
least this form of MBI may be more environmentally effective than the usual command and control
alternatives, in addition to being more economically efficient. (Ashford, N. and Caldart, C., 2008,
p. 908). Charles Frank states in his article, at least with cap and trade it sets the allowable quantity
of emissions and has the advantage of making clear, through a market price for emissions, the
actual costs of a stipulated quantity of reductions (Frank, C., 2014). This could be viewed as a way
to at least know what amount of emission should be expected depending on the emitter, therefore
being better able to be controlled. It could be said that it is harder to administer cap and trade
because the EPA must set
New York City Water Supply Systems
HISTROY OF NEW YORK CITY WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS
Historical Overview
Between the 1840s and the 1960s, New York City established the greatest metropolitan water
distribution system internationally. Even though NYC s Water system is a work in progress it can
be considered one of the best in respects to its quality, reliability and innovative management.
At the beginning of the 19th Century, most American cities were small in size and usually coastal.
Their infrastructure was primitive even by the standards of that time period. Street lighting was
rare, roads were unpaved, and water supplies were really inadequate. The water surrounding NYC
was tidal and mostly saltwater. They had no direct access to fresh water. Initially, Residents
depended on wells or rain water cisterns for their water needs. External wastes contaminated the
water aquifers. Rain water did not help increase the main supply. Flush toilets were introduced to the
city in 1819 that increased the need for water usage. (Weidner, 1974, p. 55)
The establishment of city water supply was regarded as a private, residential matter rather than a
public function in the early 19th Century (Blake, 1956). The State depended on privately owned
companies to supply water for its residents rather than undertaking the responsibilities themselves.
The Manhattan Water Company was chartered in 1799. They had the sole rights to supply water to
the city. They had a reservoir built in the city to provide over 400 of NYC most elite
Troilus and Cressida Commentary
Act I, Scene III of Troilus and Cressida by Shakespeare features members from the Greek army.
From lines 22 to 54, Nestor further applies a previous speech by Agamemnon. The condition of
the Greek army is stressed, as the war is not going the way the Greeks would like. This is a dire
situation in the Greek camp, and these speeches aim to rally the troops to fight back in this war
with the Trojans. This excerpt is significant in that there is a good use of literary techniques to
demonstrate the importance of the war, and key themes are portrayed in this passage. In Troilus and
Cressida, Shakespeare expresses the importance of themes of order and struggle through the use of
literary devices such as metaphors, word choice, tone, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Fate was a significant theme in the play, and the use of capitalization illustrated this importance.
This passage is conveyed with a somber tone to get across the point that what the Greeks and
Trojans were faced with was in fact an important situation. In the midst of war, it was vital for the
soldiers to have a serious attitude. This is demonstrated when Nestor says Doth valor s show and
valor s worth divide. (I:III: 46) This statement has a great meaning in that it indicates that
courageous looks and courageous actions are different in times of struggle. In essence, he is
saying that it does not matter for one to look brave, if his actions do not display audacity. The war
was not something to take loosely, and to simply look like a smart soldier means nothing without
the action to back it up. The tone used in the excerpt goes along with the feeling of the war, and
therefore the entire play, as the characters constantly had to take what they were given and rise
above it, overcoming adversity. Shakespeare s incorporation of varying perspectives in this excerpt
has an added meaning of how different people can convey the same idea in different ways.
Following the speech given by Agamemnon, which was pretty much straightforward, Nestor
illustrated the same ideas in more figurative terms. It is important to see Nestor s interpretation of
these words,
The Effects Of Hormones On Social Behavior Essay
INTRODUCTION Oxytocin is a natural hormone produced by the hypothalamus that is used as a
medication during childbirth to induce or speed up labor. But scientists noticed that in non human
mammals, intranasal administration of oxytocin seemed to promote positive social behavior,
traditionally good social forces like trust and cooperation; for this reason came about the study of
oxytocin s effects on social behavior in humans. Positive social behavior is instrumental in our
everyday interactions, and especially can have important consequences in business, where
individuals make decisions often about the well being of their groups . Many experiments were
performed dedicated to understanding oxytocin s effects on positive social behavior, and the
hormone took on the moniker of the love drug or cuddle chemical. This positive social behavior,
stronger bonds of trust within the members of a group, was coined in group favoritism in De Dreu
et al. (2011); negative social behavior, or the tendency towards prejudice, was labeled out group
derogation.
However, researchers in the fields of neuroscience and psychology questioned the overwhelmingly
positive research, coupled with the knowledge that there has been no proof of a hormone with
universally positive effects. It was logically flawed to declare that oxytocin was a good hormone, as
most of the studies in the field thus far were only to measure positive outcomes instead of outcomes
that may not be desired. They suggested,

The Oppression Of Women
Historically, men have been considered the only sex and women, the Other, and as a result, men s
views and opinions have created myths of what women in society are expected to conform to and
exhibit. Many of the expectations developed are restrictive and oppressive to women. One such
expectation that men have developed and perpetuated is that a womanexists to fulfill his sexual
needs. Man is the superior being and his ideal woman is one that will unquestionably submit to his
domination (Beauvoir 201). In addition, men s domination over women, places women in a state of
dependence. Women are largely reliant on men for economic necessities and security. However,
women s reliance on men, leaves them vulnerable to male s oppression on them.... Show more

Fantastic expectations are incredibly oppressive, but so is reality. Women are virtually guaranteed to
be oppressed in every facet of reality because of male s overwhelming dominance, but women hold
some responsibility in society s ability to ensure that masculine dominance and feminine subjectivity
continues to persist. Women enable societally oppressive attitudes toward them as they accept their
position as the Other through submission and justification (Beauvoir). Therefore, men are not only
to blame for women s oppression. Women have been subjected to such oppression, domination, and
apparent lack of agency because in society, both men and women have justified its existences. This
has enabled man to continually shape women s perspective, a perspective that they are inferior, they
exist to please, and that they are the Other sex (193). Women reason that there is a purpose behind
their position in society and in many ways, work relentlessly to conform to what man has deemed
appropriate rather than revolting and attempting to combat such oppression. Not all women are
guilty of such subservience, in fact, historically many have attempted to rebel and attempt to
delegitimize male s superiority yet, all have been met with male oppression and halted. Small gains
have been made giving women more fluidity within society, but women are still limited in numerous
ways. However, such gains act to threaten what society has deemed appropriate

Abstract: Nowadays for each and every designing in VLSI era the power consumption plays a vital
role. Low power has emerged as a principal theme in today s electronics industry. The low power
VLSI design has important role in designing of many electronic design systems. On designing any
combinational or sequential circuits, the power consumption, implementation area, voltage leakage,
and efficiency of the circuit are the important parameters to be considered initially. This paper
proposes a low power and area efficient shift register using pulsed latches. The area and power
consumption are reduced by replacing flip flops with pulsed latches. This method solves the timing
problem between pulsed latches through the use of multiple non overlap delayed pulsed clock
signals instead of the conventional single pulsed clock signal. The shift register uses a small number
of the pulsed clock signals by grouping the latches to several sub
