Artificial Heart Research Paper
Over the past 50 years there has been many great inventions especially in the healthcare field. I feel
the most important is the Artificial Heart that was invented in 1982. In the United States heart
disease is the number one cause of death. The artificial heart is a prosthetic device that is implanted
into the chest cavity to replace the heart. The device is bigger and heavier than the adult human
heart. Artificial hearts help patients regain their health and get ready for a transplant. The artificial
heart can be a temporary structure that is places till that patient receives a heart transplant. That time
also allows to regain their health before their transplant. In the United States there is a shortage of
donor hearts. Around 4,00 people
Threat Of Best Buy Essay
An economic threat of Best Buy is the threat of online retailers like Amazon. Best Buy is increasing
its online sales and remaining competitive. Amazon has become very popular with consumers
because of the convenience of ordering products right from their own living rooms and having it
delivered sometimes within an hour. This makes it hard for Best Buyto compete because they cannot
offer that same experience and expedited shipping. They are trying to compete with fast online store
pick up that is quick and easy.
Another threat to Best Buy are large box stores like Walmart that create an all in one, grab and go
experience for the customers. In today s society consumers are doing what is easy. It is easiest and
faster to go to a super Walmart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

D.Technological
A technological opportunity for Best Buy is the increased releases of new models of smartphones
like Apple and Android. Those products increased interest therefor increase sales by consumers.
Another opportunity is the demand for the latest and greatest electronic products by the population
of consumers.
A threat for Best Buy would be hat the new generation of consumers seem to prefer online shopping
for electronics rather than visiting a brick and mortar store.
Another technological threat to Best Buy is the Digital delivery of media which includes movies
and video games and less number of consumers purchasing hard copies.

E.Political/Legal
One legal threat that best buy faced in 2005 was an employee discrimination suit against women.
Since then they have revamped its policies and added enhancement of its employee relationships.
They even focused on women in leadership positions and held a group that actively participated in
community events and focused on women
Disadvantages Of Salting
Initially created as a response to the decline in union membership, salting is a program where union
members are encouraged by their union to seek employment at a non union company. Once the
individual(s) are hired, they begin to promote unionization. Their union may provide them with a
union wage in addition to their regular rate of pay. There are three different types of salting. The
first is in cases where union jobs are not available. When this occurs, union members are encouraged
to look for employment at nonunion companies and on their own time. They are also encouraged to
speak to the benefits of unionization with their fellow coworkers. Union members, in these cases, are
not compensated by the union. The second type of salting

Preventing the Influenza Virus in School aged Children

Tracy Bell
Community College of Baltimore County

Children rely on the decisions that are made by responsible individuals in their lives including
parents, caretakers, and other authorities such as teachers. Because children depend on others so
heavily, health issues that affect children such as contracting the influenza virus or the flu should be
discussed with the adults in their lives. Every year a new strain of the influenza virus affects the
health of school aged children causing a potential health risk to themselves and others around them.
The spread of the influenza virus in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way to help stop the spread of the influenza virus is through receiving yearly vaccinations.
Every year through predictions, a group of scientists help drug companies develop vaccines for
the approaching influenza season (Surviving the flu season, 2016). Due to the importance of
receiving the vaccine there should be a plan in place that makes this vaccine more accessible to
all individuals especially the younger population. A start could be partnering with the local
medical community to initiate school vaccination programs. Having a nationwide program
advocate for kids that do not have a primary doctors, insurance, or means or transportation to get
to a clinic to be vaccinated would be highly beneficial. School based health clinics can be
successful because kids are already in one central location around ninety two to ninety eight percent
are in attendance at school on average (Herbert, Gargano, Painter, Sales, Morfaw, Murray,
DiClemente, Hughes, 2013). In addition, having kids get vaccinated at the same time could prevent
influenza cases, and decrease medical care cost for families. School age kids also remain carriers of
the virus for an extended period of time, therefore targeting school aged kids is critical to helping
minimize the spread of the influenza virus in the community (Herbert et al., 2013). Additionally,
having all students vaccinated can minimize the severity
For the Love of God Please Ban Zero Day Exploits
There is an interesting discussion going on revolving around privacy experts, and security
professional surrounding the use, and abuse of 0day exploits. Some of the talk comes
surrounding a Bloomberg article titled: US Contractors Scale Up Search for Heartbleed Like
Flaws [1] The argument on the side of privacy / legal/ crypto experts (summarized) seems to be
we need to stop because it will get into the wrong hands [2] People are going to use it for the
wrong reasons. Which is true to a degree but on a grand scale one of the most absurd things I
have read in some time. No law pertaining to say guns, ever stopped a criminal from obtaining and
using a gun. While one could argue the role of minimization of the usage of guns, I could argue
back, the criminals could shift to using a knife, a knitting needle, a steak bone to inflict harm.
The same can, and will likely apply to trying to stop the sale of 0day exploits. Let s be blunt about
it the zero day market. There are ONLY two real procurers of zero day exploits: government and
criminals. Criminalizing the sale of zero days is NOT going to stop the criminals, they re already
underground doing what they do. Governments? Governments will do whatever they want. You can
trick yourself into thinking they would stop if there were laws against it however, you d be naive
to think that some form of national security classification won t be slapped on the research, and the
projects will move forward. Sort of akin to biological

1. Which characters base their decisions on prejudice?

Juror number 4 based his decision based on the fact that the boy on trial grew up in the slum.
Juror number 4 said, He was born in a slum. The slum is a breeding ground for criminals. I know it
and so do you. It s no secret that children from slum backgrounds are menaces to society. While
Juror number ten just doesn t like the boy bases on his race. Throughout the entire movie, he referred

Juror number two was timid when it came to speaking his mind. At the beginning, he agreed with
everyone else and voted guilty. But after a while, he was able to speak against the others and
changed his vote to not guilty. Juror number three is rude, stubborn, loud, straightforward, and
unmannered. He was extremely hard headed when it came to this case and he made himself
strongly believe that the boy was guilty until the very end. Juror number four was extremely
logical when it came to this case. Every time he spoke, he would base things on the facts rather
than the what ifs . Both jurors numbers five and six were more like observers and kept an open
mind to things. But juror number six had respect for his elders because when juror number 3
interrupted juror number 9, he stood up for him and asked for him to continue speaking. They talked
only when they thought necessary or when spoken to. Juror number seven
6. How would you have voted if you were on the jury?
If I we on the jury, I would have voted guilty at first. But as time went on, and the events happened
as they did, I would have changed my vote sometime after seeing that it would have taken the old
man a total of 41 seconds to get to the door.
7. How does the twelve angry men demonstrate the weaknesses of the jury system?
It demonstrates that most people put their personal feelings when it comes to trials like these. Even

A Reflection on the Tools Used in the Assessment of Pain...
A reflection on the tools used in the assessment of pain in the elderly
Pain is a phenomenon which is defined as an unpleasant as well as emotional experience is a very
common phenomenon in older adults. The level of pain in adults should therefore be controlled at
levels that are acceptable to these patients in order to allow them to maintain their optimal level of
performance as possible. Pain is however not a normal part of the aging process and it is associated
with various chronic (such as osteoarthritis) as well as acute (such as surgery and cancer) conditions.
I my view as well as the view of the evidence based academic literature, pain is a common and yet
subjective experience for several older adults and despite its prevalence, the existing body of
evidence suggests that it is poorly assessed and managed in the older patients. The cognitive
impairment as a consequence of delirium and dementia represents a big challenge to the
management of pain in older adults since they render these patients unable to verbalize the level of
their pain. It is therefore the responsibility of us the Nurses as an integral element of a larger
interdisciplinary care team to comprehend the myths that are associated with the management of
pain as well as use the right tools in the assessment of the nature of pain being experienced by the
older adults. In the next few paragraphs, I present my views of the four main tools of assessing pain
the older adults. These include the Revised Faces
Iberian Ascendancy In The Age Of Discovery
Iberian Ascendancy in the Age of Discovery
At the dawn of the 1400s, a series of fortunate events conveniently coalesced to perfectly set the
stage for a new era of European exploration. Innovative technology allowing sailing on the open
ocean was invented in an age where trade access to luxury goods from the Far East was becoming
ever more limited. A highly motivated, powerful man was born as religious fervor was being
redirected. Successes close to home incited a widespread fervor to explore further. All of these
relatively unrelated occurrences united into an opportunity for certain European nations to achieve
an unprecedented feat sailing the Atlantic Ocean and create an empire. In order to advance their
goals, the Iberian powers combined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the overcoming of the obstacles to this advancement including pervasive myths, uncharted
nautical territory, jealous rivals, a comparatively small population, and very little agricultural
wealth to capitalize on Prince Henry became the creator of the legacy of the Asian arm of the
Portuguese empire. By his death in 1460, Prince Henry had left Portugal as the top power of the
seas and abroad with the best maritime knowledge and an abundant amount of forts allowing direct
access to the riches of both Africa and India (Ames, 25 26). Further progress quickly followed,
including the rounding of the Cape of Good Hope by Bartolomeu Dias; the signing of the Treaty of
Tordesillas, granting Portugal sole control over the land and sea to the east of the line of demarcation
cutting through South America; and Vasco da Gama s triumphant voyage to India and back via the
Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Taken together, these events prove that Portugal had found a successful
route to the profitable Indian spice trade that cut out the middlemen. Furthermore, following da
Gama s return, the Portuguese monarch took his success as a sign from God that Portugal was
meant to establish their control over those parts of Asia and spread the true faith to its inhabitants,
inciting a second flurry of voyages
Vladimir Putin Chapter 1 Summary
Summary: Chapters 3 4 Vladimir Putin s move from St. Petersburg to Moscow signaled the
beginning of the Putin era. Throughout his time in the KGB and as first deputy mayor of St.
Petersburg, he was rarely ever seen as a man of high honor and prestige. His positions included
advancing the agendas of those around him, but he rarely ever aimed to advance his own career.
Despite this lack of ambition, Putin s admirable personality traits and various political connections
led to his accelerated rise to power. Upon being officially inaugurated on May 7, 2000, Putin s
boldness and authority acted as a saving grace for Russiaand its people. Throughout the 1990s, the
state of Russia s economy, politics, and society as a whole was in constant turmoil and disarray.
President Yeltsin campaigned on the basis of drastic economic change that would transform Russia
from a bleak totalitarian past to a bright and promising democratic future. In order to fight the
stagflation caused by the Soviet s command economy, Yeltsin enacted measures of shock therapy to
slowly reconstruct the failing economy. These measures included removing government price
controls on numerous products, lifting wage controls on various jobs, cutting military spending to
spare the budget deficit, and handing out vouchers to citizens in an effort to... Show more content on

His intentions were true, but his execution resulted in extreme poverty, inflation soaring 20 30
percent per month, incredibly high unemployment, plummeting GDP, and an overall tumultuous
period of suffering for Russia and its people. Putin remained out of the political scene for much of
this chaotic time; that is until he got summoned to Moscow in 1996 and involved himself in Kremlin
politics. Yeltsin, immediately impressed with his professional mannerism, vast knowledge of facts,
and unbreakable loyalty, appointed Putin to deal with Russia s most pressing issue at the
American Red Cross Mission Statement Analysis
The American Red Cross is an organization that provides disaster relief for communities as well as
supporting military families, health education, and giving blood to people that could potentially
save their life. The American Red Cross was founded by a woman names Clara Barton on March
21st 1881. When the American Red Crosswas first established they utilized life boats, donated
clothing, and medical supplies for families who have been devastated by disasters such as floods,
disease, tornados etc. Later after World War II, the American Red Cross then began to collect blood
donations to give to patients who had lost mass amounts of blood and in today s society the
American Red Cross supplies 40% of the blood product in the United States(A brief history of the
American Red Cross, 2014). The American Red Cross is governed by the Board of Governors who

The principles that the American Red Cross strive to work by are humanity, impartiality,
neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality (Governance, 2014). These
statements are what make being a member of this organization beneficial. A person who desires
to help others should live by these principles as well. This means that they re purpose is to help
the person who is in need to the best of their ability and make the person they are helping feel safe

Should Gun Laws Provide More Safety In Schools
Should gun laws get changed and schools provide more safety for their kids? My topic is
important because I think if people would read this and listen to what I have to say about why
there should be stricter gun laws and schools should provide more safety for kids that there would
be a change in some things. First off I will explain why schools should have more protection. One
thing that could change is if we had security at the doors of school. I know having security might
cost a lot but there are retired vets out there that would probably do it for free if it means to keep our
kids safe.

Why do we need stricter gun laws and for schools to provide more safety for their kids? Why we
need stricter gun laws is because guns are getting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My opinion on some gun laws is that they need to be changed. In Indiana there is no license
required to carry a rifle or shot gun which is pretty dumb in my opinion. I think you should have
to have a license to carry it and a license for hunting. If your not a hunter or a police officer or
someone who works in like the police force you should not be able to have any big guns like that.
I also feel like you should be 21 before you can get a gun like that. In the article Indiana gun laws:
What you need to know states that there is a red flag law and only 5 states California, Connecticut,
Oregon, Washington and Indiana use it. The law is meant to temporary strict someone s access to

Sociology In Sociology
According to Durkheim, Social fact or social phenomenon are the main subject matter of
sociology. He said in one of his pieces that social fact must be studied distinct from the biological
and psychological phenomenon. Social order is the trend of behavior being used to exercise power
over another person. It has become rules and regulations that have been set up by some authorities
to be obeyed by another group of people who are being undermined in a society, it is a situation that
oppressed people and limits them from their liberties. When people go through these situations they
cannot function the way they are supposed to function because they are limited by their freedom.
These social orders are not only laws but rather certain norms created by the authority to put a whole
raceinto a situation where they are very far from freedom of speech, movement, and knowledge.
African Americans are an example of a race that has been through discrimination at workplaces,
schools, community etc. They are one race which has been a label or put in a class where the
situation will never permit you to climb the ladder of success. Although you might have all the
certification, qualification, the best schools, etc. but the fact that you came from the poor class or
the lower class, it becomes very difficult for the Caucasian people to give you the opportunity you
deserve, because of this, the citizens of American have been grouped into different classes which are
upper, middle, working,
