This week s reading discussed a variety of topics such as web based learning, identified and
explored web based learning activities and how to be faithful servants of God. In chapter eight of
our text book we looked at characteristics of four online module, how to select tools and strategies
to build an online course, and procedures for developing an effective online course. The first article
discussed web 2.0 technology specifically Wikki s and how they are being used in the classroom.
The second article looked at the difference in information searching environments and how it affects

The second article was published in the British Journal of Educational Technology and discussed the
effects of using selected network resources in web based problem solving. This research targeted a
senior high school computer class and attempted to compare the effects of using selected and open
network resources on students intentions about their information system usage by means of
technology acceptance model (TAM) questionnaires and learning effectiveness by analysis of
covariance of tests in web based problem solving activities (Hsu, 2013). The activities used in this
research project allowed students to learn from the total process of problem solving. All of these
activities were student centered and not teacher centered. The subjects of this research project
were measured on the basis of pre and post test design in which each test was composed of fifteen
multiple choice question(Hsu, 2012)s . The control group was the open source group and the
experimental group was the selected resource group. At the end of the research project each student
completed a questionnaire(Hsu, 2012).The results of this research project show that the lower and
mid ability students greatly benefited from this selected resource learning process and the advanced
learners benefited more from the open network resources. This research also showed that digital
library s and digital learning centers that contain updated and correct data bases for learners were

The Photos Hassan stood there, starring at the Baroque façade of the house. Today was the day. He

John Carver Following The Mayflower Compact
Following the creation of the Mayflower compact, John Carver was the first elected governor of
Plymouth. However, he died during the first winter and was succeeded by William Bradford. He
was elected in 1621 and served for over eleven years in total. The colony was able to survive and
become self sufficient for numerous years. However, by the 1640s, Plymouth s fur trade had
dissipated and they became increasingly more of a theocracy. In an attempt to make more money,
the leaders of the colony, William Bradford, Thomas Prence, and Edward Winslow, established a
state church which required the people to pay taxes to the church as well as fines for not attending
church. Despite their efforts, Pilgrim ministers still lacked sufficient money.
Analysis of the Level of Democracy of the European Union
The EU has often been indicted with having a democratic deficit due to its supposed lack of
adherence to democratic principles. In order to determine whether this is true, and the European
Union is democratic enough, it is necessary to establish the meaning of the word democratic.
Democracy can mean different things in various contexts, often depending on the socioeconomic
situation, political policies and structures of the country in question. However, Schmitter and Karl
describe democracy as a system of governance in which rulers are held accountable for their actions
in the public realm by citizens. Beetham segregates the ideas of political equality and popular
control whilst others such as Lively have asserted that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a central element of a democracy is the ability for voters to change the party or
government in control; however, in the European Union, the legislature consists of the Parliament,
Commission and the Council. Considering the Parliament is the only one which has any connection
to citizen elections, any change in the composition of the European Union would be ineffective in
bringing about substantive transformation. In addition, in comparing the EU to a traditional
democratic system in which MPs are elected by the people and responsible for the people, in the
European Union, people do not enjoy this direct representation.
Furthermore, the existence of comitology committees which contribute to the drafting, editing and
enacting of European Union laws further detach the citizens of the EU from the decision making,
leaving a large portion of European processes to be organised by unelected committee members. The
delegation of authority to expert committees, whilst being more efficient, distances the citizen from
the European Union, making the institution much less democratic.
Andrew Moravcsik, however, comments on this, claiming that such a large scale system of
government would not possibly be able to remove distance from itself and all of its citizens. On this
account, it appears that Moravcsik is correct. However, the

Molecular insights into gastric sleeve surgery: A review on gut microbiota and obesity
1.Introduction Overweight and obesity are defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an
abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat that damages the health of the individual.
Nowadays, obesity is becoming widespread around the world, with complications such as diabetes
and an increased risk of heart disease. Currently, it has been shown that in addition to genetic factors,
the incidence of obesity is affected by environmental factors such as gut microbiota interactions, and
diet through changes in gut microbiota, intestinal permeability and LPS levels. The gut microbiota
consists of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoans, often belonging to the phyla of Frimicutes,
Bacteroides, Actinobacteria, and Protebacteria (3). Although, more than a thousand different
bacteria are found in the human intestine, only 150 to 170 species are common between different
individuals, so microbiotas are specific for each individual (4). Imbalance in the symbiosis of
digestive tract microbiotas (dysbiosis) can occur in a variety of ways, including dietary... Show more

This surgery is a safe and effective way to reduce the weight of patients who are at greater risk or
who want to minimize the risk of weight loss surgery, due to excessive obesity (11). Effective factors
in weight loss in sleeve gastrectomy are food restrictions, malabsorption, gastric emptying, rapid
gastric emptying, increased appetite regulating hormones (PYY, GIP, GLP1, etc.), decreased hunger
hormone (ghrelin) and increased bile acids. Although, the size of the stomach is reduced in this type
of surgery, but its function stays normal. On the other hand, it reduces hunger due to extra gastric

Animal experiments or laboratory animal science have been a popular controversial issue. Since the
seventeenth century, there are debates on the ethics of animal testing. The ultimate goal of the

Animal experiments are generally used in the development and testing of new medicines. It is

History Of Central Banks Of America
Abel Shiferaw Econ 201 Prof Emma Cummings 05/01/2015 History of Central banks in America
Even though central banks can improve a nation s economy and are beneficial to governments,
the central banks of America had a very controversial history. Even before the establishment of
the Federal Reserve, banks were used by the public just as we use them today. Bank notes were in
use during this time and they were backed up by the guarantee that they can be traded for either
gold or silver on demand. The history of central banking in America dates back to 1781 when the
first bank of North America was chartered by the state of Pennsylvania with the help of Robert
Morris. It was the first ban k in America s history to receive deposits and issue its own banknotes.
Four years later, two more banks were created that also issued their own bank notes: the bank of
New York and the Massachusetts bank. (thismatter.com) Some were not very supportive of the
formation of a central baking system because of England s efforts to place the colonies under the
control of the bank of England while others were strongly in favor of it. As stated in the articles of
confederation, congress was given the power to print bills of credit and to establish a national bank
similar to the bank of England but objections rose of alarming foreign influence and fictitious credit
(Wikipedia.org) that hindered its ability to accomplish its intended role. On February 25 1791,
following the bank of North America, the

Causes and Effects of Bullying Bullying is a big issue that spreads through the world. It can happen
to anyone of all ages, and in numerous ways. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among
people that involves a real or perceived power imbalance that either repeats or has the potential to
repeat, overtime (Bullying Definition). There are so many factors that tie into bullying such as,
why the bully is actually bullying, why the bully chose that victim, or even the effects that occur
while the bullying is taking place. Low self esteem is a common reason why someone would
want to bully a person. Low self esteem is the lack of pride a person feels in themselves. Often
times a bully feels like they are less than others and the only way for them to feel better about
themselves is to try to bring others down. A lot of bullies aren t trying to hurt someone physically,
they use words and certain remarks to torture a person, making that person feel just as less as
them just to uplift their own self esteem. Although low self esteem is a cause narcissism is also a
factor to bullying. Not only can a bully feel less of themselves but they can also feel that they are
higher or better than others. Cockiness is a trait seen in many bullies. This may show in people
such as jocks at a high school, or a fellow co worker that may have a higher position or make a
higher salary.
There are a lot of cases where a bully is getting bullied

Race, Tribalism, and Genocide in the Sudan
Jpz777 03/11/2013 Order # 2087938 1.) How were tribes in the Sudan formed differently from the
way races were constructed in the United States? As is the case with the vast majority of nations
which were conquered and colonized by the British during their reign of global imperialism, the
Sudanese people of Africa experienced a rapid restructuring of its age old cultural identity system.
Located in the Cradle of Civilization, a region straddling both the African continent and the Arab
speaking Middle East, Sudan has long been home to a diverse population that is representative of its
many cultural influences, with Arab adherents of Islam living in relative stability alongside tribal
bands of native peoples. Upon being co opted as a British colony in the early 20th century to fuel a
flailing textile industry, the fertile lands of Sudan were transformed into cotton plantations, thus
beginning the insidious process of subjugating the Sudanese people through division and
demarcation. The modern colonial scholar Mahmood Mamdani has observed that British colonial
governance was about identity formation ... (because) the colonial political objective involved more
than just redefining the relationship between colonial power and subject; it involved reshaping the
very self consciousness of the colonized, how they thought of themselves, their self identity
(Mamdani, 2009), and this concept of ensuring obedience through the removal and reshaping of
identity lies at the
The Legal System Of The Law
The law is worldwide; it affects almost every aspect of our everyday lives and also has an impact
on every individual. There are many types of laws such as laws that deal with crimes and laws
that govern activities within the community; there are also specific laws in certain portions of the
legal system. Laws are made in order to give us rules of conduct that protect everyone s individual
rights (Canada Department of Justice). How law is dealt with is seen to vary throughout
different countries for the reason that each country contains different laws that are based to fit
their culture and customs. However, when law is dealt with, regardless of the area it is enforced
in; if the crime of the accused is serious enough it will go through a trial system which is also seen
to vary depending on the country. A trial system is the process of examining a case in the court of
law and deciding if an individual is innocent or guilty of what they are being accused for
(Macmillan dictionary). Trial systems are an important part of the legal system for the reason that
everyone is entitled to the right of a fair trial procedure which allows the individual that is being
accused to be determined innocent or guilty through the rule of law so that if the individual is in
fact innocent then there will be no consequences and all will be forgotten and if guilty they will be
dealt with properly. Trials are held accordingly depending on the trial system that is being used in
that particular court

Conversion Therapy And Its Effects On The Lgbtq Community
About 30 years ago, homosexuality was declassified as a mental disorder. It would be assumed that
treatments for to change homosexuality would end. However, conversion therapy is still being used
today, even our future Vice President, Mike Pence, believes in such treatment. That alone is a huge
threat to people of the LGBTQ+ community.
Conversion therapy is affecting the LGBTQ+ community greatly. Conversion therapy can be defined
as psychological interventions, from behavioral methods to psychoanalytic approaches to change a
person s sexuality or gender identity (Hadelman, pg. 202, 2002). This treatment has been proven to
not work as well as having harmful implications to LGBTQ+ people. In 1960, the conversion therapy

NARTH heavily relies on the support of Southern Baptist, Mormon, Roman Catholic, and other
religious organizations to promote conversion of homosexuality (Baxter, pg. 1, 2015).
Love in Action, which was one of the first religious based organizations to participate in conversion
therapy, was founded in 1973. By 1976, Exodus, a national coalition of ex gay ministries was
founded. There were hundreds of participates over the years and most went back to homosexual life.
Interestingly enough, ex gay ministries do not keep statistics on the success of their work.
However, outside observers founded that at least two thirds of those in such groups give up within
two years, and that over seventy five percent of ex gay organizations fail within five years (Baxter,
pg. 2, 2015).
There are also no peer reviewed articles that display any kind of success with conversion therapy.
Even the cases that ex gay ministries consider a person cure is when that person is asexual and
refrains from any sexual encounters. This in turn is only a change in behavior, not sexual orientation.
