Analysis Of The Nutcracker Battle
The Nutcracker Battle
Everyone s favorite time of the year was approaching. It is finally December which means cold
weather, jingle bells, Christmas trees, and of course, Nutcracker season! All of the dancer s enrolled
in the Mississippi School of the Arts were thrilled to finally put on the tremendous production. They
could not wait to put on their tutus and pointe shoes and to spread the Christmas joy.
Ms. Tiffany, their strict but loving instructor, gathered the dancers around her to have a brief
meeting. She announced that every senior dancer was required to audition for a principal role of
their choice, and that she will announce the cast two weeks before the show. Ever since last year,
the dancers already knew which role they wanted, and practically already knew the choreography.
They quickly began to go over the choreography and rehearse for the upcoming audition.
Anna Beth has dreamed of dancing the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy ever since she tried on her
first pair of ballet slippers on. She was mesmerized by the tenderness of the Sugar Plum Fairy and
would rehearse for hours until she got it perfect. Her only competition was Ellen, her best friend.
The two girls helped each other with everything especially dance. Even though Ellen was not as
experienced as Anna Beth, she had surpassed most of the peers in less than a year. She would also
do whatever it takes to get the role.
While rehearsing, the two girls kept exchanging looks, trying to outdo one another. If Anna Beth
did a double pirouette, Ellen would do a triple. If Ellen would hold a balance for three seconds,
Anna Beth would push herself to hold it for five seconds more. Instead of letting the intensity get to
her, Anna Beth viewed it as a healthy competition and took everything she could learn from it.
Besides, the two girls are best friends, whatever the result turned out to be, they would be happy for
one another, right?
The day of the audition quickly came. All the dancers were in the studio warming up, listening to
their music, and stretching. Anna Beth was a nervous wreck, sweating buckets just from the palms
of her hands. When Ms. Tiffany walked in, the dancers quickly stood up to greet her, and waited for
her instructions. Ms.
Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine
which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault
188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon
allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticonproduces power. Most inventions
develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem.
Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to
describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these
events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the
plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a
seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial
partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The
town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of
an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at
the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the
syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and
reported the
Romania s Abandoned Children
Romania s Abandoned Children Biography Nicolae Ceausescu was a Romanian activist, military
leader, and president during the 71 years of his life. He was raised by peasant parents so he saw
firsthand the depredations that the people on the lower rungs of society had been forced to
accept throughout the many years of the monarchy that ruled the country. He went to work in a
factory when he was just 11 years old, and he almost immediately began following the communist
philosophies and reactionary politics. After World War II when Soviet Russia was beginning to
dominate the region, he, like many of his contemporaries, made sure that they were members of
the ruling class that was forming (Kaplan 81). He believed the communist ideology, and he was
positioned, because of his associations, to become a prominent member of the new party. When
the communists came to power, he was first a Minister of Defense, and then the head of the
defense forces. When it came time to select a leader after the death of Ceausescu s good friend
and mentor Georghe Georghiu Dej who had been the country s leader, Ceausescu was selected as
a compromise between the many different factions that wanted to rule the country (Kaplan 102).
Ceausescu was seen as a good leader by Western nations at first because he separated himself from
many of the exclusionary Soviet Bloc policies, but he changed after about ten years of leadership
(Pop 64). For the final 15 years of his rule, Ceausescu became a tyrant much
The Importance Of The Conformity Of Uniforms
I researched how the conformity of uniforms in schools have violated a number of First
Amendment rights. The First Amendment of the United States was ratified, on December 15,
1791. It promises protection for all to express their individual freedoms of religion, speech, press,
the right of assembly, and the right of petition. These terms back in 1791 were not distinguished.
Even now in the 21st Century the words remain subjective to ongoing interpretation and debate.
The placement of uniforms in schools can discriminate against gender equality, as well as one s
sexual orientation, political views, and religion. The First Amendment was put in place to grant
these individual freedoms, yet students are expected to conform to school policies regardless of
their own beliefs. An example of this violation would be Tinker v. Des Moines. In this court case
students from a school in Des Moines, Iowa were threatened with suspension if they went through
with a plan to silently protest the war in Vietnam. The students involved were denied their right to
peacefully assemble. It is stated in the First Amendment that Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances. The children who were suspended for proceeding with
the plan of peaceful protest sued the school district through their parents for a violation of their
First Amendment rights. In the District Court the judge ruled in favor of the school district,
claiming the school s actions were fair to maintain school discipline. Their ruling, however was
reversed in the Supreme Court when it was asked if the prohibition of a form of symbolic protest,
violated the students freedom of speech guaranteed by the First Amendment? I will be using this
court case to address current issues that also violate or at least put a restriction on a student s First
Amendment rights in schools. The definition of conformity is the compliance or acquiescence of
obedience. Conformity is encouraged with a high level of visual similarity among members of
Virtue Ethics Vs Deontological Analysis
Virtue ethics acknowledges compassion, truthfulness, and courage. It also describes the avoidance
of selfishness and sets forth that if a person does good then the person will receive a good life in
return (Plato). On the other hand, deontological theory acknowledges the actions and the results
(Kant). In this essay I will be comparing these two theories to decide which of them was used to
resolve an ethical predicament that I had to face.
I found myself involved in a difficult situation when I worked as a personal banker. It was my
night to close and supervise the teller line. I noticed that two of the tellers kept whispering back
and forth so I decided to pay close attention to their conversation. At first I heard one of them
asking to borrow money. The other teller agreed but only if she did the same for her. It took me a
couple of minutes to realize that they were not borrowing from ... Show more content on

I could have pretended not to see what the tellers were doing in order for them not to lose their
jobs. It would have been a white lie but would that have been the right thing to do? Would it be the
right way to act?
It would have been the right thing to do for them but it would be a wrong act for me. I understand
that with virtue ethics we can do something because of motivation and good character but the act
can still be classified as wrong (29) . If I would have allowed for the tellers to continue with their
jobs by not saying anything then I would have used the virtue ethics, however, by following what
was my duty I followed the deontological theory.
I also believe that I followed the deontological theory because I followed both of Immanuel Kant s
formulations without violating either of them. I did not use the situation for my benefit and my
actions can be accepted by any point of view; even from the teller s point of view as they know that
I was complying with my
Sintered Ceramic Materials
Where Nc= number of molecules per unit cell (Z=8), A= molecular weight of Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4
(236.81 g.mole 1), Vc= unit cell volume (584.172x10 24cm3) and Na=Avogadro s number
(6.023x1023 molecules.mole 1). The measured theoretical density (ρth) was found to be
5.3844g.cm 3. The apparent density of pellet specimens sintered at 850oC and 1050oC was
measured by using Ultrapycnometer 1000 which was varified by Archimedes buoyancy Principle
and was found to be 4.8 g.cm 3 and 5.02 g.cm 3 respectively. These densities were 91.38% and
93.23% of the theoretical values (% relative densities). Percentage porosity [59] of sintered pellet
specimens was found to be 8.2% and 6.8% respectively. It is observed Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 sintered
ceramic composed of uniformly sized grains and is 93% relative density. The high sintered density
can be attributed due to the small degree of agglomeration and fine nature of powder. The properties
of sintered ceramic materials depend upon the sintered density and porosity of ceramic. It is well
known that during sinteringof homogeneous materials, the porosity decreases and the
microstructures of the material develop, depending upon the morphology, agglomeration and
sintering conditions. The Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 specimen sintered at 850oC has lower %relative
density as compared to specimen sintered at 1050oC.

The Need for Nadsat in A Clockwork Orange Essay
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, develops a fictional account of a violent futuristic
society, while integrating commentary on current political and social issues.

Not only does A Clockwork Orange present Burgess view on behavior science, but it also contains
an invented language mixed in with English. Being well educated and having a background in
languages such as Russian, German, and French, Burgess created a language known as Nadsat.
Nadsat is influenced by Russian, German, English, Cockney Slang, and it also contains invented
slang. The language has a poetic feel to it and Burgess writing contains context clues that help the
reader determine what the unknown language means. The history of what ... Show more content on

Burgess turned this tragedy into a scene in the novel. The home of a writer by the name of F.
Alexander is invaded by Alex and his thugs. Alex brutally rapes his wife, who later dies.

What is interesting is how later in the novel, Alex happens upon Alexander s home again, forgetting
exactly why it seems so familiar. Alexander gets his revenge on the poor Alex, who opens up to the
horrors he suffered in prison, unknowingly telling Alexander ways to harm him. Alexander
represents Burgess desire for vengeance; Burgess is able to take out his anger on Alex, a murdering
rapist.

Burgess does not characterize Alex as just a murderous rapist. To come to terms with his wife s
death, he had to believe that it is inhuman to be totally good or totally evil (Burgess ix). In the final
chapter, Alex undergoes a moral transformation; he grows bored with violence and recognizes that
human energy is better expended on creation than destruction (vii). Burgess could not believe that
the men who raped his wife were totally evil, so Alex had to redeem himself by living a normal life.

The second event that influenced the creation of his novel happened when Burgess and his wife
took a trip to the Soviet Union and encountered a group of thugs who strangely maintained a kind of
honor code (Contemporary). Burgess displays morality in Alex by not making him a common

much earlier I decided to continue practicing my form and technique so that when I tested I did not
feel under pressure to learn everything and felt comfortable with all of the material. Firstly, I became
a full member of the high performance sparringprogram. Around the time that I tested I decided to
step up my training, Increasing the number of classes I went to and raising the intensity of my

I five years I see myself being in my second year of university while staying taekwondo training for
high level tournaments. Firstly, I will be in university after, finally, picking a goal for my profession.
During my time at university I will have found some type of schedule that allows me to train in
taekwondo, study, sleep, attend classes, work, and somehow fit in personal time. I intend to stay in
the HPAC program all throughout those 5 years and even further into the future. At this time I plan
on fight at international tournaments. I will have found a job that can help pay off my student loans
that every university student has. I believe that I will have found a way to balance everything in my
life and continue being happy throughout everything.

4. What are my goals in Taekwondo? How will I achieve them? In Taekwondo I want to fight and
succeed at an international level. I will do this by training as much as I can and asking the
masters for any advice that they can give me. I will also watch my peers to see what they are
doing well so that I can integrate it into my fighting style and improve. Most importantly, while
sparring I will try new techniques so that I can learn what works and what doesn t and so that
when I go to a tournament I have some new tricks up my sleeve against people I have already
fought. These ways are how I will improve to fight at a international level.

Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals
SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS
IN PRIME RINGS
AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZÁLEZ**
Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B :
R × R → R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → B(x, y) is a
derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R × R → R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if
for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the
derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a
generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction
Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb
= (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0.
As usual, [x, y] = xy − yx denotes the commutator, and x ◦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A
ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈
R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u ◦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r
∈ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive
subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2,
then [x, y] = x ◦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2.
A derivation d : R → R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R.

Legal Drinking Age Analysis
The authors Wechsler and Toben state, SINCE 1984 THE NATIONAL minimum legal drinking
age in the United States has been 21 years (986). The drinking age in america is due for a change,
it is one of the highest in the world, The current age 21 limit in the United States is higher than in
Canada (18 or 19, depending on the province), Mexico (18), and most western European countries
(typically 16 or 18) (Carpenter 133).why are people able to live on their own, to smoke, or to vote
but they aren t able to drink? I believe that the more legal something is the more people will stay
away from it, something to do with angsty teens, and although that may be true for some people that
will take responsibility and not get drunk every time, we have to consider the people that will abuse

The expense and limited availability of liquor also helped keep it out of youthful hands (35).
When the drinking age was lowered in between 1970 and 1976 the amount of highway deaths
skyrocketed, this was due to drunk driving incidents being of the majority and quickly led most of
the states to set the age back from 18 to 21 how it had been originally (Main 35).I understand that
this may be a tragedy in itself considering we could have had a reasonable drinking age if people
would have been taught about the dangers of alcohol and drunkenness in general. That is why i
believe we would be better with integrating a lower drinking age, most people know not to drive
drunk and drink responsibly there have been commercials about it and it even says it on the cans
and bottles. In conclusion, the drinking age should be lowered to prevent future failiures the people
of today should already know how to take responsibility for their actions with anything life puts in
there way and should have learned from school how to not ruin your life or quite th opposite i dont

Martin Luther King Speech Rhetorical Analysis
In this emotional speech delivered by Martin Luther King Jr., he had intentions to motivate his
audience. Through his use of strong emotion vocally, repetition, and allusions he has his audience
emotionally connected by the end of his speech. His purpose was the get his audience to respond
in a way that got them fired up to solve the problem at hand. His use of strong emotions through
the way he spoke is what mainly appealed to the audience s sense of pathos. His deep vocal
emotion can be seen mainly in this lines, Before we reach that majestic land some more will be
