I should prove that I resigned to mediocrity, or simply pass some limited to the specific facts.

Because goal is mainly aimed at students, then I are likely to use student learning outcomes to
reflect efforts, rather than teaching I how many chapters covering textbooks. Teaching evaluation
for teachers is a sensitive issue, but in large part because teachers do not make the own assessment
methods. Most of us are forced to use a standard evaluation form. But this does not prevent us to
develop more relevant to our specific aims and goals. Teachers develop the own evaluation methods,
usually get more relevant feedback. But in addition, they will usually get more positive feedback,
because they are asking the students to the most important aspects of the course for
Reaction Of The Maillard Reaction
Introduction
The non enzymatic reaction of reducing sugars with amino groups of amino acids, peptides and
proteins is called as non enzymatic glycosylation or simply glycation. This non enzymatic reaction
ultimately results in the formation of complex brown pigments and protein protein crosslinks that
were first studied under defined conditions by Maillard in the early 1900s (Maillard and Gautier,
1912) and the reaction came to known as the Maillard reaction. There is a condensation reaction
between reducing sugar and free amino acids at the amino terminus or susceptible ε amino group of
lysine residues of proteins producing labile N substituted glycosylamine (Schiff base) that may
undergo two sequential rearrangements, forming a stable Amadori product (Fayle Gerrard, 2002).
The reducing sugars namely, glucose, fructose, galactose, mannose, ribose and certain carbohydrate
relatives are inherently reactive toward nucleophilic groups. Glucose is the least reactive among
common sugars because it exists in least concentration in the open chain form (Paulsen and
Pflughaupt, 1980). Amadori rearrangement was a key early step in the Maillard reaction (Hodge,
1955). Early glycation directs the formation of Schiff s bases and Amadori products that further
oxidized to advanced glycated end products (AGEs) (Chetyrkin et al., 2008). Studies have shown
that the glycation process (in the early stage where the interaction of sugars, such as glucose, with
free amino groups of lysine and
Kolb s Cycle Of Experiential Learning
Kolb s Cycle of Experiential Learning
I have always believed that we learn by our own experiences. I think that this belief that I have
lived by is why I was so intrigued by this particular learning theory. I will be discussing Kolb s Cycle
of Experiential Learning. I will explain the definition of this particular type of learning style and how
it explains how as an individual one learns. I will be describing the four different stages of Kolb s
learning cycle and Kolb s four different learning styles. I will also discuss how this learning style
will essentially help me with lifelong learning beyond my BAAS degree in a personal and
professional manner.
David Kolb is an educational theorist that helped develop the Experiential Learning Model in the
early 1970 s it was then published in 1984. The basic assumption for Kolb s cycle is that this type
of learning is built on the idea that a person s preference of learning can be described with two
different levels: a four stage cycle of learning and four types of learning styles. He defines that
learners experience a cycle of experiences, these experiences then lead to reflections, and we then
take these experiences and build upon them to create new experiences. In Kolb s Cycle of
Experiential Learning theory he states Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created
through the transformation of experience (Kolb, 1984, p. 38). What I enjoyed about Kolb s Cycle
of Experiential Learning method is that not only does it let one
The Role Of Women s Video Games
When discussing the role of women in video games, it is important to establish what an acceptable
female character is. An acceptable female character has her own motivations that are not dependent
on a male character, is not overtly sexualized, and has a multi dimensional personality. A well written
femalecharacter has a storyline that is independent of other malecharacters and does not serve to
further male storylines. The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog, follows Joel as he leads
Ellie, a young girl, across a post apocalyptic world. Ellie, rather than existing as a tool to further
Joel s man pain, acts on her own inhibitions. Ellie also becomes a playable character at certain
points and Alexandra Neonakis, part of the team that created the game, states that these are some
of the most important plot points (JAMSTEW, 2015). The story itself focuses on the fact that she
may contain the cure to the infection that has riddled the United States, turning people into a
zombie like state. While some may see the relationship of Joel and Ellie as merely Joel using Ellie
for his own purposes, it is more of a mutual relationship. With the influence of Joel and other
factors, Ellie goes on a journey from a damsel in distress to a fully capable and complex character ,
states Neonakis (JAMSTEW, 2015). The game attempted to showcase a relationship between man
and women where each needed each other for support and to improve themselves. A women s
sexuality can be an integral part
Relationships Between Men and Women in The Winter s Tale...
Relationships Between Men and Women in The Winter s Tale by William Shakespeare

The Winter s Tale was written in 1611, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The play is one of
Shakespeare s romance titles, though it could be more justly referred to as a tragi comedy due to the
instances of accusation, death, repentance and reunion. To successfully study how Shakespeare
presents relationships between men and women in The Winter s Tale there are four main relationships
to examine Hermione and Leontes, Paulina and Antigonus, Perdita and Florizel, and Leontes and
Paulina.

Shakespeare s view of women, and generally the Elizabethan view, suggested that women had less
capability for evil can ... Show more content on [Link] ...
If we wished to discuss the base treatment of women in Elizabethan literature there would be more
productive areas to look than in The Winter s Tale. Rather The Winter s Tale is useful for its
brevity of the depiction of how Shakespeare s contemporaries may have believed women should act.
This is successfully carried out through presenting the audience with three women who are
effectively caricatures, what T.E. (?) referred to as Maids, Wives and Widows, these represented in
The Winter s Tale by Perdita, Hermione, and Paulina, respectively.

The relationship between Hermione and Leontes would be seen by a Shakespearian audience as
one to approve of and, with regards to this play, it is possibly the most important. Hermione is the
faithful, never doubting, humble wife who will stand by her husband even amidst his throes of
jealousy and tyranny and place her trust in destiny and the stars:

HERMIONE

I must be patient till the heavens look With an aspect more favourable. Good my lords, I am not
prone to weeping, as our sex Commonly are.

(Act Two, Scene 1)

Hermione s supposed resurrection could be seen either a cynicism in that she wished to reward
Leontes for his tyranny with sixteen years of repentance or could be seen as a valid form of justice
for her. Modern audiences may see the resurrection of Hermione
The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin.
The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin. In reading the poetry of Philip
Larkin for the first time, one is struck by the characteristically glum atmosphere that pervades most
of his poems. The vast majority of his verse is devoted to what is generally taken to be negative
aspects of life, such as loneliness and dejection, disappointments, loss, and the terrifying prospect of
impending death. Evidently, there are uplifting and humorous sides to his work as well, but for
certain reasons Larkin is invariably identified with a downhearted, pessimistic temper and tone of
voice, conveying a constant sense of failure and of disappointment that underlies all the more
specific emotions and reflections of individual... Show more content on [Link] ...
In Send No Money , this sense of having been cheated is voiced with embittered bluntness.
Someone is kept from getting the best out of his life by a false promise of knowledge: while in
his youth his mates went to enjoy themselves, the persona kept himself apart, aspiring to wisdom:
Tell me the truth, I said, Teach me the way things go. (146) But his sacrifice earned him nothing,
and after the initial enthusiasm is vanished it begins to dawn on him that he has been cheated: Oh
thank you, I said, Oh yes please, And I sat down to wait Half life is over now Sod all. In this way
I spent youth Tracing the trite untransferable Truss advertisement, truth. (146) Larkin thus gives the
impression that the reality of life as it presents itself to him falls blatantly short of what he
expected. This disillusionment is particularly prominent when it comes to an assessment of what
he has, or rather has not, achieved so far in life. More than once Larkin indicates the feeling that
his lifetime passes unused. He talks about time/ Torn off unused ( Aubade , 208) and asks: Where
has it gone, the lifetime? ( The View , 195). The reader gets the sense that Larkin s life was
unfulfilled; his only outlet to express this
Summary Of Slavery By Linda Brent
Slavery granted more rights and freedoms to white Americans being considered powerful masters
who could do everything they wanted not caring about human rights and basic principles of ethics.
Since the author presents the female perspective on slavery and racism in the present book, the
analysis of female characters and related female suffering due to sexual oppression and exploitation
plays an important role in it. Linda Brent, the author herself, is the major female character in the
book presenting many instances from her life and showing the life of slaves in detail. From the
early childhood, Linda had no bad thoughts about the surrounding environment and did not know the
truth about her fate as a slave, as she was born a slave and no other
Managing The Effects Of Grief And Stress Essay
Additionally, the death of a family member or loved one can also create stress. Most often when
our loved one passes away it leaves us in an emotional state whether it means crying for days or
feeling depressed. Some people react to death no matter what .There are some persons who just
cannot deal with the fact that they would not be able to see the person again. In an article entitled
Managing the Effects of Griefand Stress, the writer states When you lose something or someone
dear to you, chances are you ll feel a combination of emotions: depression, sadness, frustration,
shock and fear. Your body reacts to grief too; you ll certainly feel tired. You can also feel physically
weak as if all your strength has drained away and
Importance Of Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are a very important to our ecosystem and our earth. The ocean contains many different
types of coral reefs containing a wide variety of living things. Although, every day, it seems that our
coral reefs are becoming endangered. While these coral reefs are important to us, they are in great
danger of being nonexistent.
First of all, a coral reef is defined as a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of
coral. Coral reefs are a diverse underwater ecosystem held together by calcium carbonate structures.
They are created by colonies of tiny animals and organisms found in marine water. These animals
and organisms contain nutrients needed to help the process of coral reef formation. These reefs
begin to form when ... Show more content on [Link] ...
In these coral reefs, live many different types of plants and animals. Some of these plants include but
are not limited to, algae. Algae is known for providing a source of food for the smaller fish and
invertebrate sea life. Then they are also known for acting like glue while helping the reefs grow
larger and stronger. Then in the reefs, are also seagrasses. These seagrasses can grow very rapidly
growing, and in return, they help trap sediment loads near the reefs. The seagrass can also
provide a habitat for smaller fish, invertebrate animals, sea turtles, and even manatees. One of the
final plants is the mangroves. Mangroves are plants that can help support a very wide range of
reef fishes and other marine life. The roots of the mangrove trees act as a nursery for young reef
fishes by giving them an are that is not very well seen. They are able to breed, and the smaller fish
are able to grow away from predators. Then there are also animals that live in the reefs. Some of
these animals are predators, while some are not. Some of these animals include sea snakes, sea
turtles, manatees, dugongs, sponges, crustaceans, and mollusks. These sea snakes are said to be
venomous, so scuba divers and fishers are recommended to stay away from them. Then there are
the sea turtles. The different species of sea turtles are most often seen resting on the reef itself. One
of the species of sea turtles is the Hawksbill turtle. They are a species that is known to

Birmingham area

Primary School
A primary school is a statutory sector which is funded by the government through payment of
taxes. By law, this service must be made available to young children in the UK. The targeted age
of children that attend Primary school ranges from 5 to 11 years of age. A Primary school is a
structured environment which helps support young children to develop and perfect basic skills
needed in life; some of which are: reading, writing, and social skills. Primary School starts at 9am
and ends at 3:30pm depending on a breakfast or after school clubs.

There are four main Legislation that deal with children s welfare within the Birmingham City that
supports the rights of children and these Legislations are:

Children Act 1989 (Partnership with parents is crucial)

The Children Act 1989 introduced parental responsibility not just parental rights so therefore
statutory services like schools and nurseries must include Partnership with Parents Within my setting
and by the Children Act 1989 that came in to force in England and Wales in 1991 it is important for
the practitioner to be in partnership with parents.

This is to ensure that the needs, interest and decisions of the child comes first and are being met.
Also, it is by law that parents be responsible and knows everything about their child when they are
away from them or home.

This can be done by having a two way relationship with parents for example parent s evenings, this
is when staff discusses children s progress open days so parents can come in be welcomed and
look around their child s school or nursery. There can be coffee mornings, sharing information or
just giving feedback to parents when they pick their child up from school at the end of the day.

The welfare of the child is paramount and that is why partnership with parents is crucial. Many
schools and nurseries also have bi lingual staff for children who do not speak English fluently so
that the parents are fully aware of what is going on in a school at
Patricia Era Bath Research Paper
Patricia Era Bath, one of the most amazing inventors, doctors, and educators of our time, was born
on November 4, 1972 in Harlem, New York. Gladys Bath, her mother, worked as a housewife and
a domestic worker, saving her salary for her children s education. Her father, Rupert Bather set the
family tone for firsts. He was the first black motorman for the subway system in New York City.
Patricia was encouraged to pursue academic interests and exposed to the value of exploring different
cultures. Her interest in science and medicine was first sparked when her motherbought her first
chemistry set. Bath worked tirelessly for many years to become as educated as possible, and she
succeeded. She was one of very few students in attendance at a National Science Foundation
sponsored cancer research workshop at the young age of only 16. Dr. Robert Bernard, the head of
the program, thought her work was so remarkable that he incorporated her discoveries in a
scientific report at a conference. Bath managed to graduate high school in only two years, and
earned her bachelor s degree from Hunter College in 1964. In... Show more content on

Columbia University was lucky enough to have Bath pursue a fellowship in ophthalmology in
1969. Her many discoveries were shocking. Bath found that African Americans twice as likely to
go blind and eight times more likely to suffer from glaucoma than any other race or test subject.
Due to the results of her research, she got a community ophthalmology system developed to
increase the level of eye care given to those who couldn t afford treatment. Patricia Bath became the
first African American to ever complete an ophthalmology residency in 1973. The next year, she
moved to California to work at Charles R. Drew University and the University of California, Los
Angeles as an assistant professor of surgery. Bath was the first female faculty member in the
Ophthalmology Department of UCLA s Jules Stein Eye Institute by
