Chinatown Of San Francisco
Chinatown of San Francisco

There are many Chinatown in this world, and the Chinatown of San Francisco has much historical
significance; The Chinatown of San Francisco is the largest Chinatown in the United States, the
largest community of Chinese Americans outside of China. Today I want to write about the of
San Francisco base on my personal experience because there are many historic things I can
illustrate. Before I started traveling this field trip, I did some researches carefully in San Francisco
city guide, so I eager to travel as soon as possible. Finally I attended a free tour with San Francisco
city guide, also they assigned a tour guide, Marann.
There was a Mid Autumn parade in Chinatown on that day, accompanying the dragon and lion
dancing, Marann started to give us illustration about Chinatown. Because It is hard to get a
parking lot in Chinatown, and the people who live in Chinatown celebrated Mid Autumn Day, so
I decided to take BART to go there. Before I met our tour guide, I went across to Union Square
and passed a tunnel. The one side of the tunnel is to connect the western world, like Union Square,
and the another side of the tunnel is to connect to the orient world, Chinatown. Finally I walked to
inside Portsmouth Square Park, park level, and then I saw our tour guide, Manuel Maranan who
took us to Chinatown. That s a very big park, and it s close to Hilton hotel, there was a China s nation
flag, also there was a Taiwan s flag. Many Chinese visitors
Analysis Of A Long Walk To Water
The lost boys. That was what they were being called in America the boys who had lost their
homes and families because of the war and had wandered, lost, for weeks or months at a time
before reaching the refugee camps (91). Linda Sue Park wrote a novel based on one of these
boys called A long walk to water. Salva Dut was a boy alone in Sudan and becomes a survivor by
also becoming a leader, adapting to situations, and overcoming dangerous obstacles. Salva was a
lost boy in a big world that had many problems, but he overcomes them by helping others as a
leader (91). Salva s uncle was the leader of the group he was staying in and he shared all the food
he got to the group, but it seemed they had all forgotten that, for now Salva now had to beg for
scraps, which were given grudgingly (67). Salva was alone now because his uncle was killed in
the war, so after he died, the group did not treat him with the same respect that Salva had to his
uncle. Much later, after Salva became alone again and was left to fend for himself, Salva had
become the leader of a group of about fifteen hundred boys (80). After Salva got older the group
looked to him to lead them to the new refugee camps because the camps in Sudan were closing.
As Salva became the leader of the boys he didn t just walk with them, he helped them personally
Salva would talk to them, encourage them, coax and persuade them (81). Salva was a true leader
because he actually helped the group like his uncle by talking to them, sharing with them, and
showing them the way to get what they need, he also showed them how to adapt to situations.
Salva was one of the many who faced multiple situations in America and to overcome them he
adapted to them. Salva was in so many camps that he heard the aid workers talk and get a little
english down but after so many years in the camps, Salva could understand a little english (86).
Michael was an Irish aid worker that helped Salva a little english and teach him some letters to
memorize. Salva had gone to America because he was chosen to go now Salva s arms were piled
with new clothes. Underwear, socks, sneakers. A pair of long pants. A t shirt and a long sleeved
shirt to wear on top of it (92). Salva got into America

The Music Industry Became Aware Of Napster After John...
In June of 1999 Shawn Fanning, John Fanning, and Sean Parker created an independent peer to
peer file sharing website called Napster, Named after John Fanning s high school nickname. A
peer to peer (P2P) service allows access to media files like movies, music, books and games by
using a certain program that connects to other computers on the same network, meaning that when
someone downloaded a file it was coming directly from another person s computer. The website
was specifically designed to transfer MP3 files with a search engine dedicated to retrieving MP3
files only, and a chat service which allowed users to communicate with each other while using this
system (Tyson). At its prime, Napsterwas home to about 80 million users (Gowan). The issue with
Napster was that it wasn t properly licensed to distribute the files and it allowed its users unlimited
free access to other individual s intellectual property without their consent. The music industry
became aware of Napster when the heavy metal band, Metallica discovered that an unreleased
version of one of their songs was circling the internet. Metallica sued Napster, providing evidence
that over 300 thousand people had exchanged their work without the approval of the band or the
record label, and that Napster contributed to their infringements (Vaver). Napster s main defense
against the lawsuit was the Audio Home Recording Act of 1992. What this law does is allow
anyone who has legally purchased a CD or cassette the

U.S. Drug Policy Versus Drug Reality Essay
If the United States is serious about winning the war on drugs, it will have to face some hard facts
about the failure of its drug policy to date. Since Reagan introduced the war on drugs in the early
1980s, the focus of anti drug legislation has been on incarceration and eradication, not on drug
education and treatment. Drug useis viewed as a crimethe same way that burglary and murder are
viewed as crimeswithout examining the social and economic causes behind drug use. This
categorization of drug use as criminal misrepresents the nature of addiction. Drug addicts do not
abuse drugs because they are deviant or even because they consciously desire to cause harm to
themselves or to those around them, they abuse drugs because they are... Show more content on

Since the war on drugs began, the number of incarcerations on charges of possession or trafficking
has shot up from 50,000 in 1980, to 400,000 in 1997. That means that fully 25% of prison inmates
are in jail on drug related charges. Despite Americas get tough policies, U.S. school children
between the ages of 12 and 15 are nearly twice as likely to have tried marijuana as their Dutch
counterparts (13.5% versus 7.2%), though cannabis possession is legal in the Netherlands.

Such statistics do not point to the futility of all forms of government action to combat drug use, but
they do firmly suggest that a revision of American policies is in order. The currently ineffectual drug
policies stem from a few basic misunderstandings about the nature of Americas drug problem. Firstly,
politicians are overly fixated on the inevitably futile policy of eradication. Regardless of the
number of DEA officers stationed along our southern border, the US will never be able to quell the
importation of illicit drugs into this country. The economic incentives to run drugs across the border
are just too high. The number of people living below the poverty line in Latin America, particularly
the rural poor, is too high for most Americans to fathom. For many, the economic benefits of drug
trafficking will always exceed the
In Physical Education There Is A Wide Variety Of Students.
In physical education there is a wide variety of students. There are the student athletes, student s
who have a moderate level of physical activity, student s who may be self conscious, student s who
are overweight, student s that just don t care about physical education or school at all. Educators
have to find a way to for these students to interact and feel like physical educationclass is a class
where everyone can succeed. The Cooperative LearningModel was designed to do just that. This
model was originally referred to as the Student Team Learning Model (STL) and created by Robert
Slavin (Instructional Models for Physical Education(as cited in R. Slavin 1983)). It is focused on
three main concepts: team rewards, individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When implementing this program there will be groups of four to six students working together in
teams to complete a certain task (M. Metzler, 2011). Student s given different roles can better feel
like they have an impact on the classroom environment.
A study done at the University of Memphis by Ben Dyson looked at the teacher perspective on the
implementation of a cooperative learning program and the students reactions to the Cooperative
Learning Model being implemented. The study focused on two mixed third and fourth grade
classes at Loon Elementary School (B. Dyson, 2002). The study found that the implementation of
cooperative learning might take time for the teacher to become used to but has a positive
outcome (B. Dyson, 2002). This model correlates directly with the three learning domains
(psychomotor, cognitive, and affective) and with the national standards for physical education
(B. Dyson S. Grineski, 2001). Another study done by two researchers in Finland looked at how
this method effects the development of social helping behavior (S. Polvi and R. Telama, 2000).
There were 4 groups of 11 year old girls that were researched over 9 months for 2 hours each week
(S. Polvi and R. Telama, 2000). It found that the implementation of a cooperative learning or se
education has a positive effect in a physical education class (S. Polvi and R. Telama, 2000).
A teacher understanding that this model is going to take time and the lessons are going to be long is
