Assignment On Hotel
Assignment 1(a)

The nature of the organization that I had interviewed is hospitality industry. The hotel started its
operation in July 1990. The mission of the hotel is excellence in service. The hotel hopes to achieve
certain objectives and goal which is courteous to the guests, productivity of the staff, staff welfare
and provide guests with excellent service.
It is located right in the heart of the hustling and bustling town. Shopping complexes, cinemas,
restaurants and markets are all of walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is independently owned
by family business but the shareholders comprises of government and private sectors. The hotel has

The traditional shift pattern is essential for the operation of the hospitality industry. Employers and
the organization often claim that the flexibility provided offers workers work family balance and
other lifestyle benefit. The reality, however is that little is known that long undesirable working
hours affects the health or safety of the employees. Based on the study conducted on thirty nine
employees from two five star hotels (Bohle, Philip et al, 2004) review a shocking results as there is
a negative effects of undesirable working hours included poor sleep, irregular exercise, unhealthy
and irregular meals, interference with tertiary study and disrupted social and family lives. The
employees basically don t have a life at all working in the hotel industry. Even when not working,
they tended to just stay at home and chronically tired. This indirectly will bring the overall
productivity going down. As many think the longer one is working is thus aggravating the
inefficiency in the industry. There is lots of evidence shows that overwork is not just neutral.
Beside affect the health of the employees, they are also terrible for a company s bottom line
showing up as absenteeism, turnover and rising health insurance costs. Even if the employees do
enjoy the job and work long hours voluntarily, they would be more

While the maximum tax rate on normal income is 39.6%, the maximum tax rate on capital gains,
which is how many investors become rich, is 20%( How are capital gains taxed? ). In fact,
investor and billionaire Warren Buffett said that in his taxes, he Pays a lower rate than his
secretary (HOAR). Does it honestly make sense that a man with 77 billion dollars pays less in
taxes than his secretary? It is evident that capital gains taxed at such a low rate encourage this.
The third loophole, and the product of politicians and wealthy citizens of the state of Kansas, is a
0% tax rate on Limited Liability Companies, or LLCs. The idea for the tax break was to give the
state s economy a Shot of Adrenaline , and it allowed thousands of corporations to pay little in
taxes. This means that those companies could employ more people, and spend more money on
research and development. So how could this be negative? In short, it allowed individuals to form
Limited Liability Companies with only a single employee: themselves. This means that very
wealthy people can organize into an LLC, and pay nothing in income taxes, cheating the system.
However, it is impractical for the poor to do the same, as they don t have nearly as much to gain
from this. According to Kansas Attorney James P. Zakoura, This costs the state of Kansas at least
$260 million in needed revenue year after year (MONTGOMERY). The tax system in America is

Praise of Folly, Erasmus s seminal pre Reformation essay examines aspects of Church teaching as
well as aspects of worship which Erasmus deems worthy of the biting satire he utilises
Erasmus was unrelenting in his criticism of pedantry, sophistry and demagoguery among both
clerical and secular figures.
Rediscovery of Aristotle and the birth of humanism in the renaissance
The influence of Erasmus on humanism during this time was so great as to ensure that Northern
Renaissance humanism came to be labelled Erasmian. A movement which, unlike its Italian
counterpart and predecessor, would place faith and piety at the centre of theology and would place a
large emphasis on ad ... Show more content on [Link] ...
It will describe the role of Erasmus in the reformation and Erasmus s unease at his position straddling
the ever increasing divide in Western Christendom between the traditionalist Catholic position and
that of the Reformers.
, placing Erasmus in either camp, given his reputation as simultaneously the intellectual godfather of
Reformation thought and his ostensible life long loyalty (despite his persistent criticisms) to the
Roman church is innately problematic.
Erasmus s own view of Praise of Folly is a subject of much dispute. Going by his own writings it
seems unsure just how seriously he expected that particularly work to be taken. Certainly its
theological merit is utterly overshadowed by much of the rest of his body of work.
Hard to know how much import Erasmus himself attached to the work given his writings hence and
it place as a relatively insignificant part of a substantial corpus of work over his life.
The power and potency of Praise of Folly and the effectiveness of Folly as a serious messenger were
perhaps inadvertent on the part of the author.
It s more important historically then literarily.
Already in chapter 40, under the guise of continuing frivolify and without any change of tone or
style, Erasmus has thrown in a list of pious superstitions, quite long enough to make a thologians

Chapter 48 with its attack on pretentiousness forms the heart of the satire .

No Oedipal Complex Found in Hamlet

Some scholars have interpreted Hamlet s actions throughout Hamlet to be the Oedipus complex.
According to the story of Oedipus, Laius, his father, learned from an oracle that Oedipus would
kill him. Laius then left his son to die on a mountain, where he was found and raised by the King
of Corinth. Oedipus was also told that he would someday kill his own father, and fled Corinth
because he believed that the King of Corinth was his real father. On Oedipus s journey, he passes
Laius on the road, they argue and Oedipus kills Laius, without even knowing Laius was his true
father. Oedipus eventually marries his mother, Queen Jocasta, unaware of her true identity. ... Show

Last Days Of Summer
Character traits in books are a very essential element and without them, books would not be
books. They provide people with an example that they may follow in order to live a good life.
Some books serve as life lessons to show people how some characteristics can bring downfall to
some people if they do not follow the rules. Throughout Last Days of Summer, by Steve Kluger, the
characters possess many characteristics that can help us in our everyday life, most importantly,
patience. Charlie learns how to develop patience throughout the book. In the beginning, he despises
Joey for the nonstop letters he keeps sending him. As time goes on the two develop a very good and
strong relationship all because Charlie showed patience to Joey.

First, Death Comes to Daulat Ram is steeped in the elements of folklore and supernatural
elements. Ranga, the son of old Daulat Ram always takes tea in the same restaurant. One day, the
barman receives the phone and searches out Ranga. Ranga then gets the news of his father s
illness. The barman tells Ranga about the call without asking him whether he is Ranga. It is also
noticeable that Ranga thinks that it may be a bad news. Then follows the description of the
supernatural atmosphere and happenings. Daulat Ram fell sick for several times. But this time,
Ranga experienced many different things. The sun is seen fighting hard with the big black
clouds. The trees in the garden had drooped in despair. There was no blowing wind. The house
looked widowed . The creeper on the walls had fallen down at many places. /there was uneasy
stillness and no one was seen around the house. This was unusual. Usually, the lawns of the house
were littered with children and maids. The chaprasi was not at his place and the telephone had
been taken away. Strangely enough, none was there except an old beggar sitting near the entrance.
Usually, Moti did not allow any beggar near the house. Moti was seen near the beggar with puzzle in
his eyes. The old beggar was not disturbed by the arrival of Ranga or by the sound of his car. The
A Leader s Framework For Decision Making
In the article titled, A leader s framework for decision making , the authors David Snowden and
Mary E. Boone discuss the poor policy decisions at the governmental level and the challenges
facing uncompetitive local firms. The article explains how managers rely on common leadership
approaches that work well in one set of circumstances but fall short of others. In the complex
environment of the current business world, leaders often will be called upon to act against their
instincts. They will need to know when to share power and when to wield it alone, when to look to
the wisdom of the group and when to take their own counsel. A deep understanding of context, the
ability to embrace complexityand paradox, and a willingness to flexibly change leadershipstyle will
be required for leaders who want to make things happen in a time of increasing uncertainty (Snowden
Boone, 2007).

Destinee Game Analysis
As the striker stepped back to take the penalty kick, I planted my feet on the ground. I watched in
anticipation as she ran up to the ball and watched it fly towards the goal in slow motion, guessing
which direction it will go. Though I have played goalkeeper for 10 years, nothing I did then
would have changed the motion of the ball soaring towards the goal. Only the hard work I had done
in the weeks prior could affect it, because the goalkeeper in goal was a player I coached.
I started coaching for AYSO recreational league soccer in my freshman year, as an assistant to a
former coach of mine, Wayne. Wayne understood my passion and knowledge of the game, and I was
more than happy to help him and his team, specifically his goalkeeper, Destinee. ... Show more

Destinee had made her better and better every week. Of course none of her progress would be
possible without her hardworking attitude and commitment to training, but I still developed a sense
of pride in Destinee.
Finally, in one of the last games of the season, Destinee had a clear cut opportunity to show her
progress. It was an important game, and the team was winning by one goal. The referee called a
penalty kick, and Destinee had to make the save to keep her team ahead. I watched her get ready
for the shot the way I taught her and thought about how she had told me that penalty kicks were
impossible. The shot was taken, and Destinee made a diving save to the corner to deny the goal.
As I heard sighs of relief on my side of the field and loud groans on the other, I realized I was the
loudest one cheering. It was great seeing Destinee excel in something that she could not imagine
attempting only a month ago.
From this experience I learned that contributing to your community, however selfless the
contribution, has a reward in itself when you know that you have helped someone else. I felt proud
of Destinee and myself, and I still coach the team whenever

Remedies for Breach of Contract In a claim for damages the first issue is remoteness of damage;
how far down the sequence of cause and effect should the consequences of breach be traced
before they become so indirect that they should be ignored. Under the rule of Hadley v
Baxendale (1854) damages may only be awarded in respect of loss as follows: The loss must
arise naturally accordingly to the usual course of things, from the breach; or The loss must arise
in a manner which the parties, in making the contract may reasonably have contemplated s the
probable result of the breach of it. A loss outside the natural cause of events will only be
compensated if the exceptional circumstances, which the cause of loss are within the defendants
knowledge, when he made the contract. Secondly the court must decide how much money (the
measure of damages) to award in respect of breach and its relevant consequences. Monetary
damages for breach of contract are intended to be compensatory, i.e. put the injured party in the
position he reasonably expected to be in when the contract was created. Liquidated damages may
be included in the contract but are not always upheld by the courts if it is excessive. Unliquidated
damages are those decided after the breach occurs, either by the parties themselves or by the courts.
When establishing the financial value of the plaintiff s loss, the court is governed by a number of
Rear Window Film Analysis
There are many different elements that identifies the film Rear Window as a Hitchcock film.
First off, there are two obvious ones, which are having a blonde woman in the film, as well as an
animal. There multiple blonde women in the film, such as Lisa and Miss Torso , as Jeff calls her.
Jeff s neighbors have a small dog as well. Additionally, another obvious element is there are stairs
in the film. In the film, the building where Thorwald lives is shown to have stairs. Additionally,
Hitchcock does appear in the film, as a clock winder in the songwriter s apartment. The mother
figure in the film is in the form of his nurse, Stella. Additionally, she is shown to be very comedic,
for example when she is persistent on having Jeff marry Lisa. Furthermore,... Show more content on

Lisa is considered the femme fatale in the film. She is shown to be powerful in the fashion role as
well as being dominant in her relationship. For example, she is able to take care of Jeff and even
offer him a better job in the fashion world. She is able to hold her own in debates, such as when
she and Jeff are debating about his career. Additionally, she is shown to be in charge of her
sexuality, such as when she uses it to seduce Jeff. The second element that I noticed was the
presence of rain. It is shown to be raining on the night that Thorwald murders his wife.
Furthermore, the film takes place in the city, and there are many low key lightning scenes. For
example, in the scene where Thorwald comes to Jeff s apartment, the scene is very dark with low
key lightning. Lastly, the protagonist of the film, Jeff, is shown to have light and dark qualities
to him. He is shown to have faults. For example, he does not respect the privacy pf his neighbors,
and is not the kindness to Lisa, such as when he yells at her. However, he is able to solve a
murder and is extremely concerned about Lisa when she goes to investigate Thorwald s
apartment. Additionally, he is shown to express concern about his neighbor s as well, such as
Thorwald s wife. There is also a sense of gloom in the film. The film makes one be distrustful of
their neighbors as well as fearful because one does not know

After he was an apprentice, he only got twenty cents a day and his parents kept on borrowing and
