The Hollow Men, And Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Coppola s film Apocalypse Now, Eliot s poem The Hollow
Men, and Coleridge s Rime of the Ancient Mariner all show a hollow or dark spot somewhere
within every human heart. Heart of Darkness follows Marlow as he enters Africa in search of a man
named Kurtz who had recently stopped shipping ivory to The Company. Apocalypse Now, a Vietnam
war based rendition of Heart of Darkness, follows Captain Willard on his way to assassinate Kurtz,
a man who had turned on the US army with questionable methods. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
tells the reader of a sin committed by the Mariner, and his prayer for renewal. The Hollow Men,
on the other hand, depicts three stages of life for all humankind rather than following specific
characters. The Hollow Men shows that human experiences can affect one s outlook on life and
society, twisting it into something significantly darker than how it began. This idea can explain the
outcome of the characters within Heart of Darkness, Apocalypse Now, and Rime of the Ancient
Mariner. In both Coppola s film Apocalypse Now and Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Kurtz has
experienced much different things than the Marlow character had prior to the two meeting. In both
stories, Kurtz had strayed from a path set out for them by a bigger entity. In Apocalypse Now, Kurtz
strayed away from what the United States armybelieved to be sensible action, whereas in Heart of
Darkness Kurtz stops sending ivory to The Company. Both Kurtz
Essay on Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights as it stands for the United States entered as a stems from a vow as promises so to
speak was made by the Fathers of Confederation to the states during the effort for ratification of the
Constitution in 1787 1788. Numerous states had created some conditions for their ratification; the
appendage of amendments, which would assure citizen s a safeguard like a safety net for their
human rights in contrast to the central government and therefore the people had a rather remarkable
circumstances in which the entrenchment of a bill of rights in the American Constitution was
prepared by means of the fundamental command of the states, they themselves being alarmed about
the central government which was not officially enforced... Show more content on [Link] ...
They were put into operation by the House of Representatives on August 21, 1789, officially
endorsed by a joint resolution pledge of Congress on September 25, 1789, and fell and with that
created the Constitutional Amendments on December 15, 1791, throughout the course of
endorsement by three fourths of the states. However twelve amendments were proposed by
Congress, only ten were formally ratified by the states. From the remaining two, one was accepted
two hundred and three years later and with that extended into the Twenty seventh Amendment, and
the other technically lingers in the path of head of the states. A very significant part of the U.S.
Constitution, the Bill of Rights without a doubt states the numerous rights of the citizens of the
United States. These rights were acknowledged within the first Ten Amendments of the
Constitution. Put into action on December 15, 1791, with allocates was simple, for example the
right for a speedy public trial, freedom of religion. If one takes a closer look from a different angles
one may see real meaning as well as the reason why the Bill of Rights was written. Why was the
Bill of Rights written? The United States Bill of Rights came into being as a result of a promise
made by the Fathers of Confederation to the states during the struggle for ratification of the
Constitution in 1787 88. A great number of the states made as a condition for their
The Importance Of Freedom Of The Press
Freedom of the of the press has been a tricky topic throughout the ages. The press used to be a
reliable source of news, where the full truth was given to the public. As the years go by more and
more are added, making it difficult for press to do anything. This has often lead to many journalists
going to court to argue against those that have violated their rights granted in the first amendment.
The first amendment clearly states Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech.
Despite the amendments protecting the people from the government, these lawsuits with journalists
and public speakers keep appearing. Nowadays, it is difficult to find a news source without
stumbling upon prejudiced opinions, stories heavily censored, and news created to catch the eye of
the public. America was a country of freedom, but now this country has enforced so many
restrictions and laws that most of that freedom seems lost. Journalismused to be one of the most
trusted sources of news. Lately, journalists have been a huge target on the end of first amendment
restrictions. With a journalist s job, telling the public about everything occurring throughout the
world. These restrictions have made a huge impact on their work. But, journalists now have a much
better way to convey their ideas through the internet. Anyone can access their articles and read them,
but with the easy accessibility to stories, there is a downside. Sometimes reporters must write up

WHCL Issues

Re: WHCL Issues Summary of Company/Issues To begin, Warmth Home Comfort Limited is a
Canadian manufacturer of furnaces and air conditioning units. The company acquired 15 investors
eight years ago, three of which are senior managers, and Mr. Kovacs, who is president and CEO.
Recently, they have been struggling with an increase in competition overseas, and WHCL is
considering going public. Yesterday, I had visited WHCL and met with key personnel to discuss the
forthcoming audit engagement and obtained the following information from the previous
statements: $300,000 was loaned to WHCL with the restrictions of: maintaining a current ratio of 1.2
or higher, and the debt to equity ... Show more content on [Link] ...
This would be included in 20X8, as stated by management and only effect that time, which may be
irrelevant for 20X7. In this case, WHCL would make this a transfer of gain or loss to the lessee or
purchasee, thus allowing WHCL to record revenues, ultimately, lowering its ratios, thus, reducing the
chances for a penalty to occur. But, if the initial date and end date are long term, this lease, called a
finance lease, would not suffice unless payment was guaranteed. Lastly, management spoke about it
covering maintenance at no cost until the date of purchase, this is fine with WHCL as they can
accurately determine their needed expenses for this agreement, but should not take this issue lightly,
as it make cause this company to become an ongoing concern.

Conclusion/Results of Investigation

In the end, WHCL needs to have better standards in place, they may not meet the requirements set
out for them in the loan, and may be penalized if such thing occurs. In the case that they do violate
the terms, the loan may be demanded back. WHCL then may also not receive any funding from
others, due to the fact that they may be an issue for others, with regards to repayment and other

My Overall Team Experiences During The Managing...
Outline

This is the reflective essay of my overall team experiences during the Managing organisations and
people course this trimester. Reflecting upon the past and its experiences will enable me to
broaden my communication, ability in solving conflicts and enrich my future expertise. To look
back at my group work all this while helped me in gaining the knowledge to face the real world.
Frankly saying never did I work in a group or a team before, so it was a different experience
altogether. This paper will give me an opportunity to explore through various aspects of my role in
our team. My role being a key speaker perfectly suited my personal character. I found this job
interesting as matching our personal traits with profession will ... Show more content on

In contrast diversity in a group will help the members come up with non identical ideas and views
thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, Bonacum, 2004). All the
members started feeling important in the team, which therefore overpowered the negatives
arising due to the diversity. According to Waller (2004), Gupta (2004) Giambatista (2004),
proper communication without any deviations play a key role in boosting the productivity of the
overall team. Nixon (2014), Johnson and Wiggs (2011) claimed that effective speaking is key for
a good team. Also the research (Wu Xiao, 2011; Peterson, 2012) supports my argument. It says that
the individuals in a team should be frank in their approach and should stand by their own
arguments until completely convinced by the logic. Hence I tried not to give up on my opinion as
Danks (2012, p24) categorized a clear and reasoned thinker and communicator . Clear
communication and open expression of views and ideas will build up the cohesiveness of team. This
in turn also develops a better understanding which is a must to work together.

Later on, the work was delegated within us to improve the self, show courage, persistence and
effective determination (DuPont 2013, p.69). Here I should also mention about the challenges and
the way we handled them. However improper
Essay On Dewshine
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued warnings for parents, public health
officials following the death of two local Tennessee teens due to a lethal racing fuel and soda
cocktail drink mix. Two Tennessee boys brought half a gallon of racing fuel to a party and mixed
it with 2 litres of soda to create a concoction called Dewshine. The boys, together with two other
teens, drank the mixture, according to Daily Mail. The morning after, one of the two, a 16 yr old
boy named Logan Stephenson, was found dead on his bed. Emergency responders were soon called
to the house of the second boy J.D. Byram after the 16 year old experienced seizures. He died five
days later in a medical centre in Tennessee even after aggressive... Show more content on

Intoxication from methanol is similar to being drunk. CBS News noted Dewshine can cause gastric
symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, and nausea. It can also cause neurologic symptoms such as coma,
confusion, seizures, agitated behaviour, and difficulty in walking. Experts from the CDC have
urged parents, community leaders, educators, medical professionals, and public health officials to
emphasise how debilitating methanol as an alcohol substitute can be. The centre further warns that
symptoms may not appear right after ingestion, but it should not discourage victims from seeking
medical help. After 6 hours, the victim is likely to become drowsy, experience gastric symptoms,
and then followed by more serious neurological symptoms. In Czech Republic, 20 died and 40
others were in serious condition after a bootleg of an alcohol tainted with methanol reached the
local market, according to The New York Times in 2012. Authorities believed the bootleg liquor
were contaminated by Polish made antifreeze. The incident has led to a ban in liquors with 20
percent or higher alcohol
Analysis Of The Movie White Privilege II By Michael...

I Have an Advantage; Why?
In today s world, perhaps one of the largest debates among human beings is privilege and gender
equality. In both Macklemore s White privilege II , and Michael Kimmel s Why Gender Equality is
Good for Everyone, Men Included , the authors evidently explained what white privileges are, how
white privilege effects individuals of different race, and how gender equality can benefit men and
women in their household and in the workplace. In Macklemore s song he attempted to
understand his place in black culture, specifically related to hip hop music and Black Lives
Matter protests. While in Michael Kimmel s speech he attempted to explain white privilege and
the benefits of gender equality for women as well as men by using stories of past experiences.
When critically analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of both author s tones, evidence, and
overall strength of the body of work, I am boldly convinced that Michael Kimmel s speech is
essentially the superior of the two authors. Though Macklemore s song was relevant and had great
connections to our everyday life, the author was very aggressive and lacked any source of credible
evidence to his observations. Michael Kimmel s speech did exhibit evidence, but it was often
questionable. However, he does displayed great tone by appealing to humor, was very entertaining by
keeping his audience eagerly intact, and communicated relevant stories
The Human Resource Management Policies
Human Resource Management Policies
Each school district has human resource policies in place to help ensure a safe and smooth running
workplace. The policies serve to provide for the needs of the diverse workforce. It is important as
an educational leader to know your school s policies and how they are differentiated to meet the
needs of each subgroup in the workforce and thereby increase student achievement. Your
organization s systems for engaging, developing, and assessing the engagement of your work force,
with the aim of enabling and encouraging all members of your workforce to contribute effectively
and to the best of their ability. These systems are intended to foster student achievement and high
performance, to address your core competencies, and to contribute to the accomplishment of your
action plans and to organizational sustainability (Baldrige National Quality Program, 2007, p. 49)
Human Resource Management Policies
The following information about human resource management policies that are being used to
improve the workforce efficiency in this small rural school was gleaned from an interview with
Andrea Williams, principal of Theresa Bunker Elementary School. The majority of the policies we
discussed come from the district human resources department, or the negotiated master contract that
is negotiated by our local teacher union. Many of these policies are the same for all employees in
the workforce no matter the group, such as certified or classified.
