The Use Of Cell Phones In Education
Virtually all students have cell phones and it s typical to see them texting away or listening to music
through earbud at every opportunity the teacher gives them. When the teacher is busy helping out
another student or writing on the board. Eventually, the teacher notices and warns that phones will
be confiscated. The phones disappear until the teacher isn t paying attention anymore. And in today s
world, when homes are filled with computers and mobile devices, schools are questioning how much
technology belongs in the classroom.
Many high school students have grown accustomed to reading 140 character or shorter tweets. And
at a time when calculators are on every cell phone, they ve grown more dependent on letting
machines solve even the simplest of problems. Students are losing an ability to respond quickly on
their feet, as well as common sense about math and reading. There s no thinking happening in
students thought process. So, how should schools combot with short attention spans and need for
excitement among students? The solution is cultural: Teachers, parents, and administrators need to
agree that sustained cognitive thinking, inductive and deductive reasoning, or detailed analysis and
problem solving are necessary in a child s education. All of this seems easier said than done and most
teachers are running up against unimaginative curricula and restrictive policies. But the constant cell
phone use happening in classrooms must serve as a challenge, forcing teachers
Essay On Stereo Imaging
I My Question Have you ever wondered why Eddie Van Halen s guitar sounds like it is on the left
of you? Well it is all thanks to the technique called stereo imaging, which can make a sound appear
to come from anywhere in the stereo field. Stereo imaging has always fascinated me, which lead
me to interested in how it works. Stereo imaging makes you feel like the song is being performed all
around, with the listener able to pinpoint any soundcoming from the audio. But how is this done and
achieved? I knew a little about audio recording, and a little about stereo imaging, such as using two
microphones to record an acoustic guitarsounds better than one, but I wanted to know more about
the different techniques of stereo imaging.... Show more content on [Link] ...
For example, while researching my topic, I wanted to test out some of the stereo imaging
techniques for myself, so that I knew exactly what they do, and how they work leaving me able
to better explain them. This also made me realize that I am a visual learner and a hands on
learner; I have to experience things for myself for me to truly understand how they work. If it is
possible for me to learn with hands on methods, that would be the best way for me to learn
efficiently. I hope that when my Isearch paper is read, that the reader learns something about the
way things they hear on the radio or on tv are created. There is a process to make it sound a
certain way, and that is a real art. If I ever have to write another Isearch paper or if I had to
complete the process again, I would be sure to use the Iconn database, understand what I am
learning about myself while researching, and keep in mind improvements that I can make while I
am writing. Overall I felt my research was accurate and mostly accurate, but in the future there are
always things I can improve such as finding very credible sources, narrowing the focus of my
research, and continuing to experiment and hands on test my research
Analysis Of The Article The Accidents Of Nature By...
The article Redefining Normal: A Critical Analysis of (Dis)ability in Young Adult Literature by Jen
Scott Curwood discusses the importance of proper disability representation in young adult literature
for the benefit of school children. Curwood writes young adult literature should not only provide
accurate portrayals of individuals with disabilities, but must offer themes that are not didactic,
condescending, or pedantic (Curwood, 18) because literature about disabilities and differences can
be a powerful tool to heighten the achievement of all students by broadening attitudes and
perceptions of self and other (18). She also argues that if schools don t include diverse characters
and topics, then that effectively condones prejudice and stereotypes and continues to further the
othering aspect. In contrast to Me Before You, the book Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBryde
Johnson is a book that provides readers with both a positive representation of life with disabilityas
well as showing a wide range of disabilities. Accidents of Nature is set in the year 1970 and is about
a seventeen year old girl named Jean who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around.
Despite her condition, Jean has always thought of herself as the same as everyone else as she goes
to a normal , abled bodied school and has normal abled bodied friends. She has never even known
another disabled person before going to Camp Courage for a week, a camp solely for disabled youths.
Paradise Resort Case Analysis
I believe that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia have the jurisdiction to
hear this lawsuit under certain situations. The defendant, Paradise Resort, Inc. is a corporation
formed in Delaware and its only luxury hotel was based on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Mr.
Head was a Georgia citizen and he gets injured when he was using the spa services in Paradise
Resort. Mr. Head filed a lawsuit against Paradise Resort based on the Georgia state law. If the
defendant corporation settles with the lawsuit held in Georgia state court, then the state court will
have the jurisdictionto hear the lawsuit under the long arm statute and in personam jurisdiction.

At the first time, the district court granted Deiter s motion and dismissed the case for lack of
personal jurisdiction. However, after the appeal of the MacDermid, the U.S. court of appeal held that
the U.S. district court in Connecticut had the personal jurisdiction over Deiter and allowed the case
to go to the trial in Connecticut. Therefore, refer to the case of MacDermid, the U.S. district Court
for the Northern District of Georgia can own the jurisdiction to hear the lawsuit.
Sometime the law in different states is not identical or equivalent, therefore the defendant might
intend to bring the lawsuit in the Federal court to assure the fairness and justice of the lawsuit. If
the defendant did that, the state court will lose the jurisdiction to hear the lawsuit. According to the
Article 3, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution sets forth the jurisdiction of the federal court, the
federal court will have limited jurisdiction to hear cases involving diversity of citizenship or federal
question. In Mr. Head s case, he was a Georgia resident while the defendant corporation or subject
was citizen in different states. The diversity of citizenship occurs because it involves citizens or
subjects of different states. The U.S District Court in Georgia might not have the jurisdiction if the
defendant corporation persists and bring the lawsuit to Federal Court.
There is a case can be a reference as Mr. Head s case. In the Hertz Cor. v. Friend case,
Great Expectations Research Paper
Great Expectations is a coming of age novel written by the famous English author Charles
Dickens, in the 19th century (Victorian Era). Great Expectations is about Pip, a poor orphan boy
whose life is changed by two very different meetings one with an escaped convict who leaves him
a fortune and the other with an eccentric old lady and the beautiful girl Estella. Estella treats Pip
poorly; however, he still falls in love with her. Pip lives with his sister and her husband, Joe when
he leaves to go to London to be educated as a gentleman, and after many years he reunites with

During the 19th century, novels depicting maturation and self discovery were common. Pip begun
as a poor boy, with innately good conscience. He had a deep desire to improve himself and to
attain any possible advancement, whether moral, educational or social. However, when the boy
grew up he matures to a moral gentleman. Pips expectations changed from wanting to be an
apprenticed of Joe to wanting to be a gentleman to be worthy of Estella. This shows that his view of
life had changed when he got the opportunity to get an education with the fortune he received.
However throughout the novel Pip realises that no matter how much money he has, he will never be
worthy of a woman like Estella. At this point, the boy understands that he has sacrificed his
friendships, family and himself to pursue Estella. This shows that Pip grew up, and developed
another view of life and himself.
Great Expectations was published serially in Charles Dickens own magazine called All the Year
Round from 1860 to 1861. At that time, anyone who was not rich and wanted to read a book
bought the weekly issues of a magazine, such as All the Year Round . Serial publication enabled
the middle class readers to buy novels that would be too expensive for them to buy as single
editions. The author grew up in a poor family, without much money. The serially publication of the
novel may have been a way Charles Dickens gave less fortunate and poor
The Project Background Of Vehicle Safety
The Project Background
Vehicle safety is of upmost importance for automotive manufactures as having an unsafe vehicle can
mean the company will not be able to sell its new vehicle to the public. Each country has their own
legislation of vehicle safety which manufacture has to abide by and produce documentation to prove
that the vehicle is safe, in order to sell its vehicle in that particular country. Independent testing
organisations, such as Euro NCAP, perform a number of safety tests on new vehicles to confirm that
the vehicle conforms to legislation [1]. These tests also score the vehicle on different safety aspects.
Some manufactures use this score as a unique selling point of the vehicle so it is very important that
it achieves a good score [2].
One procedure tests vehicle rollover which is a particular risk to SUV s as they tend to have a
higher centre of gravity than other vehicles. This is a particular hazard as SUV s are becoming
more popular in today s society [3]. Vehicle roll over fatality accounts for 35% of all passenger
vehicle fatalities in the US in 2012 with 56% of fatalities occurring in SUVs [3]. The percentage
of fatalities in SUV rollover has reduced since 2003 however more research is needed to reduce it
further. Whilst the test is carefully designed there is always some chance that the vehicle will
rollover even if it has passed the test, thus endangering life. Therefore more research is needed to
accurately simulate vehicle dynamics during many
Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note
The poem, Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani is very similar to the song, Jumper by Third Eye
Blind but differentiates in many ways, also. These two pieces of work are very much similar in
the way their themes are expressed through the use of imagery and symbolism to help tell their
story about suicide and how it has affected them. The two pieces also differentiate when it comes
to who is actually narrating the story and the tone of voice being used. There is a lot of
relationship between the themes of the poem, Suicide Note and the song, Jumper . Both of these
works seem to correlate with the overall theme of suicide. The poem, Suicide Note , reflects on the
tragedy of certain cultures where women are so degraded and devalued that they
Robin Hood Research Paper
Socrates once said, The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but
on building the new. Robin Hood changed a lot from beginning to end. He started off being
different, but in the end, he was the same as anyone else. People had affected his ways of doing
things, and how he was as a person. Robin Hoodchanged over time by realizing what he has done, he
changed because of the decisions he made, and he changed after the hate between him and King
Henry dissolved.
Robin Hood changed a lot over time. He started off as an outlaw, and almost everyone was his
enemy. And so he came to dwell in the greenwood that was to be his home for many a year to
come, never to see the happy days with the lads and lasses of sweet Locksley Town; for he was
outlawed not only because he had killed a man, but also because he had poached upon the King s
deer (Pyle 21; ch 1). But in the end, he was no longer an outlaw, he was part of royalty. Thus rode
the King into Nottingham Town on that bright afternoon in the early fall season; and none rejoiced
more than Robin Hood and his merry men to see him come royally unto his own (907; ch 21).
Everyone knew who he was, even before he became royal. Time changes all people, and it really
affected Robin Hood. ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Robin Hood made decisions that were not so good, but he also made some good choices. He
allowed new people to be his merry men, and tricked people into giving him things, or doing
things for him. But after Robin left the little dell he strode along merrily, singing as he went; and
so blithe was he and such a stout beggar (692; ch 17). He tricked a beggar into switching clothes
with him, so no one would know who he was. I am right glad too see thee, Will, and thou wilt add
great honor and credit to my band of merry fellows (327; ch 9). He added many more people to his
band, including Allan a Dale. Robin Hood made good and bad decisions, and all of them affected his

All the companies decided that they needed one of the Z boys to be on there team, so they went
after all of them. Six months after the Del Mar event, Jeff Hoe and Skip Engblom would loose
the very skateboarding team they worked so hard to build. One year later because of mounting
business problems they would close the shop and would never again reopen . Jeff and skip didn t
have enough money to compete against the major skateboarding companies that where buying
them out. Getting all this money from different companies was kind of like giving kids some
candy and they weren t going to say no said Jay Adams. Due to this there was no way the band
could remain together, there was so much energy around it would soon blow up and branch out
in different directions and represent different countries that where competing against each other.
Skateboarding was soon going to get really popular. By 1975 skateboarding was in its way to a

selling magazine in 1976. The magazine second issue was feature Craig Stecyk Dogtown article

Strategic Marketing

Strategic Marketing A successful strategic marketing process must be thoroughly developed prior to
implementation. A strategic marketing plan according to Vega Rojas (2010) is to assign and to
coordinate effectively the marketing activities and resources in order to achieve the company s goals
or strategic mission (p. 3). The strategic plan must include target goals consistent with the company s
mission statement, a plan for implementation, and a process for controlling and correcting
deviations. Target goals are met by identifying marketing segmentation, which is targeting a specific
market for a particular service or line ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Once the specific marketing tools are identified and the target audience is set the marketing
department can implement the plan. Where and to whom the company message should reach is
outlined in the plan. Whether though print media, television advertising, or social media, the
message must remain consistent with the mission of the company. Both long term and short term
strategies should be rolled out by utilizing a marketing timeline set for maximum effectiveness.
Controlling
Marketing control refers to the systematic process of regulating organization activities to meet the
expectations established in the mission, plans, and targets of the strategic plan (Sliziene Vaitkenen,
2003). Companies should utilize decentralized control because people work best when they are fully
committed to the organization (Daft, 2009 p. 549). Accurate information is required so corrective
action can by taken for any deviations from the targets, measures and outcome. Leaders must
regulate the organization s activities to ensure their plans match the set target. These targets include
quality standards, which are essential for customer satisfaction and loyalty (Sliziene Vaitkenen,
2003). The realizations of marketing control require not only control, but also auditing and
monitoring the competition in marketing and evaluate management processes and their possibilities
(Sliziene Vaitkenen, 2003).

Analysis Of Joe Hill s Preacher Of The Slave
Preacher Casey s new purpose mirrors a historical idol from the same time period, Joe Hill. Joe
Hill was a leader of the IWW during the 1900s. Like Casey, Hill believed in striking against
businesses and led his own strikes including the Lawrence strike in 1912 and Paterson strike in
1913. Joe Hill used songs to communicate his ideas including the preacher of the slave . In the
song, Hill shows preachers as corrupted and argues against the existence of heaven, convincing
his audience that they should focus on improving conditions they face today instead of looking
for heaven for relief. Similarly, Casey said, I wouldn t pray just for a old man that s dead, cause
he s all right. If I was to pray, I d pray for folks that s alive and don t know which way to turn ,
mirroring Hill s views that the union must focus on the current conditions that mankind faces
instead of looking towards death for hope. Casey is connected to the song in a metaphorical way
as he too became an advocate of justice for workers thus becoming a metaphorical preacher of the
slave in a positive way, unlike the negative light Hill shined religious preachers in. Additionally, both
of these men argued for justice, equality, and socialism over religion. Furthermore, Joe Hillwas
arrested for a crime he did not commit and was executed by the state of Utah. Similarly, Casey is
caught conspiring and was beaten to death by Pinkerton guards who acted as the police force at
the time. Hill and Casey both became martyrs of their causes, Hill inspiring the followers of the
IWW and Casey inspiring his own followers, causing the transformation of Tom Joad. In the
beginning, Tom Joad s focus is the survival of himself and his family. Tom returns from
penitentiary wanting to reconnect with his family while on parole. Once Tom is reunited with
his family his focus is protecting his family. Although he does not feel as lost as Casey, Tom too
is searching for a purpose. Early on, Tom expresses some discontent with the government because
he was jailed for killing a man out of self defense. Later, after the death of Grandpa, Tom says, seems
like the government s got more interest in a dead man than a live one while he places a note over
grandpa s grave
