The Origins Of North America
North America is a region in the North Hemisphere, and is also deemed a subcontinent. One thing
that shaped North America current physical geography was glaciers. Glaciers are what influence
majority of the current landscape of North America today. North America also has a wide range of
natural hazards that affects the region more than any other continent, due to the proximity of water
and the latitude. The region also has a long history of the influences of the European settlers and help
shaped the human geography. The current physical geography of North Americawas formed from the
role that the glaciers played. Glaciers used to cover majority parts of the region. The ice slowly
began to melt and loosen up the soil and rocks. Ray Louis writes, ...the glaciers smoothed,
polished, and scratched the rock outcrops, producing a more subdued landscape (Louis). The soil
and rock would then become an abrasive and was the beginning of shaping the landscape. The
glaciers melting wore down the hilltops and valleys began to fill up. The melting of the glaciers
also began to carry large rubble of different sizes and would clog the rivers with gravel and sand.
The thawing glaciers slowly shaped the current physical geography of North America. As a result,
these resources form mountains, streams, and lakes.
North America has a wide range of natural hazards due to the latitude and proximity of water. The
latitude and proximity play a part in the spreading of climate related disaster in
Mandatory Wolf In France
A man can be a beast. Deceptive eyes, a threatening grin, the capability to commit monstrous acts;
man and beast sound alike. This fine line that exists between fact and fiction is how legends thrive
and conquer the truth.
From 1764 to 1767 a series of vicious attacks plagued the population of Gévaudan, France,
instilling fear in many of its inhabitants. Numerous people were killed or severely injured, some
reports stating hundreds of victims, which sparked myths and stories that spread throughout France.
The beast blamed for these attacks was described as having a blood red coat, large teeth, and was
said to be twice the size of any normal wolf. Hunters at the time used special bullets and guns
because stories claimed that mundane weapons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1858 the first literary reference to the beast was published by Élie Berthet in his book titled La
Bête du Gévaudan, which explores the beast by depicting it as a man who believes himself to be a
werewolf (Berthet 314). A vital piece of information is the fact that the people of Gévaudan were so
unwilling to see the story from an analytical standpoint, and admit that the killer might have been a
person. The population of France accepted a large, wolf like creature over the concept of turning on
another human being. Unity was valued by these people, whatever conflicts were going on between
the upper and lower classes, or the protestants and the Catholics, the majority valued

Describe any changes in the lesson plan and the reasons for those changes.
[ The lesson plan was cut short due to a two hour snow delay, this change forced the lesson plan time
to be shorter than expected. Due to this change, I decreased the amount of whole group instruction. I
made this adjustment because I wanted to offer students as much peer discussion and social learning
as possible within the time offered. ]

[ During the lesson, I always address the focus learner by his first name, Peter. When he would get
through parts of the lesson, I would tell him that he was doing a good job and that he could move
onto the next activity when he was done. I introduce the lesson to the entire class by stating the
expectations, the activities, and materials used. During the lesson, I observed that Peter was very

This allows the student to become increasingly engaged and motivated in the class. Peter is engaged
during peer discussion and classroom discussion. Peter is not a leader among the group; however, he
did participate to complete a multiplication problem in front of the class. During this volunteer time,
Peter was aided by his peer, Michael to further his understanding of repeated addition. It has also
been discovered throughout the school year that Peter is a hands on learner; the manipulatives
present in the lesson keep Peter more engaged and increase his learning outcomes. Peter was able to
complete the multiplication problem 10x3 on the board using the area model format; this displays
that Peter understands the method of breaking numbers into equal groups.
Ebonics Research Paper
Ebonics is used by a group of people pertaining to a certain race or community (mostly African
American). It has most of the characteristics commonly found in a language; subsequently, seeing it
as a language on its own could be an open ended argument based on each conversationalist s point of
view. Just like any other languages known to man it is arbitrary, productive, creative, systematic,
vocalic, social, non instinctive and conventional. It serves the purpose of facilitating or conveying
thoughts between individuals. From that being said, I personally have the opposite thought when it
comes to perceiving it as a bona fide languagebecause, it doesn t have its own alphabet or
grammatical rules. As we all know, the world has been a diverse
Analysis Of The Film, Edward Scissorhands, Directed By Tim...
My theme Outsiders in society how appearances can be deceiving I think is very important to the
film Edward Scissorhands; directed by Tim Burton, as the theme is repeated throughout the film.
My theme has a general importance because its shows the other side of society that we don t get
to see or notice too often. The group of individuals on the other side constantly shows the
challenges they face, and the different ways of living are often ignored because they don t fit into
the current society. This brings up a strong contrast and compare between what society defines as
normal and what is abnormal. My theme tells us that their appearances are often deceiving and we
should learn to to give them a chance. This means you are also more... Show more content on

Edward (the outsider) is introduced into the bright society below and I noted he is readily
accepted by most as they got to know him more. Edward I thought also became happier compared
to his sad face in the beginning and more confident in himself and others as he was recognised by
the suburban society. However the betrayal of robbing a house by Edward later in the film meant
he was framed, forced to leave and return to the place where he came from. I thought this was
cruel and inhuman as Jim, who told Edward to break into the house was using him as he could
open any house with his scissors. He had no knowledge of what he was doing and was
unfortunately framed and Edward being all the more vulnerable because of his appearance. I
thought Carol (a member of the suburb) makes a strong connection to Edward s appearance by
talking on the phone to the other suburb neighbours Joyce, I just saw this strange guy driving
with Peg... I didn t get a good look at him, he looked kind of pale. I felt quite curious in the way
that Carol felt to see this new character in the suburb and shared this same feeling with many
others in the film. Edward was very welcomed by Peg (who found Edward) and so, he meet the
rest of the people in the suburb and was accepted to be more involved in their society. This
reminded me of the text: Perks of being a Wallflower, where an anonymous person (named Charlie)
describes himself as an outsider. It is quite unique as he knows what other people say
Tech Prep Essay
Tech Prep
Although the development and implementation of tech prep education programs have been in
process since the initiation of the Carl D. Perkins Act Amendments of 1990, misconceptions about
tech prep education still exist. As defined in provisions authorizing Perkins funds for tech prep, a tech
prep education program is a combined secondary and postsecondary program that
leads to an associate degree or two year certificate; provides technical preparation in at least one
field of engineering technology; applied science, mechanical, industrial, or practical art or trade; or
agriculture, health or business; builds student competence in mathematics, science, and
communications (including applied academics) through a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the integration of academic and vocational education offers one strategy for developing
the academic and technical competence of students, it does not constitute tech prep. Tech prep
requires not only new courses and a sequenced core curriculum, but courses that take into account the
learning styles of the majority of students, incorporating concepts like that of contextual learning.
According to Hull (1993), contextual learning occurs only when students process new information
or knowledge in such a way that it makes sense to them in their frame of reference (their own inner
world of memory, experience, and response) (p. 41). Thus, the applied academics approach to
learning, which involves the teaching of solid academic content by means of hands on and
vocational applications, follows the contextual learning concept in that it provides for learning in the
context of life experiences building on what the students already know and applying learning in the
context of how the knowledge/information can be used in the context of exploration, discovery, and
invention (ibid.). One of the goals of applied academic curriculum is that it should enable students to
transfer knowledge from academic content to vocational applications and from school to the
workplace.
To ensure a curriculum that will prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies
necessary for work in a technologically
Ducati Group s Strategic Plan
Before to Ducati s acquisition by Texas Pacific Group, a deep financial crisis affected Ducati,
undermining its production and consequently negatively affecting its market results. Production was
less than production capacity and therefore it was clear that a relaunch of the company was
necessary. The strategic plan carried out by Ducati Group, with the help of newly appointed Minoli,
focused on the idea of increasing the company s value through a growth in turnover volume and
protection of product profit margins. One of the most interesting aspects of the changes embraced by
the Ducati, is the restructuring of the production system which began in the mid 1990s in order to
maintain the product margin and increase the level of sales and turnover.
Minoli found three things at Ducati when he arrived:
good products: unique and beautiful bikes, although regarded as less efficient and reliable in
comparison to Japanese models
top notch engineers: both in R D and for the racing division
a brand with a strong potential: in most European markets, Ducati s brand recognition and loyalty
was the highest in the motorcycle industry.
First, the aspiring team started off the transformation of Ducati s strategic plan by creating what
was called the World of Ducati , to support and develop the brand. This started with the decision to
build a museum, in order to show that Ducati was more than a motorcycle company; Ducati was a
dream and a passion. Through this Ducati was able to

Daytime Talk TV is Immoral
Today s society has become a visually based culture and, as a result, people learn and act from what
they see. With the advent of television, many programs have been aired ranging from news
programs to sitcoms and from game shows to talk shows, but talk shows, today, have the most effect
on the public. Daily, viewers turn on their televisions and many are bombarded with images of sex,
drugs, and violence on the talk shows. Unfortunately, many people are either disturbed or affected
by what they see. As Vicki Abt and Leonardo Mustazza point out in their article, Coming After
Oprah: Cultural Fallout in the Age of the TV Talk Show, Surely long term exposure to this genre has
consequences for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As children, they are in the stage of life when they are learning the most and absorbing everything
they see, and it is natural for most of them to repeat what they see. Adolescent years are very crucial
for learning how to behave and learning right from wrong, but talk shows are destroying children s
morals and their outlook on society. Therefore, there is no doubt that they are having a negative effect
on our future, the children.
In addition to affecting children, talk shows are affecting adults as well. Adults are observing
these programs as much as children are, if not more. Our society is continually affected by what
is seen, and consequently, there have even been cases of violence as a result of watching one of
these talk shows. For instance, in 2000, a man by the name of Jonathan Schmitz murdered a gay
man, Scott Amedure, after watching an episode of Jenny Jones in which Amedure admitted that
Schmitz was his secret crush according to Ellen Willis (34). Most likely, that tragedy would not
have occurred had it not been for a talk show like Jenny Jones that presents immoral topics for
millions of viewers to see. This just further proves that talk shows have a negative effect on their
viewers.
Moreover, the viewers of the talk shows are not only affected that way, but some may also relate to
the talk shows and in effect, they believe there is a direct connection between the fictional world

Analysis Of What Makes Us Human
While reading through the article of What makes us Human, I learned about things I never knew
about. How many people have actually read about the things that go on in our brain? I learned
about three different genes and their roles in our life. While one helps us develop our brain from
before we are even born, with the development of it all, to encoding our RNA. HRA1, FOXP2 and
ASPM have played a major role throughout our whole lives without us even knowing.
Evidence shows that chimpanzees are our closest relatives. They nearly have the same brain as ours,
correspondingly the same organization and complexity. The similarity between our DNA is roughly
between 98.5 99.4 percent identical. Similarity makes it seem to us like the relatedness are among us
humans and the chimpanzees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the ways used to identify if this was true would be to check the DNA in a fossil. Speeding
up the molecular clock would not work because everything has to be checked through the DNA and
fossil statements. But what if we could speed up the process? Would we have been here when there
was dinosaurs around...would we have encountered all the different species that have died off. Due
to HRA1, which is a Cajal Retzius cell that includes Protein Reelin. Reelin is a large secreted
extracellular matrix glycoprotein that regulates the process of neuronal migration and positioning in

The Problem Of High Crime Rate
From a lot of our class discussions, as well as interactions from with other students on campus I feel
that a prevalent issue both to our school, and citizens of the downtown Tampa area in general is
safety. As students on campus we receive almost weekly emails from the school s security
department informing us somebody, usually a student, getting robbed or accosted in some way by an
unknown person and that policeare investigating. Rarely do we get emails saying the person was
caught, this has lead to some students to begin to feel unsafe in the areas around campus. So the
issue is how to lower crimerate in the area, and increase the safeness for citizens and for students in
particular. The first step in addressing this problem is figuring out what is happening. The first
thing would be to look up the crime reports from both the university security and Tampa police
department in the areas surrounding the school. The first thing this helps us determine is if there
has been a rise in crime in recent years or if it is an ongoing problem. If there is a rise we can look
at the areas where the rise occurred and focus there, if not we know problem is for the area as a
whole. Second by looking at the crime reports we can look at both the areas where the crimes are
happing and the situations that resulted in the incident. Information like time of incident,
information of victim; i.e. age, race, gender, sex, etc., if the victim was alone or intoxicated and other
information to
