The Marine Corps Boot Camp
November 10th 1775, the United States Marine Corps was born in Tun Tavern in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. The most elite military branch was founded in a bar! Since then the Marine Corps
has done two things; ake Marines, and win battles. Today, the Marine Corps boot camp training
program is among the most difficult, 13 week transformation to turn young, proud American men
and women into elite warriors. Along with being the most difficult boot camp, the Marines is the
only branch of the military that you have to earn the title, to be called a United States Marine.
Once you graduate and survive the basic training, no other branch can say, I am a Marine . It does
not work with the Army, Navy, or Air Force. There is a significate... Show more content on

Hydrochloric Acid And Chalk Experiment
The effect of concentration of rate of reaction
Aim:
To examine how the concentration of hydrochloric acid affects the rate at which it reacts with chalk.
Background:
Chemical reactions are significant in our everyday lives. Combustion reactions help release energy
to heat our homes and move our vehicles, oxidation reduction reactions keep the batteries in our cell
phones and laptops functioning and acid base reactions take place when cleaning your oven. Not all
reactions happen at the same speed. The speed at which a chemical reaction proceeds is known as the
rate of reaction. Chemical reactions that proceed quickly, including explosion and combustion
reactions are said to have a fast rate of reaction. Chemical reactions that proceed slowly, ... Show

As the concentration was increased, from 0.5 M, to 1.0 M, to 1.25 M hydrochloric acid, the time
taken for 50mL of carbon dioxide to be produced significantly decreased, and from 0.5 M to 1.25 M
it decreased by around 12 seconds.
The original plan for this experiment included testing 2.0 M hydrochloric acid. We tried using
this concentration twice, and in the first time the reaction happened so quickly the products
started spilling out of the test tube before we could put the rubber stopper on, which resulted in
the time taken for 50mL of gas to be produced in the inverted test tube to actually take longer. The
result for this trial was 38 seconds. The second time we tried using 2.0 M hydrochloric acid the
rubber stopper was placed on the test tube in time, however the time recorded for 50mL of gas to
be produced in the inverted test tube was still slower than results from less concentrated acid,
taking 25.29 seconds. This was due to some gas still escaping through the top of the test tube, as
well as the rate reaction being too quick for the gas to travel through the connecting tube. We solved
this problem by using 1.25 M hydrochloric instead for the third concentration after 0.5 M and 1.0 M.
The results from the 1.25 M supported the hypothesis, as the rate of reaction was faster than the
previous trials with less concentrated

Unit 8 Essay

In many stories and movies a person might see the world from a point of view but in the play A Jury
Of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell we see the story from a third person point of view objective. Which
means that the reader can not hear the thoughts or emotions of the characters involved, the reader is
left to their own interpretation of how each person feels in the story. But is it the best point of view
for writing?

In most plays like Trifles the audience has no idea what the characters are feeling and the must
assume this charcer feels a specific way, thus making the audience piece together whether or not
the character feels this way or not. In third person limited the audience is given only the thoughts
of a few characters, being given more information about what or how everyone feels, while at the
same time giving them a better understanding of the story or plot. In this way of writing the reader
would be more involved with the story or at least more informed in this way of writing. But in the
play it s told in third person objective and the readers view depends entirely on the actions of the
people in the play. ... Show more content on [Link] ...

Jesus Is The Name Of The Word
Jesus is the name we often used in English translation but comes from the Latin form of the Greek
name Joshua. The name also related to the Hebrew verb root and its noun forms Yesua, which means
deliver. The name is also related to the Old Testament term YHWH saves.
Therefore, the exact term Savior appears first, and is spoken by the Samaritans in John 4:42. The
title Nazarene applied to Jesus has been also used to describe Christians in Syria and Arabic
traditions. Although some of the terms and titles referring to Jesus in both New and Old Testament
have deeper meaning such as: Emmanuel, Lord, Messiah and son of man.

The Gospel of Matthew provides the name Emmanuel, which is taken from Isaiah 7:14, where it
refers to another child born ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The birth of Jesus, on the other hand, counterbalanced the fall of Adam, bringing forth redemption
and repairing the damage done by Adam.
The theme is reiterated by Paul, in Romans 5:18 21, when he states:
Therefore just as one man s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man s act of righteousness
leads to justification and life for all. For just as by the one man s disobedience the many were made
sinners, so by the one man s obedience the many will be made righteous. But law came in, with the
result that the trespass multiplied; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, just
as sin exercised dominion in death, so grace might also exercise dominion through justification*
leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Second of all, Jesus referring as lord is the ultimate reason that I put on my faith and surround my
life to him. Early Christians viewed Jesus as the Lord which mean God, lord or master appears
over 700 times in the New Testament, referring to him. In Greek this has at times been translated
as Kyrios. While the term Mari expressed the relationship between Jesus and his disciples during
his life, the Greek Kyrios came to represent his lordship over the world. According to Romans 10:9
13 Paul emphasized the value of the title, and stated that confessing by mouth and belief that Jesus
is Lord you will be save which signifies
The Importance Of Locus Of Control In College Students
Locus of Control determines how well someone does on life and successful in life. How someone
achieves their goals and how their grades are, how much someone studies. The two types of locus
of control are external and internal. If you have a more internal locus of control you are most likely
to be more successful than people with an external locus of controlare. IF someone with an external
locus of control gets bad grades with D s and F s and if someone with an internal locus of control
gets great grades with A s and B s. The person with A s and B s are more likely to advance to the

Even a first person shooter requires a good deal of critical thinking and strategy, rather than just
aim and shoot. The skills polished by playing games can actually translate well into the real world

cognitive benefits of video games? II. A. Video games improve cognitive attention and vigilance.
Green Bavelier (2012) found that action video gaming improved performance on the ability to
locate, quickly, a target stimulus in a field of distractors, a test that has been found to be a good
predictor of driving ability. B. Video games are also recognized to improve multitasking and

Nietzsche Genealogy Of Morals
What are morals? Are they a certain thing that have to be done or a thing that is learned? Are they
going to be something that we use in good or bad times? According to the dictionary morals is
defined as relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction
between right and wrong. Simply this means that your right of conduct is ethical. It is also stated
that morals are founded on the fundamental principles of right conduct rather than legalities or
custom. So what is Nietzsche: Genealogy of Morals going to tell us about these morals that will
show us that what we do is more about those humanly principles rather than legal principle?

Nietzsche: Genealogy of Morals is consisted of 3 essays about morals. I will be talking and
summarizing the first essay that he wrote for the Genealogy of Morals. Nietzsche expresses his
dissatisfaction with certain English psychologists. He s not too happy with them because they try to
explain the origin or morality and claim to be historians of such but they do not have the historical
spirit. He states that their theories are suggestive to the fact people use to benefit from unegoistic
actions of others. These same genealogists suggest that we have gone away from this type of
morality and truly forgot all about ourselves. As the readings continue it is determined that
Nietzsche does not agree with this because those who say goodness was shown could not and did
not define good. People only see

Facilitating Developmental Attachment is a book about the theory behind and a treatment for
attachment disorder, focusing on children who have been fostered or adopted due to abuse or
neglect. Daniel Hughes gives a detailed therapy plan of how to help these particular children begin
to form the secure attachment that is crucial to living a fulfilling life.
All children, at the core of their beings, need to be attached to someone who considers them to be
very special and who is committed to providing for their ongoing care. In this very first sentence
Daniel Hughes expresses the importance of attachment in children in order for them to live rich and
fulfilling lives. He outlines the issues surrounding the poorly attached child (particularly foster and
adopted children) and shows how it is possible, using specific therapeutic interventions, to help them
to heal and grow .
He begins by giving a detailed explanation of how foster and adopted children s unique problems
make it difficult for them to create new significant relationships. As a consequence of abuse or
neglect they have not been given the opportunity to form a meaningful and secure attachment
Compare And Contrast Education Reform
An educational system is a means to develop a workforce, to improve the socioeconomic status of
the poor via social mobility, and to create a shared culture. Given these important roles, educational
systems are targets for social reformers. Joseph Lancaster and Arne Duncan were both education
reformers with strong and influential ideas about what and how students are taught. Lancaster was a
London schoolmaster and eventual leader of the Monitorial educationreform movement in the early
1800s. Duncan was the US Secretary of Education from 2009 2015, and led an era of active federal
education reform. In comparing and contrasting these two educational reformers from the past and
present, there are more similarities than differences.... Show more content on [Link] ...
Recent United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was still trying to accomplish the same
goal. In Lancaster s book Improvements in Education he argues people should invest money into
the education of the poor. Why then so eager in the pursuit of riches? and why not rather pay that
attention to the infant poor, which their wants requires? (Improvements in Education). This line
demonstrates that Lancaster believes people should put money towards the education of the poor
so that they can have a chance to better their place in society. Lancaster tried to lower the cost of
education by developing the monitorial system of education which uses less teachers and so
lowers salary costs. This is similar to Arne Duncan s emphasis on investing more money into
education and in managing costs. At the end of his term, The Washington Post reported his agency
directed $100 billion in stimulus funds to districts small and large that were otherwise facing
severe job cuts in the wake of the 2008 recession. The move preserved an estimated 350,000
teaching jobs. In his speeches, Duncan said that states and institutions of higher education will need
to meet us halfway in doing more to keep college costs down and boost completion . This statement
made by Duncan shows that both he and Lancaster have similar ideas on the cost of education, they
both believe that education was a social investment and that the cost of education should be lowered
so poorer people can
