Extremely low and high temperatures can slow down the development of societies and
civilizations greatly. If you are living in a place with temperatures similar to the ones of The
Arctic, you will obviously have a lot of harvesting problems because of the cold and all the snow
covering the ground. Also, problems with getting around and working hard because it is too cold
to leave your home and go out are very probable. Going out to work in conditions like these, can
leave people dead or very sick with things like hypothermia. On the other hand, extreme heats, like
in places close to the equator, also slow development for very similar reasons. People struggle to
leave their houses because of extreme heat dangers like getting deep burns or even things like
skin cancer from the sun s UV rays, and may also have harvesting problems because of how dry it
is. Land forms and geography can also have an impact on the development of societies and
civilizations. If you live in an area with a lot of bodies of water, you will be granted with things
like fertile soil, easy transportation, abundant food and water supply, more animals to hunt (fishing)
and much better hygiene than for example a place in the middle of the desert. Your geography is
very important to a stable society
Nt1330 Week 2 Agression Analysis Paper
In order to test the effectiveness of IGA and GA when solving the timetabling problem, a
comparison with the PSO algorithm was performed to investigate trends of performance. All
coding was written in MATLAB code and the test case focused on the three above algorithms. All
tests were executed on a 3.30 Ghz Intel core i5 processor with 16 GB of ram. The convergence
graphs for IGA, GA, and PSO below shows progress until a valid solution for each of the algorithms
were discovered. Each of the algorithms simulated 1,000 generations. The graph in Figure 10 14

algorithms with various mathematical functions as presented by privous sessions. It is cleard to see
that the hybride algorithm performed better than other techniques. Surrprisingly, the Ackley
function performed closely to the hybride algorithm. Figure 11 14 shows that PSO reached the
optimal result very quickly because this algorithm works as a local search which makes a narrow
space for the search of a solution, rather than other algorithms which work as a global search
Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson
This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids,
left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London,
England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The
younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The
message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without
experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure.
In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point
of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The
adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are
limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They
move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly
eased.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly
moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had
gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids,
attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This

Effect of Concentration on Enzyme Activity Lab Report
Lab Report
(Effect of concentration on enzyme activity)
Biology

Introduction:
An Enzyme is a protein, which is capable of starting a chemical reaction, which involves the
formation or breakage of chemical bonds. A substrate is the surface or material on or from which an
organism lives, grows, or obtains its nourishment. In this case it is hydrogen peroxide. This lab
report will be explaining the experiment held to understand the effects of the changes in the amount
of substrate on the enzyme s reaction.

Research question:
What does the changes in the amount of substrate on an enzyme s reaction effect on?

Hypothesis:
I forecast that the more concentrated the hydrogen peroxide is the higher the volume of ... Show more

Make sure you rinse your glassware carefully between procedures. Repeat this procedure five times.
5. Use this data to calculate the rate of reaction of this enzyme 6. Plan and conduct your own
investigation into one other factor that affects the activity of catalase, you may use this as the basis
for your investigation but if it is to be for moderation of internal assessment you must modify it
substantially.

Results: Different type of hydrogen peroxide| Volume of foam cm³| 0.5%| 5 cm³| 1%| 7 cm³| 2%| 13
cm³| 4%| 21 cm³| 6%| 24 cm³|

The volume of the foam using different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide:

Conclusion:
As I forecasted the results proved correct that, the more concentrated the hydrogen peroxide is the
higher the volume of the foam is and the less concentrated the hydrogen peroxide is the lower the
volume of the foam will become. Other than the table of results the graph is also evidence to my true
hypothesis. Each time the concentration of hydrogen peroxide doubles the level of foam increases
but the more the concentration the foam reaches its constant point therefore slowly increasing. An
example is when the 2% concentration of hydrogen peroxide was added the foam level was
13cm³ but when 4% was added to the next trial the level of foam greatly increased to 21 cm³ and
as it reached its constant point, when 6% it slowed down and increased only 3 cm³ more which
became 24 cm³.

European Imperialism In Europe
The history of imperialism in Europe is vast, but none more so than the conquering of Africa from
military involvement to resources in a country to the use of missionaries to gain trust with natives.
The Europeans used military force to conquer land for the resources that could not be obtained in
their country. The military was used to enslave the natives to mine the resources, such as gold,
diamonds, rubber, and ivory, for the rich at home when the missionaries attempts to gain trust. The
missionaries came claiming to want to teach them, but instead they destroyed the unique culture of
the area. A combination of these caused an uproar from the natives and the end of imperialism in the
area. The history of these also affects how life
The Importance Of Religion In American History
The new insights I gained so far from this course is that Jon Butler begins by describing the state of
religious affairs in both the Old and New Worlds on the eve of colonization. He traces the progress of
religion in the colonies through the time of the American Revolution, covering all the religious
groups, Protestants, Jews, and Catholics, as well as the unique religious experiences of Native
Americans and African Americans. On the other hands, Wacker continues his story with a
fascinating look at the ever shifting religious landscape of 19th century America. He focuses mainly
on the rapid growth of evangelical Protestants which includes Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists,
and others which they were continued to increase with large immigrant... Show more content on

I also learn about the significance of religious thought and religious diversity in shaping American
history from the fifteenth century to the present day. Furthermore, I learn the significant of the
Declaration of Independence is full of religious language, and the Constitution guarantees freedom of
religion as a fundamental national right. Soldiers and politicians on both sides of the Civil War
relied on their religious beliefs to make sense of the war and their positions in it. Americans invoked
religious arguments to defend and denounce slavery in the nineteenth century, and they have used
religious arguments on both sides of civil rights battles in the twentieth and twenty first centuries.
This is the history which includes many personalities who plays part in the history and the
Christianity establishment in American history and its structures. I learn how the historians tell the
stories to fit in the particular situation or at large context in history. The significant thing I learned
from my study is that the nature and source of history that gives legal rights, individual rights and
the rights of churches in America. As Hodge boasted ...All significant truth had been revealed by God
long ago in the Bible. Humans should try to see the full range of meanings the Holy Book

Surgical Wound Infection Essay

Koch (Professor of Hygiene and Microbiology, Berlin, 1843 1910) first recognized the cause of
infective foci as secondary to microbial growth in his 19th century postulates. Semmelweis (Austrian
obstetrician,
1818 1865) demonstrated a 5 fold reduction in puerperal sepsis by hand washing between performing
postmortem examinations and entering the delivery room. Joseph Lister (Professor of Surgery,
London,
1827 1912) and Louis Pasteur (French bacteriologist, 1822 1895) revolutionized the entire concept
of wound infection. Lister recognized that antisepsis could prevent infection.[1] In 1867, Lister
placed carbolic acid into open fractures to sterilize the wound and to prevent sepsis and hence the
need for amputation. In 1871, Lister began to use carbolic spray in the operating room to reduce
contamination.
However, the concept of wound suppuration persevered even among eminent surgeons, such as John
Hunter, 1728 1793.[2]
As late as the 19th century, aseptic surgery was not routine practice. Sterilization of instruments
began in the 1880s as did the wearing of gowns, masks, and gloves. Halsted (Professor of Surgery,
Johns
Hopkins University, United States, 1852 1922) introduced rubber gloves to his scrub nurse (and
future wife) because she was developing skin irritation from the chemicals used to disinfect
instruments. The routine use of

thoughts toward everything, set aside tiny life changes like cereal brands, hair styles and different
routes to work or school, although these changes might cause memorable bad days they don t qualify
as an imprint that might change you as a person. Cultural changes on the other hand, without doubt
qualify for imprinting strongly on your life, how this culture walks, speaks, dresses and is seen by

But that wasn t the case. My dad started with, we re moving, so we thought, the new place better

soaked the news in instantly and was overjoyed by the idea of the plane trip, the food on the

she never wanted it to come out but had to react to the way our faces looked. We were literally
thrilled, we always heard about Libya through my parents because they were raised there, but
knowing we re moving and starting a new life there was absolutely overwhelming, or so we

Living With Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
[Link] Living with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is one of the hardest
challenges I have ever faced. Having been diagnosed at the age of seven, it is the most prevalent
thing in my life. ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed psychological disorder in the United
States (Hughes). It is a persistent disorder, often prevalent through adolescence and adulthood.
Most individuals diagnosed are between the ages of seven and nine, although there have been
numerous cases where individuals have been diagnosed in their later years. Case studies show
that males are four times more likely to be diagnosed/affected with ADHD, and lately, studies
have shown an unexplained increase in the number of diagnoses made in children. It has been
recognized that in the past, people have scoffed at the diagnosis of ADHD, and even disregarding
and bashing the disorder, calling it things like, a real medical hoax (Citation). These individuals,
however, are severely misguided, seeing as though ADHD is a real disorder, and it affects millions
of people worldwide in present day. There have been neurological studies studying and showing that
ADHD is, in fact, neurologically related, and it is most likely caused by chemical imbalances in
individual s brains (Citation). One greatly debated question in the world of Attention Deficit
Hyperactive Disorder is, Can an individual that was diagnosed with ADHD eventually outgrow it?
One side of this argument states that an individual that has been
